@Pasta: don’t worry, I had no idea what to do either! I’ve started reading Taking Charge of your Fertility, but @Jxtina is spot-on with the basics: take your temperature at approx. the same time every morning after you wake up (before sitting up or taking a drink or anything) and then keep a record of it. I can’t remember off the top of my head what the indication is that you’ve ovulated - might be an increase in temperature??

Oh and we were just using condoms as birth control prior to TTC, as I can’t take hormonal birth control for various reasons - so no, sadly it’s not that chasing issues! Sad

BusyBee27 · 02/08/2018 22:42

Sorry, that should be ‘causing issues’!!

NoseringGirl · 02/08/2018 22:43

@BusyBee27 did you use cheapie OPKs? I've had a few months where I've not had a fully positive one (they've got darker but never quite as dark as the control line) but still had a temp rise and then AF after my usual luteal phase. So I ovulated but didn't get a proper positive. There's a few things that can make that happen so I wouldn't panic!

Jxtina86 · 02/08/2018 22:54

@PastaSauceHoarder honestly if you have an app, it does the working out for you. Taking the temp just becomes routine- been doing it for a month and it's the first thing I reach for now in the morning. Takes 30 seconds total from waking up to logging temp.

@BusyBee27 think it's when your temp drops low and then rises sharply? I say low, the chart makes it look very dramatic (proper V style!) but when I look at the actual temps it's quite a small drop and rise in reality

BusyBee27 · 02/08/2018 22:57

@Nosering: that’s really interesting, as yes it was cheapy internet ones I was using (I felt bad using the really plasticky ones, as I had to use them for about two weeks due to irregular cycle length!) ... the darkest lines I got can be seen in the attached. I’ll definifely start charting, in that case!!

BusyBee27 · 02/08/2018 22:59

@Jxtina, yep that sounds right 👍🏻

PastaSauceHoarder · 02/08/2018 23:36

Thanks so much for explaining, @BusyBee27 and @Jxtina!

Although its not as dark as the control line its still pretty dark, BusyBee. Is there any chance your wee could've been diluted a bit? It looks super close to a positive!

Are you both waiting on periods at the mo? Its been exactly a month since I had my coil removed so I'm waiting for something to happen. I had horrendous cramps and backache the last week so I thought things were rolling but according to my OPKs I actually ovulated instead. I hope thats normal! Confused

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/08/2018 11:11

Hi everyone! Hope you're all doing well.
Sorry to jump back onto this thread and use it for my own selfish purpose!! But....
@PastaSauceHoarder. I've been catching up on the thread and saw that you got married when you were pregnant. I'll be 20 (ish) weeks when we get married and I'm starting to stress a bit that my dress isn't going to fit and that I'm going to look like a great big walrus walking down the aisle.
How far gone were you and how did you feel on your wedding day?
I'm worried people are going to think I shouldn't be wearing white and having such a fancy wedding now I'm up the duff!

Also, for everyone that already has children, how big were you at 20 weeks? My dress starts to flare at where my ribcage stops so I'm hoping that I'll manage to get away with it... although I'm fully aware I'm probably being massively naive!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/08/2018 11:12

flare out sorry! Auto correct..

PastaSauceHoarder · 03/08/2018 12:31

Hiya @AssumeItWasSomethingClever, hope all is going well! 💛 I was 27 weeks gone when I got married and honestly I felt amazing. Maybe it was the excitement and adrenaline but I felt wonderful all day, completely drunk on happiness. I did stow off and have myself a quiet five minutes up in our hotel room during the afternoon, just to have a little sit down. But other than that I had no problems at all. Smile

Regarding your bump size I'm afraid thats not something anyone can predict! If you see the photo I've attached to this post, thats me and my sister-in-law on my wedding day. We were only due three days apart, but her bump was significantly bigger than mine. She IS a lot taller than me, so maybe it has something to do with your body shape?

I'll see if I can dig out a 20 week bump photo when I get home (I love looking through my old pregnancy stuff so its no chore to me! Wink)

crazychemist · 03/08/2018 13:45

Hi assume! Hope all is going well with you?

