Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

That's sweet @NeverHadANickname ! I know, hopefully next Mother's Day will be the year for me ☺️ hope you're all getting on ok. Sorry if I have been quiet but I just have no news 😂 just tootling along. Hoping AF will arrive on Friday - Natural Cycles predicts it for then, so I hope it's right and my cycle is back to normal already. One less thing to worry about!

mussie · 31/03/2019 18:11

How's everyone doing?

What happened there 😂

dottydally · 01/04/2019 07:35

@NeverHadANickname so pleased your results came back low risk.

Belated Mother's Day to all!

@mussie other than horrible nausea I'm good thank you! I can't believe it's April already though. You must only have a month or so to go?

I've got a busy week at work this week which is both good and bad. It's good because I'm on countdown to my scan and midwife appointment (just over a week now!) but not good because the nausea means I struggle to do anything quickly.

I'm thinking about ordering sea sickness bands out of desperation but they all look so bulky. I want something discreet. Does anyone have a magical idea I've not considered? Sad

RandomUsernameHere · 01/04/2019 16:40

I wonder what that comment was about Confused
@dottydally I'm guessing you've probably tried ginger already, and lavender. Other than that no suggestions I'm afraid. Hope you start to feel better soon!

mussie · 01/04/2019 21:51

@dottydally yeah I think it's mainly ginger that people find successful! Hope you feel better soon. Yes, it's not long for me now! About mid May. The time is flying, it really is. I'm having lots of fun with drinking and eating out. Very much on a mental holiday! How about sea sickness bands under long knitted sleeves?!

dottydally · 01/04/2019 21:59

@mussie @RandomUsernameHere It was a video about getting certain people to join the police, strangely. I may have reported it as spam - not sure it's really relevant here!

@RandomUsernameHere I hadn't considered lavender! Is that a thing? I've tried ginger tea but I'm investigating ginger drops, if I can stand the taste! How are you doing?

@mussie Yay you are now halfway! You'll be agonising over ttc before you know it. Jealous of all the drinking not an alcoholic. What's your drink of choice?

Good idea! I'll dig around in my wardrobe and see if I can find long sleeves. I'm just awful for pushing them up as they annoy me Blush

mussie · 02/04/2019 06:59

@dottydally definitely sounds like spam. I tend to drink beer, but I am branching out a lot and I even had a couple of cocktails at the weekend 😅 totally delicious, but I had a bit of a sore head the next morning. I think I'm probably just going to have a chill night tonight, maybe run a bath 🛁

My mum used to swear by ginger biscuits 😂 if you would like a sweet treat remedy

dottydally · 07/04/2019 13:03

Just checking in to say we had our private early scan today. Everything looks spot on for my dates and I've got a nice little photo! It's definitely very real now Blush midwife appointment Tuesday!

mussie · 07/04/2019 21:37

Oh congratulations @dottydally ! Hope the midwife appointment goes well ☺️

How did the midwife appointment go @dottydally ? Hope everyone is getting on well ☺️

dottydally · 15/04/2019 10:50

@mussie it went really well thank you. I had my height/weight done (BMI 20.7 so very happy!), my blood pressure and had blood taken. Also answered 1000 odd questions about us and our families. DP came, I think he was bored but it was nice to do it together. I'm classed as low risk so we talked about giving birth at home no chance and a midwife led unit. It all feels very early to be thinking about that!

I'm a little over 9 weeks today so desperately waiting for my 12w scan letter. Counting down until I know things are ok and can tell people. Probably won't tell work until 14/15w unless it's becoming obvious though.

Had a bit of a meltdown yesterday as I'm so anxious about things going wrong. We had a lovely scan at 8w with a good heartbeat and the right measurements. No bleeding or pain and I still have symptoms but a MMC is my biggest fear. I have a few friends who have experienced them so I think I'm too aware in some ways of all that can go wrong.

Anyway, how have you been? It's all been very quiet on this thread, hope you've not all disappeared Blush

mussie · 15/04/2019 14:13

Haha, don't turn down a home birth out of hand! They're lovely. Hope your scan letter comes through soon. It'll not give you much notice for getting the time off work! Is it easy for you to get time off or will they be suspicious do you think?

