TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

@Rmad6716 How confusing! It all sounds very positive...
I've ovulated on VD12 the last two cycles if that helps?!
I'm probably a bad person to ask as I can't restrain myself from testing early even if I know it's unlikely to be positive... but if it was me I'd probably rest at the weekend!

Just dared to POAS one day early...BFN and AF arrived in the same trip to the loo 😣 That will teach me to test a day early. FFS!

Rach0110 · 22/03/2018 11:20

Sorry to hear that @howiseverynametaken , fingers crossed this next cycle is the one for you

jemimafuddleduck · 22/03/2018 12:14

@howiseverynametaken How annoying, I hate it when that happens! Sad

NotMaryWhitehouse · 22/03/2018 17:29

@howiseverynametaken oh that sucks, sorry it's not this month for you

AnotherOriginalUsername · 22/03/2018 17:50

Argh I can't stop eating which is not conducive to getting to a good baby making weight!

orangekitkat13 · 22/03/2018 20:02

Anyone else obsessively symptom spotting again.......? Feeling sick, acid reflux, peeing all the time! Going to test Saturday morning, AF due Sunday. How's everyone getting on?

orangekitkat13 · 22/03/2018 20:03

@AnotherOriginalUsername me too!

jemimafuddleduck · 22/03/2018 21:18

@orangekitkat13 @AnotherOriginalUsername good luck ladies! Please let us know how you get on!
I have been EXHAUSTED today (currently 4dpo) but to be honest I have had a busy week and not much sleep, so is probably that. I keep thinking to myself "are my boobs sore?!" And then thinking, if they were sore I wouldn't be asking myself that question, I'd just know it! If that makes sense?!
I have had minor cramping but that's about it.
My last cycle was 22 days long and I ovulated on d12 this time around. So I'm not really sure when to test. 10dpo is the day my period could be due if it's another 22 day cycle, so maybe then?! I may give u. And do it earlier though...

orangekitkat13 · 22/03/2018 21:23

@jemimafuddleduck I'm exactly the same, I keep squeezing my boobs! 😂

jemimafuddleduck · 22/03/2018 21:29

orangekitkat13 · 22/03/2018 21:31

@jemimafuddleduck I think we're all a bit crazy here! 🤪 TTC does that to you! It's only been 3 months what are we going to be like if it takes a year! I hope we all get BFPs soon.

jemimafuddleduck · 22/03/2018 21:39

@orangekitkat13 oh god, I have no idea how people keep going for years!

I stupidly and crazily POAS last night and this morning! Only because I have no idea what my cycle is doingConfused. Queue crazy emotional wreck all day today. Of course It's probably way too early and probs not my month but if I go by my actual apps going purely on last period then today is last fertile-ish day so the deed has been done. All I can do it wait and see lol. Feeling a bit better tonight Grin. This makes you so crazy! I swear as soon as I got into work today I went to the toilet and there was a pregnant girl then at lunch only two of us there in queue and the other girl also nice big bump then finally after leaving canteen another one who had just arrived to visit with new baby lol! Amazing how much more you notice when TTC. We will all have our beautiful babies soon I hopeGrinThanks

I really think I'm losing the plot!

Ovia seems to think ovulation is happening RIGHT NOW and I am stuck in the office...... 🤣 cue racing heart and an inability to think about anything else.

Poor Mr NMW, he's going to get jumped the second he gets in tonight.

What AM I doing??? 🙄

NotMaryWhitehouse · 23/03/2018 12:25

@Rmad6716 @orangekitkat13 @jemimafuddleduck I get it, feel your pain 😑

Slou14 · 23/03/2018 17:23

Hi! New to the thread...
TTC #1 Cycle #1

I'm currently 10dpo and have had some symptoms these past couple of days (mild cramps, small amount of brown spotting, sore boobs) but had a BFN with FRER this morning. I'm due AF on Tuesday so thought it would be ok to test with a FRER this morning but it was as negative as can be! I plan on waiting until Tuesday before testing again.

First month and I'm already going mad with the wait...! H.E.L.P 🙂🙃

jemimafuddleduck · 24/03/2018 12:28

@NotMaryWhitehouse That's a nightmare when that happens! Hope you managed to DRD 😁
@Slou14 Welcome to the thread! The symptoms all sound positive but shame about the BFN. You're not out til you're out though! Keep us updated!

