Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

@dottydally progesterone does weird things to the body, including gastro intestinal discomfort. Deffo sounds like normal early preggo symptoms as it floods through your body. Movements wouldn't be felt until around 16 weeks earliest. Hopefully it eases off soon, I remember feeling like that at that stage!

I'm feeling really pissed off as my nausea has returned!! I can't bloody believe this. I'm back to fighting the urge to throw up after dinner every day now, it's been happening past few days. Eurgghhh I've been preggo forever I'm so fed up already Sad

@rollerskaterdata @NeverHadANickname I think it's gas. I just ate and feel rubbish again Sad

@rollerskaterdata I feel for you. I've not got any sickness yet but I've completely gone off food. It's annoying as I think things will be really nice but I don't think I've finished a meal yet.

@NeverHadANickname I don't know what to suggest on the pain Sad would the heat pads ease it at all?

I don't want to moan but I hadn't realised how hard I'd find early pregnancy. I'm so anxious about things going wrong and it's hard to not say anything when you feel like crap! Hoping my scan in a few weeks will ease the anxiety a bit. It will also get easier once my mum knows after Mother's Day. I know I'm lucky though!

rollerskaterdata · 19/03/2019 10:00

@dottydally oh hun moan away! Don't feel bad. Early pregnancy is shite. It's physically and emotionally draining, even though late pregnancy is tough IMO nothing rivals the shittiness of early pregnancy symptoms and you can't even tell anyone! After 12 ish weeks it will get easier but not completely 😂 just a whole other set of symptoms and worries. But you know what? Your body is doing an amazing thing, you are growing an entire new human being from scratch who will soon be born, and walk and talk on this earth! Mind boggling when you think about it. Pregnancy is not easy but it's so worth it, and we're entitled to moan and simultaneously stand in awe at what our bodies can do x

I could try @dottydally but I'd have to pretty much sit on them and pull them up the front if you see what I mean? Keeping active seems to help somewhat but annoyingly my sickness is back.

I also know exactly what you mean in your very tame (compared to my corkers to DH) moan. I researched so much about pregnancy and I know they are all different but this is SO much harder than I anticipated at this stage. The period pains, the constant sickness and now this pelvic pain. I expected some sickness and tiredness but this is all on another level. You moan as much as you need to, you are growing another human and it is HARD.

dottydally · 19/03/2019 15:54

@NeverHadANickname @rollerskaterdata you both make me feel so much better. I felt like I was tempting fate if I was moaning and 'ungrateful' but it's hard! I am so grateful and amazed that it's possible to grow a human but at the same time I miss my energy. I also feel a bit like I shouldn't moan yet as I don't look any different so it's easy to think there's not much going on. My apps tell me lots is happening behind the scenes though!

@NeverHadANickname Would swimming help? It won't help sickness but it's low intensity and might help with the pain.

NeverHadANickname · 19/03/2019 16:01

@dottydally I find myself saying 'I'm obviously really happy to be pregnant but...' I have waited so long to even be in a position to even try so feel ungrateful sometimes.

Swimming is a great idea! We have outdoor pools here in the summer and I'm sure an indoor one somewhere. We just moved to the area in January. I love floating around in the bath so I think that's the way forward. Thank you 😊 keep saying I need to move more too. I wonder if they do any pool fitness classes 🤔

dottydally · 19/03/2019 16:13

@NeverHadANickname yes! It makes it better if you start with 'I'm happy but...'

I don't know what sort of things you have there but they do water aerobics here. So you are doing more than swimming lengths but the water takes a lot of the weight and strain away. I keep thinking I might buy a swimming costume as I do find it relaxing (all I have are holiday bikinis). I went back to see my PT yesterday. He went easy on me as I did tell him I'm pregnant and swore him to secrecy but I'm dying. Literally dying. Lazy night on the sofa tonight I think. The worst bit was trying to get a sports bra on over my sore boobs.

On that topic, when are they going to grow? I'm desperate for that perk having been a C cup all my adult life!

