Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

@MrsG, I also watched OBEM last night and could almost feel the tugging of my womb, it's definitely only making the broodiness worse! It's only been a few weeks since DH and I decided to TTC this year rather than next and it already feels like months have passed, goodness knows how I'm going to cope over the next few actual months!

@TheOne and @Pinkroseuk, I've also had irregular periods the last 6 months although not PCOS, had an internal scan about a month ago as this is very unusual for me (used to be every 28 days on the dot whereas now all over the place). Also had bloods done, every is normal and they can't see anything wrong so I have no idea what's causing them. Not inspiring much confidence though and now I'm a little worried about TTC. I'm not sure I'd get any help either, I'm late 20s and if there's no apparent medical reason for irreg. periods would they even do anything Sad. It's really good and I'm sure reassuring for both of you that you're receiving the help you need Smile

It's also great having you all to talk to!

rollerskaterdata · 03/05/2018 23:40

@Jelly, congrats on finishing your studies and GL with house renovation planning! And yep, a few months to go! Do you have a month in mind? I keep being tempted to move my timeline up although I know that's not sensible Grin

NoseringGirl · 04/05/2018 09:44

@rollerskaterdata which blood tests did they do? How irregular are your periods? I understand the worry when your cycles change like that, especially when TTC because it makes it harder to pinpoint ovulation. It's all still doable though!

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 12:02

@NoseringGirl, they did FBC, thyroid, and kidney function, amongst other things (which all came back normal). FBC was a little low (always is as I'm constantly anaemic!) so I'm back on the iron, thyroid normal and between 1 and 2 (which was my main concern) and kidney function normal although showed that I need to drink more water so doing that. My periods are irregular within a few days of each other, so I've gone from 28 on the dot every month to between 25 and 31 days the past 6 months with no discernable pattern (31, 29, 25, 26, 31, 25) and they can't find anything wrong Confused. I've also had the coil in for over 2 years so not sure why it would be the cause of my irregularity after all this time. I'm fit and healthy and would say I carry as much stress as the next person so dunno!

NoseringGirl · 04/05/2018 12:30

@rollerskaterdata is that the copper coil or the one with hormones?

Jellybabies123 · 04/05/2018 13:23

@rollerskatadata not got a specific date in mind. I want July my other half is now saying after the summer....so we shall see! I want to ttc earlier than he does!

Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 13:52

Well done on completing the studies @Jelly :)
I am totally confused and trying to figure things out but its not working - there was 51 days between my last AF and have no idea when ovulated (if I did) - is it likely to be after 14 days, in the middle?! I need to take the next lot of tablets docs have given me a month after the first lot so 3 weeks after AF but will cause a miscarriage I was pregnant - will this be too early to pick up a BFP? Worried to do this in case I did ovulate late and had a BFP I would be taking the pills straight afterwards before it showed up?! Or am I overthinking and confused myself too much?!

happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 14:29

I meant to say, well done for completing your studies @Jellybabies123. What are you studying for? I'm currently a SAHM but used to work in the legal sector. Thinking of either helping DH with his business once DCs are in school or studying something completely different

happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 14:31

@Pinkroseuk do you get O pain? Can you track your CM? Sorry if TMI but I get a lot of ewcm when ovulating so for TTC#1 we had sex every other day as soon as I saw ewcm over about a week

happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 14:32

It's just hit me today - I'm ttc NEXT MONTH!!!

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 14:33

Question - I think I will be O while away with DH & the in laws next month. We are all staying in the same villa. Does that mean we should wait another month? Bit annoying

OP posts:
kez1875 · 04/05/2018 14:58

Your age/DH age: 25/30
Baby #: This will (hopefully) be our first
When are you TTC: We are going to start trying in June
Why are you waiting: We are waiting for mainly financial reasons, also we've just moved house and it would be nice to get that sorted before we TTC. I'm quite paranoid (with no reason to be) that we're going to have problems so I'm keen to keep our stress levels to a minimum.

What are you doing to keep busy?: talking about TTC none stop (not helping!) and this group has been a god send. I have a busy job too so that helps.

