Hi all,

I’m 33, DP is 36 and in second month of ttc#1. (Am fairly new here so don’t know all the acronyms). I have pcos so realise that might be a challenge but have a fairly normal 28 day cycle. I have been totally taken in by all the conception gadgets and have bought a Clearblue fertility monitor and am waiting for the Ava bracelet to arrive... mental I know!!

I find the 20 somethings in other ttc threads a bit intimidatingly young, perky and fertile, but recognise those in the 35 or 40+ threads may have different experiences, so don’t want to be an under-age imposter!

Anyway, if anyone is in the same boat and wants to share their journey (fingers crossed ending up with a BFP!) then post below... xxx

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I used a clear blue digital dual kit (tests for two different hormones). It was my first month using it and I got solid smiley (sign of ovulation) right around the time I should. I think it would be particularly helpful if you aren't regular.

I am so paranoid that I am not ovulating that tracking this along with other symptoms (BBT, CM) is helpful.

40cmsanta · 19/10/2018 08:11

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I'm 1 - 2 days dpo, fingers crossed this is our month!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 19/10/2018 08:42

I've been got one of these (second hand, I hope that's okay )
I've not got a clue how to use it or what strips I need to purchase to use it?

@40cmsanta cycle buddies, let's hope it's lucky for both of us!

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts that looks good! Here's hoping that you don't need it!! Smile

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 23/10/2018 08:16

I hope not. I keep having dreams where I'm pregnant.. probably just wishful thinking 🤔

40cmsanta · 23/10/2018 08:52

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts here's hoping it's not!

Im feeling a little defeated already. I know it sounds absurd as I am only 5-6 dpo, but I'm not getting particularly positive "vibes" (I hate myself for using that word Blush).

As much as my BBT and OPK showed ovulation, I felt nothing - not a sausage, and believe me I am looking for it! Usually I would get a fair amount of discomfort.

Only time will tell! We are going to do a FRER on Sunday (due the following Friday). Is anyone else an early tester?

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 23/10/2018 09:12

@40cmsanta I'm going to try not to test. Really don't have the money to be poas constantly.

I feel normal. So I'm sure I can't be. I know it sounds silly, but surely I'd feel different, if I was?

I'm irritated at how I'm over thinking everything!

mrsof20118 · 23/10/2018 13:18

@40cmsanta hands up over here for being a serial and early tester.

I'm 7dpo and think I may test Sunday. I had cramps all day yesterday x

40cmsanta · 23/10/2018 14:26

@mrsof20118 I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

I have usually started with breast tenderness by now but I have nothing. I guess if it is not normal it could be a good sign, but I am trying desperately not to overthink things. Just like @ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts said, it's annoying how I torment myself in the TWW.

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 27/10/2018 00:04

When's best to test for a reliable result?

Currently 10 dpo.

My last 3 cycles have been 25,28 & 29 days.

Is it worth testing in the morning? Or should I wait a few days?

mrsof20118 · 27/10/2018 08:08

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts I would try a first response early result. X

40cmsanta · 27/10/2018 09:29

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts @mrsof20118 that's the test I will be using tomorrow. And I will be doing it in the morning.

Do people prefer to pee directly on the stick, or into a glass? I have used a glass in the past so that I can retake the test if the test fails. However something has started to bother me - the FRER says that using both methods, you only expose the test to the urine for 5 seconds. Other tests (CB) you have 5 seconds for direct pee, and 20 in the glass!! This has been bothering me a bit...

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 27/10/2018 10:04

I couldn't wait till tomorrow.. so impatient..
not sure if I'm seeing things? Or if what I think I see is in the wrong place.. what you think @40cmsanta?

40cmsanta · 27/10/2018 10:20

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts wow that looks good to me!! I am not familiar with that test, but it looks like a line in the second window - hoping that's the right place to look! Do you have another to test again tomorrow morning? Eeek I am so excited for you!!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 27/10/2018 10:37

Eeeeek! I'll wait a couple of days and test again. I won't believe it till I've got a clearer positive! My OH wants me to wait till I've missed my Period. Going by my last few cycles could be another 3-4 days

40cmsanta · 27/10/2018 10:59

If I were you I'd be bouncing off the walls now!! Make sure you let us know as soon as you test again x

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 27/10/2018 13:34

I guess I just don't believe it's positive yet! I'll update when I test again x

mrsof20118 · 27/10/2018 15:23

@40cmsanta i iust pee on the stick!

mrsof20118 · 27/10/2018 15:23

@ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts looks promising so let us know how you get on with the next xx

40cmsanta · 28/10/2018 07:28

BFN for me this morning (10dpo). Trying not to feel too disheartened. Im not due till Friday so there is still time. I'm off to a baby shower today and got my hope's up that i might get some good news to make me feel especially excited during all the present opening, games etc. Never mind!!

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 28/10/2018 08:28

Definitely still time @40cmsanta. Keep us updated. I've got my fingers crossed for you

PineappleC · 28/10/2018 10:43

Hello! Hope you don't mind me joining, I'm 32, DP is 39 and TTC #1 - came off the pill a couple of weeks ago and think I'm around 3DPO (not tracking anything other than CM and ov pains though atm 🤔).

At the moment I'd be happy just to have my cycle go back to normal this month (trying not to put too much pressure on myself!). Probably very little chance of BFP first time! Saying that though I'm sure ill still feel that same horrid disappointment some of you have talled about if/when AF shows up!

Thanks for starting this thread - this one feels really positive 😁xx

mrsof20118 · 28/10/2018 12:55

@40cmsanta you are not out yet!

@PineappleC welcome! You never know you may catch the first month. Something about being hyper fertile when coming off the pill I think?! X

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts · 29/10/2018 06:51

So after my OH saying I shouldn't do another test for a few days. We went out last night in search for a test so I could do one this morning.

I was really desperate for a pee at 4am and this was the result!

Obviously very early days but I'm excited now!

PineappleC · 29/10/2018 09:15

@mrsof20118 Thank you 😁 That would be great if so, but trying not to expect too much! Have more ewcm at 4dpo which apparently is a sign of low progesterone, so think I need to do some more research 🤔

ForTheLoveOfDoughnuts - massive congrats!!!
