Ok , that's it. I'm done leaving it to chance. Me and my partner definitely want to actively try for a baby. We've been letting nature take its course but not actively trying.
So I've downloaded Flo and added my last few period dates. I stopped the pill back in July after being on for 13 years.
I've got some of that seven seas Trying for a baby pre conception vitamins, I started my period very last last night/early hours this morning after being 3 days late . Normally I'm like clockwork with AF, but this month I'm late, starving, nauseous, and so tired. But obviously not pregnant if I'm on period!!
So today marks the start of us activily TTC. I'm making sure we DTD around my ovulation dates and I'm hoping for a BFP next time around...
I'm extremely clueless to pregnancy, I never realised how hard it actually is! School teaches you that it's a definite the moment you have unprotected sex!
I'm 25 yet feel like I no nothing!?
Can I test at any point or is it best to wait till the next time AF is due? As in wait till I'm late then do a test?
I don't smoke or drink heavily. May have a glass of wine here and there.
Any tips for this month? Hoping I'll get a BFP by December!!!
Fingers crossed!!
Anyone in the same boat?

Hi @Pastaallday. I came off the pill after 15 years in July, and was dreading it! I've been pleasantly surprised how regular I've been. I had a withdrawal bleed from the pill at the usual time, and I then had my first 'real' period after 21 days. Since then it's been between 25-28 days, but fairly light each time. I've noticed bad hormonal headaches, although apart from the first month nothing too crazy cramp wise that paracetamol and a hot water bottle hasn't been able to deal with!
I've not noticed major changes to my mood which is good - no crazy mood swings that I was worried I might have!

thinkpositive2019 · 18/10/2018 20:07

Evening ladies, hope it's ok to join!
32 ttc#1 implant removal 17sept had withdrawal bleed and now just finished first real period now on cd6
Having some difficulties getting my partner to up the amount dtd as I also believe he thinks once or twice a month will do
Hoping this thread is a lucky one for bfp

cherrylo86 · 18/10/2018 20:44

@Pastaallday I came off pill in April after 15 years. Only thing I noticed in a change was I was less emotional all the time and less moody. I've only had two proper periods since tho! Once in July and once in September so it was 90 days until my first then 45 now I'm on 38 cycle days! No idea if I have ovulated since my last one! Only really started thinking about it all properly a few weeks ago so all this charting etc. Is new to me! I was hoping my period would actually show at a regular cycle time just so I knew where I was with everything but no it seems I'm still irregular. Took a test the other day and yesterday as had some weird symptoms but both neg as expected!

LozO91 · 18/10/2018 20:56

Hi all,

Same boat here - came off the pill at the end of June and thought it would have happened by now! How naive!

Any tips would be very much appreciated!

EltzBee · 19/10/2018 09:53

@cherrylo86 one of the things I'm starting to get my head around is how many symptoms of PMS are similar to what you would think you'd have if pregnant! I never remembered/realised the nausea, tiredness as well as headaches/cramps in the few days before period. It definitely makes you think you 'could be', you're not alone there. I've been very lucky and have had regular periods since I started, but have been OPK'ing too as I wanted to see if things did seem to be 'waking up' after 15 years.

ExpectantPatronum · 19/10/2018 16:42

Hi all. How's everything doing today?
Feeling pretty good going into the weekend, got lots planned to hopefully keep my mind off POAS!! Lol AF due Sunday.

ExpectantPatronum · 19/10/2018 16:43

Everyone* not everything!! 🤦🏼‍♀️

EltzBee · 19/10/2018 16:57

@ExpectantPatronum yippee, nearly the weekend! Last minute panic for one of my clients but think I've got them sorted til Monday, phew. My plans are to take it easy, do some baking and chill!

Fingers crossed for you :) good idea keeping yourself busy! Do you get your 'normal' symptoms before AF?

Pastaallday · 19/10/2018 19:28

Hey ladies, I'm off on holiday on Sunday. Obviously would like my period to come soon but knowing my luck will be whilst I'm on holiday Grin
Anyone else have a reason why they have decided to start trying when they did? We are going to start trying properly from Dec as ideally I woudlnt want a baby before Sept. But I know chances are it'll take much longer than I expect. It's so easy to assume it'll happen first time but I know it most likely won't. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

ExpectantPatronum · 19/10/2018 20:44

@EltzBee not really, I dont get many tell tale signs. Feel like the stairs up to the office take it out of me like!!
@Pastaallday we've both been feeling broody for a while now, but we didn't want to be pregnant before we were married, got married last October but went on honeymoon to Thailand in March so had to wait 6 weeks after we got back in case of Zika virus. So started trying in May.

MrsC87 · 19/10/2018 21:44

@ExpectantPatronum @Pastaallday we also got married last October and went to the Caribbean in Jan for honeymoon . We had to wait 6 months for Zika so started trying in August.
It's our wedding anniversary Monday and really wanted to be pregnant but hey ho!

