I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

Hi cherry. Oooh that’s exciting. That’s when I’m going to start trying too! Hoping it comes by quickly!

Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 19:59

Thanks @NoseringGirl . I didn't even know that there were two different types thanks! I was thinking of trying these ones -www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B001DULLKE/ref=cmswrcpapii70k7AbV9RPVCH

Welcome @cherryblossom4 :)

Mamabear0717 · 04/05/2018 20:07

Your age/DH age: 26/28
Baby #: This will be #3
When are you TTC: October 2018 due to have implant out soon to give my body time to get back to regular periods so easier to track ovulation.
Why are you waiting: We have our 2 yearly Florida holiday booked for October and now our girls are a bit older I want to be able to go on some of the bigger rides with them and wouldn't be able to if pregnant.
What are you doing to keep busy?: Enjoying my 2 little girls, planning the youngests christening for this Sunday, then both of their birthdays for june/July, my youngest starts nursery this September so we're doing a lot of toddler groups and I'm planning for our holiday.

NoseringGirl · 04/05/2018 20:57

Welcome @cherryblossom4 and @Mamabear0717

@Pinkroseuk that's the one that gets shortened to FRER (First Response Early Result). They're generally very reliable and sensitive. Expensive if you get through a lot though. I'm way to much of a POAS addict and only use a FRER for special occasions 🤣 I really need to get out more!

Pinkroseuk · 04/05/2018 21:36

Thanks @NoseringGirl I will get these! Yes I kind of don't believe if I only do one or two either! I was using the really cheap ones down Tesco but there so much cheaper than others I'm not sure if they work or not either (in sure they do really)!

Welcome @Mamabear0717 :)

BackAwayFatty · 05/05/2018 01:23

Age - I'm 29 & DP 33
Baby #4 (DD8, DSS6, DSS4)
When - April 2019
Why are you waiting - mostly financial. Pay off debt. Need a bigger house/car. DP wants a holiday and to pass his driving test before we TTC. Planning a 30th party & a big holiday June 2020 & don't want to be due on either occasions.

I'm so unbelievably broody! I would love a baby now. So happy to have found my kind of people! Ha

TheOneWithTheBaby · 05/05/2018 08:08

I looked at first response tests. I just can't believe how expensive they are. The best deal for 2 i found was around £7. Had anyone found cheaper deals? That's quite a lot of money if you do a few each month.

mussie · 05/05/2018 08:37

Amazon do a pack of 4 for £14.39. And that's why you can only do one a month and not go mad with them! Wonder how often anyone actually manages to be so restrained Grin

BeeKeeping · 05/05/2018 10:08

I’m ashamed to admit that I am also a poas addict and have recently peed on 2 FRERs despite not actively trying and not having had ups at ov this month 🙈

What will I be like next month when we start ttc 😬 aaaahhhh

rollerskaterdata · 05/05/2018 18:58

@Pinkrose and @MrsG, it is freaking me out a little, we've been saving to buy our first house forever it's seems surreal we could be starting to look in the next month or two! And re. the interest rates, that's the first thing I asked! He said it should be ok based on the size of our deposit, also I'm with Which? mortgage advisers so they're probably more honest than others and not in it for the commission (theoretically!) Wink

@Nosering, I've decided I've had enough and I'm getting it taken out next week now. Rather than worrying constantly about whether or not the coil is messing up my periods I'm going to get it out early and see how they are for the next few months. I was going to take it out next month anyway so why not!

On the negative side I still have to wait to TTC until at least August because we've just booked our holiday Envy

rollerskaterdata · 05/05/2018 19:03

Welcome @cherryblossom4 and @Mamabear0717, looks like we're all waiting until the same time! Grin also welcome @BackAwayFatty, I know EXACTLY what you mean about not wanting to be preggers on holiday, feel like I've shot myself in the foot now Envy LOL

NoseringGirl · 05/05/2018 19:48

@BeeKeeping you are my people Grin

@rollerskaterdata makes sense! Hopefully they'll sort themselves out once the coil is out. Are you going to do any ovulation tracking or just wait and see if they become more regular? Exciting about your holiday though! Hopefully the time will fly by!

Welcome @BackAwayFatty!