I'm doing ok - CD11 today, and can start TTC again after this cycle, so not much longer to wait!

dottydally · 15/04/2019 14:33

@mussie I think the idea just panics me a bit in terms of pain relief. Whilst I plan to go as natural as possible, I'm aware this is my first pregnancy and everyone says it's awful pain so I want the option.

My MW appointment was last week so I'm expecting the letter this week. If it's not here by the weekend (when I'll be 10w) I'll chase it up. I don't know if they're suspicious to be honest! I'm hoping it helps that there's so many bank holidays/school holidays over the next few weeks that lots of people are away. I have been measuring myself though and have gained 1 inch round my middle and 2 round my boobs. Not noticeable to anyone but me but enough to make me self conscious Blush it's scary to think how quick the weeks are going at the minute. I am also starting to feel a bit more human which helps. Weeks 6-8 were horrendous Envy(not envy).

I'm so happy for you! You don't have long to go now. Are you getting excited about being able to ttc again? Remind us what you have been up to to keep yourself busy?

mussie · 15/04/2019 21:24

@dottydally oh that's true, the holidays send everything into chaos so a few appointments here and there won't stand out. Glad you're feeling better now!

I'm in Copenhagen just now for a week, and it's lovely - cold, but sunny and dry so can't complain. Doing lots of walking! It's absolutely extortionate though, like £4-5 for a coffee, so we're going to have no savings left after this 🙈 but hey ho. We'll have at least nine months to save up money again before a baby, if not longer, so I'm not fussed about throwing a bit of caution to the wind and enjoying ourselves. Especially holidaying in a baby-free way - it's not long until we're not able to spend a day in museums and go out for late night dinners! Do you have any holidays planned?

McHelenz · 15/04/2019 21:43

Hey guys, I've officially graduated 😀. Spent the day joining all the threads I fit in 😂

dottydally · 16/04/2019 10:03

@McHelenz welcome to the madhouse! You'll love it Grin how're you feeling about starting?

@mussie my scan date came in the post today! I'm too scared to out myself but it's a couple of weeks away now, so very excited. I'll take holiday I think.

You're such a jet setter these days! Plenty of time to save up (that is a lot for a coffee though!). Are you staying in a hotel or air BnB? Make the most of it! I can't drink now and am in bed by 10pm..

No holidays booked yet. Think we might stay in the UK. The food worries me a bit as I feel I need to be more careful now. I am a sun worshiper usually but the midwife said I'd have to be careful as baby is 2 degrees warmer than me, so I can't overheat. Think that rules out my usual holiday where I'd normally sweat it out in the sun with a cocktail!

McHelenz · 16/04/2019 10:05

Bit nervous and excited. Feeling a bit deflated seeing as I was shrugged off last night. Hoping OH is more amenable tonight!

dottydally · 16/04/2019 10:25

@McHelenz it was like that when we started ttc. Our first attempt was 'abandoned' halfway as he was so tired. It got better though! I did also wonder if he felt the pressure of it all at the start. So I chilled out a bit and we had more fun. We still dtd regularly but a bit more when we felt like it!

NeverHadANickname · 16/04/2019 15:18

I lost the thread again! Need to read back. I had a hospital checkup last week and all was fine, recorded the heartbeat on my phone which was lovely. My next scan will be just shy of 19 weeks in about 3 weeks time.

Hope you are all doing well!

NeverHadANickname · 16/04/2019 17:43

I am having issues with posting pictures so I am just using this thread as a test run for using a computer rather than my phone on the app, hope you all don't mind!

mussie · 16/04/2019 21:25

@dottydally we're in a studio apartment, found it on booking.com. It's ENORMOUS and I really don't understand why it was so cheap 😂 fully expecting to start finding dead rats or something but all good so far. And that is intriguing advice from your midwife! Not something I have ever heard before. I think listening to your body usually works anyway - you'll probably find you get more dizzy and sick when you get hot than you used to, so that's a good sign to hydrate more and spend more time in the shade. You can try Cornwall or something and see how you get on 😁 glad your scan date came through!

Welcome back @NeverHadANickname , lovely picture 😂

NeverHadANickname · 16/04/2019 21:29

Haha thanks @mussie MNHQ have informed me that we can not post pictures if we use the app on android 🤷‍♀️ I did not know that.
