Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

@FlapJackered, we're going to Spain in August Smile really looking forward to it as it's our first holiday away just the two of us for 5 years! As it's only a few weeks between our holiday and TTC in September it feels just as far away as TTC so not really taking my mind of it! Grin when are you TTC? (apologies you've probably said this already up thread!)

I read a review for Pregnacare conception tables and one woman said it messed up her cycles! Sad Anyone have experience with those in the past? Obviously not keen on using them if that's the case. I used Pregnacare's pregnancy tablets with DS1 and had no issues although they may not be exactly the same ingredients? I quite like the idea of taking organic/whole food pre natal vitamins although have no idea where to get them from in person rather than online

NoseringGirl · 01/05/2018 20:48

@rollerskaterdata I'm not sure what would be in vitamins that could mess with your cycles? Wondering if it could be a coincidence? Did she say what actually happened?

@FlapJackered I was 6 weeks pregnant with DS2 when we went to Barcelona. I felt quite sick and think that the garlic aversion I had for my entire pregnancy possibly started with Spanish food but we still had a great time. I even got one of those digital pregnancy tests over there so I could see the 'pregnant' bit in Spanish 🤣

I'm 7DPO today and even though we haven't technically been trying, we've not been overly careful and I keep convincing myself I'm getting 'symptoms' and could be pregnant. I also know it's way too early for symptoms! I think my TTC brain has been switched on again and it's already out of control!

FlapJackered · 01/05/2018 22:31

@NoseringGirl that's good to know! It wouldn't stop me ttc but would like to enjoy the holiday.
How exciting about the possible tww! You'll have to let us know if you test!

@rollerskaterdata that's not long at all, very exciting!
We are starting ttc this cycle! Although not predicted to ovulate until the start of June, so still waiting...

I got my pack through for the Clear Blue Trial yesterday which makes it all very real!!

TheOneWithTheBaby · 02/05/2018 06:21

Roller, I've heard that about the pregnancy multivitamins. I have no idea what would be in them to do that but I've read it a few times now.

Nose ring, that's exciting! I think I will be totally obsessed Solti g symptoms!

Zika test for DH today. Keep your fingers crossed everyone, as we'd have to wait another six months otherwise.

NoseringGirl · 02/05/2018 08:30

@TheOneWithTheBaby fingers crossed for your DH! How soon will you get the results?

@FlapJackered AF is due Saturday so will hold off testing until Sunday if it doesn't arrive! So tempted to test early but resisting!

BusyBee27 · 02/05/2018 12:34

@TheOne: good luck, fx for an all-clear on your husband’s test!

@Roller: yeah I read that on the reviews too, so have been taking the Seven Seas “Trying for a baby” vitamins instead ... can’t say I’ve noticed any difference at all with those and I’ve been taking them for a month now, so assuming they’re just quietly doing their job in the background!

@Nosering: fx for you! Good idea not to test before AF is due ... I caved this morning (12dpo) and tested with a Clear Blue early results stick (after having loads of promising symptoms for a few days) and got a BFN. So disappointed and sad, but I guess it’s only our first cycle, so we have time before we need to start worrying! If I could go back in time, I’d wait until my period was definitely late (although cycles change slightly from month to month, which makes things tricky) before testing, so think you’re right to wait!

BusyBee27 · 02/05/2018 12:36

@Pinkrose: how’re you getting on?

@Happytobe: hope the renovations are going smoothly! Our kitchen is being ripped out as we speak and stuff is everywhere, so you have my full sympathy! Confused

NoseringGirl · 02/05/2018 12:53

Sorry for the bfn @BusyBee27!

AF just got me! I'm only 8DPO by my temps and usually have a 10 day LP. I got a positive OPK 4 days before my temp rise though which I thought was odd so wondering if my temp didn't go up straight away for whatever reason.
A bit disappointed but not even properly trying yet. This is the cycle we were planning to start trying so guess we're officially TTC!!

BusyBee27 · 02/05/2018 12:59

Ah no, sorry to hear AF has arrived @NoseringGirl ... I’m not temping (yet!), so can’t really offer any useful comments on the OPKs. But here’s to the next cycle for both of us, in that case!

happytobemrsg · 02/05/2018 13:56

@rollerskaterdata I used liquid pregnacare once I knew I was pregnant, nothing beforehand (because I again kept forgetting to take FA

Fingers crossed @TheOneWithTheBaby!!

Sorry about the BFN @BusyBee27. Our original builders did a really bad job so we have new builders ripping out our garden doors & refitting them today. So the back of my house is completely open. I'm bloody freezing

Sorry AF has arrived @NoseringGirl but at least you are officially ttc now - SO EXCITING!

Just catching up on all the posts- it's been a manic few days at work!

@BusyBee27 I was meant to ovulate yesterday but not sure it happened!
I have been taking the seven seas trying for a baby ones for 15--16 Months now and when I had bloods done in January they said they could tell- not sure how?! I have also been taking multi vitamins and was the only one in my office of 30 to not get the flu cold this winter so think there all a bit suspicious!
Just hanging on now to see the hospital again in June but feel a bit hopeless in the meantime- DH has come to the realisation that we will be looking into 2019 now before any little ones arrive so he's a bit down too :/

Will catch up with everyone's news this evening :)

rollerskaterdata · 02/05/2018 18:34

Thanks for all the recommendations, I think I'm leaning towards the SS prenatal vits now as I don't like all this corroborating evidence that prenatal Pregnacare could mess up my cycles!

