Last weeks brewing cold then af finally arriving have done me in the last few days (I admit, days 28 & 29 I did poas because I've forgotten how much af and early preg symptoms are alike!). CD5 now so hoping I perk up enough to start bd tomorrow / Thurs. I know we are probably deluding ourselves that I am still young enough to conceive dc3 but it's fun trying.

Chatbash72 · 07/08/2018 23:52

@starsandstuff my hubs is one of 6, but a very dysfunctional blended family so we have quite a few.. and a large age gap between big ones and little ones but being an auntie has it ups and downs

Cleozeta · 08/08/2018 18:13

So, I decided to ditch temping as its way to stressful, but stick with opk's as they are more straight forward and reliable. So of course they are messing me around this cycle and causing stress.
Has anyone had an opk line get lighter after being dark early in the cycle (before usual ov time) with no signs of ewcm? I had a fairly dark line on cd9 so thought ov must be approaching (my usual is cd12 or 13) but now on cd11 opk line is almost non existant! Why oh why can it just not be simple??

mellongoose · 08/08/2018 18:22

Sorry Cleo. I'm no help! Still waiting for af. I have symptoms which could be either. Won't test until Monday. If it's a bfn I too will enter the world of opks. Good luck!

littlemimosa · 08/08/2018 21:02

Hi Cleo glad you had a good holiday and you got a mental break from thinking about ttc. I’m feeling the same as we’re on a ttc break too for a couple of months. It was just getting too stressful.
The only thing I can say about opks is that I get a fairly strong line most of the month. Not positive but strong. I once read that LH can be higher in older women so it can make using opks tricky. I’d go off body signs if I were you.
That’s interesting what you said about waistlines. That makes sense. On a similar note I’ve recently noticed loads of quite overweight pregnant people. Sorry it this offends anyone, it’s merely an observation and not a criticism, I only mention it because it got me wondering if Mother Nature prefers a bit of meat on a mama. I say this as a skinny girl so I’ve been upping my calories to send a message to by body that times are good to have a baby!

mondaycando1 · 08/08/2018 23:37

My body hates me - thought I'd got away with a light af after 2 cycles with no copper coil and we could start on day 8 with every other day but no, bright red bleeding since lunchtime so tomorrow is not looking hopeful. I had an op earlier in the year and on the "morning after" round the younger Dr / surgeon said there was quite a large fibroid (quickly outspoken by the older one saying it wasnt that big!) so reckon thats not helping things, one was picked up in a pregnancy scan years ago so it's obviously still there. My gynae history is one of very quick conceptions so this while actually ttc and mind games is new. Huge love and respect to those of you who have had months and months of physical and mental pain, I'm thinking about it so much only at the start of the 2nd full cycle x

Cleozeta · 09/08/2018 08:38

Good luck mellon!
Mimosa I think I'm heading into a long drawn out month like you had recently. Tried to dtd last night but dried up like an old hag. I'd normally be ovulating today but opk's are getting lighter and cbfm is still showing low. I'm starting to suspect it might be the alcohol I drank on holiday, as my cycles had got a lot better after cutting down on drinking before.
Interesting what you say about larger ladies. I've notoliced that most of the pregnant ladies I know that have been older have been generally healthy weights, neither too thin or too fat, but younger women I've seen are often larger. I think when your body has to fight to deal with anything else, or compensate any deficiencies the first thing it drops is fertility.

Monday - yes this is a crazy ride we are on, and it's unfortunately often long and with no outcome!
That was cheerful wasn't it?! You can tell I'm having a shitty cycle

weasledee · 09/08/2018 08:41

I can also add to the weight gain thing. I'm really slim (naturally) spent most of my adult life trying to gain weight, no luck. Then from last year I've slowly gained over a stone! (The weight is still climbing....) I'm delighted! I now wear leggings!!!!!! This would have been unheard of last summer..... but I also thought this must also be a bad sign as it's so out the blue.... got to be menopause related......

