@Weasledee I don’t know - trying not to think about it too much! From the bit of googling I did on beta HCG levels at 9dp5dt, it would seem that 597 is highly indicative of twins, but of course everyone and every pregnancy is different! Also there’s obviously no guarantee that if there are two embryos both (or either!) will continue to develop so I guess I’ll just have to wait two weeks for the scan. As usual the docs are being very tight lipped - they never give anything away unless they are absolutely sure!

Rose68 · 22/10/2018 17:57

Cleo - I booked an appointment at a clinic last week, so hopefully the same will happen for you if you book an appointment!

Critter - sorry to hear the OHSS is still there, I hope it doesn’t cause you any problems, but WOW to getting a scan in 2 weeks time!

Cleozeta · 22/10/2018 20:13

Critter sounds promising that things are progressing nicely!

Rose - sounds like a silly question, but what did you book? A consultation? Or tests? Not sure where to start!

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 20:43

@Thanks @Cleozeta. Most clinics will offer an initial consultation package which includes basics like AFC, SA, ultrasound of uterus, etc. and advice on options after discussing your history. They will then likely ask you to get an AMH test and HSG done if you are interested in pursuing treatment.

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 20:44

Not sure where the extra @ came from there!

Rose68 · 22/10/2018 20:54

We went along to a free open evening at the clinic near us, at which they offered a deal for initial tests and consultation. The tests include AMH blood test, baseline scan (I assume this is uterus and ovaries) and semen analysis. That would have been £325 including consultation. x

Cleozeta · 22/10/2018 21:35

Thanks Critter & Rose. Just had look at 2 local (ish) clinics, one of them had some great deals for young people doing IVF and they do initial tests but only really spoke of the youngs. The other one, which is a bit of a faff to get to (we don't drive) mentioned over 40's quite regularly, and are doing a half price deal on 2 types on initial tests & consultant package. Looks like its that place then!
So the next question is - do I go for the basic package - AMH, SA, scan & consultation for £200 or the comprehensive package - the above plus further screenings (no mention of what) HSG and a more indepth consultation for £400.
So, I don't mind paying more for the extra tests bit it seems the pricey thing in this us the HSG, but would I need that if I had a pregnancy at the beginning of the year so likely have no blockages? Or is it useful to have anyway?

Up to 70 now, nine BFPs in the last few months! That's a nearly 13% success rate! Summer clearly improved egg quality.

CritterTamer · 22/10/2018 22:13

@Cleozeta - I would say that the £400 package sounds very good - the HSG was £295 on its own for me, and my clinic insists on it before progressing with IVF treatment. For comparison my initial consult, including SA and scan with AFC was £150, then to progress further AMH test (£80) and HSG (£295) were mandatory, plus another £200 for the blood tests for HIV, hep C, etc.

Cleozeta · 22/10/2018 22:56

Thanks Critter, yeah it's a good deal. I guess I'm saving £400 rather than £200 so more free (so to speak!)
Let's see if I get the courage to sort it tomorrow.... eek!!

Russkispy · 23/10/2018 07:44

Just took the test and it's BFN. It's crap of course. But the fight is not over till I get there. Whatever it takes! Next IUI next month. In the meantime will get going with my acupuncture and reflexology and all supplements I've been taking for a while now.

Cleozeta · 23/10/2018 08:05

Sorry to hear that russkispy Sad

Rose68 · 23/10/2018 08:07

I’m so sorry Russkispy, sending you a big hug. xxx

Orchid222 · 23/10/2018 08:22

So sorry Russkispy. 🙁Hopefully next month will be lucky 🤞

😞 @Russkispy

Lumpy76 · 23/10/2018 09:04

Hello!! I’m back! CD1 after mmc - 5 weeks to the day. Feeling a bit weird...bittersweet. Glad my body has done the right things but... Also had 2nd birthday of our youngest so that was hard. Trying my very best to be positive about good things (eldest got her first offer from uni). Also trying to go all out on Xmas...

WishingonaStar77 · 23/10/2018 09:28

Morning all,
Fairly sure I'm out. Spotting started again but only very light. Ran out of tests so went to shops and picked up the first response rapid results instead of the early detection 😣 but either way there was the same faint faint line on those too.
Really not sure what's going on. I'm pretty certain it's a chemical but why isn't my period starting!! X

Cleozeta · 23/10/2018 09:36

Sorry to hear you had a mmc lumpy. It's such a distressing and upsetting time.
Good to try and focus on other things

Wishing - are you sure it's definitely a chemical? Maybe it isn't.....

Russkispy · 23/10/2018 12:09

Thank you ladies. Somehow I thought it wouldn't work as the dominant follicle was on the left. Both my successful IUIs/pregnancies were from the right. Coincidence?
IUI is now booked. Will be flying home on cd10 after taking Clomid.
And potentially IVF in December if IUI doesn't work in November.
I'm determined to get my BFP and successful pregnancy. Again giving my everything each cycle.

Presh12345 · 23/10/2018 12:34

So not long back from the clinic and it looks like it is the male factor that is stopping me getting pregnant. Anyone else managed with a low sperm count?

Everhopeful2018 · 23/10/2018 12:43

Can I join in? I'm 41, I'm on cycle 3 ttc after a miscarriage at 13 weeks in August. I'm 5po and driving myself crazy.....

CritterTamer · 23/10/2018 13:51

@Russkispy - I’m so sorry to hear this - I had high hopes for you 😢 it’s great that you’re not losing hope though - I remember how shitty and hopeless I felt when our last IVF cycle failed, it’s awful. Good luck with all the preparations for next month.

@Lumpy76 sorry to hear about your loss an£ welcome back to the thread.

Also welcome @Everhopeful2018

littlemimosa · 23/10/2018 14:10

Lumpy and Russ so sorry it’s not good news from you both. Big hugs.

Critter so glad all is going well despite the ohss. Hope it resolves very soon.

Welcome Everhopeful are you ttc your first? Sorry to hear you of your loss.

Just watched the Prof Winston clip that someone posted. Very encouraging for us all. The message really is more sex isn’t it....

Chatbash72 · 23/10/2018 14:16

Welcome @Everhopeful2018 @Presh12345 There are men's fertility vits they can take and I read that caffeine a couple of times a day is good for sperm.. think there is lots to read on line about for the boys.
Big hugs to everyone xx

Russkispy · 23/10/2018 14:49

@CritterTamer , thank you! It's disappointing of course. But must stay positive. It's not a failure but preparing the ground for pregnancy, as it were.
