Just popping in to say hi to the new people! I've been off it for a little while as was on holiday in South America. So just skimmed through the posts, seen lots or people on a weightloss. I'm also waiting to be fitter so have taken up running which I'm enjoying my parkruns on a Saturday morning!

Now I need some advice from you lovely lot....prior to going to south America (zika zone) I spoke to my GP who said I could start ttc on my return as long as I wasn't ill or get bitten whilst away as I was travelling alone and in high altitude where the mosquitos are low risk. I'm due AF at the weekend, my plan is to ttc after that but my oh thinks we should wait the full 8 weeks?!

crazychemist · 11/07/2018 14:34

Hi All!
I'm a lurker, and thought as there are quite a lot of new people I'd pop my head up!
Waiting to ttc number 2 (DD is 22 months). For job/financial reasons it wouldn't be sensible to start to ttc until Christmas. Currently feels like forever! I love my DD to pieces but miss baby cuddles now she's a big stomping toddler. DH wants to start right away and keeps talking about how wonderful it would be if i was pregnant again, so it's very hard to hold my resolve.

It sounds like there are a few of you waiting till Christmas/new year, so hope we can keep each other company! I'm hoping to use some of the time to shift baby weight too, still a stone heavier than I was pre-DD...

Bubblemumma1 · 11/07/2018 17:57

Hi to all the new people!

@crazychemist we’re going to start TTC at roughly the same time as you and I’m already impatient! I’m pretty sure joining this group has made me even more broody.

I’m going to start using OPKs after my next period because I don’t think I’ve started ovulating yet. We’ve been getting carried away this month Blush

PastaSauceHoarder · 11/07/2018 19:02

I know what you mean @crazychemist, my daughter is a bit younger than yours (shes 13 months) and shes the world to me but I can't help thinking about how lovely it would be to have a second child! I found myself absent-mindingly looking at double buggies the other day - the wait must be sending me mad!
Whats everyone doing to take their mind off it all? I keep buying little bits and pieces to make my house look nice, that seems to be helping. Plus I'm planning on making a busy board over the summer for my current little person.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 12/07/2018 11:48

Currently on day 40 of my cycle. Is anyone else's cycle massively screwed since coming off hormonal contraceptives? OH thinks I should go to the doctors to get it checked out but I think they'll just say its the pill that's caused it.
We had quite a safe month this months all bar one "pull out and pray". Might do a PT tonight to make sure.

organised5 · 12/07/2018 12:55

@DoveGreyLove sorry very delayed reply. We went to the Maldives. We didn't see a single mosquito when we were there as it was in off-season so fairly windy. I'd say the chances of us having it were very low to start with, plus then with the test coming back as negative that has given us enough comfort. As a woman you only need to wait 8 weeks so I did not bother getting the test - just my husband, otherwise it would have been 6 months.

DoveGreylove · 12/07/2018 15:34

Jelliestogether Hope you had a lovely holiday! I would personally wait the 8 weeks as it's not long. I was warned that not all mosquito bites create a reaction on the skin and Zika can be asymptomatic, so you may never know if you were bitten/had the virus. As you were in a high altitude environment your chances are pretty low though!

organised5 Ooh the Maldives, how lovely! Unfortunately for us, my husband got a couple of mosqutio bites on holiday and he wasn't sure when he got them (apparently the Aedes mosquito is a day biter, not a night biter). We are getting the blood test at the end of the month but he told me last night he wants to wait the full 6 months even if we get the results we need Sad Was secretly hoping we may try a month or so early but I guess I have to respect his opinion on it and one month more isn't really the end of the world if it keeps our minds at rest.

Having a pretty down day today about waiting, I'm assuming it's because of what husband said last night and it's just reminded me how much I want it.

Jxtina86 · 12/07/2018 17:41

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I've only just come off the pill so can't comment on cycle lengths but just wanted to say that I think it's quite common! My friend had a 60 day cycle when she came off the pill. What were you on? I was on Yasmin (well the generic version of it) and heard such mixed reviews. I've put 35 day cycle into Flo just to keep my expectations in check but who knows. PG test should hopefully put your mind at ease! Or bring you some early good news?!

Jelliestogether · 12/07/2018 19:27

@assumeitwassomethingclever my cycles since coming off the pill were all over the place (29-57 days) - I went under investigations - bloods and an ultrasound nothing was found so just was advised a multivitamin. This will be the first cycle on it...currently at day 39 and no sign of AF so not sure if it'll help or not!

@dovegreylove @organised5 oh I know 8 weeks isn't that long really I'm just inpatient now! I've looked up some research which states all areas are low risk with the altitude. Will discuss it with the OH and see what his opinion is! I think he will have the final say!

