Another frozen fruit eater here!! Straight out the freezer!

@dottydally well done on the boot camp!

Love how organised you all are thinking about nursery designs! I don't even think I would decorate a spare room for the baby until it was nearly ready to go in there...Is that strange!?

It's now August! That means some of you are officially ttc!

dottydally · 01/08/2018 07:02

@cupcakesandglitter it's just an independent one near me, on the grounds of my old school! They use the playground and field to do circuit type training.

It's £6 a session or £5 if you buy a pass for 6 sessions. You can go up to 3 nights a week but I'm not sure I can do that!

@Pinkroseuk frozen fruit is often a lot cheaper. I also buy frozen mango, pineapple and mixed berries for smoothies! And I put frozen berries in my porridge for breakfast whilst it's in the microwave as I find they go mushier & mix in nicely! My freezer is my best friend when it comes to meal planning.

Pinkroseuk · 01/08/2018 07:15

Some good ideas thanks @dottydally.
I use the freezer for most things - batch cook and freeze for the ease when late home from work ect and we get all our meat and bread reduced and just freeze it.
DH works for a massive soft fruit growers so we often get freebies but if I end up with too much it often goes to waste as he won't touch it ( he taste tests at work so eats a couple kg a day!)

Yeah totally understand @Jelliestogether. I don't think we would have thought about design unless we had moved and didn't really want to paint the room twice.

Can't believe it's August already- this year has flown by in some respects and other ways still waiting.

dottydally · 01/08/2018 07:21

@Jelliestogether I'm not sure how early I'd actually paint it, but I'd definitely have a plan. I am an over planner though! My mum painted my nursery at 7 1/2 months pregnant - my dad had a fit as she was up and down the ladder (sideways of course, as her bump wouldn't fit).

@Pinkroseuk I'd love your husbands job, i eat a hideous amount of fruit. Bananas are my current favourite.

I feel like this year has flown by and I am so very grateful for that. I am expecting it to fly pretty much to next February, by which time I can burn the condoms! 2018 has been a bit of a rubbishey year so far with a whole host of family issues, so I'm looking forward to drawing a line under it and moving on to what will hopefully be a very exciting 2019!

PastaSauceHoarder · 01/08/2018 11:22

Really sorry to hear that you've had a rubbish year @dottydally, I bet 2019 will be so much better for you! Flowers

This year has gone quick indeed! I can't wait for November (only 91 days, not that I'm keeping count or anything Wink) but at the same time I desperately don't want to wish away this precious time I have with my first born. I feel quite conflicted sometimes - I definitely really want another baby with a close age gap, but at the same time I feel guilty that I'm going to change her whole world. Sad

Jxtina86 · 01/08/2018 11:50

Hi all - eek so much happening on here! I can barely keep up! Hope you're all well 😊

So I'm supposedly due AF today and then we're officially TTC (yay!) But I'm completely thrown - I've got none of my usual AF symptoms that I used to get on the pill. However I'm doing BBT and it's been dropping the last few days and then yesterday and today it's creeping back up. Google suggests this means AF is due (I'm new to this all so relying on Dr Google...) but just wondered if anyone else tracking BBT has the same? My boobs feel bigger but no tenderness (which I usually get) or any brown spotting/discharge (apologies for tmi). I don't think it's ovulation as had temp drop and cramps earlier in the month around CD12... So confused! I just want AF here so we can start trying properly (although we were sort of this month lol) Any suggestions?!

rollerskaterdata · 01/08/2018 13:15

@Pinkroseuk, thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it!

AF turned up today 2 days early so I'm officially CD1 and TTC! I can't believe it! After all that waiting the day is actually finally here! I was so surprised by AFs early appearance I was stood staring at the toilet paper in the bathroom at work for ages 😂 and then had to rush to my local supermarket for tampons! Fx AF turns up for you today @Jxtina86, we can be TTC and CD buddies! I definitely want to stick around and see how all you lovely ladies are getting on, you've been my support group the past few months and I can't imagine not checking in every now and then! Love and baby dust to you all, and wishes your waiting period flies by really quickly Smile x

Jxtina86 · 01/08/2018 14:05

@rollerskaterdata yay for AF arriving for you (that's the last time I will ever say that as all future AFs will not be welcomed!) Thank you for the fx - It sometimes comes late afternoon so here's hoping.

rollerskaterdata · 01/08/2018 14:36

@Jxtina86 future AFs are definitely NOT welcome! Here's hoping yours comes this afternoon! 🤞

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 17:41

@Jxtina86 I've only temped twice this month so I can't advise sorry, hopefully your AF turns up soon!!!

