Anyone else waiting to TTC?

I thought we could keep each other company while we wait!

Your age/DH age: 29/39
Baby #: This will be #2
When are you TTC: I think we should start in June when DS is 2 but we are so broody it might be sooner
Why are you waiting: We are doing some house renovations at the moment & sorting out some stuff financially. Everything seems a bit up in the air & I can only stress about a couple of things at a time. I'm looking forward to life settling down only to have a newborn mess it all up again Grin
What are you doing to keep busy?: I'm project managing house renovations & enjoying one-on-one time with DS before he (hopefully) becomes a big brother. DH & I are having a huge joint birthday party in September for my 30th & his 40th so I'm enjoying planning that!

Also, that bridesmaids dress looks beautiful ☺️

Hofty · 08/03/2018 20:57

@mussie
I must get on to breast pumps, only 6 months to ttc after all. DFiancè will not doubt very much enjoy helping me decide Grin

So so so glad I'm not alone!

Pinkroseuk · 08/03/2018 21:05

@Hofty yes I have had problems concentrating on anything today as well! My college at work says I was daydreaming again!! Maybe tomorrow I will be able to concentrate a bit more!
I hadn't thought about researching items yet so this will give me something actually useful to do! Thanks

RandomUsernameHere · 08/03/2018 21:17

Beautiful bridesmaid dress!

happytobemrsg · 08/03/2018 21:22

@Hofty we have our girl name picked out since With didn't get to use it for DS but we cannot agree on a boy name! It's even harder because it has to sound "right" with DS' name as well as be a nice name in itself.

I think I'm ovulating now - EWCM & O pain this evening. This is when I get the most broody!!! It's so tempting..........

@mussie @RandomUsernameHere Thank you! Flowers

@happytobemrsg ooh yes, names must go together nicely. I've already got my sibling sets sorted for any eventuality, DFiancè and I will have nothing left to discuss if/when I'm pregnant Grin

Mammac85 · 08/03/2018 21:34

So glad I'm not the only one struggling at the moment, I had a bad month with remembering to take my pill. When af showed yesterday I was pretty down as was hoping for a lovely little accident.

My DF thinks I'm crazy that iv already picked the pram, Moses basket, car seat etc though I think he should be allowed some input this time on a name as I named both the boys Blush

happytobemrsg · 08/03/2018 21:39

@Hofty that's where we went wrong - we should have agreed on sibling sets!! Would you like to share yours with us? Maybe it'll give me some ideas. I need something with a Hebrew origin.

@Mammac85 nope you're definitely not alone in struggling. It feels like such a wasted month if we don't try. Especially since you never know how long it'll take. If we are still TTC months down the line will I regret not trying sooner? I think DH would be ok to TTC now (tonight!) but for my it's still a battle : head vs heart

Mammac85 · 08/03/2018 21:47

Thank you @happytobemrsg it does make it somewhat easier to know I'm not alone feeling like this. I can't wait to start ttc, I'm off for a scan on Monday to see what's going in with this cyst and see the surgeon in April I'm keeping my fingers crossed he will say I can still ttc with it.

Hofty · 08/03/2018 22:04

Oh go on then!
Wilfred Otto S--
Albert Frank S--
Iris Saffron S--
Joy Elsie S--

All agreed with DF for any eventuality Grin

Hofty · 08/03/2018 22:05

Someone else share now, indulge me Smile

Hofty · 08/03/2018 22:06

@Happytobemrsg

Isaac and Reuben?
One of those is my DFs name Smile

MrsXx4 · 08/03/2018 22:40

Hi ladies, so Since I’ve seen we are taking names I have to share what happened tonight!!! I came home from work and there was a missed parcel slip on our dining table. The slip said a package had been left in the shed. I said to DH ‘have you been to the shed to get this?’ He said ‘yes, there’s nothing there!’ I put my coat back on and went to check.....he is well known for his kind of looking for anything lol! But nope nothing there! I was waiting on a skipping rope btw, I want to spend the next two months getting a bit healthier.

He tells me dinner is nearly ready and to go get changed out of my work clothes. I am ranting on about my skipping rope and saying that someone has been in our shed and nicked my parcel etc. I went to our bedroom and there is a package on my bedside table! I shouted ‘it’s up here!!! How’d you forget you put it up here?!?!’

I opened it and it’s not my skipping rope. It is an absolutely beautiful old school teddy bear all handmade complete with certificates and the bear is called our chosen DD name! It has a proper tag and certificate with the name and I have just died a little!! I mean......!!! I’m speechless!!

