Right ladies, I've been thinking, we need to improve our attitude to conception over 40 (me included). We are never going to fall pregnant if we continually tell ourselves we are old, our eggs are old and our fertility is falling off a cliff! I've been doing a lot of reading and thinking during my TTC hiatus and really believe that we need to tell ourselves it's possible in order for our bodies to manifest a pregnancy (look at Faith - she did this!). Check out this podcast which is a famous women's doctor (Christine Northrup) in America talking about the negative effect society has on our fertility (terms like 'geriatric pregnancy' if you're over 35 - *k off! and the fertility industry in general sucking in its breath at the mere mention of ttc over 40).
We need to get this stuff to bounce off us and believe more!!

Here's the link;

Thoughts?

littlemimosa · 03/10/2018 12:33

@MATTSMAMA - hun, you'll love the podcast above. I thought of you. She talks about women having babies into their 50s and even 60s:-)

Cleozeta · 03/10/2018 12:39

Snowie - what does it mean by micronized dhea? Is there a difference with standard?

Mimosa - I am liking your positivity, well done!

KeepingTheFaith9 · 03/10/2018 13:20

I agree !! Keep positive ladies. Remember - as @Cleo (@Orchid?) - one of you wise ladies..said .. ages ago, it only takes ONE GOLDEN EGG!!
X

Chatbash72 · 03/10/2018 15:10

I fully agree with the sex comment, can't remember who mentions it, but my friend conceived on day 5. As we do get older they ping earlier.. if you can just get at it as often as you can, don't restrict it to just ovulating time.. it takes the magic out of sex side of your relationship.. ideally yes you want his boys at peak condition but you know what Mother Nature doesn't play that way.. and if you take that " got to dtd at the RIGHT time" you put added stress on your body and head and relationship.. it's flipping stressful enough..
I'm 45... I've had 3 miscarriages in my 40's but I've conceived so I know it can happen.. I've got a 14 year ago gap between me and my brother died y mean I love him amy less than my sister ( 3 years between us) and I am blessed to have kids but an age gap in 10 years and they love each other to bits.. if you get pregnant please try to stuff what others think.. is anyone judging rachel Weiss or Louise delamere.. whilst your still ovulating your still in the game.. and a generation of grand parents Pre birth control can be proof of this.. so get bonking ladies.. and yes I do appreciate some hubbies struggle with this side.. mine suffered dreadfully last year because I was stessy about times... an epic meltdown about turning 45 and other emotional upheaval made me re think my attitude.. and within the month I had fallen preg.. although not meant to happen at that time.. sadly, it gave me hope.. the medical industry just want to scare us because they won't get funding or make money from us..
hope I haven't sounded too soap boxy but please try and enjoy the contraceptive free, slightly spontaneous baby making... xxxx

weasledee · 03/10/2018 15:21

Ladies, I needed that! Here I am on AF due day, no period yet and a bfn! Feeling deflated etc....
Thanks little and chat and feel a bit refocused and I'm going to listen to the podcast Smile

Rose68 · 03/10/2018 15:47

Thank you Chatbash, that has made me smile... god I need a glass of wine! xxx

CritterTamer · 03/10/2018 16:15

I’m loving the PMA going on here today - it’s just what I need whilst sitting hear quietly panicking about egg collection tomorrow and feeling so uncomfortable with huge painful swollen ovaries and sick to my stomach from the HCG trigger shot - hoping it’s all worth it! Thanks so much to all those who have wished me well for tomorrow - it means a lot 😊 just really hoping to get a couple of good quality embryos this time to take advantage of this beautiful lining I’ve managed to conjure up this month so i can tell Dr. Doom where he can shove his negative comments 😁

Chatbash72 · 03/10/2018 16:52

@CritterTamer ⭐️⭐️🤞🤞🤞🤞

Chatbash72 · 03/10/2018 16:54

Just re read my message my brother is not die!! 😱😱😱 meant to say" it didn't mean I loved him any less than my sister " can't walk and type 🤦‍♀️

