'Ello, Ello!

38, trying seriously for 18 months (off pill 2 and a bit years) MC last October. IVF referral in the bag. DP wants to 'give it another 6 months' - that was May.

CNizzle · 20/08/2018 17:39

Hi everyone! Hope you don't mind me joining, im a long-time lurker.
Im 38, been "officially ttc" #1 for 8 months, but off the pill (cerelle/cerazette) for about 18 months, with a www while of actually trying to avoid at the beginning.
We were referred to nhs infertility clinic by my gp a month or so back, but a i got told was to keep trying. Lose weight (bmi 33 and really struggling to lose it) & we'd get an appointment for HSG sometime in next 6 months. In the meantine, OH needs to get his SA done. Which is proving to be an issue getting him to go. Anyone else struggling to get their partners to take it seriously? I'm starting to feel like with every passing month, my innards are drying up, and hes not seeing any issue.

TheNewbieStep · 20/08/2018 18:49

@CNizzle

Yes! I hear ya!
DP has two DC from previous... he thinks his sperms are fine and therefore it's me! Dragging feet with the man-tests! X

TheNewbieStep · 20/08/2018 18:50

@Russkispy

Do you mind me asking how you found IUI and did you conceive with first go?

Russkispy · 20/08/2018 19:47

@TheNewbieStep , I had my both IUIs back home, at the IVF Riga clinic. Both were successful from the first time. With my first IUI I was taking Clomid, had 2 dominant follicles at 20 ams 21mm respectively, then Ovitrelle trigger followed by IUI. BFP 2 weeks later and my DD is 14. I the now. With my second IUI I was on Clomid again but didn't respond well to it, follicles only grew up to 11mm. Then I was injecting Gonal for a couple of days and had 2 dominant follicles 21 and 22mm respectively. Again has Ovitrelle trigger and IUI. 2 weeks later had BFP. That was end of May this year. 6 weeks scan showed a heartbeat although they measured me a week behind. And at 8 weeks scan there was no heartbeat. Pregnancy stopped after the first scan. I was Gutted, of course. But not giving up just yet. Scheduled for my next IUI next month but might postpone it till October. Unless I get BFP this month! Time will tell!

BambiOnIce80 · 20/08/2018 19:55

Hi ladies 👋 I hope you don't mind me joining you?

Age: 38
TTC (this time round) : Cycle 4 & 8DPO. AF due Sunday.
Previous TTC: 39 cycles with the ex 5 years ago and a diagnosis of unexplained primary infertility. Got all the way to getting the go ahead for IUI and then we moved, closely followed by divorce 🙄 In hindsight, very glad I didn't waste my free shot at assisted conception on that relationship!

Got that sinking feeling with each cycle that goes by that my infertility diagnosis has followed me into my new relationship 😔 Really hope they don't make me repeat absolutely every step of the testing again 😣 I don't see how the HSG findings would've changed at all, but I guess I'll find out in a couple of months if still no BFP...

Melamine · 20/08/2018 22:17

Hi all, thanks for starting the new thread @Blondcat.

I’m 37, had a MMC at 11.5 weeks in April. Conceived that on about the 5th go (wasn’t trying super hard until the cycle it actually worked. Now on 5th cycle post MC as well. 4th day of flashing clear blue OPK today. Fingers crossed for us all!

PixieN · 20/08/2018 23:15

Hi ladies - thanks for starting a new thread @Blondcat. I’m 36 and have been ttc for about 8 months. 3dpo, but pretty sure this month has been a write off as i’ve been away during fw. Booked in for a blood test to check progesterone levels this week and DH also advised to get tested. He’s not too keen though! What is it with men and Drs/tests? lol

Russkispy · 21/08/2018 07:25

Been using clearblue advanced digital OPK, got static face on CD18 (stayed for 48 hours). Never had it that late in a cycle before MC. So not sure how long this cycle will be then?! Around 3-4dpo now. Never been a POAS girl and will just wait for AF. Fingers crossed never arrives!

