Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

@dottydally that's a great way of doing it, one day at a time. I definitely found the TWW and knowing when to test the worst part of the whole TTC experience, I would literally dream and think about testing all day every day until my official testing day lol Grin you're doing great! Hang in there. Month 1 is deffo the worst in terms of excitement and anticipation - remember month 1 for me I took it 'easy', got AF, was an absolute mess and then threw EVERYTHING at month 2 despite saying I would be chilled for the first few months??!! 😂😂

I'm doing ok thank you, 28 Weeks this week so entering my third trimester! I'm already tired and huge and slow, getting through the next 12 weeks is going to be interesting! 🤣

@rollerskaterdata I nearly caved earlier but had you in the back of my mind telling me it's pointless and to get a grip!

It is literally on my mind all the time. I might kill DP if I hear the words 'it'll happen when it happens' once more! He is so relaxed it makes me mad. Did you get your BFP on month 2? I can't remember!

28 weeks! Wow! Exciting to be almost in your third trimester though. Do you have your names picked out?

rollerskaterdata · 05/03/2019 15:37

@dottydally LOL at me being the little voice in your head! It's sooo hard but so worth an extra day or twos wait so you don't have to worry about line eyes 🤣

Arrghhh my DH was like that, so frustrating isn't it??! My DH is so laid back he's practically lying flat and it drove me crazy! Pays off now though when I'm pregnant and worry about every little thing, he's like 'everything's fine don't worry' and keeps me centred! Yes I got my BFP cycle 2, I was shocked to say the least!

We know we're having a little girl so we have a first name but not her middle names yet (choosing one for each of our different cultures) and it's those we're struggling with! Funnily enough our son's names were easy to pick!

@rollerskaterdata yes, you were right there telling me just to go for a wee like a normal person BlushI'm working late tomorrow anyway so hopefully that will put me off until Thursday. Then it's only one more day, right? 😩

It literally makes me want to scream. He has been ready for this for so long yet it doesn't seem to be as all consuming for him? I never understood how it could be like this but now I know. He is otherwise great though. He keeps me grounded in life which I think I need sometimes. I am the queen of overreacting sometimes! You lucky thing, cycle 2!

Which cultures are you choosing from? I obviously think my name is brilliant and would recommend it for any little girl. . . It's not dottydally though of course! It might be outing, but dally was my nickname as a child. Its very similar to my actual name. I couldn't pronounce the first letter so it got replaced with a D and I became Dally. Obviously I use my proper name almost all the time now (especially at work) but my Mum still calls me Dally sometimes if I'm sad/ill/in need of attention!

rollerskaterdata · 05/03/2019 17:41

@dottydally ha ha love it! And such good logic, Friday will be here before you know it! If you test early don't beat yourself up though, I certainly won't because it's soooo tempting and hard not to!

I think because men don't have to physically do anything apart from, ahem, provide their 'specimen' they literally don't think about it apart from when you're DTD! Keeping us centred is so important though so at least they're contributing something! 🤣

I'll out myself if I'm too specific but I'm from Africa and DH is European. I know that's incredibly vague lol but we both fully respect and embrace each other's cultures so it's incredibly important to us our DCs have a name from each. We're both struggling to pick a name from our own cultures though 😂 as D day gets closer the pressure will be on though! And childhood nicknames are the best, my mum still calls me mine and I still call my brother by his and he's in his mid 20s!

dottydally · 06/03/2019 07:28

@rollerskaterdata I've made it to Wednesday which was my original suggested day to test. Not sure how I'll get to Friday or Saturday! I feel like I've counted myself out in my head as I just don't feel any different. Also aware how stupid that is when I'm only 8/10DPO. I'm meant to be working late tonight so it's unlikely I'll do one tonight. Maybe I should do it in the morning if I will cave - then it's Thursday and will be my first wee of the day!

I think that must be it. He's not obsessing over whether his body is doing what it should! Once he is, ahem, done, it's over for him!

It sounds great to have a mix of different cultures names. Are you thinking 2 middle names? Nicknames are the best, it still makes me feel calm! Does your brother have any children?

rollerskaterdata · 06/03/2019 09:41

@dottydally lots of women don't feel any different or get any symptoms until they're 6+ weeks pregnant, with my DS I didn't until then! I was so unaware of being pregnant I was drinking and everything. Deffo don't count yourself out yet, it's that old adage - you're not out until AF arrives! Well done for holding out until today, Friday you'd be 10/12dpo so a good window to test but if you cave tomorrow that's fine too!

