Well average is 14 days and they say anything that's 10 days and over is good! I've a luteal phase of 12 days since taking Vitamin B (was only 11 days before). Sounds like you might have ovulate earlier that month then and perhaps had period due date bit wrong? Fricking complicated stuff this 😂 not till you start TTC do you realise how much is involved and how your body works 😂

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 14:24

I have no idea either @PastaSauceHoarder - Thankyou @TwittleBee for explaining - it all makes a little more sense now!

I have started taking the pills to force AF on Friday so it should come end next week roughly - DH has his sperm test on the 30th so hopefully I haven't time ovulation for he days leading up to that!

Just upcycling some furniture today for the house - it's been in the garage for months and DH wanted his space back!

PastaSauceHoarder · 19/08/2018 15:58

Oh god I don't know @TwittleBee, I guess I'll just have to see what November brings! 😂 Husband has so generously suggested that we maximise our chances of conceiving by DTD every single day - how very noble of him. 🙄
Are you taking anymore vitamins or supplements? I'm only taking folic acid at the mo but I've been trying to look into taking just about anything that looks like it might help. However the world of supplements is almost as confusing as the world of TTC!

Ah at least you definitely know that AF is on its way then, @Pinkroseuk! How long after the sperm test do you think you'll get the results back? Hows your husband feeling about it?
Upcycling furniture sounds like a chilled way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Smile The most I've ever done is paint a set of drawers and a shelf or two!

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 16:16

@PastaSauceHoarder - my DH has suggested the same and he claims it's helping with my weight loss!
Yes it's made me feel better knowing something might happen!
I think they will give us the results when I have my next hospital appointment - meant to be end October but not had the appointment through yet. Don't think DH minds too much about going (it's an hour and half from here though so we have both taken the day off). Think he's slightly concerned about the logistics of aiming for a container (sorry if tmi!) but other than that seems fine!

Yes I have done a couple bedside tables for the spare room and a blanket/toy box!

dottydally · 19/08/2018 16:57

How is the weight loss going @Pinkroseuk? Sorry if you've already said, I've been away for a while!

Still no sign of AF so I've bought another test. I'll do it over the weekend if nothing happens through the week. It's prompted us to have some serious conversations here about what we want which has been good. I'm wishing I never agreed to go away with work now as that is all that is really stopping us Sadtrying to remind myself that it will all be worth it and may just clinch the promotion for me!

Barker26 · 19/08/2018 17:09

Can I join the thread? DP and I going to start in December mainly because we are going to New York early Dec and Athens in March! Don't mind being pregnant for Athens but New York is truly once in a lifetime for us so don't want to be constantly knackered and ruin it for myself ! Seems like an age to wait though Sad

dottydally · 19/08/2018 17:20

Welcome @Barker26! New York is amazing, you will love it. I've never been pregnant so no idea how tired you get, but I found NY tiring anyway as we did A LOT of walking. Winter is the best time to go (I think) as it's really cold and you can get wrapped up. The atmosphere before Christmas is something else completely. I'm jealous!

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 17:29

@dottydally it's not really- got stuck at loosing 5kg :(
I have bought that slow cooker yesterday so hoping to cut carbs out for a week and see if that helps!

I'm sure your work trip will be worth it and hope that you do get the promotion.

Welcome @Barker26. Both those trips sound amazing - would love to go to NY!

PastaSauceHoarder · 19/08/2018 17:30

Oh dear @Pinkroseuk, yeah I imagine aiming might be a bit tricky! 😂 Glad to hear that you're both in good spirits about it though, hopefully you get your hospital appointment through some time soon.

@dottydally, how late are you now? Are you still feeling ill? Is there a way to get out of the work trip if your test comes back positive, or is it something you really want to go to?

And hello, @Barker26. Smile I am so jealous!! I've always wanted to go to New York, especially in December when its all cold and Christmassy. And Athens sounds lovely too!

Ah I want a holiday! 🌴

Barker26 · 19/08/2018 17:33

Thanks guys! Trying not to be ungrateful because I want to be pregnant haha! @dottydally I have heard it's just mega walking and I also don't know how tired I would be as have no children currently just dont want to take the risk! If I knew I would sail through pregnancy I would start TTC now lol! So great to have this thread!

dottydally · 19/08/2018 17:43

@Pinkroseuk you can do this, we believe in you! Slow cookers are brilliant. I can't wait to start making tagines and stews when we get into autumn. Is there anything we can do to help you?

@PastaSauceHoarder 8 days now which is strange. I have taken provera recently but I had a normal cycle after so I don't think it's that. If I was pregnant I just wouldn't go.. I'm not sure how happy work would be but baby's wellbeing would come first. I did check the travel guidance (in case we could ttc earlier) but it says pregnant women should avoid non essential travel. It just wouldn't be worth the risk as I wouldn't ever forgive myself if I caused issues.

Do you have any holidays planned?

@Barker26 how long are you going for/what are you planning to do and see while you are there? Depending what you are interested in, we may be able to recommend!

