Congratulations on the visa @NeverHadANickname ! You must be so looking forward to living with your DP.

We went to register our marriage in DH's home country today but could only do half the process as the person who does the second half doesn't work at the weekend...

NeverHadANickname · 11/08/2018 15:37

Thank you @KinCat we are over the moon. Well that's annoying for you.

PastaSauceHoarder · 11/08/2018 17:54

I've been using cheapie ones from Amazon @Pinkroseuk, you get 30 in the pack so its really good! They seem to be working for me so I'd recommend. Smile These are them: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001G7P62S/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_JnXBBbJWXNC05?tag=mumsnetforum-21

I've not used Flo @NeverHadANickname, but I do use Ovia Fertility which I like. I used the Ovia Pregnancy and then later the Ovia Baby apps so its feels familiar to me. Its pretty simple to follow too, though I've not used temping with it yet.

Pinkroseuk · 11/08/2018 19:44

Thanks @PastaSauceHoarder so you use them daily or less often? I have no idea if I'm even ovulating!
May be a stupid question but can u ovulate if you have not had AF?! X

RandomUsernameHere · 11/08/2018 21:21

Yes I think you can, as the first time you ovulate after stopping the pill (for example) you would not have had AF yet. AF comes after you have ovulated. Not a stupid question at all!x

NoseringGirl · 11/08/2018 22:15

@Pinkroseuk if you have PCOS and are always getting highs on the ovulation monitor then it could mean that you've got constantly elevated LH levels (quite common in women with PCOS) so cheapie OPKs will just show positive or near positive but you won't necessarily ovulate.

Pinkroseuk · 11/08/2018 22:20

Thanks @RandomUsernameHere
Ah yes that would make sense @NoseringGirl - I might try a box and see what happens.
Still waiting for AF - finding it increasingly frustrating but trying to be patient!

crazychemist · 12/08/2018 14:58

Oh, all this exciting TTC! Litttle bit jealous Blush

My DH is so keen to start straight away, despite that being financially insane! He's not at all subtle about it. Very unhelpful as I'd absolutely love to get started. My DD is increasingly independent and un-needy, which is so convenient and it's great that she's developing, but it really tugs on my heart how easily she says "bye bye mummy" as she trots off to the park with DH without a backwards glance.

Sorry to hear there's still no sign of AF pink. Can GP give you anything to sort out hormone levels or do you just have to wait it out? I've heard it can take a little while to be normal.

PastaSauceHoarder · 12/08/2018 15:55

I'm jealous too, @crazychemist! 😣 Did you say it was December you're waiting for?
Bless her, your DD sounds lovely! Mine is the opposite, still totally attached to my hip like a little monkey (though I'm not definitely not complaining, I love it!).
How old did your say your little one was again?

I'm pretty sure you can still ovulate even though you haven't had a period, @Pinkroseuk! Sorry you're feeling fustrated. Flowers How long has it been now?
And I've been using OPK's pretty much daily, though obviously not bothering whilst on my period.

Pinkroseuk · 12/08/2018 16:46

@crazychemist I have to wait it out until I have lost weight then they will give me something to help. Your DD sounds adorable!

Thanks @PastaSauceHoarder. I came off the pill End Feb 2017. 79 days since last AF which was forced with tablets from
Hospital!
Feeling like it could be years to wait at this rate - trying to be patient but think I would feel better if I had AF and had a string of negative tests!

Jelliestogether · 13/08/2018 07:51

@Tash32 mine was about 36 days after taking the last pill.

@pink yes you may ovulate at any time then have AF after. So there's still hope you may catch it. Fingers crossed for you! It must be so hard to know the doctors won't do anything until you've lost more weight! I've got all my fingers crossed for you!!

@NeverHadANickname I use flo which is the one with the feather. But I don't temp or use opks so not sure if there's a better one for that!

Pinkroseuk · 13/08/2018 17:22

Thankyou @Jelliestogether.

Can I ask a totally random question - I'm looking to buy a slow cooker- we're out of the house from 7am-6pm each day and I thought it would make nice healthy stews - has anyone got experience of leaving one on for this long? Do I need one with a timer?!

Any help greatly appreciated to help with weight loss and ttc! (It's kind of linked?!) xx

notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits · 13/08/2018 18:26

Hi!! I am a secret lurker on here and waiting to try sometime in 2019 all being well!

I just wanted to say @Pinkroseuk you HAVE to get a slow cooker. Ours is only a cheap one from Argos but we make spag bol, chilli, sausage casserole, chicken/beef stews and have done chicken fajitas! We've even tried to make porridge over night but it didn't turn out very well...

Ours is simple high/low/warm/off and we usually just have it on low for 6-8 hours. You can find loads of recipes online and on Pinterest if you have it ☺️

cupcakesandglitter · 13/08/2018 18:44

@Pinkroseuk i have a slow cooker but have zero idea how to use it/what to make!

@notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits hi! Are you TTC next year? Xx

Sorry I've had a super busy weekend celebrating my anniversary etc... I'm feeling really weird and wondering if anyone knows what this could be?