I was still pretty small at 20 weeks, if you didn't know me you wouldn't know, ifswim. By 24 weeks I was pretty huge though! I'm afraid you can't know for sure, but first bumps are usually quite small at that stage.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/08/2018 15:05

@PastaSauceHoarder Your dress is lovely! Where did you get it from if you don't mind me asking? There is quite a bit of difference between your bumps, isn't there! Thank you very much for the photo Smile

@CrazyChemist I'm very well thank you. Feel pretty much normal so far... touch wood! I'm hoping I can eat healthily and minimise weight gain up until the day after the wedding then pig out on the honeymoon to get my moneys worth from all the alcohol I won't be drinking!

Thank you both for the reassurance. I think I'm just having a little panic as my seamstress has said she can't alter my dress now I'm pregnant as I'll need "specialist adjustments" Angry

rollerskaterdata · 03/08/2018 15:39

Hi all, hope you don't mind me jumping back in quickly either! @AssumeItWasSomethingClever my bump at 20 weeks was pretty non existent lol! If you didn't know me you couldn't tell I was pregnant and when I went in for my 20 week scan I remember people being surprised, thinking I was there for my 12 week scan instead! I was actually gutted as I wanted a bump desperately, it didn't start really growing until I was about 23/24 weeks and by the time I gave birth at 38 weeks I was a whale 😁🐳

PastaSauceHoarder · 03/08/2018 16:18

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever thank you! It was from ASOS - only £40. Wink
Oh no about your dress though!! Do you think you'd try and get it specially altered or would you maybe try looking for a new one?

I wanted a big bump too @rollerskaterdata, I used to hate it when people would say how tiny I was. I wanted a baby bump, not to look like I'd just eaten a little bit too much. 😂

PastaSauceHoarder · 03/08/2018 16:25

There we go, its not the brightest photo I'm afraid but that was my 20 week bump - pretty small!

It's Friday! Wine

Hello @AssumeItWasSomethingClever! Lovely to see you here.

@PastaSauceHoarder cute bump! I have no idea how big I'll get, but I suspect it'll be whale like..

So it is 32 degrees here and I'm off to kill myself bootcamp. It's 2 hours tonight. I may die. I will let you know if I make it out alive.

rollerskaterdata · 03/08/2018 18:36

@PastaSauceHoarder such a cute bump! I think mine was even smaller than that! (Much to my dismay 😂)

@dottydally I did a half hour bootcamp during my lunch break today and nearly died...I lost all shame and lay on the ground spread eagled when we finished! 🤣

Pinkroseuk · 03/08/2018 19:54

Just catching up on the last day or so-

I really need to join a boot camp or something - there's not much around where we live (we out in the sticks) so was Looking to get some sort of machine for home? Has anyone tried this or got any recommendations?

I have also been feeling really hungry and tired (like asleep by 7.30pm) the last couple of weeks - starting to think my hormones might be all over the place and still no sign of AF :/

dottydally · 03/08/2018 20:08

@rollerskaterdata I'm halfway, 510 calories down! I am sweating like nothing I've ever seen before though..

dottydally · 03/08/2018 20:12

@Pinkroseuk I also live in the sticks! Its a 20 minute drive to my local bootcamp. It's hard to get the motivation to go sometimes but i feel so much better once I've been! I really want to cross the 10 stone barrier and get down to the high 9's, that's my motivation - it will give me a BMI of around 20, which is still in the healthy range! I've also done a super healthy food shop so I'm really feeling it!

Pinkroseuk · 03/08/2018 20:20

Well done @dottydally !
Yes I have been eating about half my usual amounts and healthier for last couple weeks but don't seem to be shifting it!
So scared I don't loose the weight by time next hospital appointment and I get turned away for another 6 months :(

dottydally · 03/08/2018 20:41

@Pinkroseuk when is your next appointment again? And how much to lose?

Pinkroseuk · 03/08/2018 20:43

@dottydally another 3 Months - have to loose 40kg in total - so far in last month lost 5kg :/

Pinkroseuk · 03/08/2018 20:57

If I loose another 20kg then I would have a BMI of 30 - the hospital said 30 or under so maybe if I aim for loosing 20kg by the appointment and then carry on a little like till Christmas - they might be happy with that! It's a lot to loose with no guidance in 4 Months!

PastaSauceHoarder · 03/08/2018 21:09

Sorry @Pinkroseuk, I know you've said before but what is this appointment for again? Sorry, theres so much that goes on on this thread!

@dottydally I'm jealous of your motivation. Shock Well done you! What did you get in your healthy food shop?
