Hi all,

I’m 33, DP is 36 and in second month of ttc#1. (Am fairly new here so don’t know all the acronyms). I have pcos so realise that might be a challenge but have a fairly normal 28 day cycle. I have been totally taken in by all the conception gadgets and have bought a Clearblue fertility monitor and am waiting for the Ava bracelet to arrive... mental I know!!

I find the 20 somethings in other ttc threads a bit intimidatingly young, perky and fertile, but recognise those in the 35 or 40+ threads may have different experiences, so don’t want to be an under-age imposter!

Anyway, if anyone is in the same boat and wants to share their journey (fingers crossed ending up with a BFP!) then post below... xxx

Congrats @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts that's a very strong positive! Xx

40cmsanta · 29/10/2018 10:04

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts that is wonderful! So excited for you. Congratulations!!

Welcome @PineappleC good luck for this month!

PineappleC · 30/10/2018 17:05

Thanks @40cmsanta 😊 Good luck to you too!

So currently 5 or 6dpo, cd19 and having period-like cramps on and off all day. Not sure if it's AF or just that I went a bit too hard with the sit-ups in the gym this morning 😂 Anyway, cd19 is bloody early so I hope my body is not too messed up after the pill!! 🤞

Syncope · 30/10/2018 19:14

Hello again all! Hope everyone is doing OK. Congratulations @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts, what a great line!

Welcome @PineappleC, it's such a pain when you've just come off the pill and have no idea whether your cycles are going to bounce straight back to normal or whether they'll be all over the place. Hope you're one of the lucky ones in your first cycle.

@mrsof20118 did you test at the weekend?

@40cmsanta hope the baby shower wasn't too bad for you and that AF hasn't turned up...

I'm (possibly!) about 5DPO today. If I'm right about when I ovulated then I've normally got very sensitive/tender nipples and breasts by about now but no sign so far. Told myself firmly that I wouldn't get my hopes up this month but I'm doing it again already. Grin

mrsof20118 · 31/10/2018 07:17

@Syncope af came last Thursday. Gave me a very short luteal phase hoping things settle now this month. Currently cd7 so getting on with dtd every other day from today.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 31/10/2018 07:44

@mrsof20118 good luck for this month! I've got my fingers crossed for all of you ladies.

Thank you everyone for you kind words. It still doesn't feel real. But it's very exciting and nerve racking at the same time. I've got no symptoms. It feels so surreal!

Seventytwoseventythree · 31/10/2018 07:54

Hello,

May I join please? I am 30 and DH 32, TTC #1 not sure I can really say what cycle at the moment as I stopped taking the pill 19th September and still haven’t had a period (except withdrawal bleed). Good luck to all of you and here’s hoping for a lucky thread 🤞.

mrsof20118 · 31/10/2018 18:50

Welcome @Seventytwoseventythree

40cmsanta · 31/10/2018 20:14

Welcome @Seventytwoseventythree. Hopefully it settles down for you soon.

I tested again this morning and got a BFN all symptoms pointing to AF in the next couple of days. A bit gutted as we felt we did everything "right" this month (BBT and UPKs). Just got to try again next month!!

mrsof20118 · 31/10/2018 21:40

@40cmsanta it gutting for sure. Not out entirely until af shows though x

Syncope · 03/11/2018 10:24

@mrsof20118 ah I'm sorry. Hope this month is going OK!

Hi @Seventytwoseventythree hope things settle down for you soon. I had the same when I came off the pill, although hopefully it's starting to settle down a bit now.

@40cmsanta has AF showed up? Hope it's stayed away. It's so frustrating when it feels like you've done everything "right" and have nothing to show for it!

About 9DPO for me. Just impatiently waiting. Grin

40cmsanta · 03/11/2018 12:39

@Syncope 9dpo argh, now it gets really agonising to wait.

AF arrived for me yesterday. Temp dropped in the morning and it arrived in the afternoon. I'll be away from DH for ovulation this cycle, which is really disappointing Sad. May get to DTD 4 days pre O, so that us something

Pickupthephone · 03/11/2018 13:36

Can I join too? This thread is a great idea. I’m 32, trying to conceive no. 1. DH is 32 too. We’ve been having sex without contraception for several months but without actively trying to time it - nothing’s happened so we’ve now been ‘trying’ properly for a month (no luck yet!)

