TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Hello, am new to the forum (mumsnet in general...excuse me if i'm not down with all the acronyms...find them a bit bewildering!). after sort of hedging around it for a few years, partner and I decided to start trying/stop using contraception at Christmas - got my period almost immediately day after new year's, so that was cycle no. 1. No joy then, though wasn't really expecting it, so now onto cycle no. 2.

Am almost 33, and have both PCOS and endo (certainly cysts, though haven't had a lap, only ultrasound, so not sure of the extent of any other growth), which really affect my cycles (sometimes as long as 80 days), but they've been quite regular recently (which was part of the impetus for trying) so fingers crossed we might get lucky. We're sort of just seeing how it goes. I've not been on hormonal contraception for years, so we just stopped using condoms and are going to see what happens for a few months...

Hi! Can I join? I’m a long time lurker, this is my first post.
My DH and I started ttc #1 last summer. However, my wonderful dad died very suddenly in October so we’ve been having a break.
Started really trying again in January (using Ovia and tracking CM). My period is currently 2 days late (unusual for me)! I’m too scared to take a test!😬. I’ve told myself I’ll wait till Monday - don’t know why though! Think I’m scared of a BFN!
X

Ok so I'm at least 10 dpo and reared this morning - BFN. No symptoms either apart from bloating (which could just be AF symptoms or I've eaten too much). I'm out aren't I? Cycle 1 was always unlikely to happen!

I took a test yesterday too jemimafuddleduck and mine was also negative but my ovia app says not to test until another 4 days so not sure if I might of tested too early? I have been having some symptoms, last couple of days my nipples have been tender, had cramps, headaches but not sure if it's symptoms from coming off the pill or if my body is preparing for AF? confused.com lol

Good luck Unicorn! Let me know how you get on. Mine was a very definite BFN so I'll be surprised if that changes!

Changed my name from cjones
I caved too today, 3 days till AF is due and also negative. Wanted to wait but my DH wanted me to do one. I've been symptom stopping like anything! Back pain, tiredness, nose bleeds, head aches and indigestion, so was thinking might just be positive, a little disappointed. Will try agin in a few days maybe. Fingers crossed it might still happen for some of us ladies on the first cycle!

orangekitkat13 · 11/02/2018 22:55

@Unicorn234 I would test again in a few days, that's what I'm going to do.

So...
I took a cheapie test this morning and I thought it was a BFN, so I threw it in the bin (waited over 5 minutes). Something made me check back just now and I see a line (pic attached).
I immediately took another test (bottom test) but it's BFN.
Is the top one likely to be an evap?
Any advice gratefully received...!

Hi ladies,

Have been meaning to join you here for the last week, but have been trying not to think about TTC too much as my AF due day started looming.

I’m 31, and I’m TTC #1, cycle 1. I’m on cycle day 33, and haven’t come on as expected. Bought my first ever FRER this morning & it was blindingly negative. A little sad, but more anxious about where AF is...I know I only came off the pill in Oct, but other than my first period after that I’ve never had a cycle longer than 30 days Sad I’m obviously out, so I’d rather just have that confirmed, so I know where I’m at. X

@jemimafuddleduck how exciting! Fx for you!
I'm feeling so weird today, lots of nausea and weird stomach pains last night. Impossible to be anything pregnancy related as only had the implant removed on 2/2/18 but still really strange. Amazing how your body can play tricks on you as soon as you're TTC!!

I've checked my 2nd test from earlier and no evap line (no line at all). So will see you what tomorrow morning brings!

Hi!

Am I too late to join the party? I am new to MN, 33 and just started TTC 1! I had my Mirena taken out on 16th Jan and now on CD 25. I did a few OPK around my likely ovulation but they all came back negative. I know this is normal after having the Mirena taken out and it can take a few months for ovulation to start again (if it stopped), however I didn't anticipate feeling this impatient about it all! Anyone else like this?! I've just downloaded Ovia which I am hoping will help me track things as I've never bothered before. Best wishes!

That’s pants @jemimafuddleduck. Chances are AF will get me too at the end of the month. So easy to get hopeful. I’m also like you @quokka in that I’m feeling impatient and it’s only cycle 1!
I’m not tracking ovulation or anything. I’m on cd16 and dtd on 8, 10, 12 and 14. Gonna try and carry on dtd every 2-3 days as my cycles might be all over the place. Also know what you mean @sammielouise, I’m hyper aware of every tiny twinge and possible symptom, this whole ttc thing is gonna be a nightmare. Good luck everyone else!
Not sure how to tag so this might not work!

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear AF has visited Sad
My husband and I have just started TTC #1. I think I’m doing what I promised myself I wouldn’t do and confusing any little symptom with being pregnant! Currently in the dreaded wait before I can take a POAS! Fingers crossed for everyone on here, looking forward to hearing hopefully some good news Grin xx

Will definitely keep updating. Just starting 2ww I think. Thanks for starting the thread @jemimafuddleduck, it’s nice to hear from people in the exact same position just starting out ttc #1.

It's hard not to become obsessed isn't it! Yesterday was a bit of a rollercoaster - one minute I had the evap line and thought I was pregnant, and within an hour or two AF had begun and that was that. I appreciate its only cycle 1 and there are lots of people who have been trying FAR longer, but to have hope and then have it taken away was pretty shit Sad

Room for one more?

I feel totally clueless. I have no idea what all these acronyms mean either!

My husband and I got married in October and I swear signing on the dotted line switched my ovaries on.

I've been on some form of contraception or another since I was 15 years old (combined pill, implant x2 and mirena coil) - I'm now 29, so I haven't ovulated for a loooong time. I've also not had any kind of bleeding for about 10 years so I'm definitely not looking forward to that.

I downloaded the Ovia app mainly because I'm rubbish at remembering what's what and I think I remember my cycles being pretty irregular (although I was a teenager so who knows?!). I have some half decent biological knowledge of what goes on due to my degree yawn

I had my coil removed on 5/2 and have just been noting what's been going on on the app (mood swings ahoy!). I had some brief LHS pelvic pain and then 48 hours or so later has definitely egg white cervical mucus (there was no mistaking that! Definitely not had anything like that in the last 15 years) so I'm wondering if I've actually ovulated already Shock

Naturally I jumped my husband last night...

Yes of course, all are welcome!

One thing that I'm quite pleased about was that after coming off the pill for the first time in 16 years I had a 28 day cycle and am pretty sure I ovulated. So all seems normal there.

Hope it's the same for you and good luck!
