Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

@rollerskaterdata hopefully tomorrow's will be as good or better! I'm not sure how I rate the internet cheapies as they've all been completely negative (though the last one I did was on Thursday). I'm going to do both tomorrow to compare! I've already considered an early scan as I'm a natural worrier but I think I'll see how it goes. When am I meant to contact my doctors?

November will be nice! It just means Christmas will be busy Blush remind me when you are due? It was over a year to wait which was horrendous. I was so happy for everyone who did get pregnant but it made me sad watching you all move on.

I was trying to act all cool after my little cry. ' Oh yes, no big deal, just two lines on here'. He was similar though in that he was groggy when I put the stick in his face. He asked me if it meant what he thought he did. I said yes! We then went on to discuss how I avoid drinking at the next family party (just a week away. . .). Any suggestions welcome!

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 07:53

Ah so pleased for you @dottydally :)

dottydally · 10/03/2019 08:47

Thank you @Pinkroseuk!

I saw your last update, how are you feeling about IVF now? Sending hugs Thanks

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 08:50

Thanks @dottydally.
I'm not sleeping well and DH still won't talk about it. I'm not feeling quite so bad about it but I know he wants 2-3 kids and if I need IVF for all then it could be expensive. I know we need to take it one step at a time though so think I'm gonna get my weight down first then see. Wish he would just sit and do some research though!

dottydally · 10/03/2019 09:01

Oh no @Pinkroseuk Sad is he still trying to take it all in? It's a lot to have to think about. Will you get any funded cycles?

You need to get your weight under 30 right? How much do you need to lose to get there?

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 09:12

He says there no point in talking about it till my weights lower but I think there is!
Yes we should get it funded by the NHS so that's a great help. ( we couldn't afford private). The only things I have heard so far have been from my mum who had treatment years ago and she's told me all the bad bits!
Yes she has BMI has to be under 30 so I need to get to 73kg and now on 88.7. Started off at 105 a year ago so I'm about half way I think. If I don't hit it within 6 months though we have to redo all the tests apparently as they won't be valid anymore.

dottydally · 10/03/2019 09:15

@Pinkroseuk I agree with you! We talked about ttc months (over a year) before we actually started. It's good to have these things clear in your head.

There are lots of IVF threads on here, maybe they can help tell you about the not so grizzly bits?

You've done amazingly well so far! We are all right behind you and will be here to support/encourage all the way. Could you set monthly goals?

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 09:22

Yes we did too - DH wanted to start trying a couple of years before we did but we put our sensible heads on and waited till we were in a better financial position and now wish we hadn't!
I will try to pin him down today (not literally!) and have a chat about it.
His SIL and 18 months old is coming Tuesday too and neither of us get on with her but parents are bring her over to see us! I think that's putting strain on us atm too as she criticised everything last time we saw her so neither of us are particularly looking forward to it!
Yeah I'm going to try and join some of them today and hear some better bits too!
Thanks for your your help and support - this is what's keeping me going atm. We're going to Italy on the 23rd so aiming to get to 85kg by then as my first goal.

dottydally · 10/03/2019 09:35

@Pinkroseuk good luck pinning him down! Let us know how it goes. It might just be that he is scared. Men are often not vocal when they are worried!

Not good that his SIL is so judgemental but it'll be nice to see the little one. Hopefully it's not too painful!

Well we are here for laughs/cries/moans so you're in good company! What a lovely goal to have. What will the weather be like when you go?

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 09:41

Will do thanks @dottydally.

Yes it will be nice to see them as it's been about 14 months since we last did so she's going to be a lot bigger!

It's looking like about 17-19 degrees- so nice weather for walking about and sightseeing without being freezing or boiling!
Currently trying to buy some new clothes for it as everything is way to big that I own that's remotely summery :)
We don't often do abroad holidays (usually camping in uk) but we thought with the delay of a baby it would give us a nice break and a good time to go :)

rollerskaterdata · 10/03/2019 11:31

@Pinkroseuk Italy sounds lovely, I've been in March before too and it was just beautiful. Hope you have an amazing time! @dottydally is right, you've done so well to lose so much so far and we are all here cheering you on

@dottydally any pics from this morning to share? Grin I think you can contact GP as soon as you know and they'll tell you when to contact the midwife, normally they won't see you until you're about 8 weeks though. I know it differs in different areas though, some the midwife will contact you once you let your GP know, others you need to contact them. Best to ask the GP and go from there!

I'm due end of May, not too long now! I can imagine it was hard being the last one standing but clearly worth the wait! Promotion and now baby! Smile re drinking tips, buy your own drinks and get something that looks alcoholic but isn't Grin

Thanks @rollerskaterdata :) were really looking forward to a long weekend away :)
The support is amazing on here:)
My 'hit 90kg' goal proesent has arrived this morning - a new bin! It's the £200 Joseph Joseph one that DH found for £69 apparently so he bought it!

Wow that time has gone quickly @rollerskaterdata :)

NoseringGirl · 10/03/2019 12:04

Congratulations @dottydally brilliant news!!

dottydally · 10/03/2019 12:10

@rollerskaterdata photo from this morning attached.

