After all that desert sand, we are in serious need of slightly damper place...

This one is a hamam, complete with essential oils and thick Turkish towelling bath sheets. Mosaics on the floors, marble pools. You get the picture. It still needs some decorating though.

We have had a few graduates (OK, quite a few), which is good, but time to dust off the old Hut for those of us who are still barren.

shit. the dye test is a HSG which i had on monday and i wouldnt have thought that would be applicable to you. having said that i sat next to a woman who is 41 (42 in 2m) and she is just undergoing investigation leading to ivf. cant believe he was so dismissive. for fucks sake, why do these people become doctors if they dont care about helping people. it makes me so angry.

lissie · 14/06/2007 16:00

i would have thought that high dose FA would have been one of the 1st things he'd look at. do you take low dose asprin?

lissie · 14/06/2007 16:36

soreheart, and other older hut dwellers, found a v interesting article here

Soreheart · 14/06/2007 16:42

FFS, was logged off again after writing mega llong reply. I was feeling sad enough as it was.
Now what did I say? Ahh Lissie, I do appreciate your anger on my behalf, I feel a bit of a limp lettuce really as I got a bit upset and this made me speed the meeting up. To be fair Ferty McExpert told me to slow down and not to worry about being upset. Things could have been much worse.
I think I should ask for the HSG, just to be sure, as although previous operation didn't reveal anything the op. wasn't for this reason (remove cyst and laser off endo). Was this a painful procedure? Did you get instant results?
I wimped out a bit on the low dose aspirin as well. He said that was for people who had a history of miscarriage (or something similar) and just nodded and made a note! Should have said, "Well, that's my experience of pregnancy over the last 6 years, even 'though' that's only 2 m/cs". I wonder if I can speak to my GP about that?

Soreheart · 14/06/2007 16:49

What the heck is 'lunaception'???? Sounds good, mind! Thanks for the link. This lady lives in Woodstock, NY State, Maaaan.
Hmm.. wonder where to find Red Clover? I will google that, I think!

Impatience · 14/06/2007 18:26

Soreheart, gotta dash out so no time to say anything other than PANTS. That's really shitty. xxxxxxxxxxxx

lissie · 14/06/2007 21:19

soreheart. i self-medicate 75mg asprin and its proven to help with problems conceiving as well as staying pg so (i spoke to my doc about this) theres no harm at all in taking a low dose asprin daily, to be safe.

the HSG was really quite painful, but it does have the added bonus of clearing your tubes and womb out a bit. i asked to see the pictures and got preliminary results there and then

Impatience · 15/06/2007 09:24

I might start on aspirin too, just for the hell of it. I had an HSG a couple of years ago and found it painless, so it won't necessarily be horrible! I need another one now too, and I've deliberately not booked it for this month because I can't TTC (exams etc) this month, and want to save the 'flushing out' power for a month I'll try! (That will also be the first month TTC in the last couple of years that I haven't been working full-time with non-sleeping baby and A Levels... I have high expectations for that month - fingers crossed!)

lissie · 15/06/2007 09:29

fingers crossed. my doc was v positive about taking asprin. tbh (tmi alert, sorry) ive been spotting since monday, rang up the fertility nurse and she said it was all the gunk from my tube coming out. ttc is gross!

Impatience · 15/06/2007 11:01

I must have been TTC for too long: I don't find that gross, I find that fascinating!

Do you take the asprin every day or just some days of the cycle? Are all asprins alike (apart from dose) or is there anything in any of them I should avoid?

lissie · 15/06/2007 14:07

i take it every day, started off just taking it in the 2nd half but since your ov dates can be wrong have started taking it throughout cycle. you can get asprin over the counter thats for people who've had strokes here i think they're all the same. its to prevent clotting of the blood which can stop you conceiving and cause early mc

Impatience · 15/06/2007 14:26

Thanks!

duchesse · 15/06/2007 20:35

Sorry for being so monosyllabic at the moment, girls. I have been very busy with work since the beginning of May, and am actually quite tired at the moment.

Have to take it easy next week as we are having two Spanish boys for five weeks, and they arrive on Sunday, so have decided to work a lot less next week while they're settling in again (they came last year too).

I am of course pretending that if someone rings me with a job I shall simply turn them down, which frankly is unlikely, given my record...

