Hi lovelies!

A thread for the graduates of those who were waiting to TTC and are now actively trying, or very soon to be actively trying! Apologies if I've forgotten anyone or tagged the wrong people, please do join in or join later as necessary! Hoping we can continue to support and keep each other sane in this TTC madness!

@NeverHadANickname it sounds you have very thorough care over there! I feel like we go ages between appointments here, they only pick up and become more regular in the third trimester, only becoming every 2 weeks after 34 weeks. Second time mums (like myself) go from 16 to 28 weeks without seeing their midwives which is ages! First time mums have a 25 and 31 week appointment which second time mums don't have. I do though because I had gestational hypertension at the end of my last pregnancy and they want to keep a closer eye on me this time. I wish it was the norm to be seen every 3-4 weeks throughout. I'd love to be kept updated on your appointments. Do you have more than 2 ultrasounds? X

NeverHadANickname · 02/02/2019 19:31

@rollerskaterdata yes I hadn't stopped to compare the 2, I suppose I will get seen a lot. It is technically private healthcare here so they'll probably do as much as they can get away with with the insurance company. Everything I have seen says 'at least 2 ultrasounds' is normal. Next one will be around 18-20 weeks I believe but I'll find out more when I go for my first. We don't want to find out the sex anyway 😊

NoseringGirl · 02/02/2019 21:54

@Pinkroseuk well done on losing a stone! I'm still trying to get mine down. It's slow going! Is it clomid they're going to give you?

@mussie enjoy that beer! I do hope AF stays away though and that you're managing to keep distracted.

@rollerskaterdata I lost a fair bit in a first 2-3 weeks but it's slowed right down as it usually does. Trying to keep myself motivated. My in laws brought cheese cake round this evening and I resisted it! Glad you and baby are okay after the fall! Hope you're not feeling too sore.

@NeverHadANickname I had cramps and random pains in my pregnancies with DS1 and DS2. It made me nervous but it's just the body shifting things around and hormones doing their work.

NeverHadANickname · 03/02/2019 08:33

Thank you @NoseringGirl despite spending literally years doing as much research and planning as I can I feel completely out of control now I I'm here and can't stop worrying. Its 03:33 here and I have already been awake for a couple of hours.

Pinkroseuk · 03/02/2019 10:00

Thanks @rollerskaterdata
@PastaSauceHoarder yes I am proud but still have so far to go! I think I would be the same as you needing the scan ASAP! Let us all know how it goes :)

@NoseringGirl how are you getting on with the weight loss? Can't remember how much you had to loose? Yes provera and clomid. We have considered private as I don't think there as strict about weight but would ideally like to save the money for maternity leave :/

Hope you have managed to get some sleep @NeverHadANickname

rollerskaterdata · 03/02/2019 10:15

@NeverHadANickname ahh ok that makes sense, and 2 ultrasounds is comparable to over here. Do post us a pic of your first one! And try not to worry, I know it's easier said than done though. Remember the odds are overwhelmingly in your favour that everything will be just fine xx

@NoseringGirl plateaus are the worst, I remember them well when I was trying to lose weight after having DS! Well done on resisting the cheesecake, can't say I'd have the same willpower Grin

OP posts:
NoseringGirl · 03/02/2019 10:36

@Pinkroseuk I've got about 10kg to lose to get back to the weight I was before DS2 but ideally would like to drop 20kg. Feels like a long way to go though!
I think clomid is a fairly cheap medication but the monitoring that a private clinic would want to do along side it might be a bigger cost. My DS1 is a clomid baby and that was through the NHS. I didn't have any monitoring at all which looking back was probably a bit risky! It was my GP that prescribed it to me while we were on the waiting list for the fertility clinic. She was going to give us 6 rounds but I got pregnant on the 3rd. We were very lucky with how relaxed she was with prescribing it. I'm not sure they're allowed to do that anymore.

@rollerskaterdata thanks! I go through phases where the willpower kicks in and I just have to make the most of it while it's there. Focusing on wanting to have another baby rather than that slice of cheesecake helps!

NeverHadANickname · 03/02/2019 16:55

Thank you for the reassurance everyone. I appreciate it so much.

dottydally · 04/02/2019 08:19

@Jelliestogether lovely to see you too! Congratulations as well, such exciting news Smile

I'm impatiently waiting for AF here. I'm definitely not pregnant but do wonder if stress has delayed things. I spent 2 weeks abroad with work in January which was great but awfully stressful. Currently on day 33 and crossing my fingers. Once I get past this we can officially ttc. It's so frustrating that worrying about her no show could make her later. Argh!

rollerskaterdata · 04/02/2019 18:09

@NoseringGirl deffo great motivation!

@dottydally I hope she shows up soon, I remember well willing my period to start when we were ready to TTC so we could begin that fresh cycle. When it does it's very exciting and official! It was also weird knowing that that would be the last time I'd be happy to see her for a while!