NeverHadANickname · 19/03/2019 16:17

@dottydally I haven't put any weight on but can not wear my normal bra! It digs in everywhere! I am having to wear my non wired very unsexy 'lounge' bra that I usually just wear round the house when I'm being lazy. So I'm not really sure but I think I'm generally swollen in that region. They are so sore though, especially my nipples. By boobs aren't ginormous but it feels like they must stick out about 2 foot the way I keep knocking them on things 🙈

dottydally · 19/03/2019 16:23

@NeverHadANickname 'razor blade nipples' as they are affectionately known in this house now. I go bra-less as soon as I get home every night and have a non-wired but socially acceptable one that I have been wearing for work. I need more as I can no longer wear my wired ones but I'm reluctant to buy them if I'll get bigger soon. We will see!

I don't think I'm any different weight wise but I do feel yuck and bloated. Roll on a proper bump so I can look cute until I turn into an elephant.

dottydally · 19/03/2019 16:36

I would also appreciate an opinion on how to break the news to my Mum. I'm telling her on Mother's Day but don't have any kind of scan photo yet and I'd rather not give her a pregnancy test as it seems gross to give her a stick I've peed on Blush

Options are:

  1. A cute babygrow with something written on the front (there is a 4 babygrow shortlist)
  2. A bottle of something with an apology note for the fact I can't share it with her
  3. A card with something funny on it
NeverHadANickname · 19/03/2019 16:45

@dottydally I like all of those options! Would be nice to keep the babygrow. I'm finding it hard to pick one though. We told my parents early because they were visiting and got a chalkboard that said '..... weeks until we are grandparents' and filled in the weeks bit with how long I have left. It'll be their first grandchild so wrapped it for them to open. I can't decide on how to tell the MIL, I'm leaving that to DH to research so not much help I'm afraid! Decision making is not my strong point at the moment.

Jelliestogether · 19/03/2019 18:36

@dottydally I also like the baby grow idea as it's something the baby could also wear when it's born e.g. the first time it visits their house or something.

This week (now 18 weeks) I've finally put on 1kg from my pre pregnancy weight. Also could be holiday weight too, as just back from a week away. So pretty happy about that as was worried about putting loads on! I'm also thinking of starting aqua aerobics too! Want to keep as fit as possible!

rollerskaterdata · 19/03/2019 19:46

@dottydally at nearly 30 weeks preggo I STILL have razor sharp nipples and I've given up thinking they'd go away after first trimester. My boobs are ginormous (I'm an E/F cup pre pregnancy anyway), I'm already in my nursing bras as I can't sleep without a bra now. DH can't keep his eyes/hands off them even though I keep flicking his hands away because they hurt! I feel bad though as he is sex starved ATM (I'm so huge can't get comfortable in any position!). TMI but last night we went to a confident birthing class and as part of it partners had to massage the mums as they would during labour. DH got an erection doing it and wouldn't stand up when requested to do the next exercise until it went down 😂😂 mortifying and hilarious all at the same time!

I love both the baby gro and bottle idea, can't decide which is better/cuter! Go you for being imaginative, I literally sent my mum a pic of my pregnancy test 🤣

@Jelliestogether you're brave. I don't weigh myself anymore! 🙈

OP posts:
dottydally · 20/03/2019 15:35

@NeverHadANickname that's a good idea too! I hadn't though if that. We have more than one set of grandparents to tell so I will keep it in mind. Nobody else is finding out until I have had my 12 week scan though.

@Jelliestogether well done on the weight gain (or lack of!). Do you have much of a bump?

@rollerskaterdata ok I won't expect them to go any time soon then. We haven't had sex since we were ttc as I really don't feel like it. I think some of that is worry though and I'm hoping I relax after a scan. I know he can't hurt the baby though!

You lucky thing being an E. I have always wanted to be bigger. I'm longing for the cute bump stage!

That is brilliant! Your poor DH though. I do feel for men in those situations as they don't necessarily have any control over those things! How was the class?

NeverHadANickname · 20/03/2019 15:52

We talked last night and we have ordered a babygrow in plain white with 'guess what?' Written on for the MIL 😊

@dottydally we have only Dtd twice since finding out. I'm sleeping so much more and feel sick most of the time but I'm starting to miss it a lot now.

dottydally · 20/03/2019 16:14

@NeverHadANickname no way! I ordered the same thing this morning. I'm going to put it in a box so you can only really see the 'guess what' and see how she reacts!

dottydally · 20/03/2019 16:28

Send help. The man next to me on the tube has just opened strong crisps. It's packed and I have nowhere to go. Oh the smell Envy (not envy)

NeverHadANickname · 20/03/2019 18:02

@dottydally that's what we will do 😊 you just reminded me I forgot to get a bag/box while out. Oh well, I'll be out again before Sunday.

