Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

luelle · 02/03/2018 20:26

I've come off the pill two months ago and that's when I thought I had 24 months to wait.. Blush trying to start tracking my cycle with the Glow app but still really irregular, hoping it all settles soon so in 12 months time it happens quickly!!

Lilsquish · 04/03/2018 09:31

Morning.

My period is now 9 days late (based on a 35 day cycle).

Sigh

Does anyone know of anything to help regulate periods?

RandomUsernameHere · 04/03/2018 11:28

Oh no poor you, must be so annoying. I think it would depend on what's causing the irregular cycles. Have you been to the Dr about it?

natureshaped · 04/03/2018 15:15

nosering it's expensive but worth it! Imagine going into labour thinking "there's not a hair on me!" Not that anyone cares about that during labour...

I am just starting to track my cycles- I chose not to go back on the pill after DD, so we are using a diaphragm. My natural cycle seems to be 30 days so I'm guessing I ovulate around days 12-15?

Mammac85 · 04/03/2018 15:35

Hi can I join please

Age: 32/31

We will be ttc #3

We aren't sure yet when we will start but it will be some point this year just have a few things to sort out first. Main one being getting my cyst removed Sad the other being a bigger car. We have 2 boys 7 and 6.

happytobemrsg · 04/03/2018 16:47

@Lilsquish is this the first time it has been late or do you normally have irregular periods?

@natureshaped I track my periods using FF and I also track CM. This was invaluable when TTC#1

@Mammac85 Welcome! Yes you will definitely need a bigger car! My DS (20 months) has just had a growth spurt (super long legs) & I'm trying to convince DH that 2 children means a nice big 4x4

OP posts:
Mammac85 · 04/03/2018 16:53

I'm really hoping for a nice 4x4 as we know we want 4 dc eventually so would need room for a lot of car seats lol. Do you find they all look huge though? I drive a focus and everything i look at that can take 4 children looks like a bus.

RandomUsernameHere · 04/03/2018 17:05

Welcome @Mammac85
Agree all those cars look huge! I love my estate at the moment. Massive boot but not too wide. We'd definitely have to think about changing it if we TTC#3.

happytobemrsg · 04/03/2018 17:31

The boot is definitely the issue. I have a small buggy & still it takes up the whole space

NoseringGirl · 04/03/2018 18:54

@natureshaped it depends on how long your luteal phase is, it will be around the same length every cycle (it's the follicular phase at can vary) and the average is 14 days but can be longer or shorter depending on that woman. Mine only seems to be 10 days, so if I had a 30 day cycle, I would ovulate on CD20. I also track using FF (all my data since 2011 when we started trying for DS1 is in there) and use Ava now as well.

Hi @Mammac85 hope the cyst removal goes well! We also need a bigger car as it'll be baby number 3 for us too. I like the look of some of the larger VWs.

Mammac85 · 04/03/2018 19:12

Hi everyone thank you for the lovely welcome.

@NoseringGirl thankyou but I'm trying so hard to put this operation off even though it's hopefully only keyhole it scares the crap out of me. Don't understand why I can't get pregnant with it there I was pregnant with Ds 2 when they found it and that pregnancy was fine.

I looked at the VW Tiguan allspace it looks lovely and price was pretty reasonable.

natureshaped · 04/03/2018 19:21

Thanks nosering!

Lilsquish · 05/03/2018 16:32

Yeah seem to be always irregular.
So frustrating as i like to plan!

Welcome MammaC xx

MrsXx4 · 06/03/2018 15:56

Hi all,

I only just joined this thread the other day but have just caught up on reading it all. We are waiting until May to try which I know is nothing compared to some of you ladies on here. I have been off the pill for about 10 months and my periods aren't too far off being regular however, they are still about 4-5 days out sometimes. I have an app on my phone and I try to log everything to work out my cycle.

My bathroom cupboard is already full of pregnancy tests and I have just bought folic acid and pregnacare to start taking throughout April ready for May TTC.

I am feeling particularly anxious at the moment about it all and I am having trouble sleeping and switching off. I have never in my life had a pregnancy scare for the past 10 month my husband and I haven't exactly been 100% careful and have thrown caution to the wind a few times but nothing has ever happened and I do worry that it wont be easy for us when the time comes.

I think I have made things worse for myself lately as...and I am embarrassed to admit this and I really don't know if I have jinxed myself, but I have bought a few baby grows and some little bits and pieces for our much wanted baby. I have packed them and hidden them away from DH as I know he will feel I have jinxed it!

We are the last in our friendship group to have children. We haven't told anyone, even our parents that we are going to start trying so its nice to be able to come on here and just let it all out!

happytobemrsg · 06/03/2018 16:01

@MrsXx4 DH & I used the "pull & pray" method for contraception (no condoms or the pill) without an oops baby so I had the same concerns as you. Then the month we started trying I fell pregnant with DS! The fact that you've not had any scares doesn't mean a thing!

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 06/03/2018 19:36

Welcome @MrsXx4 - I know how you feel as I'm in the same situation having not been particularly careful in recent months and have also stashed clothes away ( I'm a bit of a bargain hunter so have saves some good bargains and helps spread the cost)
I have had to take provera to force my periods to start again but hopefully in the next month or so we will be able to start TTC property :) I have found everyone so friendly on here it's lovely to come and chat :)

FlapJackered · 06/03/2018 19:38

@MrsXx4 Welcome! You could be me!
I am exactly the same with hoarding pregnancy tests and also with never having a scare. It does make me worried too. My cycles are so irregular which doesn't help matters! But I think we should just cross that bridge when we get to it, and try and keep positive. Smile
I am started TTC in May too.

RandomUsernameHere · 06/03/2018 19:56

Welcome MrsX
I think it's completely normal to be worried about it not happening, even if you have no particular reason to be worried. I was exactly the same. If you want something so much it's only natural not to take it for granted. For most people though there really is no reason to worry, so try and enjoy yourself!

Hofty · 06/03/2018 20:32

Hi MrsX!
I'm always really quite convinced that we'll struggle to conceive, based only on the fact that I took a few risks in my teenage years and nothing ever happened. I don't have anything other reason to think this, but I'm literally certain it'll take ages. Goodness knows why I do it to myself! Anyway, good luck to you and all the other ladies Flowers

NoseringGirl · 06/03/2018 20:33

Welcome @MrsXx4! We'll be starting in May too, seems quite close now. I've just started taking preconception vitamins and it's feeling quite real.
I think it's quite normal to have the worry about struggling to conceive. I think being on forums like this can amplify it as you read about all the struggles people have as obviously it's the place to come when you need support. You don't really read a lot from the people who get pregnant without really trying! On the positive side of that, you do get to read the good outcomes of people who have struggled (I was one of them!)
So hopefully you can take a bit of comfort in that too.

Lilsquish · 06/03/2018 20:34

Welcome MrsX

100% normal to worry

And the buying of baby stuff, you wont have jinxed it x

Hofty · 06/03/2018 20:35

Today I've started me 'get in shape for the wedding and subsequent ttc' diet/health kick. It feels good to be doing something active to get ready. My sister told me yesterday she's stared ttc Smile so September really can't quickly enough now! It would be soooooo nice to have overlapping pregnancies drifts off to dream happily

If I'm starting ttc on September 1st, when would you ladies recommend I start folic acid? I might try a pre-natal vitamin too.

Pinkroseuk · 06/03/2018 20:39

@Hofty I have been taking vitamins and folic acid since I came off the pill- a year now so hopefully the body is at the right level! I would think at least a month though?

Hofty · 06/03/2018 20:40

That post is absolutely full of typos.
I haven't been on the Wine promise!