MyloC · 19/10/2018 23:42

Not much happening on my end! On CD 6 so just waiting until fertile window. We got married in July and decided we would start trying after I realised how long it can take. Can’t believe how long I’ve spent not trying to get pregnant when it actually isn’t so easy.

EltzBee · 20/10/2018 14:53

@Pastaallday we got married in June and been trying since, like @MyloC said spent so long making sure don't get pregnant without really understanding how difficult it actually is in practice! My DH is really keen on starting a family, he has 3 nephews (8 6 and 2) so think he feels like he's got catching up to do lol!

ExpectantPatronum · 20/10/2018 15:35

Yeah I think school etc hammer it in that one slip up and boom - preggo!! But no!
DH and I have agreed that if we're not this cycle or next then it's going ok hold for a couple of months as I'm MOH for my bestie in August, also my 30th the day after... and I'd hate to ruin her big day if I couldn't make it, either in labour or just had. Really don't wanna have to put in on hold tho! After last month, it's made me realise I want this more than anything!

EltzBee · 20/10/2018 16:33

Definitely! Bless you, we have an invite for a wedding next July, the RSVP isn't til December so will wait til then. I'm not keen to go anyway tbh though, they're DHs friends and his fiancee but sounds awful they get on my nerves.
In the tww now but not totally sure when I should be due this month after late O.

ExpectantPatronum · 20/10/2018 17:06

@EltzBee I've read in a few places of trustworthy literature that your luteal phase is always the same length. So depending on how long that usually is, if you know when you ovulated, count from then.
How many DPO are you? I'm 12/13 so going to wait a few days after she's due either tomorrow or Monday, test maybe Wednesday if I can wait so long lol.

EltzBee · 20/10/2018 18:20

@ExpectantPatronum I'm on CD19, from lol and temp think I O'd late this month on cd17 so potentially only 2 dpo. Did have a dip then spike but no opk 2 days before that too.

Average luteal phase is 11/12 days, so the app thinks I was meant to be due on what would have been day 26 next Sat...

So assuming 11 days from 17 I think would actually be due on a few days after that. Will have to try and work that maths out!

MyloC · 21/10/2018 17:51

@ExpectantPatronum sending lots of luck your way for BFP!

Okay I’m now on CD9 and according to flo I am in my fertile window. Going to start OPKs tomorrow!

ExpectantPatronum · 21/10/2018 18:51

@MyloC is this the first time you've used them? Hope your get your surge🤞🏻 (and get to DTD when needed!)

MyloC · 21/10/2018 19:15

@ExpectantPatronum yeah first time using them so hoping they help me understand my cycle a bit better if nothing else!! Feeling good this month. Have you got any symptoms for this month?

ExpectantPatronum · 21/10/2018 19:24

@MyloC not really, few mild cramps, but I didn't really have anything last time.
Few odd surreal dreams like last time so I'm hoping they're a good sign. I don't feel pregnant tho like I did before so who knows. I'll let you know if she turns up tomorrow, if not, I'm testing Wednesday.

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 09:26

Well ladies after various things getting in the way we finally managed to dtd! Sorry for TMI, honestly I was getting so frustrated with timings and things I think I went a bit mad.
Anyways my flo app deleted most of my data as I had to switch phones my fault really for not backing it up so I think now all my dates are a bit squiffy! I know it said I was supposed to ovulate on the 18th however I think that might be a bit out anyway, as again tmi but my discharge was none existent until two days ago and now it's sticky ...sorry again for the details!
Fingers crossed for bfp this month!

OP posts:
ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 10:06

@ladytmp oh man! No data!!
My Flo keeps changing my dates!! First she told me I was due AF today, then she changed it when I entered my temps around ovulation, so told me I was due Sunday. But now that I've entered creamy CM yesterday she told me I'm due tomorrow!!
I'd just go with how you're feeling and now pay too much attention to Flo coz I'm sure she's on something lol.
It's confusing enough without Flo changing her mind every two mins haha (yes I like to think of her as a person!)

ladytmp · 22/10/2018 11:56

@ExpectantPatronum its so annoying!! I do like the app in terms of a rough guess at when AF will appear, but im not sure how much i trust it in terms of ovulation prediction... Mainly because i only ever had 2 months of data on it , and now thats gone so starting from scratch again!
Im gonna go with hormones and how im feeling, haha yes she may as well take on her own identity!!

Quick question... i have a colposcopy due on wednesday... half the internet says its ok other half say not to get treatment if needed till after birth... My worry is what if i am pregnant, obviously i wont have a clue till after AF due, should i mention it to the dr that there is a possibility of being pregnant even though i would have literally only just conceived..possibly... Grin
Thing is my mom is coming with me for support (notes say to take someone) and she isnt aware we're TTC and i dont want anyone knowing yet...
anyone had one of these while TTC?

ExpectantPatronum · 22/10/2018 12:40

Tough one that. Do you have to check in when you get there? If so, tell mum to go sit down, and have a quiet word with the receptionist, and ask her to ask the colposcop-ist (whatever they're called) but tell them that you'd like to keep it on the down low.