Orchid222 · 09/08/2018 11:57

Hi ladies, how's everyone doing? Can we get a bfp on here soon please? I need cheering up. I'm so down about ttc at the moment...I've spent many hours reading old posts on struggling to conceive no. 2 threads and was cheered up seeing that there were many bfp's after trying for a very long time, 19 cycles, 27 cycles etc. but then the good luck string kind of finished and ladies started posting their new baby stories and I just burst out into tears. The weather isn't helping either. I'm 9dpo but not expecting a lot as I have no symptoms (apart from a weird feta cheese craving a few days ago...) so just sitting here wondering if I should give it one more cycle naturally next month or go straight for IVF or at least IUI.
Has anyone started DHEA yet? I've read good things about it but also a lot about possible side effects so haven't decided on using it yet but if we do one more cycle naturally I probably will since that's one thing I haven't tried.

Sorry for such negative post earlier. On a more positive side, many of these ladies were in their 30's which made me think that maybe the fact we're all taking a while to conceive doesn't have that much to do with our age and it's just the way it goes, sometimes it takes a while and hopefully there is a light at the end of the ttc tunnel for all of us.

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 09/08/2018 12:45

I think the problem with it takimg a long time at our age, is some of us don't have long left. By the time we've waited the few years it may take, it's game over. We get lucky or we don't. It's all down to chance.

Orchid222 · 09/08/2018 13:34

Cleo I agree with you completely but in my case I've convinced myself it's not happening because of my age and I'm sure the stress from panicking about time running out is not helping.

Cleozeta · 09/08/2018 14:03

I'm the same orchid

CookieWaffle · 09/08/2018 14:58

I'm hoping I can give you a BFP in the next day or two.... xxx

Orchid222 · 09/08/2018 15:50

Good luck Cookie, fingers crossed! Any symptoms? I have another 5 days to go, bored of waiting...

OP posts:
CookieWaffle · 09/08/2018 16:04

Going to the loo alot, boobs are killing me, feeling run down, weird tastes and smells and the odd twinges. Had a very faint line yesterday but holding judgement after last month's CP....

mondaycando1 · 09/08/2018 16:09

@cookie keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Orchid222 · 09/08/2018 16:15

Sounds promising, hoping this is it for you!

OP posts:
CookieWaffle · 09/08/2018 16:18

Thanks :) this tww has been the longest and most stressful yet!

mellongoose · 09/08/2018 16:30

Thinking of you, Cookie and Orchid.

I'm 14dpo (I think). No symptoms particularly. However I've been reading the pregnancy and conception boards and loads of people don't have symptoms. If I remember rightly from DD (my only known pregnancy) I only POAS because we were trying.

I was pretty knackered but no more then I am now! When I had my 12wk scan I thought they would say I'd been making it all up!!

This time I'm bloated, knackered (a real hottie Grin)

We will see!! I'm either pregnant or letting myself go!!!!!

weasledee · 09/08/2018 17:25

Ooooo cookie sounds promising!
And melon when you testing???! Smile

Orchid222 · 09/08/2018 18:20

Yes Mellon when are you testing? At 14dpo you should get a valid result. Weasle you'd be testing at 10dpo wouldn't you? Grin
I wasn't going to test until Tuesday but I just bought some tests and might use them on Sunday only because if by some miracle it is positive I'd like to start progesterone as soon as I know.

OP posts:
mellongoose · 09/08/2018 19:41

I could Orchid but I haven't got any in!

I'm due on tomorrow so will just hope AF doesn't arrive. If it hasn't by Monday then I will test then. I've got my hopes up and tested early before only to be disappointed so I'd rather think I'm in with realistic shot before I buy more tests!!

CookieWaffle · 10/08/2018 05:39

So... here you go. Much stronger than last month, second time lucky? :)

Over 40 ttc - August baby dust for me!
mondaycando1 · 10/08/2018 07:27

Oh @cookie beyond awesome!!!!

Started this month's dtd fest as it's day 8 & I seem to be having 28/29 day cycles I figure at least every other day for the next 10 days might crack it.