BackAwayFatty · 05/05/2018 22:24

Thanks guys for the welcome. My DP is happy to talk about babies closer to when we can actually start ttc. I just can't stop going on and on and on. We talk about the pros and cons but I honestly don't care what the cons are. My womb is aching! Ha

Pebblespony · 05/05/2018 22:32

Hi. Just saw this thread. Can I please join in?
Age : 35/39
TTC # 2
Going for it prob in July/August
Waiting as DH works away at the moment. I'd like to drop the last few pounds of baby weight and the timing helps as I have horses and don't want to have them in when I'm very pregnant. We're building a house too but we've decided not to wait for this as it could be a year.
Keeping busy looking after baby 1.

rollerskaterdata · 06/05/2018 11:33

@Nosering, I hadn't thought about ovulation tracking as I've never done it before and wouldn't know where to start! Any recommendations? I briefly did research on Persona and other things like that once and didn't like the sound of it as I wake up during the night to pee religiously every night and would have a problem doing this first urine of the day thing! Confused

On another note, I bought the seven seas conception tablets and took my first one yesterday evening. This was exciting until an hour later I had a bad allergic reaction to them and broke out in full body hives that kept me awake all night. Thankfully a call to 111 who advised benedryl and sudocrem has sorted me out but it was quite scary actually! Now I'm worried about taking any other brand of conception tablets as I don't know if the ingredients are similar in all of them? I know I need to take something though...

rollerskaterdata · 06/05/2018 11:34

@Pebbles, welcome Smile

NoseringGirl · 06/05/2018 12:41

@rollerskaterdata that doesn't sound very pleasant! Do you know what was in them that triggered the reaction? You could just take a folic acid and a vitamin D as that's what's actually needed in pregnancy. It's all I took in my last pregnancy once I got my BFP as I needed a higher dose of folic acid so couldn't take the multivitamin anymore. Midwife (via the GP) prescribed the high folic acid and told me to take vit D with it.
As for the tracking, I'm a big fan of temping. I use an Ava bracelet now but that's quite an investment when you're just starting out. A basic bbt thermometer is only a few quid and you can use the free version of fertility friend to chart the temps. It'll help you figure out if and when you're ovulating and how much that changes month to month. Using OPKs can tell you when your body is gearing up to ovulate but won't tell you if it actually happens.

Pebblespony · 06/05/2018 13:22

Is Vit D important for conception? I've just been diagnosed with very low levels. Have to take a supplement thing one day a week.

mussie · 06/05/2018 15:11

I'm taking the Tesco's own brand multivitamin, so that's another one to try @rollerskaterdata. And I read a thread on the conception board that was like 'I'm TTC, what kit do I need' and the consensus was to not bother with BBTs and OPKs to begin with. If you conceive within a few months, then it's all wasted time and effort, and if it takes longer then there's plenty of time to learn all that stuff then. So personally I don't think I'm going to get techie about it until I've been trying a few months, or the novelty of it all will wear off Grin

Pebblespony · 06/05/2018 16:25

@mussie I think you're right. Last time my DH said that he never thought he'd go off sex but that all the OPKs etc and having to dtd to a schedule were a real passion killer.Grin

cherryblossom4 · 06/05/2018 18:28

@mussie @Pebblespony you're so right! We are thinking of TTC in September but I'll come off the pill in June to try and get regular. I told my DP I ordered a clear blue advanced ovulation kit today. I thought this was the obvious thing to do to assess my cycle. His point was he thought we should try for a few months without that first so it's still fun and I don't become stressed! It's funny how 'going in blind' didn't even occur to me!

Pebblespony · 06/05/2018 18:49

The old fashioned wayGrin

mussie · 07/05/2018 07:13

'Spray and pray' I've heard it called 😅

happytobemrsg · 07/05/2018 09:33

Welcome to all the newbies 👋🏻

@Pebblespony How old is DC1? I'm very jealous of you building your own house, that's our dream!

All this tracking certainly takes the romance out!! I also wouldn't bother with OPKs or BBTs at first. Just track CM if you can.

I'm not far off O this month & we used contraception last night - I thought I'd be more blasé about it but the closer I'm getting to ttc the more I'm getting freaked out 😂

Pebblespony · 07/05/2018 15:01

DD is nine months so there's no massive rush. Although we had a major condom malfunction last night, first time ever. I'd be typical if something happened when we're not ready 😁