I think I'll call them Friday as long as things are ok then. They can tell me what I need to do. I know our doctors surgery has midwife appointments there too so we'll see. 12 weeks seems such a long time away but an 8 week booking appointment isn't so bad. We are also going to tell my Mum on Mother's Day in 3 weeks which breaks it up a bit. Otherwise we are keeping it a secret!

Yes it was carefully planned! I've achieved so much at work in the last year I'm happy we waited. It was hard going but it puts us in the best position. It means I can go down to 4 days and earn more than I did pre promotion. Sadly it's at someone's house so they'll be insisting on making us drinks. I'm wondering if I can drive but it might be suspicious. DP suggested antibiotics but I said that's the worst excuse going!

You're getting so close!

@Pinkroseuk oooh that sounds lovely! Enjoy your treat, and what a good idea to have treats every time you hit your goal!

@dottydally I do love a comparison pick Wink can you tell I'm a POAS addict?! All looking good, and must be soo nice to see that 'pregnant 1-2'! I think telling your mum on Mother's Day is a wonderful surprise, how lovely! And I understand keeping it a secret until 12 weeks, although I was rubbish at that too Grin totally understand waiting so you're in the best position, that's why we waited so long too and have a bigger age gap between kids than most. Still, now I can enjoy my own house and good job and DH's good job without worrying myself sick like last time! Bless him though, as much as DS was an ill timed surprise I love him to bits and would do absolutely anything for him, can't imagine him not being here!

dottydally · 10/03/2019 12:54

@Pinkroseuk yay for the bin! The JJ range is amazing.

@rollerskaterdata yes! Today's is darker than yesterday's and the CB really made me happy. One more for this week when I will hopefully get my 2-3 and I'm done with tests.

I thought I'd tell my Mum as I will want to ask her things in the next 8 weeks I'm sure! I've been on Pinterest to figure out how to tell her. She knows it's on the agenda but I think she'll be surprised (as we are) that it happened so fast. She got pregnant with me first time too though.

How did you tell people? I completely understand. You wouldn't change DS but I know I'd constantly fret if we weren't in a secure position. We always said we'd be okay if a surprise happened but because I'll be happy saying it was completely planned (if only they knew quite how planned!) as the assumption will be that this was an accident. . . I'm bracing myself for the questions. Not so much from my mum but everyone else!

rollerskaterdata · 10/03/2019 13:04

@dottydally that's it, I needed my mum (and MIL) for support from the get go so they both knew straight away both times. And they're both amazing, when I had bleeding at 8 weeks with this baby and DH was working abroad, my MIL drove over an hour to be with me, drove me to my early scan and then took care of me for the rest of the day - she's awesome! It's funny how conception times differ actually, my mum took over 3 years to conceive me and I fell pregnant with DS accidentally and then this baby second cycle, you just never know!

I mostly just told people by sending them a pic of the test lol! Not very inventive but I was too excited Grin

Ha ha I get you, I've had both a surprise pregnancy and a planned one and get asked about both understandably!

@rollerskaterdata I daren't tell DP's mum until I'm 12 weeks as she would blab! Your MIL sounds brilliant. Not like most MILs on MN who are hated!

Wow 3 years? That's a long time. I'm still in shock that it's happened so soon for us. I wish there'd been a camera on my face when I turned it over. Such a glamorous moment, sat on the toilet playing on my phone trying to kid myself that I wasn't counting down the seconds!

I've seen the cutest baby grow on Etsy. I'll think about it in a couple of weeks!

Did you get asked the question with you second?

cupcakesandglitter · 10/03/2019 16:11

Ahh @dottydally lovely lines, I bet it's so surreal for you!! Massive congrats - and that baby grow is so cute 😂 x

dottydally · 10/03/2019 17:22

Thank you @cupcakesandglitter! It doesn't feel real if I'm honest. I think that's why I keep testing! I'm going to call the doctors at the end of the week and ask what I need to do.

The babygrow is pinned as a potential idea! We know where my time will be spent from now on. . .

RandomUsernameHere · 10/03/2019 19:03

Congratulations @dottydally !!!
@Pinkroseuk sending hugs Flowers

Pinkroseuk · 10/03/2019 19:06

Thanks @RandomUsernameHere :) trying to stay positive :)

cupcakesandglitter · 10/03/2019 19:26

@dottydally I can imagine, enjoy every second xxx

rollerskaterdata · 10/03/2019 20:26

@dottydally yes tbf I've been quite lucky in that MIL and I get on great, we had a rocky start but deffo grown to respect and like each other a lot over the years. Our DS adores her which is lovely, and she him! Absolutely love the baby grow, great find! Etsy is great, I've picked up a few bits and pieces for the nursery from there. Love how you're mentally shopping already! Not asked too much given I'm still pregnant but I reckon in the course of time the Qs will increase lol!

Thank you @cupcakesandglitter & @RandomUsernameHere!

@rollerskaterdata that's brilliant! I love DP's Mum other than the fact she wouldn't be able to keep her mouth shut. Not for any malicious reason she'd just be too excited!

If everything is going ok I'll get it in a couple of weeks. I don't want to jinx it! We own one baby item (a sports babygrow) which DP bought last year.

I didn't know if you'd been asked when you announced, people ask the strangest questionsBlush
