TTC #1, Cycle 1. Anyone In?

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, occasional commenter, rare poster here.
DH and I decided to start to TTC after much deliberation recently.
I've been on the pill for 16 years and haven't had a natural period in that time! Had my withdrawal bleed which started on 15th Jan and think I may have ovulated on Thursday 2nd Feb. I was doing OPKs (I know - first cycle, but if I'm going to do it, I'm going all in!) and got an almost-positive then - didn't have any more OPKs with me to test slightly later in the day.
DTD numerous times in what I'm estimating is my fertile week (working on the basis that my cycle is 28 days but don't really know at the moment).
So now the waiting begins.
Anyone in the same position or want to join?
Advice and your stories welcomed!

Does anyone else keep dreaming that they have a baby? Hmm

orangekitkat13 · 10/03/2018 20:05

I've had one of two! Mostly can't stop thinking about babies generally!

Unicorn234 · 10/03/2018 21:26

@AnotherOriginalUsername yes I've had a couple of dreams that I've had a baby lol.

Do you have to have discharge everyday to say that it could be working towards ovulation as I've had nothing today?

howiseverynametaken · 11/03/2018 00:04

I keep dreaming that i am going to have twins...im absolutely terrified of the thought of having two!

AnotherOriginalUsername · 11/03/2018 04:09

@Unicorn234 I think it's more the consistency than the volume

orangekitkat13 · 11/03/2018 16:00

I think I got my EWCM today, first time so that's exciting. However DH has the Sunday blues and is not at all in the mood! He knows that today is a good day but I don't just want to say we need to DTD today! Any tips?

jemimafuddleduck · 11/03/2018 16:18

@orangekitkat13 Nice underwear? Most men could say they're not in the mood until you walk in in sexy lingerie? Good luck, it's so frustrating when you need to DTD but one of you isn't in the mood!

How's everyone else getting on? This is c3 for me, day 5. Fertile window apparently begins next Friday but may try OPKs from slightly earlier this month as IF I did ovulate last month it was quite early!

@jemima hey.. I’m on day 2 today according to Ovia my fertile window starts in about 10 days but I’m just gonna have to keep an eye on my CF fingers crossed for this next cycle to be the one x

AnotherOriginalUsername · 11/03/2018 18:09

Apparently my fertile period starts today.

What do I have instead? Raging thrush for absolutely no reason whatsoever - what's that all about?!

jemimafuddleduck · 11/03/2018 18:37

@AnotherOriginalUsername oh no, absolute nightmare! Hopefully it'll clear up within a couple of days and you can get back on it. Canesten is amazing - highly recommend.

Yep, got supplies in - just don't know where it's appeared from, I've only ever had it as a result of taking antibiotics in the past

jemimafuddleduck · 11/03/2018 21:24

@AnotherOriginalUsername I hope you feel better soon. I'm prone to thrush and it's bloody awful Sad

Hello all,

Been on here for a month or so! Stopped the pill near the end of jan after 6 years on it. Been waiting on my period coming back and from hearing how long some of the lovely ladies have been waiting for it to return I was expecting a long slog but luckily it came last week. With a vengeance Shock. I was quite young when I last had a real period and never remember being quite so bad flow wise. I bled through my pyjamas two days straight! (Sorry if TMI!)I do have a family history of endometriosis so hoping it isn't that. Does anyone mind sharing how their first period was after stopping the pill?
As far as TTC goes we've done the deed twice since the period and I have to admit it's such a strange feeling! It didn't feel as real before my period came as I pretty much knew it probably couldn't happen yet. From years of trying to not get pregnant to now actively trying to. Very exciting but also a bit scary as I wonder how my body will handle it if or when it may happen! Baby dust to you all Grin

Rmad6716 · 12/03/2018 09:57

just read through and thought I'd add some about me lol Smile.

I'm 25, hubby 28 and we just got married last summerSmile. TTC 1st baby (hopefully)!

jemimafuddleduck · 12/03/2018 10:23

@Rmad6716
Welcome to the thread and good luck to you.
I know what you mean about it being a strange feeling trying for a baby after a lifetime of not!
Your periods are a complete contrast to mine, I have had two periods so far and they have both been two days long and extremely light. So much so I took pregnancy tests after each of them to make sure it wasn't just spotting!!
So we are at different ends of the spectrum... I don't think a light two day period is very healthy either, but I can't really remember what they were like before the pill!

@jemimafuddleduck

Thanks!

I'm hoping next months AF won't be as bad. I remember having terrible cramps pre pill but never the heaviness that I had last week.

I'm going to try my best to try and not overthink the TTC which I know is going to be so hard! I went and bought ovulation tests etc last month but I found myself stressing over it straight away.
It's amazing how much you need to think about when TTC. Find myself reading tips all the time lol.
Just going to continue as normal ...Or try to anyway!

Looking forward to everyone's updates on this thread, very exciting for all Grin

Unicorn234 · 12/03/2018 17:18

@jemimafuddleduck @Rmad6716
My first period after coming off the pill was only two days long aswell! And it was light, strange lol

Unicorn234 · 12/03/2018 17:36

Ladies I have a question about ovulation strips. I've bought a pack of 5 from Poundland and have taken one about 20 minutes ago and there was the normal line that's meant to come up and the other line was faint. If the other line is faint it says on the back of the packet that it's negative so does that test not count for anything? If it's got two lines appearing surely it's detecting something in the urine? Please help explain this to me lol

jemimafuddleduck · 12/03/2018 18:02

@Unicorn234 it's definitely negative. The second line has to be the same colour, if not darker than the control line. I don't know what the science behind it is though!

Unicorn234 · 12/03/2018 18:04

@jemimafuddleduck well ovia doesn't work very well then as I'm meant to be fertile now lol.
If I'm in my fertile window would it show I'm ovulating or no?

jemimafuddleduck · 12/03/2018 18:16

@Unicorn234 But Ovia only estimates your fertile window based upon averages, certainly for the first few months. Last cycle it said I'd ovulate on a certain day and I did an opk 4 days before and it was almost positive, then got lighter every day after that. So I think I actually ovulated one day BEFORE the Ovia fertile window. If I even ovulated - I'm not even sure I did!

Unicorn234 · 12/03/2018 18:26

I don't think I'm gonna use ovulation test again and just go with the flow lol and cross my fingers that I actually ovulate 🙈

snowbrigade · 13/03/2018 06:38

I'm now on cd23 and around 9dpo (assuming I ovulated...). Getting really impatient, I either want no AF and a BFP or want AF to arrive ASAP so we can start another cycle of trying!

Though think next cycle is likely to be a missed opportunity for us - I'll be in Barcelona around my fertile window with DH stuck here.

Not feeling pregnant at all, no symptoms whatsoever so very low hopes for this cycle. Still it's a bloody battle to stay patient and to not POAS. Determined not to test till my AF is late which is a week from now (though sometimes she comes early...)

WaitingForThatBFP · 13/03/2018 10:59

Hi all thought I’d update you.. just back from seeing the doctor.. currently on cycle day 4.. she’s sending me for blood tests.. one for today and one for cycle day 21 also getting some swabs done down there on Monday 😫😟😬 let’s see how it all goes 🙊

AnotherOriginalUsername · 13/03/2018 12:59

@WaitingForThatBFP are they looking for anything in particular?

I have an appointment tomorrow for heart scans and things and then an appointment to see a specialist in heart failure in pregnancy to discuss my results. I've already seen her and she's lovely, one of the top in her specialism and managed to see me within 12 hours of some weird symptoms, so I know I'll be in good hands when it does happen. I feel like I probably ought to have some questions for her, but I don't Confused