@Noseringgirl, FlapJackered and BusyBee27, it's so exciting that you're all now trying! GL and fx for all of you, hoping you get your BFP's soon!

@TheOne, how did your DH's zika test go today? Do you get the results straight away or do you have to wait a little while?

@Pinkroseuk, if you don't mind me asking what's the hospital visit for? (or you can completely ignore me being a nosy cow! Blush). No matter what it is I hope you get the outcome you want, fx

Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 18:57

@rollerskaterdata i have PCOS and had no periods since coming off the pill 16 months ago- I was referred at Christmas and put into provera which has worked( but only have another months worth of pills) but not sure I'm ovulating yet so have another follow up appointment in June- there's just so long between appointments it's seems to be taking forever (I'm very impatient too!)
Luckily we moved house last year and I changed doctorS as my previous doctor wouldn't refer me to hospital for at least two years after I can off the pill which would have been waiting a while!

Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 19:00

Any other suggestions of anything I can try in the meantime would be greatly appreciated!! :)
So excited for everyone else who is starting to ttc now too :)

TheOneWithTheBaby · 02/05/2018 20:05

So sorry for everyone whose period has come. That time of the months sucks as it is, so during TTC it's just doubley bad.

Thanks for the crossed fingers. DH won't know for another week or so so not much we can do till then. The official guideline for women is to wait 8 weeks as well. So we're playing the waiting game.

rollerskaterdata · 02/05/2018 20:34

@Pinkroseuk, I'm glad to hear your new doctor is more proactive and that your next appointment is next month, it'll be here before you know it!

@TheOne and @MrsG, are we the only ones still waiting?

Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 21:01

Thanks @rollerskaterdata yes it is the 28th June but is next month now which I hadn't realised !
It is lovely to have all of you to talk to though- none of my friends have been through this or are trying atm so I feel a little like the odd one out!

happytobemrsg · 02/05/2018 21:32

@rollerskaterdata yep I think so! Though I started this thread so it wouldn't be fair to duck out just yet Wink. I've been watching One Born Every Minute- it's been bringing it all back to me! Make me super broody rather than putting me off which is a good sign

OP posts:
happytobemrsg · 02/05/2018 21:34

I'm glad you're getting help with your pcos @Pinkroseuk it's so hard when you're asking for help & the dr doesn't listen

OP posts:
Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 21:39

Thanks @happytobemrsg. I was diagnosed at 11 so when I came off the pill I explained then as asked to go straight back onto my old medication (metformin) but they were having none of it! A year later they decided it would be best to go back on - but moving in the right direction now so that's all that matters :)

TheOneWithTheBaby · 02/05/2018 21:53

Yes i think so Pink!

I also have PCOS it seems. I had an internal scan in which they saw the follicles and myitregular periods are another sign. The GP was quite happy to help with this which is nice. No medication yet but a gyno referral to discuss TTC and an action plan. I thought she was amazing and took me so serious.

Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 22:01

Sorry to hear about you having PCOS @TheOneWithTheBaby but good that your doctor is so proactive.
My gynaecologist wouldn't talk about ttc and was focused on getting me periods back and regular first for a couple of years but hoping at the next appointment I can talk to her about it a bit more :)
An action plan sounds great- I have heard that a combination of provera and Clomid can often worn well.

TheOneWithTheBaby · 02/05/2018 22:24

I've only had my scan a couple of months ago so still very new to this. I don't really know anything about the drugs and need to do some
Research. Well my GP said action plan, don't know what the gyno is going to say. Still not had my hospital letter.

I can't believe you were diagnosed with 11! That's so early. I always had irregular periods but then so did my mum. I do think she might have PCOS actually.

I do worry it could influence TTC times. Do you? My first goal is to eat healthily while waiting.

Pinkroseuk · 02/05/2018 22:43

I still don't know that much but trying to learn-
Yes it was young and have been on medication and the pill ever since but now I've come off it it's a whole new world going on it seems! (Or not!)
Yes I do worry as I'm still not getting regular periods 16 Months after coming off the pill it's already had quite an impact on when we thought we would have our first child.
I'm trying to that too- and shift a bit of weight which gyny have said I need to do as not eligible for IVF atm due to my weight.

Jellybabies123 · 03/05/2018 08:12

Sorry I've missed a few posts been busy studying which has now been completed! Yay! One step closer to being able to ttc. We are cracking on with house renovation planning! And holiday planning.

@theonewiththebaby good luck with your husbands zika test! Fingers crossed for you both!!

Sorry to hear about the negatives for you ladies.
@pinkroseuk glad your getting some help with the pcos, I'm concerned that's what's causing my irregular periods although don't really have any other symptoms other than some slight acne.

@theone and @mrsg @rollerskatadata I'm still waiting too!! Probably another couple of months to go!