Hi folks
sorry that its been so long but have been lurking outside the new hut - very nice thank you duchesse - like the fluffy towels (wraps one round head like turban and reclines on a lounger - one of those lovely heated from within ones...)

now listen Soreheart - calm down - 43 is still pretty good! Ive seen loads of stories recently of people beyond 44 conceiving naturally never mind with IVF. I panicked when I passed 45 birthday in April cos thought the clinic would say no way to IVF but they dont....you just have to find one that works well with you. My consultant told me a recent success story of a 46 yr old with donor eggs who did IVF in Spain at the Marbella Clinic (good success rates apparently). We dont want to go for donor so are trying again with my eggs in July or August. The success rate is poor yes - but someone has to get the 1% and why not us??

Lissie - I too am on 75mg asprin - self administered after reading stuff on this forum - I take it throughout the cycle. Consultant is fine with this and the Keto DHEA but oddly enough told me to steer clear of the reflexology???? In the one month that I had that, I had a horrendous AF that month - weird or what? But he does recommend accupuncture.

good to hear Beansprout is doing well and nice to hear from you too Impy.

These sun loungers are sooooooo relaxing I think I'll take a kip!

ps any news from Chocolatedays - keeping my fingers crossed for you CD and hoping little embeddies hold tight.

Chocolatedays · 16/06/2007 09:06

Hi - thanks for asking after me.
No news - though we are coming to terms with accepting success is very unlikely. We have started to talk about our next round of IVF which feels constructive IYSWIM.

We are trying to find out possible reasons embryos stop dividing - so we can research them and aske better questions at the next consulation. Any ideas? Any of you on other sites (I'm also on Fertility Friends) - if so would you mind asking the question. [Our two fertilised eggs stuck at two cells by day 3 embryo transfer.]

Thanks - sorry to be so self centered at the moment - I think you understand.

Impatience · 16/06/2007 09:56

DEFINATELY understand you being focussed on your own stuff Chocolatedays: we all take it in turns! This is big stuff you're doing. I wish I had some magic tricks to suggest, but I just don't. Good luck. xx

Impatience · 16/06/2007 21:19

Absolutely inconsequential except to my pride, but my temps have stayed high this month since period, leaving me with that tantalising tease but misery because all the tests are neg, my cm seems to be reappearing etc etc. Point is, I ran a really hard race today, and as I started to flag badly that pissing awful little voice in my head whispers 'maybe it's because you're pregnant, you shouldn't push it...' So I did pretty badly in the race and am embarrassed. Bloody f'ing TTC is ruining EVERYTHING.

Harumph.

duchesse · 16/06/2007 23:59

Actually, Imp, my betting is that your running is keeping your metabolic rate higher than it used to be, and that your temperature shift may be a lot more subtle than it used to be because your basal temperature has risen. Do you have a standard thermometer or a special fertility one? I beleive that the special ones go to 2 decimal points, which may be what you need now.

I must start running again. That's how I got pregnant last time. Not that it stayed, but still...

OP posts:
Impatience · 17/06/2007 11:22

Duchesse, I had wondered that. I have increased my running a bit over the last couple of months (since I started accepting that I would never conceive and started getting on with the rest of my life). I'm going to chart this month and see what happens. I do only have a 1dp thermometer, but dp has a 2dp one so I might borrow hers. We have a farcical start to each morning as we both lie there with beeping thermometers. Ridiculous!

Duchesse, you don't have to answer this and sorry if it's a harsh question: Would you rather never conceive again than conceive and lose it? I guess that the latter gives you hope but also devestating loss. How does it balance out? [gentle hand-stroking emotion]

Impatience · 17/06/2007 11:24

Crap! I didn't at all mean to suggest those were your only two options, Duchesse! Sorry for my clumsiness

duchesse · 17/06/2007 12:11

I would rather conceive again and lose it. Odd, I know, but it was actually easier to be carrying a failing pregnancy than this desperate uncertainty. At least I knew where I was, and I felt more "normal".

OP posts:
Impatience · 17/06/2007 13:06

That's interesting, Duchesse. Thank you.

Impatience · 17/06/2007 13:06

That's interesting, Duchesse. Thank you.

lissie · 17/06/2007 18:32

personally id rather never conceive again. with every mc i feel more useless and each one is more painful than the last. but that may be easy for me to say coz i have ds....
