Give in and go for it?! 😂

Honestly I’m so conflicted but it’s purely emotional and hormonal (wanting to TTC). And the reasons to wait are multiple and rational.

Why does no one warn you how strong the hormones are??

cupcakesandglitter · 17/08/2018 11:33

@Goostacean I have no idea 😂😂 have you weighed up the pros and cons of TTC now or sometime soon? Xx

OP posts:
Goostacean · 17/08/2018 11:52

Yeah... ☹️

Pros of now:

  1. Aww baby is so cute, I want more!
  2. Have a peaceful time off from work so wouldn’t have to do my stressful job whilst pregnant.
  3. Can’t stop thinking about it!
Cons of now:
  1. Being pregnant in a foreign country with no family support (doesn’t hugely bother me tbh)
  2. Not sure I want such a small age gap, would lose several years of one on one time with baby.

Pros of waiting:

  1. Enjoy baby being little, and special time as a family of 3.
  2. Doctor advised waiting 1y+ due to C section (but this isn’t mandatory)
  3. Going back to work newly promoted, in April. Can progress career before taking another mat leave. Don’t want to give up my work and independence. In-laws have recently demonstrated worryingly old-fashioned views on the role of the mother, which has made me even more keen to pursue my work...
Cons of waiting:
  1. I don’t want to, waaaaah (so mature... Hmm)
Goostacean · 17/08/2018 11:54

Actually writing that all out has been hugely helpful. The main two factors are:

Babies too close together (have 7y gap between me and my brother, so am biased against closely aged siblings).

My job. Which I don’t even like! But it’s the principle, and continuing there will open more doors.

Jelliestogether · 17/08/2018 12:28

@goostacean it's so hard and there isn't really a way of dealing with it...at least for me anyway! I've just been keeping busy and trying to keep my mind off it...its helped but not stopped it! Especially as it's all coming to an end now! Fingers crossed the next couple of months go quickly til I can ttc.

Basically I'm no help to you!

Goostacean · 17/08/2018 15:50

Haha, no worries- I’m no help to myself. Have a feeling this is also linked to removing my implant...

dottydally · 17/08/2018 22:15

I was having a break from MN, but just checking in for some support as I am 6 days late. I've had random bouts of queasiness through the week (I had to get out of the shower yesterday as I thought I was going to be sick). Not sure if it's just a bug or something more. Test purchased for tomorrow morning Sad

Goostacean · 17/08/2018 22:18

Would this be a good time, @dotty, please remind me...?

dottydally · 17/08/2018 22:32

@Goostacean it wouldn't be ideal, but we would obviously be ok. We were waiting until after Christmas as I wanted a big promotion and I'm spending some time abroad in October!

cupcakesandglitter · 17/08/2018 22:33

@Goostacean I think holding off would be sensible (but I also think if you're ready to TTC then why not?) xx

@dottydally hey, fingers crossed it could be BFP? How are you feeling about it? Xx

OP posts:
rollerskaterdata · 17/08/2018 22:37

@dottydally oh wow, how are you feeling?! I hope you get the outcome you want tomorrow morning...sorry if TMI was there any chance you could have gotten pregnant this month? (Can't remember if you're still on contraception or already taken it out) x

dottydally · 17/08/2018 22:37

@cupcakesandglitter a bit scared! I so badly wanted this to be a choice and I feel like I will have missed out if it is an accident. On the other hand, a baby would be such a wonderful thing. I just feel a bit mixed Sad The test is sitting on my bedside table, I'll update you all bright and early!

I was meant to be leaving MN for my sanity but I've missed you all.

dottydally · 17/08/2018 22:39

@rollerskaterdata I've been off the pill since January and we were using condoms. But had a couple of times where we haven't worn them throughout which I now realise was in my fertile window. Lack of self control really!

RandomUsernameHere · 17/08/2018 22:44

@dottydally I'm sure things will work out well for you, whatever the result. Keep us updated tomorrow morning!x

rollerskaterdata · 17/08/2018 22:46

@dottydally ahh I see, it's so easy to do though! It's understandable to feel a bit scared, especially when it wasn't yet planned, but also excited at the same time. I've got everything crossed for you tomorrow, update us whenever you're ready xxx

cupcakesandglitter · 17/08/2018 23:39

We'll all be here for you tomorrow, regardless of the outcome, keep us posted xx

OP posts:
Jelliestogether · 18/08/2018 06:43

@dottydally fingers crossed you get the result your after. I'm a firm believer of everything happens for a reason!

We had a moment in my f.w too so don't worry your not on your own there! We are now also waiting for AF to show.

TwittleBee · 18/08/2018 06:52

Hi all, hope you don't mind me joining in!

waves hello

We have been on a break from TCC (after 10 months of not getting anywhere) as I started a new job plus for health reasons. Wanting to start so badly now though.

dottydally good luck with that test this morning either way. Our DS was an accident and totally get what you mean about missing out on chance to actually try to conceive but on the other hand actually TTC is bloody stressful I found when we started trying a while back.

rollerskaterdata · 18/08/2018 07:58

@TwittleBee I second that, I'm on cycle 1 of TTC #2 and already finding it pretty stressful to be honest! DS was a surprise baby so had none of these emotions!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 18/08/2018 08:59

Just popping back to say good luck @dottydally. I hope you get the result you want. I completely understand what you mean by you feel a bit mixed. I tested negative and I was strangely gutted. Then tested positive a week later and just sat there like 😱. Still feeling mixed even now at 11 weeks!
I'm sure everything will work itself out and you'll find yourself adapting to the situation either way. Good luck xx

Pinkroseuk · 18/08/2018 09:12

Good luck @dottydally
I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason so fingers crossed you get the result you want x

dottydally · 18/08/2018 09:28

Negative here. Sort of relieved, but sad?!

RandomUsernameHere · 18/08/2018 09:33

Hope you're ok Lovely
Can completely understand the mixed emotions
I'm sure it will happen for you when the timing is just right x

rollerskaterdata · 18/08/2018 09:37

Hey @dottydally hope you're ok hun. Can totally understand the mixed feelings. If AF doesn't show up in a few days, maybe test again? If I remember correctly I think it took @AssumeItWasSomethingClever a little while to find out the mystery behind delayed AF and ended up getting a positive test. Be reassured that either way, the mystery always comes to an end at some point! X

PastaSauceHoarder · 18/08/2018 09:46

Totally understandable emotions @dottydally, hope you're feeling okay. Flowers
But I second what @rollerskaterdata has said, definitely don't rule anything out until AF has appeared.
