Hello again! Hopefully I've remembered everyone - apologies if I haven't, get tagging!

I also love making my own veggie soups - 5 a day rammed into one serving :)

dottydally · 01/07/2018 21:44

@Pinkroseuk I love the soups idea! What kind of soups do you make?

I also struggle with lunches. I either end up having sandwiches or leftovers heated up. But then I find I eat 2 cooked meals a day which can't be good?

Damage assessed, 10 stone exactly. I'm within the healthy range for my height but to be at my 'happy weight', I would like to lose half a stone. Feeling awfully motivated looking at nice food, just need to cut the snacking. . .

Pinkroseuk · 01/07/2018 21:57

@dottydally usually potato and leek, cauliflower, red pepper(or Mediterranean veg- can turn into chuck whatever is left over in the fridge in!) , squash, or broccoli I've done but not my favourite!

Yes my go to lunch is ham roll when I'm in a hurry, but I don't really enjoy it!
Sometimes I have a hot cross bun and a banana as I find it quite filling but it does get boring after a while!

Yes I find the snacking hard too- I definitely snack more at work- probably because others do and out of boredom sometimes.

dottydally · 02/07/2018 11:48

@Pinkroseuk have you done soups with meat in? Pret do a lovely Thai chicken one which is my guilty pleasure, but I'd love to make it at home!

Snacking seems to be an issue. Does anyone else have any healthy (but filling) snack ideas/recommendations?

Pinkroseuk · 02/07/2018 12:03

@dottydally no I haven't. - we tend to have a bacon sandwich or a cheese and ham toast is with it if we want!
So far this morning I have had grapes and strawberries and I'm hungry but trying to resist!

organised5 · 02/07/2018 13:23

Hi everyone. My first Mumsnet post! Hope I can join the thread Smile

We were waiting til we were married to TTC (2 months ago), but then accidentally booked our honeymoon to zika risk country... fail. My DH had the Zika test done after we returned, which has fortunately cut down the wait from 6 months to 8 weeks. Not long to go now!

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 02/07/2018 14:47

@organised5, Welcome! Congrats on getting married. Where did you go on your Honeymoon? Smile

Just to jump in on the weight conversation.... I need to lose a bit more weight before TTC and my wedding. I've already lost a stone and a half but would like to lose another 7 pounds (ish). Today was the first day back on my diet as I've fallen off the wagon a bit over the past month and put on a few pounds.
So far today I've had 2 cups of tea and an Alpen Light Bar and then a roast turkey salad for lunch along with a couple of mint humbugs and 2.5 litres of water. Having Jacket Potato with salad for dinner.

rollerskaterdata · 02/07/2018 18:32

welcome @organised, not long to wait then! I realised yesterday that I'll be trying in about 6 weeks (if cycle behaves) which seems really close now!

I also assessed the damage this morning and have put on about 5 pounds in the past few weeks due to bad eating (stress eating mainly). Really disappointed in myself, now fully motivated to lose a pound per week so that by my holiday/TTC time I'm back to my happy weight. We can do this!

@dotty, ideas for healthy snacks that I eat are 1 apple cut up with a small teaspoon of peanut butter; sliced halloumi and sliced apple; berries and yoghurt/cottage cheese; a banana; an avocado; handful of nuts etc. Meals are boring me for me as I'm lactose and wheat intolerant so mainly eggs, veggies and protein in various incarnations! Need to completely cut out the chocolate as that's my biggest downfall and I feel like I've been eating my bodyweight in it lately.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 02/07/2018 22:45

Got a bit of a gross question if that’s okay? Needing a little bit of advice. I’ve got quite a bit of EWCM this evening but im on CD28 and 12 days PO. Has anyone else had this? (TMI Warning) could it just be my insides clearing itself out?

DoveGreylove · 02/07/2018 23:13

Hi Everyone,

I disappeared off the thread as was on holiday!