My boobs are super sensitive (logged this onto Flo and it's showing that they usually are these few days) BUT last night I had a really crampy ovary, and then today I was doing some washing and the worktop was sort of rubbing my lower belly (think very low belly where I usually get period pains) and it's painful! It's not normally painful, but every time I touch it it's hurting a lot inside so I know it's not a bruise etc, just tender. Zero idea what it is, can anyone help? Xx

Jelliestogether · 13/08/2018 18:52

@pink you have to get one! They are amazing! Especially in winter. I'm not very good with ideas of what to cook but it does amazing chillies, stew and curries. I usually put it all together the night before, pop it in the fridge then chuck it on before I leave the house at 6, then my other half dishes his up at 6pm ish when he gets home. Turns out no problems. Ours only has low medium and high heat. We just never use to high heat as we leave it on for so long.

@cupcakesandglitter ouch no idea what that is but hope it gets better for you!

I'm currently feeling mega bloated and having on off cramp/twinges atm.

@notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits hi! Welcome to the thread. No need to lurk any more! Plenty of people on here waiting til 2019!!

Pinkroseuk · 13/08/2018 19:10

Welcome @notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits
Thanks that sounds ideal- I think I'm going to get one and give it a go! I like the idea of a nice dinner ready made!

@cupcakesandglitter no idea I'm afraid but hope it feels better soon.

@Jelliestogether sounds perfect- yes I like the idea of making it up the evening before :)
Yeah low would be best for us too- I'm slightly scared it would blow the house up but they are meant to be left on so not sure why I think this!

Pinkroseuk · 13/08/2018 19:40

Just made it to half an hour on the cross trainer- feeling shattered now but better! :D who knew this ttc would be so hard!!

Tash32 · 13/08/2018 20:48

@pink omg slow cookers are amazing. There are fab recipes on Pinterest and you can leave them on for hours depending they type maybe.

@cupcakes. I have had similar pains in the past quite often really uncomfortable and mostly through the night. But yet to be explained I’m afraid. Because it’s only lasted a few hours a time, iv never investigated. Sorry for being no help xx

Goostacean · 13/08/2018 21:12

I’ve had to write out a separate list to keep track of everyone, before I could reply! Grin

Well done on your efforts, @pinkroseuk I'll be interested in your experience with a slow cooker if you get one, I’ve been eyeing them up for a while… But, like you, job takes me out of the house for more than 6-8hs. Please report back on 11-12h recipes if you do get one! I’m sure you can get one with a delayed start, for example…?

@PastaSauceHoarder I know you asked a few days ago, but period 12 DPO sounds right to me! Fingers crossed it’s the real deal :)

@springsummerautumnwinter 25 people LEFT to buy for?! I only start with 25…! I’m actually living abroad currently and I think we’ll be landing in the UK on Dec 22nd, so I’m going to make online shopping my friend, so that we only need to wrap the gifts and we’ll be ready.

@dottydally and @rollerskaterdata you asked about my implant removal… Well, I’ve decided not to use NFP, I’ve realised in the last few days that it’s really important to me that I don’t get pregnant before next summer - for various reasons I’ve ended up taking 15 months out of work (maternity plus extension beyond that) so will only be back in April. I got promoted whilst on mat leave, in June, so really keen to go back and have at least a good year in the new role before taking another mat leave. Have decided on condoms (joy), at least for the time being.

@notabump I’m waiting til 2019 too! And I believe @Jelliestogether is waiting til Christmas, so there’ll be a few of us loitering once the rest have gone off to the “pregnancy” and “parenting” boards Smile

Pinkroseuk · 13/08/2018 21:29

I've decided I'm going to get one!
I will report back in the next couple of weeks @Goostacean.
Going to get one next week when payday comes :)

PastaSauceHoarder · 13/08/2018 22:28

Ooh I have no knowledge of slow cookers but I'm interested in them! You'll have to let us know how you get on with it once you buy one, @Pinkroseuk. And well done you with the cross trainer, I wouldn't be able to go five minutes, let alone half an hour!

Hi there, @notabumpjusttoomanybiscuits! If I'm correct theres a few ladies on this thread waiting until 2019 so you're not alone. Smile

Well I finally did start my period! 🎉 I feel like hell and I have spots erupting all over the place but I'm happy. Smile Feels like another little step in the right direction.

Jxtina86 · 13/08/2018 22:44

We're also planning on getting a slow cooker this autumn so we don't have to worry about cooking every evening and I can use it to batch cook lunches.

In other news AF has finally arrived this evening so we are now officially Cycle 1 of TTC. Can't quite believe it and to everyone still waiting, it'll come round so quickly honestly! Wishing everyone the best of luck with plans and TTC... I'm sure I'll still be lurking here too...!

Goostacean · 13/08/2018 23:25

Best of luck, @Jxtina86!

Tash32 · 13/08/2018 23:40

@PastaSauceHoarder whoop. That is fab. Good luck hun xx

@jxtina that is amazing, I’m happy for you xx. Good luck What cycle day? If you don’t mind me asking? I am still waiting... while on hols xxx

Fingers and toes crossed for everyone ttc xxx

Jxtina86 · 14/08/2018 06:28

Thanks ladies!

@Tash32 I had a 38 day cycle. It was my first off the pill so who knows if this is the new normal or not! Fx AF arrives for you soon!