I'm currently 6dpo and am getting very impatient. Not really had any symptoms apart from tiredness, although as I said below that may just be down to a heavy week work-wise.

Something really odd happened to me yesterday though and I'm not sure what to think of it...

I ended up having impromptu drinks with work and drank a fair amount of prosecco. I had a mild but consistent headache the whole way through, which is unusual for me.

I went to bed really early, about 9.30 and fell asleep. About 11.30 I woke up as was desperate for a drink so went downstairs to the kitchen. As I was stood at the sink I became really dizzy, I had to hold onto the sink for ages then somehow I ended up on the floor and couldn’t move?! And then managed to get myself back upstairs but was struggling to breathe and sweating. My husband managed to calm me down and it went away! And now I feel fine?!

I was drunk, but I've NEVER experienced anything like this before.

Any suggestions??

AnotherOriginalUsername · 24/03/2018 13:12

Sounds like a faint and a panic attack.

Cause of the faint? As a one off, my money would be a combination of dehydration (through the alcohol) causing slightly low blood pressure plus postural hypotension - BP dropped when you got up and then remained standing at the sink.

I'd not worry unless it happens again.

I'd also probably not drink to the point of getting drunk when you're in your 2WW and have the potential to be pregnant?

jemimafuddleduck · 24/03/2018 13:29

@AnotherOriginalUsername Yes your explanation sounds good - that could well be what happened.

And re not drinking, you're absolutely right. I don't know what came over me. I'm not usually a drinker and I think it definitely hit me more than I had realised. I never drink at home and rarely go out drinking so it's definitely not a regular occurrence.

Having said that, I'm kind of taking the approach that it could take months, if not years, to get pregnant and I'm not going to spend 2 weeks out of every month completely restricting myself! I'm also an early tester, so as soon as I find out that I am pregnant I will be extremely careful.

But yesterday was stupid, and it scared me enough that it won't be happening again. It was just so different to anything I've ever experienced!

OP posts:
Rach0110 · 24/03/2018 13:39

@jemimafuddleduck I agree on the not restricting yourself too much... obviously not ideal to be getting wasted but a ton of my friends who have kids have all said to me (when worrying about having a drink before u even know) that they were accidentally drunk etc in that 2ww before they knew.

Some of my friends who are preg/have kids have also said the restricting yourself loads just adds to the pressure which is not going to help when TTC

Does sound a bit like a faint or panic attack? Hope you're feeling better anyway!

tortellini85 · 24/03/2018 14:57

Hi everyone, I'm a newbie to the thread too (though very long time MN lurker).

TTC #1, cycle #1.

I'm been tracking my periods using the Natural Cycles app for the last few months but my thermometer only arrived on CD13 so I'll need to keep tracking to build up a bigger picture of ovulation dates.

The app told me to OPK test from day 12 but the tests came up negative for the next few days up to CD16. Tested twice a day using the cheapo Poundland ones. Has anyone else had success with these? Based on CM and generally feeling more 'up for it', I think I actually ovulated around CD10, so will OPK test earlier next cycle.

Anyway, we could have potentially DTD at the right times, so I'll waiting and see if AF arrives in over a weeks time.

Good luck to everyone else!

NotMaryWhitehouse · 24/03/2018 15:23

@jemimafuddleduck I remember being out with a very dear friend of mine years ago now and she was moaning to us all about how she was convinced her and her DH were cursed and would never get pregnant....we all sank a LOT of wine, ate rare steaks, massive cheeseboard...... you can see where this is going: she was at the time of ranting, already preggers. Daughter is a gorgeous healthy child! You have to keep enjoying yourself (to a point) til you know I think.

Unicorn234 · 25/03/2018 17:23

Omg today I've had tummy pains on and off and was certain I was going to come on. Earlier I wiped and had the tiniest of brown blood on the tissue and every single time I wipe after having a wee I've had alot of clear stringy discharge. What could this mean?

NewSparkle · 25/03/2018 17:38

Hi everyone. I’m very new (& feel very alone) in this whole TTC lark. Came off pill before Xmas, cycle is all over the place, AF arrived today sadly. My friend wasn’t even trying & has announced her pregnancy & while I’m so happy for her I’m so upset for us. Prob just my Hormones talking. Best of luck, hope it happens for us soon.
