Same here, though if I get pregnant again, I'm def having a private 8 week scan do at least that would hopefully give some reassurance pre 12 weeks

Juan I would def do the same and have an early scan next time too! I wouldn’t have found out about my MMC until 12 weeks if I hadn’t had an early scan for a random pelvic pain (which turned out to be a cyst in my ovary and nothing to do with the MMC)

Oh what a horrible shock for you haySad The thought of going for a 12 week scan and getting bad news terrifies me! I had a private scan at 8 weeks when I started spotting - went to the GP on the Weds and they couldn't get me an Epu appointment until the following Tuesday Shock - the baby had stopped growing at 6 weeks. Bless them, they didn't charge me for the scan. I was so glad I had it, miscarried on the Sunday and the blood and the pain would have sent me to A&E if I hadn't known from the scan that it was 'just' a miscarriage and not ectopic

I’ll also be doing a scan at 8 weeks next time. Luckily we have a walk in EPU where I am and I know they will be happy to scan for reassurance given my history. It would be so amazing to get a good heartbeat at 8/9 weeks just in time for Christmas 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 so hoping I fall this cycle! then I’d do harmony test between Xmas and NY before 12 week scan in early/mid January.

Hello! Fingers crossed for loads of BFPs this month. How amazing it would be to have an 8 week scan before Christmas.

I'm really excited about the holidays, though we have to spend them at the ILs this year and they are not "Christmas people". LOL

Ladies I hate to say this, but it might be worth doing a private scan just after 8 weeks. My 8 week scan was perfect - growth right on track and a strong heartbeat. Unfortunately when I turned up at my 12 week scan, baby had died. Statistically, you are very unlikely to miscarry after a healthy heartbeat is seen at 8 weeks, so it's so so unlikely to happen, but it does happen, and I'm one of the unfortunate statistics. If I get pregnant again, I'd get a private scan around 9-10 weeks. Not to put you off, but I just thought I'd let you know. Xx

Oh yes, I'm def thinking 8 week and 10 week scan if I get lucky again

GP has arranged blood tests to check for FSH (follicle stimulating hormone) LH (luteinising hormone) and testosterone.

Hey I'm new to this thread.
I MC two weeks ago, my first pregnancy after 12 moths of ttc.
I would have been 6weeks. We are ttc again now. I had my hospital appointment yesterday at the EPU and they confirmed that I had MC and said to come back to them for an 8 week scan next time I get a BFP. I had to wait 2 weeks for a scan after mc as the gp and midwife thought I was just having spotting as I had no pain at all just bleeding, lighter than a period but heavier than spotting. I have had 5 BFN and all symptoms gone. Has anyone actually become pregnant in the 6 weeks after mc?

I thought I was doing ok, but someone in a team next to mine has come in with their 7 week old baby...

flat that’s good news. Def keep us updated on results as I’m similar to you atm with no hormonal signs etc before / after AF.

I think I’d want to do an 8,9,10 and 11 week scan!... maybe we should just get scanners at home lol 😂
One of the worst bits of the MMC was still having all the symptoms of pg for a couple more weeks after finding about that our baby had died (while waiting for final results and the ERPC)

daffodil sending hugs xx

squiglyline Hi, welcome to the group. Sorry you find yourself here with us.
My mc was our first pg after 10 months of tcc - Hopefully it won’t take us as long this next time.
There have been people on here who have got pg after their mc before their first af... I was told not everyone ovulates in their first month after a mc but if you do then I guess there is no reason why you couldn’t conceive first time if your body allows and is ready 🙂 Good luck

@Flatwhite31 I had the same issue in the sense that my baby had a heartbeat at 8 weeks (had i had a scan they told me it would have shown a heartbeat as baby measured bang on 8 weeks and development was in line) so I would have been reassured only to have it die shortly after that scan.

Regardless I’ll have weekly scans from 8 weeks onwards next time as I want to know ASAP if it stops developing. Miscarrying an 8 week sized embryo was horrible enough I cannot bear to imagine having to go through that with a larger sized one. Sorry if this is upsetting for anyone.

Actually this makes me wonder if other stuff in there continued to grow until I actually miscarried at 10 weeks... no point in dwelling on it I guess.

I will always have early scans as we found out about our second mc at our 8 week private scan where they discovered anembryonic pregnancy (my medical management didn't work so when I finally did miscarry at 10 weeks, the sac had continued growing at quite a rate so I think the sac may continue to grow in the situation of a mmc @grumpy)

But I will wait a bit longer this time as with our third miscarriage, we had a private scan at 6.5 weeks (I wanted it so early as was worried about another anembryonic!) and all appeared ok and saw heartbeat etc. And then still miscarried a week later. So this time I'm going to wait until 8 weeks... then go again at 10 weeks....

@squiglyline hi and sorry for your loss. I'm now pregnant again, without having a period after the miscarriage. I ovulated 14 days after I miscarried, maybe 7 days after the bleeding had stopped. I had ridiculous amounts of EWCM but thought surely I can't be ovulating so quickly but I must of! I'm only 4.5 weeks so keeping everything crossed. I've already been for 2 knicker checks today as felt a bit crampy but nothing to see so far... If I make it to 8 weeks I'm going to be an absolute wreck waiting for the scan...

Hi @fillybee hope you don’t mind me asking you a few questions?
When did you get BFP after miscarriage? And when did your symptoms come back.
I know it’s probsbly all in my head but I’ve had nausea, sore boobs and my back ache is back with a vengeance!

@beanhunter it's so annoying when different doctors give different/completely conflicting advice!! The more I learn about it the more certain areas of medicine (fertility especially) seems to be based on opinion rather than actual science fact. It doesn't help us Sad

@daisy no problem. I got bfp on the evening of 9dpo. I did one in the morning and it was negative, then the one in the evening was so so faint but now being an expert I could see the hint of a line so was sure I was... next day it was a little darker and now is quite a nice line so I'm feeling a bit more hopeful about this pregnancy as I'm sure the lines are darkening quicker than for my 3 mcs.

I was quite tearful at 8pdo which is the only symptom I get before bfp.

My boobs are a bit sore now but not crazily so. Nothing else symptom wise!

Thanks filly for your post on the rmc. I should be getting an appointment really soon and am going to ask everything you did.

So I have had 3 MCs in 3 consecutive cycles this year. My first two were only after 4 and 5 weeks and were just like late periods (though with +ve PG tests). I got pregnant straight away after both.

My last MC was at 11 weeks and I had a heavy horrible AF out of the blue 6 weeks after the MC and am now in fertile week. Have had flashing smiley faces but not a static smiley.

I don't think I ovulated in the 6 weeks after my MC as had no EWCM or anything, but I am possibly back to something resembling normal now.

Been dtd and then after the weekend, I should be in the 2ww. Again.

@Fillybee I had the same when it grew for a few extra weeks after everything would've already been over.

Just came back from the Drs, cried like a bitch when we started the appointment which actually hasn't really happened in a while. What do you know, the Dr had a mmc with her first pregnancy too. Why the hell is this not talked about more?!

Loving your optimism grumpy! Keeping my fingers crossed for lots of 🎄🎄🎄 bfps around here.

I was scanned at 6 weeks by my infertility clinic so thankfully saw the heartbeat before it stopped just before 9 weeks. When I told them about the miscarriage they said 'okay next time you're pregnant will scan you at 6 weeks then 9 weeks to give you reassurance'

I appreciated them saying when not if even though we all know there are not guaranteed with any of this ❤️
