Hi @KnitKitty sorry to hear about the asthma- hope you get it under control

I don't know much about steroids when pregnancy- there are different types- but I have been put on 25mg of prednisone daily for first 16 weeks of pregnancy.

There have been some studies which have linked steroids in pregnancy to risk in cleft lip and I think smaller sized babiesBUT these studies have only been done on animals. My consultant dr S who has put hundreds (if not thousands) of clients on steroids to treat nk cells told me he has never seen one case of any issue with steroids - and all his clients have given birth to normal healthy babies....
I did have to sign a waiver with him tho to acknowledge there is risk of taking the drugs while pregnant- but hoping

zarala · 07/09/2018 15:21

@KnitKitty sorry pressed send too soon!
Anyway I would discuss with your doctor
And I really hope af stays away for you and you get your BFP !!! 🤞🏽🤞🏽

Lilimum4 · 07/09/2018 15:34

@Boboelephant I've booked for Monday 17th September I'll be 6+5 hopefully if I calculated correctly. Most apps calculate you ovulating on cd14 or CD15 but I ovulate on cd10 so it ups sets the apps. Either way it will be 6w by period dates or 6+5 by ovulation dates. So should see something on the scan. God I'm nervous though

KnitKitty · 07/09/2018 15:49

Thanks @zarala, that makes me feel better. I've been prescribed 30mg of Prednisolone for 5 days. I'm sure my doctor wouldn't have recommended it unless he was confident it was safe as we did discuss the possibility of being pregnant. How are things going for you?

@Mumma100 I used to take Fluticosone twice a day, but when I was pregnant the GP recommended I stop taking it if I could get away with it and actually my asthma didn't bother me at all when pregnant. I miscarried in March and didn't start taking it again as I wasn't feeling the need to, just the odd puff of Ventoline here and there. I've now been given a Beclometasone dipropionate inhaler to take twice a day for a month and will have to have a catch up with the asthma nurse after that.
I don't think the change in whether helps, but this was definitely set off by my cold. Luckily that seems to be calming down now.

Thanks for the recommendation @Boboelephant I think I will try the Clearblue digital monitor. Been trying to read up and it seems like the best option for a novice... although not the cheapest, especially with a long cycle! When's the best time to start using the OPKS?

@Lilimum4 that 10 day wait might seem a long time, but just keep plodding along, I'm sure the time will pass quickly. Best of luck xxx

hayleyfx · 07/09/2018 17:44

Feeling frustrated today 🙄 I thought my body was pretty much back to normal and was feeling positive about moving on. Did a PG test today and got a faint positive! 🤦‍♀️ Last time I tested was 10 days ago and it was negative (or could have had a verrry faint line) so I thought things were basically back to normal! Apparently not 😣 does anyone know how long it could take to get another or definite negative test? It’s almost 5 weeks since I delivered Charlie, hope I’m back to normal soon!

hayleyfx · 07/09/2018 17:45

@Lilimum4 oh I’m glad you have an early scan booked. I’ve got everything crossed for you lovely x

Taylorsej17 · 07/09/2018 18:11

@KnitKitty thanks, my Dr's have a tendency to just be a bit naff really and like to brush my concerns away.

When I was repeatedly going in with Dd2 about her reflux I got asked if maybe I was doing this because of my health anxiety linked to my BPD?! Such a douche of a Dr that day!

Anyway I didn't test today and I've broke out in spots and feel a bit Mardy and tearful but snappy too so reckon Af could be due actually.

Bobzybaby · 07/09/2018 18:22

@KnitKitty I have high levels of natural killer cells. If I fall pregnant I am to take 20mg of prednisolone for the first 10 weeks! That's a treatment plan from Professor Brosens out of Coventry and Warwickshire. If you google his work you'll see his credentials. Defo would not have prescribed that if it wasn't safe for pregnancy - it's been prescribed to me to help me sustain one! Hope this helps put your mind at ease 😊

Bobzybaby · 07/09/2018 18:24

@KnitKitty sorry didn't see that @zarala had already posted pretty much what I just said 😂

kisses4u · 07/09/2018 18:46

@hayleyfx have you been trying again or would this be a bit of left over hCG? Also which tests have you been using? The same brand or different as the sensitivity is different on them all annoyingly 🤔

kisses4u · 07/09/2018 18:57

I'm totally miffed by my cycle this month. How was it for everyone else post MC? I would have been due AF yesterday and aside from a couple of days of brown coloured spotting I've had nothing for two days. Now just getting a bit of creamy cm. I last tested 2 days ago and was bfn but I feel hesitant to test again as I keep wasting tests and always feel crap seeing bfn... any advise welcome 🙏

mostimproved · 07/09/2018 19:41

@hayleyfx I'm 33 days post m/c and have not had a definite negative yet - I thought I did, but then had a couple of faint positives which confused me a lot but AF has arrived today so definitely not pregnant. Have you been TTC or are you waiting until you get a negative test?