Jumping on the losing weight wagon - I have been trying this past 6 months with some success but i have recently given up. I need to get back into my exercise but it's hard to stay motivated sometimes. I find dieting so hard as I love food too much :(

And welcome organised5! I am waiting to TTC for the same reason as you. Which Zika test did your husband take? Were you advised it was reliable?

I have an embarrassing question to ask... Has anyone bought anything for their future baby?? I did today. I feel a bit pathetic Blush. I also feel like i've tempted fate and maybe I should give it away as a gift to someone who actually has a baby Sad

DoveGreylove · 02/07/2018 23:16

AssumeItWasSomethingClever I dont think ive ever had EWCM so far into my cycle! Im usually spotting by then. How long are your cycles usually? How did you know you already ovulated? :)

KinCat · 03/07/2018 01:47

Do you guys track your cycles? I have a coil at the moment so don't get periods but I definitely have a cycle (judging by the pretty regular mood swings/headaches/spotting). I've never tracked it before but bought a basal thermometer the other day and am going to try it for a month see if I'm ovulating or not.

cupcakesandglitter · 03/07/2018 08:11

@DoveGreylove I did the other day! I have one outfit for a boy, and one for a girl 🙃 feel very stupid but I couldn't resist it!

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I haven't had EWCM in a long time so I'm not too sure I can help, sorry 😩 I think it was a couple of weeks ago though where I had a LOT of CM, more than usual... maybe it's our bodies doing their own thing? What have your cycles been like?

@KinCat I use the Flo app to track mine, I log all my symptoms in there as well as AF and others... I'd definitely recommend it! You can put your temp in there too :)

OP posts:
AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/07/2018 08:15

@dovegreylove I haven't got anything yet but it's very tempting! I know what you mean about tempting fate as that's the only reason I haven't got anything! How long have you got until you TTC?
I've never had it this late either! I've only had it a couple of times since coming off the pill 4 months ago. I'm wondering if my body is clearing out some that has sat further up.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/07/2018 08:18

@Kincat I use Natural Cycles and would highly recommend it. Apart from a lengthy cycle last month, it seems to know exactly what I'm going to do and when. If you need a discount code I think I have one somewhere!

@Cupcakesandglitter I hoping my body knows what its doing and I'm just looking into everything too much. My first two cycles after coming off the pill were 30 days. Last cycle was mega long at 38 days and this one my Naturalcycles is predicting to by 30 as well. According to the app, I've ovulated every month so far.

cupcakesandglitter · 03/07/2018 09:16

@AssumeItWasSomethingClever I think I posted a pic of mine on the old thread, my cycles seem to have 'settled' (31 days, 33 and 34) but I don't know what's normal - mine were crazy when coming off contraception... have you tried OPKs?

OP posts:
DoveGreylove · 03/07/2018 09:20

KinCat I track my cycles using an app and Basal Thermometer (BBT) and sometimes OPK's when I want to - they are expensive though so I have only done it for 2 cycles in the past 6 months.

BBT I think is a great way to work out if you are ovulating - once you do it for a few cycles you will hopefully spot a pattern, so you will be able to predict when you can "try" when you are ready to TTC. I have done it along with an OPK one month, just to check, and it definitely confirmed I was ovulating.

cupcakesandglitter Oh you bought one boy and one girl outfit! So cute! I bought a white knitted romper so it was unisex... I have a feeling I will have a boy so I just can't bring myself to buy a beautiful baby girl outfit Sad (but I'd really love a girl so I am just going to stick with neutral clothes for now just in case!).

AssumeItWasSomethingClever I know, I felt really pathetic after I bought it as I don't even know if I can GET pregnant? What if I can't have children? Concerned I have tempted fate by being positive and buying something to look forward to.

I have 3 months left, and I'm finding it really, really hard, as the wait is not our choice, it's my Dr/Zika Virus issue making us wait. Even though I think I'm being proactive by monitoring my cycles, it really hits me every time I realise I am about to ovulate and could be TTC. It gets me quite down. How long are you waiting for?