OP posts:
dottydally · 04/02/2019 21:04

@rollerskaterdata I hope so too. I've been mega grumpy today poor DP. I also keep getting little pains but nothing major, hoping she's nearly here! This is the last time I will be happy to see her!

How are you getting on? I meant to say, did you PM me? I remember you saying you might but can't see messages on the app Sad

Pinkroseuk · 05/02/2019 19:03

@NoseringGirl no it seems there's a lot of monitoring at my hospital!
I have a day off Friday so might enquire about private costs. It's also tempting to order online but you never quite know what you are actually going to get.

rollerskaterdata · 05/02/2019 21:00

@dottydally it's all practise, I'm a grumpy cow now anyway being pregnant 😂 the second trimester glow didn't happen for me, I'm a few days shy of 24 weeks and I'm still nauseous (only stopped actually being sick about 2 weeks ago), tired, spotty and feeling huge already. Also got a nice tooth abscess (never had one before!) thanks to blasted hormones ruining my teeth and gums so now on antibiotics. Other than that I'm peachy! 🤣 rant over! Sorry, bet you wish you never asked now!

OP posts:
NoseringGirl · 05/02/2019 22:16

@Pinkroseuk I understand the temptation to order online. I've considered it myself before. Probably not worth the risk, as you say you don't know what you'll get and there won't be any medical supervision. Definitely worth looking into how much it would be privately. You don't lose anything by asking!

Pinkroseuk · 06/02/2019 08:33

Thanks @NoseringGirl. Yes think I will give them a call tomorrow and see what they have to say :) we have a very small amount of money in savings which we were going to keep to get nursery things but could use it now if we needed.

dottydally · 06/02/2019 15:23

The witch is here! I am finally on CD1, cycle 1.

@rollerskaterdata you make me so excited for that to be me. . .

mussie · 06/02/2019 17:26

Congrats @dottydally!! And so it begins ☺️ are you starting out chilled or going for full throttle charting and OPKs etc

PastaSauceHoarder · 06/02/2019 17:39

Ahh brilliant @dottydally, seems like you've been waiting forever to officially start TTC!! 🎉

Lots of baby dust, I hope your TTC journey is a mega short one! Smile

dottydally · 06/02/2019 18:25

Thank you!

@mussie I'm not sure. Part of me wants to be relaxed and just let it happen but the other part is desperately impatient! What did you do? I haven't bought OPKs so maybe I can stay that way. I think my personality could easily become quite obsessedBlush

@PastaSauceHoarder fingers crossed! How are you doing?

NoseringGirl · 06/02/2019 20:28

Yay @dottydally welcome to TTC!! The fun starts now Grin

mussie · 06/02/2019 20:39

I did two months before I started all the tracking. I had aimed for at least three months, so I thought two wasn't too bad going! I could take or leave the whole checking your cervix and CM thing, but I've found the BBT tracking really fascinating. Will probably use BBT as postpartum contraception, it's quite easy then to switch back to TTC mode for baby #2 when we're ready! Cannot explain the thrill I got when my luteal phase lengthened by one whole day last cycle 😂

rollerskaterdata · 06/02/2019 20:43

@dottydally hehehe you did ask! And yaye, congrats on officially TTC! Time has flown and now your journey starts here, I'm so happy for you! I hope it's a short one. I think I'm quite like you, first cycle I was chilled and when AF arrived I went the complete other way and went full throttle on cycle 2! Didn't take long for the crazy to come out did it Grin haha!

PastaSauceHoarder · 06/02/2019 20:59

Its definitely easy to become obsessed with TTC @dottydally, even from the moment you start! Blush I jumped in head first but I know thats not always everyones cup of tea.

I'm good thank you, though the tiredness and morning sickness has majorly kicked in this week! Feeling incredibly grateful though so really can't complain. Smile

NeverHadANickname · 06/02/2019 21:06

Pleased to hear that @dottydally when I first started I was convinced I'd be chilled about TTC but it only took 1 or 2 cycles for me to get ovulation sticks, a thermometer and download an app 🙈

dottydally · 06/02/2019 21:15

@mussie 3 months sounds like a good goal. If I've had no luck by May, I'm allowed to take this a bit more seriously. Before then, you all have permission to shoot me if I suggest it. You need to be my willpower! How are things going for you?

@rollerskaterdata I did! And I'd rather people were honest about what I'm trying to get myself into. I have a bad feeling that I'll be really sicky which I could do without. I work in quite a high pressure environment and it'd be noticed if I was off my game Blush

@PastaSauceHoarder you went straight for extreme tracking? Credit to you! How long did it take? Not good that you're feeling sick and tired but you do have a very good excuse!

@NeverHadANickname You are literally me. I have the app but that's all so far so we will see!

So, being very new to this, how often should we be having sex?Blush