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2018 17:45

@dottydally ooh I fancy making something similar now! I fancy an aubergine tagine dish, might make one in the slow cooker this week!! X

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 18:05

Thanks @PastaSauceHoarder - we have good days and bad days but trying to stay positive!
Thankyou @dottydally. We have just followed a recipe to put a spag Bol on for tomorrow night - says u can put it in the fridge overnight - DH says if it's horrible he will just cover his in cheese to make it edible!

I will let you all know how it goes! Any other ideas would be great of things to try!

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 18:07

We have also started (still loads to pick) to get some plums off our tree- not quite sure what to do with them all but they should keep us going a while!

(Still) Waiting to TTC... Part 2!
dottydally · 19/08/2018 18:10

@Pinkroseuk what recipe did you use? You can always add lentils to spaghetti bolognaise - it makes it go further and reduces the fat content. I love things like lentil curry (but that's not in the slow cooker).

We do a nice Moroccan lamb tagine. It's not hot spicy but has an amazing flavour. Also has dried apricots for a bit of sweetness. Goes nicely with cous cous!

dottydally · 19/08/2018 18:11

@Pinkroseuk can you send us all some plums? Baked plums are really tasty!

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 18:14

@dottydally ooh they all sound lovely :) we used one that my auntie gave me so fingers crossed it will work!

Yes of course would be happy to share them
Out not but sure how well they would travel in the post!

When we moved in the previous couple said they get 2-5 plums a every other year so not sure what we have done to it to get quite so many!

TwittleBee · 19/08/2018 18:22

Mouth watering at talk of tagines 😋 love them!

PastaSauceHoarder just folic and vit B. We have agreed not to get too heavily invested in doing everything this time round as I think it all made me stressed lol.

PastaSauceHoarder · 19/08/2018 18:34

@dottydally work might not be too thrilled but they'd get over it! Like you said, if you were to be pregnant its the babys wellbeing thats most important. Smile

No holidays at all for me I'm afraid! ☹ I think thats why I'm focusing on sorting Christmas so much at the minute because we have no trips to look forward to. I'd love to just get away for a few days in December somewhere in this country but its probably not doable this year.

Anyone else going on any lovely holidays that I can lust over?

@Pinkroseuk wow, there are loads of plums there! I bloody love plums, do you grow any other food?

Fair enough @TwittleBee, stress doesn't help anything! I'm really hoping I don't get all stressed out once we start TTC but I just know I will. Especially as I secretly really want to be pregnant by my next birthday!

Barker26 · 19/08/2018 18:51

@dottydally we are going for 3 nights so need to pack as much in! It will be amazing at Xmas time! Want to see the rockerfeller tree, ground zero, central park, Brooklyn bridge, go shopping! Staying in times square but not fussed on seeing a show! We are massive foodies so could do with some resteraunt ideas! And any hidden gems to go and see!
Loving all the recipe talk! I always find pulled pork a good one to do in the slow cooker!

dottydally · 19/08/2018 19:12

@PastaSauceHoarder I'll just have to wait and see.

I've also started thinking about Christmas, I'm just picking things up as and when I see them. Nothing that might need returning but other bits can be stashed away. Why do you think you won't get away? No plans here as yet, but hopefully next year.

@Pinkroseuk you are clearly green fingered!

@Barker26 ground zero is the eeriest thing you will ever see. I got the same feeling as when I visited Auschwitz. The enormity of what happened there is quite overwhelming!

I've never done pulled pork in the slow cooker - only the oven. How do you do it in the slow cooker?

cupcakesandglitter · 19/08/2018 19:14

@PastaSauceHoarder no holidays for me either so I can dream with you 😩

@dottydally can I have the recipe for the lamb tagine pleeeeeeease? 😊😊 xx

Youcandothis365 · 19/08/2018 19:26

Hi lovely ladies, can I join?

I have extreme baby fever!!! It's ridiculous!

I'm desperate to ttc asap. However, DH wanted one last "big blow out" holiday and booked somewhere. As much as I don't want to go, I really can't begrudge him - he does everything to make me happy and he never asks for anything.

Unfortunately, it's somewhere that has Zika virus so I can't be / get pregnant whilst there ( we are going to have blood tests when we get back so hopefully can ttc shortly after).

So now I'm trying to find anything to keep me occupied!!

Pinkroseuk · 19/08/2018 19:27

@PastaSauceHoarder we have grown tomatoes, courgettes, cucumbers, lettuce, peas, sweet corn so far this year and still waiting on the cabbages carrots- just sown some more today too!

We're off to Scotland for a week beginning of September and taking my mum away the week after that to Devon for a couple of days.
We have only taken 5 days of holiday so far this year so have loads still to take!

Thanks @dottydally!
How do you do your pork please @Barker26 ?

Welcome @Youcandothis365 :)

dottydally · 19/08/2018 19:28

@cupcakesandglitter it's a BBC Good Food recipe:

www.bbc.com/food/recipes/moroccanlambtagine_6696

We don't put the dates and sultanas in and we use passata rather than tomato juice but otherwise follow the recipe! It also reheats really well. If you want to bulk it out you can add chickpeas too.