Chelonia · 21/08/2018 08:11

Morning / evening all
Age 39 next week :/
TTC "properly" 5 months but "seeing what happens" for 4 or 5 months before that.
DP has 2 children from when he was 18/20 but that's 20+ years and many kilos ago, we have the pot for his sample sitting waiting on the side but yes not desperately enthusiastic about doing it!
Started this whole thing all carefree and not really paying attention, have now deteriorated to cheap OPKs, temping, Pre-seed, grapefruit juice, ALL the vitamins and fretting about short luteal phases. Vaguely planning to book fertility consultation with specialist in a couple of months if no joy - we moved to NZ last year and the whole system is a bit different here.
Just sitting on the sofa procrastinating about going to Pilates when I'd rather stay in tonight and drink hot chocolate!

Ladybug82 · 21/08/2018 11:45

Hi everyone
I’m 36 ttc #1 had my implant out in March got my cycle back very quickly. On my blue days on the flo app and had a flashy smile on clear blue so fingers crossed this month is the month. Getting a bit down at how long it’s taking ttc. Seems everyone around me is pregnant or just had a little one. Sending baby dust to you all.

WhatWouldPennyDo · 21/08/2018 13:32

Hi,

First post here! I'm 35, trying to TTC without success on and off for the past 6 years. Just gone through a variety of blood tests, scans and an HSG. No explanation for it, save that HSG displayed very low ovarian reserve.

We're back to see the Consultant mid Sept. looks like it might be IVF for us now.

And in typical fashion it seems all my friends are getting pregnant or pregnant again!

Melamine · 21/08/2018 13:50

I’m still getting flashing faces on CBD OPK. Day 14 of cycle so my theory of being bang on average is not true so far! Just as well since OH just doesn’t work well when under pressure so this morning attempt was unsuccessful. I fear this use of OPKs will be more trouble than it’s worth.

Melamine · 21/08/2018 13:51

Welcome LadyBug & Penny. Fingers crossed for you x

Oxted2018 · 21/08/2018 14:34

@melamine I was really rating the cb opks until this month when got 8 flashing smiley faces in a row followed by AF! Turns out I completely missed ov which was weirdly early and started testing too late (so not actually clear blue’s fault at all!)

So all our BD this month was in vain! But my OH was also feeling the pressure. “I’m not a machine” he told me 😳 so I think the OPKS do add pressure.

Fingers crossed you will get your fixed smiley soon.

Welcome to all the newcomers and good luck!

Blondcat · 21/08/2018 14:52

Welcome new ladies.

@melamine and @oxted2018 I think that would be the same for me if I used opks. Think I just have to accept we will dtd as much as we can throughout (even if only once during fw) the month without the pressure factor and it may take a while as dh definitely feels the pressure (me too seem to dry upBlush)

OP posts:
Oxted2018 · 21/08/2018 15:03

@blondcat Do you track ov/ cycles or just aim for regular DTD throughout?

BambiOnIce80 · 21/08/2018 15:08

@Blondcat, I suffer from the exact same problem! I've found using fertility lubricant applicators help tonnes with that particular problem 👍

My DP suffered from a bit of performance anxiety on the fourth day in a row in our fertile window this month, and I can't say as I blame him! We can merrily lay back and think of England, but the pressure for DP's to perform, especially when they know it's the fertile window, must be pretty horrible.

Blondcat · 21/08/2018 15:49

@oxted2018 I have an app to track cycles which gives rough indication of ov date and I do seem to be roughly in line with that based on ewcm and sometimes ov pain. I like to know when next af is due. I just try to aim for as regular dtd as can throughout cycle.

@bambionice80 I have recently got some preseed to help with that. Not used yet as got thrush straight after ov last cycle so have had a couple of weeks break from dtd.

OP posts:
BambiOnIce80 · 21/08/2018 15:56

@Blondcat, I've suffered from thrush a lot for exactly the same reason. I'm happy to report that the Conceive+ version of preseed I've been using recently seems to be keeping that annoying problem at bay 👍 I've got the proper preseed to try next cycle, although I've been warned it's quite a lot runnier than the one I'm used to so beware of it going everywhere! 😂

Oxted2018 · 21/08/2018 16:12

@Bambionice80 @blondcat I have also got some preseed and can confirm it is very runny!! :-D Less is more!