MATTSMAMMA · 03/10/2018 17:20

LITTLEMIMOSA - thanks so much for that link. It was so needed! I was sat having a coffee in a cafe when I was catching up on this thread and reading your post and I looked up and saw a clock with the words never give up written across the clock face! A clock of all things too - how poignant when time is what we are all worrying about and then to see those words Smile So ladies - onwards and upwards and above all forget your age and believe SmileGrin xx

Rose68 · 03/10/2018 17:32

Thank you Littlemimosa, I shall watch it later when my boys are in bed. Still need that glass of wine! x

weasledee · 03/10/2018 18:18

All the best critter!! Keep us posted..
And chat I'm pleased to hear about your "non dead" brother GrinGrinGrin

Jenbot78 · 03/10/2018 22:03

Thanks for these vibes, really helping me ladies!

littlemimosa · 03/10/2018 23:25

You’re welcome ladies:)

Critter good luck for egg collection!! You sound more positive this time and your follicles and lining sound awesome. Keep us posted x

Letsdothis42 · 04/10/2018 03:19

@dabofrouge @littlemimosa @Orchid @weasledee @crittertamer @chatbash

Thank you ladies and for the link and the PMA , @critter I'm following your journey closely and @littlemimosa you are a star for keeping spirits up! fingers crossed for everyone I'm 2 days past AF and feel the AF symptoms, not going to test will try to keep positive!

mellongoose · 04/10/2018 06:01

Good luck @CritterTamer

@KeepingTheFaith9 She basically said - she believes that the main reason most over 40’s can’t get pregnant is because they simply aren’t having enough sex

^This... or at least having sex at the 'right' time. We doubled our efforts and it was the first BFP since DD 4 years ago. Now you've all got me sh1tting myself. I think I'm 7 weeks and am still waiting for my midwife booking in app. What with my weird 5 week cycles, I could be further on.

I'm keeping up with this thread but not wanting to shove every single pregnancy worry on here. I'm so grateful but need to get over the hurdles of abnormality test before I can relax. Oh and DH has had the predicted meltdown about age and money etc.

Keep going everyone. I believe we are now teens well into our 20s. Fertility is fertility until you stop ovulating.

Taxgirl1 · 04/10/2018 07:01

Good luck @critter. Everything crossed for you. @littlemimosa well done and thank you for the feel good vibes. Well needed and amazing how that seems to have turned around the mood of the group. @chatbash love it. We should be enjoying the contraceptive free sex! @mellongoose try not to feel too anxious - difficult I know. Big hugs everyone xx

Cleozeta · 04/10/2018 08:00

Really worried aboit not having enough sex! Will have to purchase some viagra for DH Grin

Orchid222 · 04/10/2018 08:08

Mellon- don't worry and keep positive like Faith, my grandmother got pregnant with a perfectly healthy baby at 44 and then you see abnormalities with babies of much younger women so age is just a number! Just wondering- what do you mean you doubled your efforts, did you start dtd earlier or every day or? I swear we've tried everything and still it didn't work so happy to get some more suggestions on what else we can do to help our chances.

OP posts:
Cleozeta · 04/10/2018 09:28

I've done some reading up on DHEA and I'm sold. Appatently it rejouvinates your eggs so they are like that of a younger person. It gives you more evergy and boosts your sex drive as well as giving you better quality eggs witg more chancd of conception and loweing the rate of miscarriage. Only downside is it can make you bald and spotty. Boom. I'm in.

CritterTamer · 04/10/2018 11:03

Hi all
Just back from EC and really happy that we got 12 eggs from 12 follicles - that’s double last time’s count 😊 unlikely that all are mature so doubt we’ll get 100% fertilisation again but 🤞 for a good number! Will be a long wait until tomorrow to find out!

Rose68 · 04/10/2018 11:46

@Critter - that sounds great so far! I am keeping everything crossed for you and I really hope tomorrow brings more good news.

@Cleozeta - which dhea are you getting and where from? Maybe I should add it to my ever growing list of supplements... Grin

Cleozeta · 04/10/2018 11:50

Critter that sounds great! Fingers crossed for you

Rose, I have ordered some from biovea 25mg, going to take either 50mg or 75mg a day, haven't decided yet

Rose68 · 04/10/2018 17:18

@Letsdothis42 sounds promising! Fingers crossed for you x