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/07/2018 09:33

@dovegreylove. The romper sounds adorable. Keep it! 😁 you haven’t got that long to wait! I know what you mean about feeling a bit down. I always feel like we’re missing the opportunity when I’m about to ovulate. We went to a wedding at the weekend where to bride was 7 months pregnant and she looked lovely. I was about to throw in the waiting towel😂 We’ve decided to start trying the month before our wedding so we’ve only got two months to wait.

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/07/2018 09:37

@cupcakesandglitter I've tried OPK's (only the cheap ones from amazon) and haven't got a positive yet. I've had a couple of lines but they haven't been as strong as the control line.

DoveGreylove · 03/07/2018 09:50

AssumeItWasSomethingClever Eek thats so lovely and so romantic. I wish we were ready to start trying when we got married! How exciting! It probably is the best idea to wait until the month before as you don't want to be suffering from potential morning sickness and exhaustion on your wedding day :)

Yes three months isn't too long to wait, I don't really know why i'm struggling so much with it. It doesn't help I have now had 9 pregnancy announcements this year - all close friends and family. They will all be having their babies around the same time. I feel quite left out and worried when my time comes round no one is going to care Sad.

P.S. the white knitted romper is super cute it melts my heart and makes my tummy flip when I look at it Blush

rollerskaterdata · 03/07/2018 10:44

@DoveGreylove and @Assume, I know exactly what you both mean, when you realise you're ovulating but can't do anything about it! It sounds weird but it almost feels like a wasted opportunity to me, I get so weak in my resolve at that time of month. I know I've only got 1 full cycle left before we start trying but now that it's so close I don't want to wait. I'm expecting AF at the end of this week and sooo want to just throw in the towel and have that as our first cycle trying. But I know that would mean being early pregnant on our holiday (assuming it even happened straight away!) and I know I would want to drink and eat unsafe foods etc whilst on holiday. Plus I have a few pounds to lose in the next 6 weeks. I'm so close to the finish line I'm getting more and more impatient every day that passes Sad

AssumeItWasSomethingClever · 03/07/2018 11:09

@dovegreylove. Thank you 😊 we’ve been together 8 years so we’re definitely ready!! Weve brought it forward from October to September. I’m due to ovulate a couple of days after I get back from my hen do and a couple of days before OH goes on his stag so it more than likely won’t happen that month anyway.

It’s always the way, when you want something everyone else seems to have it! I’m sure they’ll be just as excited for you and you were for them 😊

@rollerskaterdata I definitely think the wait gets harder the closer the end date gets!

KinCat · 03/07/2018 12:14

Thanks for the recommendations on the app Assume I'll probably use a free one until we properly start. I've been reading more about signs of ovulation and I'm sure I've come across some EWCM in my pants before! Not sure on frequency though.

I tried to get DH to come and look at baby clothes with me yesterday but he wouldn't Blush. The only thing I've got for future baby is a teddy bear which MIL gave me. She's sadly passed away now so I'm saving this teddy to give to her first grandchild (it's a very girly bear so I'm hoping the first baby is a girl!). I do love seeing it whenever I open the drawer its kept in and thinking of the babies we might have one day.

DoveGrey New babies are always cute and exciting! Anyway, either you'll be part of another group of friends all having babies together or you'll be the only one in your group and will get all the attention (plus make new mummy friends!)

organised5 · 03/07/2018 12:44

@DoveGreylove so he basically went to his GP and got referred to a testing clinic for it. He had the zika virus antibodies test which I think cost about £100 and he got results in 5 working days. They say it's not 100% accurate (I guess no test ever is) but we're comfortable with the test coming back negative, given the risk is so low anyway.

@KinCat I am using Clue - not sure what the difference is between that and Flo??

NeverHadANickname · 03/07/2018 15:38

Just a quick post from me to stop me eating the chocolate in the office 😊