DH has outdone himself with this little surprise! It kills me that I can’t tell anyone about this as well! I’ve taken photos and put the date on it so that if we ever do have a DD we can one day show her!

(He possibly would have done this for a DS too but we don’t have any boy names we are set on so it’s harder)

happytobemrsg · 08/03/2018 22:49

@MrsXx4 oh my goodness that is the sweetest story ever! I really hope you get a DD so you can share it with her Bear

@Hofty I love you name list! I can see how they all go together - all very traditional. I'm especially fond of Iris...

I like the name Isaac but really like the nn Zac. Unfortunately we have one in the family already. I really like Ezra by DH isn't keen. He likes Shai (pronounced Shy) & Malachi. I'm not sold on either yet.

@MrsXx4 what a lovely surprise! That is so so sweet. You can take pictures of your newborn DD with her teddy bear ☺️ too cute.

@Hofty @happytobemrsg I love those Old Testament names. I quite like Jacob? Don't know if it's too popular. I also like Benjamin, but I went to school with a boy named Benjamin, and I don't want him to think I named my baby after him 😂 but then, it narrows things down quite a bit if you can't have the name of anyone you've ever met!

MrsXx4 · 08/03/2018 22:55

I know! It’s the most thoughtful and beautiful gift ever!

I love the name Isaac and I love Ezra it’s so different!!

@hofty Albert is such a lovely name and also Joy for a little girl! If I do have a daughter her middle name will be Joyce or rose as they are my grandmothers names x

NoseringGirl · 08/03/2018 23:02

@MrsXx4 that is unbelievably sweet! What a lovely man your DH is!

Hofty · 09/03/2018 06:14

@MrsXx4 how lovely! Flowers

Catseverywhere3 · 09/03/2018 08:04

Hi everyone, can I join? Me and dh are both 25 and planning on starting sometime next month, I stopped taking the pill in January and am using the app Flo to track everything, although I was on the pill for so long I can't actually remember what my old cycle was like (I think I remember it being really short, like period every 3 weeks?) Am currently worrying if my cycle returns that short does that cause any problems? Sounds so silly to be worrying about something we haven't even started yet 😂

NoseringGirl · 09/03/2018 10:56

Hello @Catseverywhere3! If your cycle is that short then it could just mean that you're ovulating really early which isn't a problem as long as you know and are DTD at the right time!
I have a shortish cycle (26-28 days) but don't ovulate until day 16-18. My LP is on the shorter side but still within the limits for conceiving apparently.

luelle · 09/03/2018 11:02

Ok.. I have calmed down.. we are back on track. The wait goes on!

Just a quick Q, I'm trying so hard to start tracking my cycle but I'm so irregular. I come on different times each month, for different amounts of time, sometimes I skip months all together.. how do I track something so all over the place? Never understood that side of things but would like to be on top of it by the time I start TTC?

Also that gift is soooo thoughtful. I've forgotten your username to tag you but wow Thanks

MrsXx4 · 09/03/2018 11:15

@Luelle, my cycle is a bit allover the place to and I have become pretty obsessive over it. I have an app called Glow and I track my period on there. You can track literally all period symptoms as well as update when you DTD etc. You can also take a look over your charts and see if there are any patterns emerging. It gives you an estimate of your fertile window but obviously, the app cant know for sure.

I also keep a diary and update that too (see, obsessive) its just a week to view one, nothing special but I just mark on there when my period is and when it finished etc.

My update for today is....I have started taking my pre-conception pills! I thought you only had to take them for a month before trying so I wasn't going to start taking them until April, but reading this thread and other research makes me think maybe I should have been taking them already, so have started them today!

Yes the gift was so so thoughtful of my DH, I couldn't switch off last night and we did DTD with no contraception but I am only on cycle day 9 so nothing would have happened. I also cant really get pregnant right now because I have a bridesmaid dress I need to fit into in September and if we stick to our plan to start trying in May then I think the dress will be fine as I doubt I'll have any kind of bump!

NoseringGirl · 09/03/2018 11:34

@luelle I've always used an app called fertility friend to track my cycles and charted my BBT on there. My cycles used to be very irregular so apps that just work on dates etc were never accurate for me. Charting my temps meant I had a better idea when and if I'd ovulated. A lot of the time I wasn't ovulating and what I thought were periods was just breakthrough bleeding. I'd never have known that if I hadn't been charting my BBT. You can record all your other fertile signs and various symptoms in there too. I've been using it since 2011 and even continued putting data in when not TTC as I've found it so useful. I put the temps from my Ava bracelet into Fertility Friend now instead of just taking my temp in the morning.
