TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Hahaha! All sounds positive Smile
I was pretty much the same when DH and I got married in August! Thought I was a few years away from wanting to start our family but then it was like something in me just changed!!
I'm about 8/9 days away from AF so still slightly too early to test.
I can't decide whether to test this Sunday (18/2) and then the following Sunday (25/2) if I haven't had the visit by then! I just don't want to get a BFN Sad

How do you know how often to test?

When we do conceive, I need to know when ASAP and quite accurately due to the medical care I'll need during pregnancy, so I was thinking of maybe testing once a month until my cycles are regular? At least that will narrow it down a bit

Testing what AnotherOriginalUsername? Ovulation or pregnancy?
I was trying to be quite restrained but ended up testing with an opk a couple of times a day in my fertile period (they say to do this so you don't miss it) and I started testing from 10 dpo until I got AF... So not very restrained after all!

Pregnancy test. I don't want to get into ovulation testing - I want to refrain from our sex life becoming clinical and scripted!

Yes I don't want that either, and it wasn't. I just told DH "this is a good week" and we DTD lots!

Yes I wouldn't mention anything to DH if we are not lucky this month. It became very regimented for us and ended up in a lot of stress and tears. I think the initial desperation made us want to keep DTD but it definitely takes it's toll.

I think for me I just need to know ASAP (although I don't mind how long it takes) and know relatively accurately when conception occurs.

I have a heart condition and pregnancy will be a risk to my health (potential for death and all that jazz!) so will be being very closely monitored by a specialist in heart failure in pregnancy throughout

By wouldn't mention anything, I mean I wouldn't tell him when I suspected I was ovulating.
All I've used is the Flo App that tracks all of my symptoms, I've been using it to keep on top of AF as I haven't been on any contraception other than condoms for over a year.
So judging by when it says I am due to start my period, I'm working backwards on when I can POAS!

I caved and did a test yesterday but it was negative. I'm meant to come on my period Thursday but I don't think I'm pregnant this month. After coming off the pill I had all these various pregnancy symptoms and then the last 4 days I feel 'normal' so I think I'm out this month

Will do! 😁 I tested yesterday with a urine sample at about 5.30 last night, do you think I should use urine from my first wee in the morning?

Yes - that's when the hormones are at their most concentrated!

Just woke up to a small amount of brown discharge (sorry if TMI). Cue the constant worrying over whether it's implantation bleeding or start of AF! Hmm

For those who are using the Ovia app, do I manually add where I think I've ovulated?

@hcbaggs that's my current dilemma! Brown discharge on Monday, nothing since then. Period was due today according to Glow but as first cycle after implant removal not sure how accurate it is.
Fingers crossed yours is implantation. Think I'm going to take a test in the morning.

If I had EWCM on 12th, watery CM on 13th and thick/creamy CM today, am I right in thinking that ovulation occurred around 13th?

Hi all, can I join please?
(Started a thread "hello (I'm new)...my TTC journey" but didn't realise there was one for people already Smile )

I'm 28, husband is 29.
Just finished cycle 1 of TTC and AF arrived today (rather disappointingly, but still early days in our journey)

Just purchased some ovulation test kits which will be more for me to get to grips with my body and my cycle (rather than making DTD something regimented lol) so will be trying again during cycle 2 in a few days I guess!

xx

Still no AF and another BFN test. Guess my body hasn't settled into a cycle yet then.

@MrsM2017 welcome!

How annoying Kit Kat! I've had a really odd period- very faint spotting Monday night, light/medium bleeding Tuesday and yesterday and it seems to have completely stopped today!
Is this normal? It's the first natural period I've had in a long time and it seems very short... effectively 2 days long?!

@jemimafuddleduck when I had my coil removed, the nurse said that my first period would likely be light and short, as it takes time for the endometrium to build back up between cycles. I'm hoping this is the case as I'd like to be broken back in gently as it's been 10 years since I had a period!

orangekitkat13 · 15/02/2018 09:47

@jemimafuddleduck I think it must be just our bodies settling down still. @AnotherOriginalUsername I did think it was unlikely just to fall straight back to normal after so long! But I was hoping!

Well I've just eaten a huge bar of chocolate for breakfast and skipped the gym. Am I pregnant? Am I hormonal? Who knows!!
