TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

@WaitingForThatBFP Yeah I'm hoping to get my letter in a couple of weeks, fingers crossed I can get in for my scan as quick as you!

The confusing thing is, I seem to have ovulated?! I had a peak solid smiley on my opk and have been tracking my bbt... has a temp drop and then two high temps yesterday and today immediately following the drop.

I don't know what all this means, whether high fsh means I wouldn't ovulate, or the egg quality is bad when I do ovulate?! God knows...

Anyway, this has become the jemima show a little bit... How's everyone else getting on?!

I'm still waiting for AF. Havent had anything close to a BFP since the slight line I convinced myself I saw. Don't even know if I ovulated since I have PCOS and apparently that can throw off OPKs.

Hello, could I join please? We’re ttc #1, I had the implant out 13th April & had a withdrawal bleed / possible period on the 16th for a few days. Ovia reckons I’ve just had my fertile window, but after being on contraception for yonks I have no idea what to expect from my cycle! Guess I’ll just see what happens ....and do lots of shagging!

@puravida31 welcome! Similar boat. I stopped my bc end of march,I was only on the pill for 2 months in an attempt to sort some PCOS problems but it made it worse. Seems okay atm but we will see! Apps reckon I'm 16 dpo but who knows!

Ordered some FRER through amazon prime that should come tomorrow (feel like I'm tempting fate for a BFN)

If I count from the first set of flashing smileys i am 18 DPO

If I count from the ovulation date that the Clue app suggests then I'm 11DPO

I'm past the window for a 28DC this month with 3 days till AF would be due for a 35DC (this is what Clue predicts for me)

My husband is turning into a right softy and said this morning "if you get these tests tomorrow and it's positive then it'll be 2 years exactly since I proposed - I might start believing in your "fate" thing" 😂❤️

I think I'll wait to see how long it takes for me to get a letter though from the docs and for my progesterone results to come back and then go from there. If it's a long wait for nhs I may pay to go private for the initial scan.

I seem to have ovulated now as have had a temp increase 3 days in a row so am currently 3dpo.

Ah well! Looks like I maybe jinxed us buying the tests! Looks like the cramps and spotting of the beginning of AF are starting!

Onto the next cycle I guess! At least I've had a decently normal 32 day cycle after the crazy 118 day nonsense!

Does anyone else feel like the biggest muppet ever with symptom spotting once AF creeps around the corner? 🙈👎🏻

@sailorcherrie yep! Although AF still isnt here but I think my cycles just confused cause of coming off the pill

@sailorcherrie yep! I’ve been convincing myself for 3 days that AFwas IB 😭 I was so sure this time with all the unusual symptoms I have 😫

I've recently started the June one since AF has arrived if anyone is interested.

@sailorcherrie i joined the march and April buses but always ended up so behind on posts so didn’t join the May one.. may pop into the June one even tho I have no hope of a BFP.. 😩

@sailorcherrie sorry AF arrived but like you said, it's good that your cycle wasn't crazy long! @jemimafuddleduck I hope you aren't waiting too long for your scan. Has your GP referred you to the fertility clinic already or do you have to wait for the scan result?
I think I'm out for this cycle before it's even begun...realised this morning that my partner is away for a conference during my entire fertile week. I even looked at the cost of flying to the conference for a couple of days but it's waaaay to expensive!

@sailorcherrie Sucks to hear about your AF. I don't go on the Bus threads because I find them too hard to follow! And also I don't have any chance of having a BFP in June, or anytime soon for that matter 😩
You can have 1000 posts on a thread so I'll probably make a new ttc one when we get there.

@howiseverynametaken GP wants to wait for the results of my scan and progesterone test before referring me to the clinic, apparently that's the way it needs to be done?! Although if the scan is a long wait I may ask her if I can be referred anyway.
How annoying it's an enforced month off! I hate that 😕 How many months is it for you now?

@jemimafuddleduck I was referred for a pelvic scan a few years and as there was a long NHS list, they were outsourcing to private clinics. I only waited a few weeks because of this so fingers crossed you get a date soon. My mirena came out in Jan and so technically the cycle I've just started is number 5. However I'm not really going to count the first one as I don't think I ovulated. So this cycle will be number 4...although I think it's fruitless with DP being away, still going to DTD heaps before he goes and when he gets back! He will think all of his birthdays have come at once!

So I've been doing some reading about how to increase fertility. I think a lot of the ideas/supplements are a bit of a fad (basically most things outside of healthy diet and exercise!) but that isn't stopping me wanting to try things! I think I'm going to look at adding a spoon of Maca powder on to my breakfast every day. Is anyone on here doing anything extra that is supposed to boost fertility?

@howiseverynametaken we've just been taking the his and hers conception vitamins/supplements.

Trying, but failing, to lose some weight as well in a hope that it boosts things. I know that if we are to need any fertility help in the future then they want your BMI

Does this OPK look like it's getting close to being positive the test line is only slightly lighter than the control line.

@jemimafuddleduck good luck with the scan, bummer having a month off but the fact you ovulated must be good like you say.
@sailorcherrie I had this last month, reading into sore boobs, they stopped being sore 2 days before af though, so I knew at that point. Boobs super sore this month too so must just be a thing I get now. Maybe first 2 cycles my hormones were still sorting themselves out as I didn’t get any pre af symptoms apart from cramps about 12 hours before.
Af due Monday.
I’ve tried keeping up with a bus thread but I’m rubbish. I only come on here every few days really and then it only tends to be during 2ww. Plus I do like this thread being TTC#1

I had my blood taken for progesterone this morning and will get the results by the end of the week so fingers crossed that's all ok. Waiting for a letter from the docs at the moment to refer me for a scan. It's can't come quick enough!

I'm currently 7dpo (if I ovulated - temps look like I have) so could test at the weekend. Usually I've already tested by now (and it's been BFN obviously). I think I will test but will probably wait until Saturday. I know it'll be negative though 😢

@jemimafuddleduck haha, I’m half asleep, did wonder why having having a scan and blood tests would mean a month off! Think I’m 9dpo but really gonna try and just wait for af this month, if only to save money.
@howiseverynametaken it totally sucks, my second cycle was the same due to him being away with work, was a boring month!

Currently on CD14. Awaiting some sign of ovulation. Praying that this cycle isn't as long as the last!

Trying to keep myself occupied. Went hill walking the past two weekends and have now started running. I hate it but I'm chubby and need something to keep my mind off TTC...it's not really working but at least I feel a bit better 🙈.

@jemimafuddleduck you never know! This could be the month 🤞🏼. Hold out till the weekend. Rooting for you