@kisses4u my cycle has been weird post MC, in fact it hasn't felt like a 'cycle' as such.. AF came today which is day 33 post MC, when my normal cycles are 25 days, and I had no symptoms of AF arriving whatsoever whereas normally I get sore boobs and bloating, but nothing this time. I had a tiny bit of brown cm but then nothing for a couple of days, and now AF has arrived it is heavier and more painful than usual. I have felt a bit emotional as it is a reminder I'm definitely not pregnant, but at least now I feel like I can properly start TTC. Hope your AF starts soon (if you're not pregnant of course!)

LittleLuce37 · 07/09/2018 20:01

Hope it’s ok to join in. I’m new to mumsnet so might not be in the right place!

I’m 37 and TTC again after by DD was stillborn at 32 weeks in April. We have another DD who is 7.

It’s early days but me and DH were both surprised to find that we were equally keen to try again. First month was a total wash out as I completely screwed up timing! So I guess we’ve been properly trying for 3 and no luck yet. In fact I’d got my hopes up as I was a couple of days late but AF arrived today. I’m gutted.

I know it’s early on but all this tracking and trying is totally new to us both... we were very very lucky that both times before it just “happened”

So... that’s me!

Newbie21 · 07/09/2018 20:33

@LittleLuce37 so sorry you find yourself here and so sorry for your loss. This is a very supportive group.

After a BFP on wed and then a CB confirmation of "pregnant 1-2 weeks" yesterday, I had a super stressful day at work today and when I went for a wee at the end of the day about 6pm there was fresh blood in my knickers and when I wiped like AF. I'm so upset, I must have lost it :-(. Do you think there is any chance it could still be ok?

Taylorsej17 · 07/09/2018 20:38

@Kisses4u I had a chemical on 29th July and I've had nothing since. I bled until 4th August and I'm still waiting on Af, feels like I've been waiting forever. I've done 8 tests now and they've all been bfn's and I'm going out of my mind. I did think I could have caught as I was getting some of my 'usual' early pregnancy symptoms but obviously it's not happened yet. I think I OV'd around 19th/23rd August based on Cm and symptoms but I'm not certain.
At this point I almost feel Af would be welcome as at least I'd know where I was cycle wise!!

@LittleLuce37 sorry to hear about your Dd2 hun, hope you are getting on okay xx glad both you and Oh were in agreement straight away it does make the trying much easier.
I'm new to the tracking and 'trying' as well and I find I get a bit overwhelmed from time to time as it feels like it's taking over!! I've always just caught really quickly even after previous Mc's I caught straight away so I'm a little frustrated this time around that it doesn't seem to be happening for me. Altho it is quite soon after having Dd2 so maybe it's just hormones all up in the air.

Taylorsej17 · 07/09/2018 20:41

@Newbie21 there could be a chance you're still okay and you've still got a sticky bean.
I had regular bleeding and spotting throughout my pregnancy with Ds1 and thought I'd lost him so many times.
I'll keep everything crossed for you hun, try to rest (feet up etc) and not think about it too much (easier said than done I know) and definitely don't keep going and checking if you can xxx

Newbie21 · 07/09/2018 20:48

Thank you @Taylorsej17 that gives me some hope that maybe it could be ok. I've put a sanitary pad on just in case there is anymore and I'm lying on the sofa. When I went to the loo a little while ago it was just a little bit pink when I wiped but no major bleed. I'm hoping it'll stop. I'll try to not check all the time. I feel so tired, maybe that is a good thing as at least maybe I'm so exhausted I will sleep rather than worrying all night.

KnitKitty · 07/09/2018 20:59

@hayleyfx did you use a different type of pregnancy test with this one than you did last time? Is there any chance this could be a new pregnancy? It does take time for your body to get back to normal, but usually when HCG goes down it stays down, right?

@Taylorsej17 any chance you can change doctors? It's not good when you can't put your trust in the people looking after your health, and your family's. I hope if AF is coming she doesn't take too long so you're out of the limbo. You might not have ovulated at all this cycle, even if you had symptoms. Just give your body more time to heal. It can take a while for things to get back to normal. xxx

Thanks @Bobzybaby, having more than one person say the same thing is just more reassuring, so thanks for your input and support. I had no choice about taking the meds in the end because I realised I'm not going to make it through the night without it.

@kisses4u my periods seemed really different after MC. Before pregnancy they would arrive and I'd have immediately fairly heavy dark bleeding for about 4 days and then lighter for 3. Since MC I get a couple of days of spotting and then one day of heavy followed by 3 or 4 days light flow. No pain though. Or very little anyway.

Hi LittleLuce37, welcome to the group and so sorry to hear about your loss. It's great that you're feeling ready to try again, but don't worry if it takes longer than you want it to because it gives you more time to grieve and heal and prepare for a new little bean, as hard as the waiting is.