In my heart I know we should probably wait but my concerns are that my long cycles might prevent/make it take a long time to actually conceive. Has anyone on here got long cycles and previously conceived easily?

crazychemist · 12/07/2018 19:38

jellies My cycles were bonkers pre DD, always irregular. We conceived pretty quickly. Even if you're not regular, you can still get a good idea of when you ovulate by tracking cervical mucus (sorry for being technical!). After withdrawal bleed from pill, nothing for 2 months, but reckon we conceived on second cycle after that.

Crickey pasta, double buggies fill me with horror! Hoping DD (who at current plan will be 3 by the time minicrazychemist is intended) will be tough enough to walk after new one is too heavy for sling/carrier. I'm hoping to be a total cheapskate second time round as we'll be able to afford bugger all if we're paying for nursery as well!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 13/07/2018 09:14

@Jxtina86 I was on Lucette which I think it the cheap version of Yasmin. Cycles so far have been 31 days, 38 days and now 42 days. 😫 I hope yours are a bit calmer.
@Jelliestogether good luck with the multi vitamin.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 13/07/2018 09:16

I did a pregnancy test last night when I got home from work which was negative. I had drank about 4 litres of water though so I was going to pop out and get a test at lunch.
Woke up this morning, entered my temp on natural cycles and was met with this...
My car is now also in the garage (sounding like a jet engine) so I have no way of going out the get another test.

springsummerautumnwinter · 13/07/2018 11:36

Assume

Exciting! I can't remember if you were trying now or were you waiting?

Would it be good timing?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 13/07/2018 11:41

@springsummerautumnwinter It is exciting! I'm trying not to let my brain go there though. We were waiting til September as we get married in October.
I'd be over the moon if I did happen to be pregnant but it would mean cancelling/moving forward a massive holiday we've booked with the in-laws for Feb (which to be honest wouldn't be the end of the world).
For the past week I've been getting pangs of what feels like period pain but it hasn't amounted to anything.

cupcakesandglitter · 13/07/2018 11:47

Sorry I've been super busy the past week but just skimming through - @AssumeItWasSomethingClever !!!! So exciting!! Are you going to try and test today or wait a bit longer? Fingers crossed for you! Xx

Jelliestogether · 13/07/2018 12:00

@crazychemist that's good to know! Thanks for the reassurance! I think I need all the reassurance I can get at the moment! I tend to over think !!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever ooo would that be good timing? Hope you get the answer you want! Like others I can't remember if your ttc yet or not!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 13/07/2018 12:26

@cupcakesandglitter We're going away tonight for the weekend to stay in a log cabin with friends so I don't think I'll have the opportunity to test as want to do it first thing in the morning to get an accurate result.
Will have to think of an excuse as to why I'm not drinking (wouldn't want to risk it just in case!) Will probably test first thing Monday. Not sure if I can wait that long though! Started to symptom spot but really not trying to get my hopes up.

@Jelliestogether It would be a couple of months sooner than I'd have liked to be honest as wouldn't be able to drink on my hen do or honeymoon. But I would be over the moon none the less!

crazychemist · 13/07/2018 15:05

assume that's so exciting! Fingers crossed for you xxx
You can have lots of fun on hen do without drinking - I went to one with 1 pregnant lady and 2 nursing mothers, so we all stayed sober out of solidarity and had an absolutely fabulous time. We actually had more fun than expected because we were all awake in time to enjoy a great breakfast!
As an excuse for not drinking - either medicine you're not supposed to drink with, or having a dry month to lose weight pre-wedding?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 13/07/2018 16:44

@crazychemist Thank you! I'm really trying not to get too excited. I keep getting light cramps so I'm completely in two minds as to whether it's AF but I know you can get implantation cramps. Been going on for about a week now so I'm really unsure. That's a brilliant idea about using losing weight for the wedding as an alibi! Thank you Smile

Bubblemumma1 · 13/07/2018 23:11

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever eek! How exciting!

Pinkroseuk · 13/07/2018 23:50

Fingers crossed for you @AssumeItWasSomethingClever :)

Jelliestogether · 15/07/2018 10:27

Not sure if the vitamins are doing anything or not but AF arrived after 41 days, this is down from 57 so fingers crossed!!

Feeling mega broody and wanting to ttc now more than ever as my friend gave birth to her baby last night!! Fingers crossed the other half is on board for this month. If not I'll have to not let him know how gutted I am as it's up to him now when we start.

cupcakesandglitter · 15/07/2018 10:44

@Jelliestogether sorry if I've missed it, what vitamins are you taking? Fingers crossed your cycle starts settling a bit more now!

Ladies would you say I have ovulated here?
I am trying to work my cycle out

(Still) Waiting to TTC... Part 2!
cupcakesandglitter · 15/07/2018 11:12

@takenitall I'd say the third one definitely! I noticed that I get a faint line on OPKs when I think I'm ovulating, but I think they only count when the line is the same/darker than the test line, and the third one looks the same x
