Ok , that's it. I'm done leaving it to chance. Me and my partner definitely want to actively try for a baby. We've been letting nature take its course but not actively trying.
So I've downloaded Flo and added my last few period dates. I stopped the pill back in July after being on for 13 years.
I've got some of that seven seas Trying for a baby pre conception vitamins, I started my period very last last night/early hours this morning after being 3 days late . Normally I'm like clockwork with AF, but this month I'm late, starving, nauseous, and so tired. But obviously not pregnant if I'm on period!!
So today marks the start of us activily TTC. I'm making sure we DTD around my ovulation dates and I'm hoping for a BFP next time around...
I'm extremely clueless to pregnancy, I never realised how hard it actually is! School teaches you that it's a definite the moment you have unprotected sex!
I'm 25 yet feel like I no nothing!?
Can I test at any point or is it best to wait till the next time AF is due? As in wait till I'm late then do a test?
I don't smoke or drink heavily. May have a glass of wine here and there.
Any tips for this month? Hoping I'll get a BFP by December!!!
Fingers crossed!!
Anyone in the same boat?

Could be worth a call in advance to check, perhaps? They should have somewhere you can chat confidentially though anyhow.

MrsP4 · 22/10/2018 13:29

Hi all I'm also TTC stopped taking my pill beginning of OCT been doing ovulation tests everyday since to try and track my cycle and period as I've been on the pill for 10 years, I got my first flashing smiley face on a clear blue yesterday and another flashing today, hoping that I will get caught this week, fingers crossed and good luck everyone xx

ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 13:34

@MrsP4 welcome to the thread lovely. Hope you get your static smiley soon and this whole TTC process isn't too long for you... I'm currently on cycle 5 but🤞🏻 testing Wednesday

MrsP4 · 22/10/2018 13:45

Ahh thank you @ExpectantPatronum wishing you all the luck in the world for weds, I know the TWW is going to be the worst thing, really hoping for a static smiley in the next couple of days, I'm 26 and this is the first time I've ever tried xx

ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 14:00

@MrsP4 just, with all due respect, don't expect anything... I thought it was going to be quick, I'm young enough, healthy, don't smoke, or drink heavily, had been off BC for over 6 months, and it still took a while!

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 14:31

@ExpectantPatronum &@EltzBee thank you, ill do that , although i did drop it into conversation today that it may be best if she didnt come along, shes been ill recently and with her having Lupus, she shouldnt be around infections/hospitals that kind of thing...

welcome @MrsP4! we are in a similar boat! Im 25, first time TTC last month/this month... only really decided to properly go for it , end of last month so im not counting it! Grin good luck! but like its been said, its not easy and try not to get too hopeful, in the nicest of ways.. i was convinced i was successful last month, only to have AF just arrive late... it was such a horrible feeling, so just go with it, and try not to stress of it doesnt happen immediately... Smile

on another note... me and the bf were in Nike yesterday (he insisted i buy some air max's on account of not owning a single pair of trainers!) and we came across the children's section....and omg he was like: how cute would these be on our child...and he looked so happy about it..my ovaries just exploded...! Blush

@ladytmp oh my gosh tell me about it! Me and my hubs were shopping at the weekend too, walked past a baby shop with all their autumn clothing etc and he melted more than I did... I think he's convinced this is our month too, and as with me, wants it so much more after last month.

EltzBee · 22/10/2018 15:05

@ExpectantPatronum oh totally with you there, the baby shop in town had such cute little pieces in their window display the other day, so, so cute. Makes me feel every more broody. 4dpo at the moment.

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 15:22

@ExpectantPatronum when we thought we were successful last month, (due to being 4 days late) he was so happy , and was up and making me tea and things and making sure i was looking after 'bean' ... we were definitely too quick to assume , but the excitement took over...and i was so sure considering im never late and i felt different...
....and i keep seeing pictures of babies in Halloween costumes and its making me broody...

At what point would you ladies announce you were pregnant to various people? When is it 'safe' as in , less risk of a miscarriage. When would you tell work? I work at a Crematorium, so some days i can just sit in the office, whereas others im out back cremating, and i feel with the heat of the cremator & weight of coffins ect.. work should probably know early on, yes?? Confused

@ladytmp last month I decided to tell my manager soon as I'd been to the dr, working in an office I decided earlier the better as it would be obvious should I have to run to🤢 turns out I didn't get chance as I MCd two days before my appointment, but wish I'd told her soon as I found out as I had to tell her crying over the phone, which wasn't great! so next time, I'm going to tell her as soon as we find out. But we're not going tell parents etc till after 8/10 weeks. (Hopefully with a grandparent Xmas card!)

Morganj28 · 22/10/2018 15:43

Hi,

I'm new to Mumsnet & we've been TTC for 4 cycles now.

I came off the pill in April & have been tracking temp with the natural cycles app. Initially we used it as contraception and now we're using it to plan.

AF has been late for the 4 cycles we've been TTC but always turned up.