@Newbie21 I'm so sorry about the bleeding love. Contact your EPU. Sometimes you can bleed pretty heavily in pregnancy and everything is still ok, so keeping my fingers firmly crossed for you. I had bleeding in early pregnancy (before and around the time I tested), some of it quite red and actually the pregnancy progressed fine and the bleeding stopped. (Although later lost the pregnancy, but I'm completely sure the bleeding was unrelated). Rest well lovely but do contact EPU and get a scan booked in for around the 6 week mark so they can check everything is as it should be. xxx

Boboelephant · 07/09/2018 21:00

@Lilimum4 hope the next 10 days passes quickly. Try and do something nice every day.
@KnitKitty they suggest starting them about 5 days before ovulation so start later if you have a longer cycle. Maybe you could start using the cheap one step ones off Amazon and when you start getting a darker line swap to the CBs?
@kisses4u MC can really mess up your cycles. I've been on this thread a long time and most people wait longer than their normal cycle length for their first af. Docs told me it could take up to 8 weeks. They can also be affected for the first 6 months. I know think it's hard but it's a bit of a waiting game at the start.
@hayleyfx so sorry hun. No advice but I hope things regulate soon. Sending big hugs.
@LittleLuce37 welcome and I'm so sorry for your loss. It is hard to adjust when it used to be easy and then suddenly it's much harder to fall, I've had the same experience. I hope it happens for you soon.
@Newbie21 I'm sorry hun, that's sounds tough. Unfortunately at this stage I don't think there is much you can do but wait and hope. I hope it's all ok and baby is ok.

Newbie21 · 07/09/2018 21:27

Thanks @Boboelephant and @KnitKitty I will see how it goes through the night and book an appointment with the doctor later in a few days maybe depending on how things go.

LittleLuce37 · 07/09/2018 21:29

@Newbie21 that must be terrifying but I do know a lot of my friends who have had bleeding during pregnancy. Everything crossed for you.

Thanks to all for the welcomes xxx

Taylorsej17 · 07/09/2018 21:39

@Newbie21 try get some sleep if you can and hopefully you'll have been okay overnight. I bled ALOT with Ds1 and I was in and out of hospital all the time. It turned out he was initially a twin and the other fetus never fully formed properly. They 'think' altho nobody can say for sure that that's why I kept bleeding.

@Knitkitty I would but the other Dr's near to us are even worse and getting in there is like trying to get an appointment with the Queen. It's so frustrating. We might be moving soon so hopefully there will be better Gp's round there.

doddlebobs · 07/09/2018 21:50

Really behind after a couple of days off! I find I'm actually less neurotic during AF and pre-ov days as there's nothing I can track or fret on! Hence less mumsnet!

@RedRobin7 happy birthday! How's the big 3-0 treating you so far?

@KnitKitty I joined a pregnant after loss thread with them when i was pregnant and last time I checked they were both doing well! Hopefully they will check in with us again as the shining lights of hope ❤️

@Boboelephant Good advice on the opk! I think I ovulate suuuuper quickly after the positive so will take your advice too and start doing my cheapies multiple times a day. I was put off the cb after ovulating cd23 the first month I used the 4 day ones after starting at cd10! 🤑 I only started opk after miscarriage and think I'm still a bit messed up (now 5 months post mmc and 1 month post long chemical) so my 'regular' ovulation could either be irregular normally or somewhere between 14 and 23!

doddlebobs · 07/09/2018 22:16

.

@hayleyfx Sorry to hear you're in such an uncertain position. Is there a chance you're pregnant again? Either way stay strong, you got this. Charlie is helping you always x

@LittleLuce37 Hello and welcome. So sad to hear your circumstances of arriving here. Good that you've both talked about it and are on the same page though. This group is one of wonderful strong inspirational women who know their stuff about being helpful in our title circumstance.

@Newbie21 Oh how scary for you. Have heard a few stories of bruising/blood sacs post MC that result in bleeding in early weeks of pregnancy. I'm currently baby sitting a 20 month old example of heavy bleeding throughout first 12 weeks so there's always hope. I don't think there's much you can do but wait and hope and reach out if you need some help to get you thru xx

@Taylorsej17 Sorry I missed your introduction but sorry that you're here, you've come to a warm supportive place.

InDreamland · 07/09/2018 22:25

Wow so much to catch up on. I'm in Germany at the moment.

@coffeist it's nice to have a tww buddy. Fx for you too! I'm not confident at all that I'll be so lucky to catch so soon after mc after the luckiest 5 years. I've had a mouth ulcer the past few days and still something there, I hardly ever get them so I'm really fed up. Also had a cold for over a week from the bank holiday weekend. Just feel like my body is falling apart.

@RedRobin7 happy 30th birthday! Hope you're being spoilt lots!

@Newbie21 sorry about the bleeding but hopefully you will be ok after some rest. Fx for a sticky bean for you xx

@LittleLuce37 I'm so sorry for your loss. You're in the right place though. Everyone here is so lovely and supportive.