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 15:05

@Nosering, copper coil. I was irregular for a month or two after insertion then it settled down

@Jelly, that seems to nearly always be the case, we are ready before they are! Still July is only 2 months away so not long to go! Even if it is after the summer September is technically after summer so again not that long after July Wink we'd be TTC at the same time lol!

@Pinkrose, I also get EWCM and noticeable O pain when I ovulate, if you do too that might help you track a bit more accurately?

@MrsG, THAT IS SO EXCITING! I would just go for it tbh, nothing will stop me come September LOL!!

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 15:06

@kez1875 welcome! Smile

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 15:07

It just hit me that I'll still be here after all of you have left! Shock

happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 15:13

@rollerskaterdata we will all have to keep popping back to this thread! Or start our own ttc thread Wink

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 16:21

@happytobemrsg I had a bit of pain in that area on Tuesday so maybe I did! No worries! I think I have this week as had those symptoms. Sometimes it's hard as have no friends in the same situation so no one to talk to! I have noticed that I can smell a lot more in the last week - though that could be totally unrelated!
It's so exciting that your trying next month!

I'm going to hope that I have this week and maybe dtd tonight just in case!
@rollerskaterdata we will all have to keep popping back to say hi! :)

Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 16:26

Can anyone recommend a good early sign pregnancy test? I have run out of the cheap Tesco ones I was using and the clear blue ones so need to get some more this week anyway :) thanks

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 16:56

@MrsG and Pinkrose, yaye! It seems like you're all TTC around the same time so you could all start a new thread and then I'll just join anyway if you let me Grin my coil comes out next month anyway so it's possible I'll just break and start trying then hehe. Which is actually scarily likely given I spoke to my mortgage broker today and he said we could actually start looking for a house from next month even! If DH can get his NQT job lined up for September and prove he has a permanent employment contract in writing which is due to start within the next 3 months, we could actually be eligible for a mortgage now without payslips as some lenders accept that Shock looks like everything could be a go go much sooner than I ever anticipated!!

rollerskaterdata · 04/05/2018 16:58

@Pinkrose, I heard (though have never verified) that First Response Pregnancy Tests can be used soon after ovulation?

happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 17:01

@Pinkroseuk I used clear blue at 11dpo. I'll be sticking up on those again this time around. Shame they are so pricey. The more you track all your symptoms the more you'll see a pattern. Before I ttc for DS I tracked AF for about 2 years & CM for at least a year. But I think that's a bit obsessive 😂

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 04/05/2018 17:10

We should call the new thread "Anyone no longer waiting to ttc?"

@rollerskaterdata that's great news!!!! So exciting!! It's funny, it feels like you're waiting forever to ttc but I bet now it can be sooner than you think it's freaking you out!!

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 17:21

@rollerskaterdata it will come round so quickly! Just be careful that you won't end up paying a higher interest rate on the mortgage as we did something similar when we bought our first house and ended up on a ridiculous interest rate for the first two years compared to being able to provide payslips- things may have changed now though.
Thanks I will keep tracking and have a look on amazon for some pregnancy tests :)

NoseringGirl · 04/05/2018 17:27

@rollerskaterdata I wonder if your cycles will sort themselves out when the coil is out? If you're ovulating though then that's all that really matters, just a case of getting the timing right!

@happytobemrsg that sounds like my level of obsessive it's good to get to know your patterns though!

@Pinkroseuk I usually either use the cheapie tests that come with my OPKs or an own brand pink dye tests (I reckon they're pretty much identical to FRER). I tend to avoid blue dye tests as I've heard so many horror stories about false positives (though I got my first BFP with DS2 on a blue dye because DH bought it). I also avoid digis as they need a higher level of hcg to show positive. The tests that say 4 days or a week or whatever before your period tend to base their claims on people with a long luteal phase. Mine is only 10 days so I've never had a positive earlier than the day before AF is due.

cherryblossom4 · 04/05/2018 18:26

Hi all,

Both 29, thinking of TTC for #1 in Sept/Oct time, although probably ideally a few months later.

Both very broody and eager to get going. Reason for waiting is a combination: big holiday later this year, being bridesmaid in nov, and a little worried re parents reaction as have only been together a year.

Still on the pill, will probably come off in August to start tracking!