Just joining in really to try and settle my own mind that there's not something wrong with me 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

MrsP4 · 22/10/2018 15:47

I know it's so hard, I'm just trying to stay positive @ExpectantPatronum @ladytmp there's always next month if this one isn't my lucky one, I know everyone's bodies are different and nothing is text book I've always thought it would take me a while like I said being on the pill for 10 years, would of come off my pill sooner but got married last month and didn't want AF making an appearance. I was just glad to get a smiley face to show signs of ovulation as I have a friend who isn't ovulating or having periods after stopping her pill.

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 15:51

@ExpectantPatronum I work with all guys as well , they already make jokes whenever i say im feeling a bit sick or something Grin i dont mind but especially now i actually am TTC it does get to me a bit, only because i want it so bad! Ill tell my boss early on i reckon, ill give it a week or so just to be sure...
Yeah same with the parents... ill wait till 10 weeks i reckon... makes it worse as my brother who recently got into a relationship , has already announced his new GF is pregnant.... Hmm kinda feel like they stole my thunder..even though there isnt any to steal ... Sad guess im just envious as ive been with my bf longer and we both have good jobs and our own home, whereas brothers gf doesnt want to work, and they live with my parents.... Hmm Is that wrong of me to be mad? Well i guess its jealousy really...

OP posts:
ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 16:00

@ladytmp I'd also be mad if that was me! Especially as they live with your parents. I bet secretly your parents will be much happier when you tell them the news. Better situation etc.

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 16:17

@ExpectantPatronum I hate to put a downer on there pregnancy, but its like the people who by normal reasons , shouldnt conceive quickly do! but then people like myself who hardly drink dont smoke or take drugs (all of which brothers GF does) do it all properly, and yet, no baby... I wish them the best of luck of course, but it just makes me feel down when i see that!!
Im trying not to put too much pressure on myself or my BF...felt a bit bad as was off with him due to his lack of effort and attention to the cause Grin but thats all good now.
and @MrsP4 wish you the best of luck hun, i wasnt trying to come across rude or anything, just didnt want someone else feeling crappy when it doesn't work out 1st month of TTC Smile

Fingers crossed to us all!
Do you guys think weight plays an important part in TTC? I will admit, i do struggle with my weight... i lost a lot in a very short space of time, and i am scared of putting it all back on. Im willing to gain for pregnancy of course, but i do have a low BMI and am close to being underweight... i swear i read its ''easier'' to conceive if you are heavier rather than skinnier?! Hmm

OP posts:
ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 16:26

@ladytmp I have also heard that being underweight affects your cycles... but if you're still healthy, like not just eating a tiny morsel to stay slim, then I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

MrsP4 · 22/10/2018 21:15

@ladytmp oh I know lovely it's fine, sorry if my message seemed snappy haha, I really appreciate all the help and advice, it's nice to be able to talk to other people in the same boat as me as no family know anything that we're TTC,

Just a quick one aswell, when would you tell family if you was pregnant ? I've got a lot of things over the next few months and people would know straight away if I said I wasn't drinking but also don't want to have to tell people too soon.

MrsP4 · 22/10/2018 21:16

@ExpectantPatronum sorry tagged the wrong person

ExpectantPatronum · 23/10/2018 09:38

@MrsP4 if you feel you want to tell them early, then tell them but stress that it's early and ask them to not get their hopes and excitement get too much. And tell them to keep schtum 🤫
If you don't want to tell them, then you can always deny it, even if they do the 'yeah right' face! You don't need to admit it. Then when you do tell them, you can laugh about how they suspected anyway.

ExpectantPatronum · 23/10/2018 09:40

@MrsP4 also... when we first started trying my friend had just done 3 months sober and lost and 16lbs so that was my excuse... if it's any good to you. Say you wanna go dry for a while before the hols really kick in??

EltzBee · 23/10/2018 10:07

@MrsP4 I don't think I'd tell anyone, although I suspect my Mum would probably guess. I definitely wouldn't tell work til I had to!!

MrsP4 · 23/10/2018 10:07

@ExpectantPatronum Great thank you! I was thinking about just not saying anything and stick to lemonade I usually have vodka so no one would really notice until I was still sober at the end of the night! Haha. Just have to wait and see might not even get that far yet before Christmas so who knows, day 3 of flashing smiley today xx

MrsP4 · 23/10/2018 10:08

@ExpectantPatronum are you testing tomorrow? Xx

ExpectantPatronum · 23/10/2018 10:19

@MrsP4 yes unless the she bitch turns up today.
I'm feeling quite pessimistic today tho, although I've had no signs from her, I just have that feeling I'm going to be disappointed tomorrow. I don't even know why.
Although I've had some weird ass dreams again.. and that was my one big sign last month. 🤞🏻

MrsP4 · 23/10/2018 10:48

@ExpectantPatronum oh wow I'm so excited for you I really am! I hope you get them two lines tomorrow! I've been having some really weird dreams too! And I never really have dreams! Keep us updated xx