Yes two middle names, it's surprisingly hard! No my brother is a fully fledged batchelor lol, children are the furthest thing from his mind!

OP posts:
dottydally · 06/03/2019 13:39

@rollerskaterdata that's helpful, thank you! Worst case scenario it'll be tomorrow morning. But even then I might not have time (I'm sort of hoping I don't). AF due Tuesday next week I think. I have FRERs in my bedside table but I'm absolutely not allowed to touch them until the weekend.

It's just you on the grandchildren front then! Is your brother good with children though? He can be the fun/cool uncle!

How are things? @mussie @Pinkroseuk @NoseringGirl @cupcakesandglitter @Jelliestogether

cupcakesandglitter · 06/03/2019 13:43

Hey @dottydally things are same old up here - we're actually not TTC anymore (which is why I've been a bit quiet on threads). Had a CP (BFP Xmas day, AF on NYE). Just focusing on losing weight and eating healthier etc - not using any protection but no pressure or expectation at all to have sex and get pregnant I guess 🤷🏻‍♀️ how are you? Xx

NoseringGirl · 06/03/2019 14:30

@dottydally no change here, no ovulation, no AF and I'm on CD36 of this cycle. Feeling a bit down about it all but I've got a doctors appointment tomorrow to discuss it.
I hope AF stays away for you!

dottydally · 06/03/2019 14:53

@cupcakesandglitter I'm so sorry to hear! I hadn't realised. Hugs to you.

Hope everything is going well and the no pressure approach is helpful! How is your weight loss/getting healthier going?

I'm ok thank you, incredibly tired today - I hate Wednesdays!

@NoseringGirl how does 36 days compare with your usual cycle length? Good luck tomorrow!

rollerskaterdata · 06/03/2019 15:14

@dottydally yep, just me producing grandchildren lol. I've got two younger sisters too but they're much younger (teens) so not thinking about kids yet either!

OP posts:
NoseringGirl · 06/03/2019 15:55

@dottydally before the early miscarriage last summer my cycles were around 26 days, since then they've been a lot longer. The longest was over 90 days and the last one was 54 days so anyone's guess at the moment. I've been getting a lot of AF type cramps during the cycles but for no apparent reason. I do have PCOS but it was well controlled for a while.

mussie · 06/03/2019 19:47

@dottydally I'm getting on ok, thanks for asking. Proper exhausted by being back at work. But then I keep staying up to 10pm to watch good TV so it's my own fault 😂 The last couple of days, the bulk of my working day has been 3pm-5.30pm, which is just exhausting and means my unwinding/switching off doesn't start until after 6pm. Tomorrow, I scheduled my main meeting for 10am, so that if I get tired as the day goes on I can just go home and have a nap ☺️ and then hopefully feel relaxed enough at 9pm to just take myself to bed. Fingers crossed!

Well done for holding out so far on testing 👏 IMO there's no point using anything other than FMU, so you only have to resist temptation for thirty mins or so after getting up! I mean of course it doesn't HAVE to be FMU, but for me I would want to be able to compare lines to look for progression every couple of days, and you can only do that reliably with FMU samples. Best of luck holding out a little longer 🤞🏻

@cupcakesandglitter glad it's not just me who's stopped TTCing! I'm going to try and use the time to lose weight as well. Do you think yoga will help? Yoga is the only class I like but maybe it's a bit gentle.

@NoseringGirl sorry to hear your cycles are still all over the place. Hope the doctor can give you some answers, or at least a good plan.

dottydally · 07/03/2019 09:07

@NoseringGirl sorry things are a bit erratic at the minute. Hope the doctors are helpful Thanks

@mussie what good tv is there? I swear we sit down every night and there's nothing on Sadwhat do you do to unwind? I know some people think exercise helps you to unwind but it seems to just wake me up! Fingers crossed for a 9pm bedtime tonight.

I caved last night stupidly and it was a BFN. No idea why I expected anything else at 9pm on what was possibly only 8DPO. I will wait now until Saturday morning, FMU and will treat myself to a FRER. I'm a bit disappointed in myself to be honest! I also feel like it won't happen first go as no one is that lucky, so I'm desperate for cycle 2. I know how ridiculous that is as I'm not out yet though!

mussie · 07/03/2019 11:23

@dottydally no good TV?! We watched celebrity bake off and then Derry Girls. DH is from NI and is usually a fairly quiet soul, but Derry Girls makes him cry with laughter! We're just finishing the American office on prime, and Star Trek discovery on Netflix. Personally (I am home a lot more than him so get through a lot more TV) I am watching call the midwife and death in paradise on iPlayer. About to catch up on great British sewing bee too, hadn't realised it was on again! And then watching 'Workin' Moms' on Netflix, which is HILARIOUS. such a long list makes it sounds like I never move from the sofa 😂 no wonder I have 7lb to lose. Good luck for Saturday 🤞🏻

dottydally · 07/03/2019 11:39

@mussie I am missing out! We watch Masterchef and normal/celeb bake off (though I've not seen it yet so no spoilers please!) but that's about it! No wonder we feel like there's never anything on. We did watch Luther too and I was sad when it ended. If you have any suggestions that are like Luther please let me know, there is a hole in my life now!