Can anyone recommend an OPK? I’m unsure whether the expensive gadgets are worth it - are the sticks just as good?

Best of luck to everybody on here Smile

mrsof20118 · 03/11/2018 15:03

Sorry to hear that @40cmsanta. It's still possible 4days before ovulation so you have a good chance.

Welcome @Pickupthephone i had the ovaview cheap ones from Amazon and worked great. Really cheap at around £8 for 50 so can test multiple times a day if aren't sure exactly when ovulating. I ran out and tried some other cheap ones and the control line hardly gets dark.

Syncope · 04/11/2018 18:56

Sorry to hear AF arrived @40cmsanta, hope you're feeling OK.

Hi @Pickupthephone, welcome. Can't advise on OPKs and monitors as I'm trying to avoid getting drawn into that for my own sanity! But best of luck to you.

mrsof20118 · 11/11/2018 08:58

How is everyone getting on and what cd are you all on now? Tww for me.

Hadaley · 11/11/2018 10:33

Hi! Can I still join or has everyone moved on from this thread? I'm new, 33, husband is 34 and we are TTC our first. (I'm sorry in advance for lack of acronym knowledge).

I've not been on birth control for seven years (condoms all the way), but I did have to get off medication. I have an auto-immune disease and my regular meds are not compatible with baby making. This also means we are feeling a lot of pressure to conceive soon, because the longer I am off my meds, the more likely I'll be causing longterm damage to my body. It doesn't help my cycles are really long - between 33 and 36 days usually. I tried to track ovulation naturally for a while, with body temping and cervical mucus - but unsurprisingly this is all over the place.

Anyway, all traces of meds have left my body now, and this is our first cycle really TTC. Used Clearblue OPKs and tested positive for an LH surge on the 3rd of november, so I guess I am about 7 days DPO? We managed to DTD the evening before my LH surge (happy timing) and did it the evening of again for good measure, so the odds we hit the window are fairly good I think!

Of course like a fool I am symptom spotting; I had a lot of acid reflux on Friday, strange cramps and aches. On the other hand, I get hellish PMS every cycle with all sorts of symptoms (and I have an auto-immune condition so lol weird things happen in my body all the time).

Plz send baby dust. Thanks ;-)

Syncope · 11/11/2018 14:03

Hi @mrsof20118 how are you doing? Hope the TWW isn't dragging too much! When is AF due?

AF turned up on Friday for me. Disappointing. On the bright side, it was a 32 day cycle, exactly the same as the cycle before, so hopefully my cycles are back to normal after coming off the pill. Silver lining!

Hi @Hadaley - symptom spotting is the worst, isn't it?! I was even getting my hopes up based on the absence of symptoms this month, as I didn't get my usual mid-LP breast tenderness and pre-AF headache. Hmm Grin TTC will drive me mad! Fingers crossed for you.

Hadaley · 11/11/2018 14:50

@Syncope - Sorry about AF, but regular cycles returning is good news! Also, 32 days is pretty ideal in terms of length, so hopefully it will work out for you soon. Fingers crossed this will be your month!

And yes, symptom spotting is awful. Mine have vanished now, mostly, and left me with my usual post-ovulation acne flare-up, so it was probably just a mild cold virus. I guess we won't know until we know!

No idea when to expect AF - I ovulated much earlier than expected (on day 15, so if I get a normal cycle for me in terms of length that would make a luteal phase between 18-21 days). Or perhaps my cycle will be short this month, and she'll come maybe next weekend? I have no idea when it would be OK to test either! How do other ladies with irregular cycles do this? Do you test two weeks post-O, or use your average cycle length to calculate the likely date AF would arrive?

mrsof20118 · 12/11/2018 20:49

@Syncope sorry about af. At least can start afresh and the first two weeks go a lot quicker with all the dtd that needs to take place. 5dpo for me and symptom spotting like crazy. I ordered a batch of digital weeks indicators last month off groupon. Good job they are not as sensitive as i would probably be tempted to get one out and test in the next few days. Going to wait until Sunday and do a FR

mrsof20118 · 12/11/2018 20:49
