TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

@sailorcherrie Trying not to get my hopes up too much!

I've used CB this month for the first time. I got two flashing smileys then a solid - but I ovulate quote early (got my flashing smiley CD9!)

Went to Superdrug and bought a twin pack of their own brand tests. Frers were too expensive.
Get home and the box is empty! 🙈

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 18:31

@Mipha Noooooo!!! How annoying!

Mipha · 16/04/2018 18:35

@Jemimafuddleduck I know! Some tramp obviously nicked them and left the empty box for me. Got my receipt so I’ll go back tomorrow and try and get a replacement box / refund if af shows before then!

orangekitkat13 · 16/04/2018 18:49

@AnotherOriginalUsername sorry to hear things aren't going as smoothly as they should, hope it all turns out ok, must be very worrying not knowing.

@Mipha that's really anoying!

@sailorcherrie I used CB for the first time this month, had one day of not fertile, 8 days of high then peak. Keep at it, gets a bit frustrating but worth it as based on the Glow app I was due to ovulate 2days before I did!

I'm 7dpo and bored of waiting!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 16/04/2018 18:53

@sailorcherrie thank you - I phoned my local EPU today and I (fortunately) don't meet their criteria for a referral so will be booking a private scan tonight. We're going to book for Sunday 29th so I'll be 8 1/2 weeks then, and it's just before my first midwife appointment the following Tuesday.

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 19:13

@AnotherOriginalUsername Really hope everything is ok at your scan. You must be so anxious. Please keep us updated!

@orangekitkat13 yeah I'm 7dpo too, it's rubbish isn't it! I'm not going to test tomorrow, then I'm away tomorrow night, so the earliest I'll be able to test is Thursday which is 10dpo. I might have cracked by then 🙈

@jemimafuddleduck I'm going to hold out till at least Friday morning I think.

WaitingForThatBFP · 16/04/2018 19:37

@AnitherOriginalUsername Hoping everything is ok with your scan ♥️♥️

emdoc · 16/04/2018 20:31

@AnotherOriginalUsername that sounds stressful! Hope everything is just fine ❤️

CD18 for me here, no idea when or if I ovulated so just hanging around waiting basically! Had a busy weekend with friends and had to practice my fake drinking skills to minimize intake haha.. good way to pass time though!

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 21:21

@orangekitkat13 yeah that sounds like a good plan. I've been talking myself out testing tomorrow. I'll only be 8dpo, it'd be pointless!! Told DH about the cramping and he asked when I would find out, he thinks I should wait til the weekend....
@emdoc do you know how long your cycles are?

orangekitkat13 · 16/04/2018 21:26

@jemimafuddleduck sounds sensible, at least your DH is being helpful. I have painful boobs and back, if I moan to my DH he says 'you might be pregnant' that's not helping!

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 21:31

@orangekitkat13 mine just said "you're probably constipated" so not sure how helpful that is 😂😂😂

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 21:31

Painful boobs is sounding good though!

@jemimafuddleduck no I really don’t know! I had a Mireya for about 4 years and didn’t really have periods at all, and was on Nuvaring or the pill before that so it’s been a long time! I have a vague memory of them being about 25-26 days but could be wrong. I also never had any positive OPK (think maybe I was doing it wrong) and never saw any EWCM. I did see my CM change from watery to more sticky around CD14 so that could be it? Who knows!

LOL at your husband’s explanation of your cramping!!

orangekitkat13 · 16/04/2018 21:57

@jemimafuddleduck haha!!!! Ok fair enough, not that helpful then!!

sailorcherrie · 17/04/2018 07:04

Well... that'll be a new clear blue kit from Tesco tonight...

Deliberately held a widdle in from 4.30am so that it was the "longest sleep" wee for the OPK and clear being that bursting did not mixed well with POAS - the wee book of doom "this holder can not be used again" has appeared!

Frustrating! I hope this doesn't throw everything out of whack starting again on a new tester (nevermind the bloody price!)

Little cup of pee for dipping from here on in - oh the glamour of TTC haha!! If it wasn't hard enough doing temperatures and fighting with those tests when you're half asleep!

howiseverynametaken · 17/04/2018 07:47

Hi all, have been reading over the past few weeks but have had my parents visiting DP and I so most of my time has been taken up acting as a tour guide...their first visit to our new city!

Hello to everyone who has recently joined! @Leonora94 good luck with your BD! @jemimafuddleduck how are you managing not testing until Friday? @AnotherOriginalUsername I hope all is well at your scan. Can't believe EPU didn't offer you a scan though. @NotMaryWhitehouse how have you been going with the folic acid? If you are still getting nausea, try taking them just before you go to bed. @sailorcherrie I have used the CB OPK for the last 2 months. In month 1 I got 5 flashing smilies then my solid one, in month 2 I got 4 flashing before my solid. Can't believe you have to buy a new one, must have been heartbreaking to see that come up!

I am now 4DPO and even with visitors we managed to DTD 4 times (albeit silently!) so I keeping everything crossed! I have a few days off work coming up and it's going to be soooo hard not to be POAS every day!

orangekitkat13 · 17/04/2018 09:00

@sailorcherrie I use s cup, so much easier, none of this trying to aim rubbish!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 17/04/2018 14:41

@howiseverynametaken much better, thank you!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 17/04/2018 14:42

@orangekitkat13 @sailorcherrie me too- the trick is not to leave said cup hanging around and bung it straight in the dishwasher so it doesn't get used for anything else! 😂

orangekitkat13 · 17/04/2018 15:04

@NotMaryWhitehouse haha!! Oops yeah that would be pretty bad! I have a plastic cup that I keep hidden in the bathroom!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 17/04/2018 15:07

@orangekitkat13 what are we like?! 🤪

AnotherOriginalUsername · 17/04/2018 17:08

@howiseverynametaken I don't meet their criteria which I can understand and am grateful for. I'm going to be a big enough drain on the NHS throughout this pregnancy as it is!

@sailorcherrie do you mind me asking at what stage the sex is visible by u/s? We really don't want to know but I can interpret ultrasound and studied a fair amount of time (12 long, tedious months!) studying embryology at uni, so I can know that if I see the right (wrong!) view, I'll be able to tell. I'm also going to be having scans every 4 weeks from 12 weeks onwards so there'll be plenty of chance for me to accidentally find out Confused