Since when do you have 7lb to lose?! I love cosy nights on the sofa. We have nachos for tea (healthy I know) and will catch up on things. I've done a lot of that lately as I've been so tired - I'm only managing 2 nights a week of HIIT. I might give yoga a try at home for a bit of stretching and relaxation. I downloaded an app and everything!

Thank you! Will report back Saturday morning!

rollerskaterdata · 07/03/2019 11:46

@mussie I LOVE call the midwife, always gutted when it ends although can be a bit scary to watch when you're pregnant yourself! 😂

@dottydally don't worry hun we've all been there! The urge to test is worse than trying not to scratch an itch! I do love a FRER, like you say wait til Saturday to use it and it'll be even more satisfying 😏

OP posts:
dottydally · 07/03/2019 12:02

@rollerskaterdata @mussie I've never watched call the midwife, but I do love and cry at OBEM!

cupcakesandglitter · 07/03/2019 12:49

Thanks @dottydally I'm actually okay - I've not lost any weight but I'm trying to make an effort to be more proactive. We've got plenty of things in the house that need sorting so I'm putting more of an effort in on them. Eating healthy is going well, I've started to cook more vegan dishes and cut out a lot of meat because I think that's our downfall! I'm glad you're well - TGIF tomorrow!!

@mussie yeah I couldn't bear the madness anymore either 😂😂 I'm on another thread full of new fertile people and I felt like I was drowning in BFPs and positivity etc etc - I've needed a break I think! Can't say the TWW is any easier though, but my first month off and AF turned up 10 days early 😐 fantastic. Yoga doesn't really help me lose anything actually BUT I would definitely continue it because it's soo good just to relax and have a proper stretch. Also it's good for fertility hahahahaha

@rollerskaterdata I've never watched call the midwife!!! Tell me more 😃 I'm obsessed with WBEM, I cry every single time 😂

rollerskaterdata · 07/03/2019 13:17

@cupcakesandglitter @dottydally I like OBEM too but for some reason can't watch it at all while pregnant, it freaks me out I think! And I've given birth before 🤦‍♀️ call the midwife is like a 'softer' version of OBEM with more focus on back story/plot and the lives of the midwives and others around them, as well as the women themselves. Addictive I find!

OP posts:
cupcakesandglitter · 07/03/2019 13:21

Oh that's good @rollerskaterdata it sounds like another binge watching worthy series 😃 I love hearing about the midwife - there was the Muslim lady Hana I think, from Liverpool? I found her hilarious 😂

NoseringGirl · 07/03/2019 15:30

@dottydally sorry for the bfn but like you said, unsurprising at that time of day so early on. I'd have caved as well though. I can never wait to test!

GP appointment went well. She's sending me for a scan and speaking to the endocrinologist about me restarting metformin. It's what helped me get pregnant with DS2 and I lost a lot of weight on it too so really hoping I get the go ahead for it soon.

mussie · 07/03/2019 17:19

@dottydally I gained like 3lb at Christmas that never went anywhere, and then being off sick for two weeks has given me the other 4lb 😂 I'm getting my steps every day now though, so shouldn't be too long before it's off. I can't stand OBEM - somehow it's less realistic than CTM 😂 I like how CTM gets to nitty gritty social and medical issues, and into the spirit of the community. OBEM is just a baby factory! Where there are never any placentas!! #rantover 😁

@cupcakesandglitter 10 days early! Man that really sucks. And you're right, the relaxation is good for something. As soon as I feel like I have energy in the evenings, I'll be off to a class.

@NoseringGirl great news about the metformin! I hope you can get started on that soon ☺️

Pinkroseuk · 07/03/2019 18:32

Hi all-
Sorry been crazy busy at work and coming home and just falling asleep!
How's everyone doing?
I had hospital appointment today and they have said IVF is the only way so have to phone them when my bmi is under 30. Need to have a good chat with other half tonight and see what we want to do...