@dottydally oh that's good! I need something to get me off my arse more 😂

@Pinkroseuk I'm so jealous of your DH 😂 I love fruit, I just think it's so bloody expensive! I'd eat it all day every day if I could 😩

Guys I'm really torn! So I've double checked and it turns out we can start TTC this month as I'd qualify for the mat pay, BUT, I'm super worried. To qualify, I need to have worked for a year by the time I'm 15 weeks before EWC. Which I qualify for if I add 40w onto start of AF date (today)

If I was to get pregnant this month, I will have worked at my current job for a year when I'm 26weeks... BUT WHAT IF I HAVE THE BABY BEFORE THE EWC?! Can the dates change? If my maternity pay was then supposed to start before EWC, would I then lose out on my enhanced mat pay? I would love to start TTC this month, I really can't wait 😂

Also I read somewhere that alcohol massively reduces chances of conceiving - is this true? It's my anniversary week soon and I was planning on drinking a little a lot

Help would be greatly appreciated, I feel like I'm going crazy 😭

rollerskaterdata · 01/08/2018 17:51

@cupcakes, in my experience dates can and do change. My EDD changed twice when I was pregnant with my son because I had scans at 4, 5, 7 and 12 weeks. The rate of growth is so variable in those first 12 weeks your dates could change by a few days either way. I also gave birth at 38+2 so nearly 2 weeks before my due date. If I understand your post correctly, are you saying you won't clarify until the day you give birth basically? So earliest is 40 weeks from today and they every day after that?

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 18:03

@rollerskaterdata that's what I'm worried about 😩 well a year is the second week of jan, which means the latest I could be pregnant is 15 weeks before due date - sorry if it's confusing, I don't really understand it either 😂😂

crazychemist · 01/08/2018 18:18

Wow, so much movement on this thread!!!

Can I do a quick check to see if I have got my head round everyone still on this thread?

Assume -bfp due approx April
Dotty - waiting for 2019 because of promo
Spring - waiting for 2019 because of wedding
Cupcakes - waiting for September for mat pay
Roller skate - ttc Now
Pasta sauce - waiting for Nov to avoid DC1 birthday
Kincat - ttc now
Jellies - DH wobbling

Random - has DTwins (4)
Jxtina - ttc now
crazy (which is me) - waiting for Dec to avoid baby in next academic year (teacher)

Who have I missed/got wrong? Sorry if I've got anything mixed up!

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 18:23

@crazychemist that sounds about right! I can't believe some are already TTC, it's gone by so quick 😊 hopefully over time we'll all be talking about pregnancy!!

OP posts:
mussie · 01/08/2018 18:38

@cupcakesandglitter sorry to duck back into this thread randomly, but the day you give birth doesn't matter! They go by the date that your midwife puts on your Mat B1 form, given to you after 20 weeks. That date is the one you get at the 12 week scan. That scan can change your due date by a few days compared to your LMP, and sometimes even by a week - if it's cutting it fine, maybe best to wait until next month so that you definitely have a bit of leeway!

dottydally · 01/08/2018 18:54

@cupcakesandglitter shame you're not near me, I could take you with me!

I have to agree with others, I know you really want to ttc now, but you'll be able to enjoy it a lot more if you aren't worried about maternity pay, it would be awful if you missed out by just a few days.

@Jxtina86 hello! Good luck for AF!!

@crazychemist what a fab list! I don't know what I'd do without you all..

Pinkroseuk · 01/08/2018 18:59

@dottydally and @cupcakesandglitter I know! It's so expensive so glad of the occasional free fruit and getting to test the new varieties :)

Really glad that AF has arrived for some of you and your starting to ttc :)

We're looking at booking a holiday tonight so that might take my mind off things- it's been a rubbish week so far.

