TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

@Unicorn234 I've been doing ovulation tests for the last 5 days, which is when my app (Kindara) predicted I'd be ovulating but all the results have been negative Confused. I have quite long cycles (33-36 days) so I'm wondering if that messes up the app predictions a little. Possibly helpful though as I'd been assuming the app was broadly correct before!

@AnotherOriginalUsername I was told these are just the initial blood tests to check FSH, testosterone and progesterone and to see if there is anything wrong.. the progesterone one is to see if I actually ovulate this cycle.. and the swabs are to see if there is anything unusual going on down there..
I also need to have another ultrasound scan done to see everything’s ok.. I had one done previously but I changed doctors and my old ones seem to have lost the results 🤦🏻‍♀️
Hope all goes well for you at your appt x

AnotherOriginalUsername · 13/03/2018 15:01

@WaitingForThatBFP best of luck, hope all comes back A-OK :)

Unicorn234 · 13/03/2018 17:28

Esk1 my cycle last month was 36 days and my cycles before my pill were all over the place, I was never regular.
I changed my cycle date on ovia to 36 day cycle and it says I'm fertile now but my test yesterday was negative so not sure 😟 maybe I'm not ovulating at all.

Esk1 · 13/03/2018 18:38

@Unicorn234 yes I'm having exactly the same worry but it's probably a bit early to be concerned about that? Also I think I might have had symptoms of ovulation around day 13. I've got another batch of tests and will start early next cycle - very annoying if I did ovulate earlier as my partner was stuck in a different city due to the snow, so no hope for this cycle!

jemimafuddleduck · 13/03/2018 19:03

I'm also concerned that I'm not ovulating! I'm not 100% sure if I've had a positive opk yet and this cycle have absolutely no CM 😕

I had creamy cm a couple of days ago but had nothing since. I'm really concerned that I'm not ovulating. I'm trying to push it to the back of my mind and not think like that 🙈

AnotherOriginalUsername · 13/03/2018 21:30

You have to go looking for CM most of the time. Have a poke around up there and see what you find. Your cervical position, texture (hard or soft) and degree of opening may also help you interpret your cycles. I'd say your body will give you more reliable clues than OPKs.

As for not ovulating, it can take a while for things to get back to normal, but if you're having periods off contraception, you're almost certainly ovulating.

Unicorn234 · 13/03/2018 23:40

I thought you could still have a period and not ovulate? @AnotherOriginalUsername

AnotherOriginalUsername · 14/03/2018 15:19

Been to see the powers that be, green light for baby making (good job really!). I may end up with irreparable heart damage but it's unlikely and I may die, but it's very unlikely.

There is a big list of rules that will apply, I'll have to see the cardiologist and obstetrician every 4 weeks throughout pregnancy for heart scans and baby growth scans, I will have to have a very controlled labour and birth (early epidural, max 30 mins pushing and then assisted delivery), I'll have to stay in hospital for a minimum of 3 days after the birth and baby may need some additional support.

Other than that, I'm good to go!

orangekitkat13 · 14/03/2018 15:35

@AnotherOriginalUsername that's good to hear. Fingers crossed you get your BFP soon and that all goes smoothly!

I'm on the TWW now as according to my app and CM I ovulated on Sunday. We DTD on Sunday so fingers crossed!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 14/03/2018 21:34

Good luck @orangekitkat13!

I've learnt a valuable lesson in the last couple of days - do not cycle 100 miles over 3 days in your fertile week. Will be cracking open the local anaesthetic vagisil tonight!! Confused

@AnotherOriginalUsername thanks!

That sounds uncomfortable!

jemimafuddleduck · 14/03/2018 23:03

@AnotherOriginalUsername Gray news about your go-ahead from the docs but shame about your foof! 😂

@orangekitkat13 Hope the TWW goes quicklyfor you!

I'm really hoping this is our month. I have no idea how people do this for years! I'm just entering my FW now so planning on DTD as much as possible!

@AnotherOriginalUsername so happy you got the go ahead.. hope all goes well..

@jemima I’m with you on that... really hope this is our month too... my doctor was saying she wouldn’t be surprised if I get a BFP next month as it tends to happen to quite a few of her patients once they get the ball rolling at the docs

Unicorn234 · 15/03/2018 21:25

Had an emotional breakdown earlier 🙈 just started crying for no reason what so ever lol. My nipples are feeling a little sensitive too.

Do you get emotional when ovulating?

Rmad6716 · 15/03/2018 22:12

Funny you should say that @Unicorn234 ! I've been the same all night. Been crying all the way through the movie 'mothers day' and my husband has been bearing the brunt of my snapping lol. Usually only happens to me the week before my withdrawal bleed...when I was on the pill anyway! I keep overreacting the past couple of days. I hope this isn't the new pill-less me haha! Hope you are ok GrinBiscuit

jemimafuddleduck · 15/03/2018 22:15

I'm an emotional wreck all the time @Unicorn234 haha!

I'm CD9 at the moment. Have done OPKs the last couple of days (as last cycle I got a strong one - but not sure if it was positive- on CD10). Complete negatives so far.

Argh!! I've also started temping this month so we'll see how that goes. Am doing it orally at the moment and my temps are a little all over the place. Dr Google says you get more accurate temps by testing vaginally but I'm not sure I'm hardcore enough for that yet...!

Unicorn234 · 15/03/2018 23:38

I'm not sure what came over me this morning, after my cry I felt fine and have been happy the rest of the day 🤣 hormones are a big fat pain in the bum lol

AnotherOriginalUsername · 16/03/2018 10:22

I've got to get pregnant this month, surely?!

orangekitkat13 · 16/03/2018 10:48

@AnotherOriginalUsername well you've certainly done everything you can! Fingers crossed!

Rmad6716 · 16/03/2018 10:49

Over the past 3 days I've been feeling increasingly ill. I keep getting excess saliva and a nauseous feeling. The thought of drinking anything this morning made me feel worse. Also been really tired when I've got home from work to the point I'm like an overtired toddler or bear with a sore head lol. Trying not to read into any of this but I do Just feel strange. Don't know if it could be anything to will being fully off the pill now after my first proper period. Even if I was to somehow miraculously have conceived it's only 10 days or so after it may have happened. It's amazing how any symptom turns into a what if?! Lol I have heard some women feel it straight away but I'm not convinced. Think it may just be my mind playing tricks! Anybody else feel like this at certain points in their cycle ? Confused

orangekitkat13 · 16/03/2018 11:40

@Rmad6716 I had similar first month after implant removal. It's probably your body just getting back to normal after contraception. But I have also heard that people get early symptoms so it is possible.

howiseverynametaken · 17/03/2018 03:16

Haha @AnotherOriginalUsername me too...! Fingers crossed! This waiting time is so annoying. The past 2 days I have had really sore boobs...i usually get this pre-AF but not this far before and not this sore. But I think it would be too soon to be anything else so maybe just an odd short cycle!

How are you going with OPKs @Jemimafuddleduck? I found the Clearblue ones so much easier...expensive so won't be using them every cycle but they have me reassurance last month. Keeping everything crossed for you!