I think in your current situation it would be socially acceptable to be sick all over him 🤢

dottydally · 20/03/2019 18:18

@NeverHadANickname who are you telling on Sunday?

Jelliestogether · 20/03/2019 19:09

@dottydally ugh train smells are the worst! Yeah I've got a bit of a bump. Been I'm jeggins since 10 weeks and proper maternity trousers since 15 weeks.

NeverHadANickname · 20/03/2019 19:19

@dottydally all the inlaws. One stepson knows, other two will find out on Saturday (they are all adults) so MIL and all her family will be round at ours on Sunday for a 'house warming party' and we'll tell them then. We will tell MIL with the babygrow and she'll make sure everyone else knows I'm sure. They are my DH's step Mam and family but are all very close and all the family he has now really. Once they all know my parents have the green light to tell who they want 🙈 I'm not big on attention or big announcements so hope they don't go mad.

rollerskaterdata · 20/03/2019 20:28

@dottydally I think I can count on one hand the amount of times we've had sex this pregnancy (although not necessarily through lack of trying!). I've spent most of it being sick and exhausted due to my anaemia, and I'm now huge, and can't be bothered trying to get my body in the right position as lying on my back is not advised now. DH is scared of squashing my bump in the process so is hesitant himself, but the desire is there - think realistically we won't be doing it again until after baby is born and I've had my 6 week check! He he yes, I was sniggering to myself when it happened in the class! It was really good thank you, learned a lot even being a STM. Got our refresher antenatal course at 33 weeks then we're all brushed up!

Argghhh train smells! Yuck! Hope you managed to stomach it 🤢 why do people eat smelly food on the train?!

OP posts:
dottydally · 21/03/2019 09:13

@Jelliestogether is it bad I'm excited for a proper bump that I can show off?

@NeverHadANickname good luck! I'm sure it will go well. What do you think your stepsons will say? I'm so excited to tell my mum but the weeks are dragging!

@rollerskaterdata I'll keep that in mind. It must be tricky when you are so much bigger, and exhausted, and sick! I hope he laughed about it afterwards. Antenatal classes sound fun! I've got a countdown to my first midwife appointment which is now 19 days away. Seems so far Sad I have made a fatal error today though. I've got a beautiful skirt on but it's highlighting every bit of bloat in my belly. I know I won't have a bump for a while yet but I got bloated really fast. I don't think it's obvious to anyone but me but I'm still panicking.

You may all be pleased to know I wasn't sick on the man on the tube. It just doesn't help as it gets so hot anyway and I'm already feeling a little off. He got off two stops after I posted so I breathed a small sigh of relief. Roll on summer when it's sweaty and hot instead Envy I think by that stage I'll get a 'baby on board' badge or are they naff?

rollerskaterdata · 21/03/2019 09:45

@dottydally it's hard isn't it, those first 12 weeks drag. Have you got plans or things scheduled to pass the time more quickly? I feel like time generally goes a bit faster after the first trimester (not massively so in my case though 😂) and then slows down again once you hit week 30 and your final countdown. I'm 30 weeks today and trying to plan things to help time pass quicker but my gosh how do I still have 10 weeks left??! 🤣

I personally don't feel the baby on board badge is naff, serves a purpose in my opinion. It helps dispel the "is she, isn't she?! " worry that people have and generally people will offer you a seat without you having to ask. And just generally (hopefully) makes people more careful and courteous around you. I say go for it if you want one, I never travel without mine!

OP posts:
Jelliestogether · 21/03/2019 15:47

I have a baby on board badge, I don't often travel in rush hour so I only put it on when travelling in rush hour.

Eek not long @dottydally till help make time go a bit quicker when you start getting appointments. My 20 week scan is on Tuesday!! Although I'll only be 19+3.

@rollerskaterdata have you experienced any numbness or pins/needles in your legs? I've rung the midwife just waiting for a call back