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 19:13

Hi @mussie it's been a while!! I think I agree with both you and @dottydally - it's sensible and it's the reason we changed from August to September in the first place... I just hate waiting, especially now I have baby clothes and stuff (I've also found a picture of how I want to do the nursery, I've attached the pics!)

@dottydally omg that would've been such a good idea 😩

@Pinkroseuk ooh nice! Thinking of anywhere in particular? X

@cupcakesandglitter love that picture :)

We have a little wardrobe and chest of drawers/changing unit already as they were mine when I was a baby- my parents had a reshuffle so we had them. I have seen a few cots we like too but it seems too soon to get that.

We're thinking Edinburgh- also tempted by lands end (totally opposite ends of the country) has anyone been to either?!

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 19:54

@Pinkroseuk oh that's so lovely, that'll be so nice and sentimental x

I've been to neither 😂 but I'm thinking the weather will be nicer near lands end? I've heard Edinburgh is beautiful xx

OP posts:
crazychemist · 01/08/2018 19:54

Ooh cupcakes, that looks lovely. Hope you enjoy the decorating! We moved when DD was 18 months, and she'd been in with us in a bedside cot until then. We still haven't decorated her room as I reckon in a year she'll have opinions, so we figured we'd wait for that! Plus by then we'll hopefully be expecting DC2... we'd probably like them to share a room once currently hypothetical baby is out of cot, but don't want to jinx by decorating a room for two!

Pink, I love Edinburgh. I think it's a wonderfully romantic city, especially the gardens around the castle. You can get a bus to the seaside too! I hear it's not so good when it rains though.

My DH is having the opposite of a wobble. Look away to avoid tmi! He thinks we should just stop using condoms and let things take their natural course. I think he just doesn't want to use them any more. I get that they aren't ideal, but we REALLY can't afford to get preggers straight away! So annoying having to be the firm one on this when my hormones would love to ditch the contraception and get jiggy!

cupcakesandglitter · 01/08/2018 19:58

@crazychemist I'm a sucker for decorating 😂 I can't wait 😂

Would you keep it neutral if baby no 2 is a boy? Xx

Omg your DH 😂😂 mine has been the same recently, in the moment he's so winey because he just thinks we should stop using them - I agree though, it's not worth the chance!! At least we know when it comes to TTC we know they're on board and we won't have to suffer with disgusting condoms again

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 01/08/2018 20:01

@cupcakesandglitter yes it will be lovely x

Yes I'm thinking the weather will be better down south-
We're looking at a campsite to the east Of Edinburgh that you can walk to the beach from and you get sunsets too -
Need to look at how long it will take to get to them too!
@crazychemist I was worried about midges too- or are they just round the lochs?!
Your DH sounds like mine too- again tmi- everyday I have lets dtd and make babies! I have explained several times that it's highly unlikely as I'm probably not ovulating but he thinks there's a chance! (He hates condoms too- think we have only ever used about twice!)
He also knows how desperate I am to leave work but can't till I get the maternity pay!

crazychemist · 01/08/2018 20:28

cupcakes it would probably depend on what DD wanted. Hopefully she wouldn't go for bright Barbie pink! Fingers crossed that by next summer I am expecting baby of known gender and we can perhaps steer choices appropriately.... we do have another bedroom if necessary, but I really like having a proper guest room as we often have friends over and my DMIL stays fairly frequently.

Glad to hear it's not just my DH! I think when he gets home tonight I'll tell him that we can stop using condoms if he agrees to do half the night wakings..... that'll put a stop to that idea! (Dd1 has severe sleep apnoea so rarely sleeps through even now she's nearly 2)

pink I don't remember there being midges... but I guess that might be weather dependent. I would guess it would mostly be around the lochs, the city itself doesn't have that much standing water.

NoseringGirl · 01/08/2018 20:30

Hello! I'm still following you all and loving seeing people pop up on the TTC buses!
Just delurking to say @Pinkroseuk I just got back from a trip to Edinburgh and it was beautiful. It was unusually hot most of the time we were there but even when it rained it was a lovely place to be.
I'll go back to lurking now 🤣 looking forward to seeing more of you on the buses though!
