TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

I would assume it can take a little while to get back to normal after contraception. I was told by the nurse who removed my coil that in theory I could get pregnant before my first period but that it was theoretically possible but very unlikely

@flyingplum I definitely had "copious" amounts of EWCM - it just kept coming!!

My friend and I had a slightly tipsy conversation about it just before Xmas. She's not TTC, but was trying to explain it to her boyf...men, i've discovered, know so little about how women's bodies work (which isn't surprising I suppose since, given the ubiquity of hormonal birth control, many of us often aren't that in tune with how our bodies change throughout the month until we TTC). Anyway, friend's boyf was so fascinated by it all/didn't quite understand or believe her, that she ended up sending him a photo as evidence. He was simultaneously grossed out and fascinated!!!

@flyingplum I work in women's health and it is truly amazing how little the men know when they come and see me with their partners!
@AnotherOriginalUsername I was told the same after my coil was removed...still doesn't stop you hoping though! I am now on CD29 with BFN this morning and no AF. I am planning on using OPK next month just to check whether I am ovulating or not. I've got cheap ones and expensive ones!

@quokka84 we can hope!

I've eaten more carbs in the last 36 hours than I did in the entire week before the London marathon last year and I'm so thirsty. I'm either pregnant or I've given myself diabetes Cake

@AnotherOriginalUsername fingers crossed it's the first one!
I'm 25 days post implant removal, still no AF and no signs of its arrival. Had a BFN yesterday morning.
I think I'm going to try OPKs next month just to work out my cycle ( if I ever get one that is!) I don't think inoculated this month, no sign of EWCM.
I'm not wishing AF would just show up so I can get my head round a cycle. Lost hope that I'll get a BFP this month.

I've still got my fingers crossed for you all! I'm cd7 at the moment so might start with OPKs at the weekend just to check I'm ovulating.
I did have a crazy moment yesterday though - took a preg test even though I'd already had my period Blush It was only 2 days long so wanted to be doubly sure it was actually a period!
It was BFN, obviously...!

Did a blood glucose at work, I'm not diabetic - just tired and thirsty!

Brother in law and his girlfriend had their 12 weeks scan today and all is well. Another niece or nephew to add to the collection - my husband's siblings only have to look at the opposite sex to make a baby!

Is there a particular time of day you check you CM if you do? Does it make a difference when you do? Do you check more than once?

Hi girlies is there room for one more. I'm 27 TTC #1 cycle #1 cd2. Only stopped the mini pill on 16/2 but starting spotting that afternoon and am having a proper, but light, withdrawal bleed as of yesterday. Downloaded the ovia app so I'm following that at the minute. I have only just started but already been obsessed for months. I've been taking seven seas conception vits for 2 month, boyfriend has been taking conceive + men's vits and also got the conceive + fertility lubricant so I'm hoping I'm well prepared lol

I've still not O'd and on CD16. No sign of EWCM either. I know there's still time but getting complete negative results on IC and 6th day of flashing smiley on clear blue. Hope t doesn't mean I'm not ovulating this month?

@sammielouise sorry, I'm a bit new to all this, what is 'IC'? So many new acronyms to learn!

It does but at least AF has arrived and concentrate on next month now. This cycle was 36 days so don't know how I'm going to track my ovulation?

I bought some from Poundland you get like 5 in a box. When do you think I should start testing? Straight after my period or wait a little while?

Report
jemimafuddleduck · 21/02/2018 19:30

They say you should test around your fertile period... so maybe begin testing around a week after the last day of your period? I'm no expert though obviously!

Sorry AF got you @Unicorn and @Jemima. I’m cd24, don’t really know if I ovulated but had some cramps for about an hour on cd22, convinced myself if was implantation cramping (don’t know if that’s a thing or I head about it on here, or maybe I just made it up?!)
I’m thinking cos it’s my first cycle maybe it was AF trying to come early. No cramps since and didn’t get any spotting. Can’t believe I’ve turned into a crazy who thinks there’s a chance it’ll happen first go!

This is my first AF coming off the pill too @mipha
I had so many various symptoms since coming off the pill such as cramping, sore nipples, headaches ect but don't let your body fool you, it can be cruel at times 😂
I was '6 days late' this morning and woke up feeling sick so thought I'd test but obviously it was a negative. Funnily enough a couple of hours later AF showed up 😢😯 however sending baby dust to you and fingers crossed 🤞

I know @unicorn234! I am literally sat here convincing myself I feel sick! 😂 I need to calm the duck down with all the symptom spotting. It’s all these new hormones surging round my body after coming off contraception. They’re messing up my mind! Haha.
