TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Welcome @Leonora94

AF is due in 10 days and today I've been feeling sick, had back pain and soar boob so of course I'm getting my hopes up!

orangekitkat13 · 13/04/2018 19:07

@NotMaryWhitehouse are you taking them with a meal?

NotMaryWhitehouse · 13/04/2018 19:17

@orangekitkat13 yeah, at breakfast with evening primrose. OH has brought me just folic acid to try and see if that helps

orangekitkat13 · 13/04/2018 19:48

Hmm, probably worth a change then shouldn't make you feel sick if you're taking it with food. Nurse told me the now recommend you take vitamin D as well just incase you want to take that too.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 13/04/2018 20:13

Yeah, I read that- hoping I can get some vitamin d next week! 😎🌞

jemimafuddleduck · 13/04/2018 20:15

@orangekitkat13 4dpo here but no symptoms yet! When are you going to test?

OP posts:
orangekitkat13 · 13/04/2018 22:49

@jemimafuddleduck you're a bad influence! I was going to just wait and see if AF arrived but now I'm thinking I might try and hold off till Sat! What about you?

jemimafuddleduck · 13/04/2018 22:54

@orangekitkat13 well I'm 11dpo next Friday and due AF Saturday so I'd like to try and wait until Friday at least... but I did order 15 cheap tests from amazon which arrived yesterday so I could end up testing earlier 🙈

Also I said I had no symptoms but I've been having cramps this evening 🤷‍♀️

orangekitkat13 · 13/04/2018 23:12

Haha, yep it's just too tempting isn't it!
I meant next sat sorry not tomorrow!

Mipha · 14/04/2018 09:19

11 dpo and have the usual acne breakout. Have had sore boobs since 5dpo which is new for me but I know a classic pre-AF symptom. Also been feeling, not crampy but as though af may be on the way! In fact it feels as though it may come early. Really hope not as I want my cycles to be regular at least.
Telling myself that having an EDD of xmas day would be crap anyway and May would be a better month to conceive!
I’ve not experienced nausea on my vitamins, think they’re 7 seas too, the ‘trying for a baby’ ones in the little purple packet.

orangekitkat13 · 14/04/2018 09:50

@Mipha I'm trying to tell myself that same as my due date would be Boxing Day, but it's not really working!

SunshineSparklesSmiles · 14/04/2018 23:09

Hi folks, hope you're all well. I've had awfully sore breasts this evening and a shooting pain running inwards from under my arm, have any of you experienced this? I'm 6dpo and not really sure what this is as I understand you can get this with PMS too which I don't think I've experienced before.

Leonora94 · 15/04/2018 12:54

I’ve never had shooting pains before Hmm I get how hard it is not to test, even when I know they’re going to be neg I end up doing it any way! I jut bought folic acid and vit D tablets from boots (combined) so far so good Smile

AnotherOriginalUsername · 15/04/2018 15:59

Still lurking despite being upduffed (watching for your POAS results essentially!) @Leonora94 have you already started taking folic acid? If not, start now, don't wait until pregnant. It's recommended to start taking it at least 3 months before TTC :)

WaitingForThatBFP · 15/04/2018 16:18

Hi @AnotherOriginalUsername how are things with you? Hope the pregnancy is going well x

AnotherOriginalUsername · 15/04/2018 16:36

Things had been going well until Thursday @WaitingForThatBFP. Had some bleeding, went to GP and saw a nurse who basically confirmed my thinking that it was probably all over but said she'd get some advice from the early pregnancy unit. They phoned and I spoke to them in great gory detail and they said that it all sounded like perfectly normal early pregnancy, so who knows?!
I've been fine since but not knowing is doing my head in so will speak to myGP tomorrow and either get referred for a scan, or pay to go private. I need to know before all my appointments start - midwife appointment is 1st May then I have various cardiologist and obstetrician appointments booked after that. I'm still symptomless apart from some killer heart burn which I've never had in my life which started yesterday out of nowhere, so fingers are tentatively crossed.

Englishpetal89 · 15/04/2018 16:40

@Mipha I keep telling myself that too, plus my DH is a stage tech so didn't really want it during panto season...
The things we say to console ourselves lol

Leonora94 · 15/04/2018 19:30

@AnotherOriginalUsername Congratualtions! Flowers yes I’m taking them now going fine Smile

@saliorcherrie A sonographer that must incredible, good luck with everything you seem to have everything well organised! I’m using a tracking app at the moment I’m trying (and failing epically) to hold off with ovulation tests at the moment because my obessesion with peeing on sticks is already hard to control lol

Mipha · 15/04/2018 22:26

Welcome @sailercherrie, hopefully it’ll be a role reversal for you soon!
@anotheroriginalusername hope all is ok and I’m sure the EPU know better than the nurse at the GPs.
I’m sure yesterday I had, not exactly cramps, but the feeling that my womb was gearing up for AF if you know what I mean. Think it’s due Wednesday. Don’t know if it’s better to test and just know it’s coming. I know a lot of people think seeing a bfn is worse than seeing AF arrive.

jemimafuddleduck · 16/04/2018 07:52

Welcome to the new joiners! Nice to have you with us.

I'm 7dpo today and have had quite a lot of cramps since ovulation. Don't have any other symptoms that the amount of cramps is quite unusual for me. Trying not to get my hopes up as this easily could just be my mind playing tricks!
Think I will test on Friday when I will be 11dpo

How are you all getting on?

Leonora94 · 16/04/2018 08:30

Im in the mist of my furtile week at the moment so doing the BD! Hold out to test if you can (impossible sometimes) sounds pretty positive though Smile
