@physicskate, just wondering how things are panning out with IVF? xx

Hi @tee4me! At least three weeks away from starting stims. I'm on short protocol which starts cd2. Glad we decided to wait a cycle, as my BIL was diagnosed with terminal bowel cancer and my aunt is in ICU... so we're obviously a bit distracted...

Starting to feel the effects of thyroxine (even my pitifully low dose). Thinking of taking my own advice and going to the gp to monitor thyroid... even though (in my case) that's probably overkill...

How are you?? I do think about you all often...

Had a serious incident of cyberbullying on mumsnet so I don't post much anymore - but I'm still around. Like I don't have enough going on now to be hounded by anti-infertiles? But anyway...

Tee4me · 13/05/2018 22:33

WTF? Cyberbullying? By grown women on Mumsnet? How bizarre, sorry you've had to deal with that on top of everything else 😡

You are getting so close now! Sorry to hear about the family though. God you've got so much on your plate. I hope you are managing to take time out and chill.

Nothing to report here 👎🏻

And I was offered a job yesterday! It's part-time, low pay and dead end. Perfect for now!!!! (But shit for long term...) not sure how it will look on the cv!! I really think it's going to be quite nice! They asked why I was interested in a job so far below my experience and qualifications and I nearly cried thinking about all that's happened!! They seemed sympathetic and the fire and mudslide, and now potentially being a bit of a career/ helper for bil.

Russkispy · 17/05/2018 21:11

Took the test on Monday, 11dpiui and got BFP! We cried ! Total shock and disbelief! My doctor told me to do beta tests on 12dpiui and 14dpiui which I’ve now finished today. And beta numbers are more than doubled from 12dpiui. Early scan is booked for next month as per my doctor’s instructions. I still can’t believe!

Tee4me · 17/05/2018 21:35

Amazing @Russkispy!! Congratulations!! 😘

So IUI worked for you both times right?! How many attempts did you have in total?

Mimilicious013 · 18/05/2018 06:55

congratulations @russkipy, wow that is so exciting! !

waves @tee @physicskate @footy1 and everyone else.

nothing to report. still down in the dumps lol

Footy1 · 18/05/2018 07:27

Congratulations 🥂⭐️Russ! Fantastic news. Glad iui worked well for you, was it expensive? You must be very pleased 😁

Footy1 · 18/05/2018 07:28

Hey Mimi .. I'm good, just plodding on with life. No change here, no period since Nov! Sad

physicskate · 18/05/2018 08:58

Wow congrats Russ! You must be over the moon!!

Sounds like everyone else is a bit low... like me. Misery loves company??

I'm convinced my thyroid is why I haven't had any pregnancies/ chemicals since last March. So I guess that means I'm convinced it's the cause of my infertility... so I'm putting on my big girl pants and heading to the gp in two weeks to show them the scientific (and my anecdotal) evidence and get bloods done. It's pointless doing ivf when I know it won't work because of this...

Russkispy · 18/05/2018 19:58

Thank you ladies! We’re over the moon! And just lucky again that it worked from the first attempt (I’m 42 now!)! I didn’t really respond to Clomid this time, and on CD10 I had 4 follicles but only around 11ml. And that after taking Clomid for 5 days. Very disappointing. So she told me to inject Gonal for 2 days, then had my scan and the dominant one grew to 15ml (cd12). Had one more Gonal injection, then Ovitrelle on cd13. And on CD15, had IUI. I then had 2 dominant follicles which grew to 21ml! Minutes before the procedure she “warned” about potential twins! Haha and how we laughed! I squeezed 2 sessions of acupuncture before IUI. And we also DTD prior IUI. On the day of IUI, we were told that DH’s deposit wasn’t enough! So thankfully we had his frosted stuff from before! It took an hour to defrost it then they mixed them both and got 90% motility. After IUI the doctor was holding my hand, reassuring me. I was lying on my back for half an hour, then on the drip for 20 minutes. Then was given tons of supplements including progesterone. IUI was €250! Then I had to pay for supplements, Gonal And Ovitrelle and scans. The whole lot was around €700. The most caring nurses and doctors and everyone else working there! Literally like a family to us! My early scan is booked in 3 weeks. Just hope it goes well till then and beyond! Thank you for all your messages!

emalady · 24/05/2018 10:10

Hi, can I join? Also a bit down in he dumps but started fluoxetine which is helping a bit. TTC #1 for about 2 years but currently on TWW following first round of ICSI (IVF) - didn't meet criteria so having to pay.

physicskate · 03/06/2018 14:45

Welcome emalady! As you can tell, this thread isn't very busy anymore... but you are welcome all the same.

Starting ivf tomorrow and bricking it.

Tee4me · 03/06/2018 15:05

@emalady how did you get on?? 🤞🏻
Good luck @physicskate, keep us posted won't you?! xx

OP posts:
physicskate · 03/06/2018 18:54

Of course!

The clinic said to ring on cd 1, but cd1 was Saturday, so I'm just going to rock up and hope they can fit me in to start! Sounds and feels mad!! Hence why I'm bricking it - will see what they say!

emalady · 04/06/2018 12:29

@Tee4me just got my BFP confirmed by bloods, now just have to wait for the early scan to confirm a sticky bean hopefully!!

physicskate best of luck, hope it all goes well and the hormones don't drive you too crazy!

Tee4me · 04/06/2018 14:50

@emalady amazing!! You must be so pleased after all this time! Makes me want to get going with IVF ASAP! Just a couple more natural tries then might need to twist DH's arm x

OP posts:
Tee4me · 04/06/2018 14:51

How did it go @physicskate?

OP posts:
physicskate · 04/06/2018 14:57

Congrats @emalady!

It was really scary at first. But went very smoothly. I left with two shopping bags of meds. Was taught how to do the injection (and did the first one!!!!) and told about each of the meds. Basically I only need to worry about 1 (gonal f) until next scan on friday. It stung a little but was ok...

Mimilicious013 · 05/06/2018 10:48

Hie lovelies
Congratulations @emalady .a happy and healthy pregnancy to you

Mimilicious013 · 05/06/2018 10:51

Hope everyone is doing well 🌸

emalady · 07/06/2018 14:01

Thanks @mimilicious013 , @physicskate and @Tee4me
@mimilicious013 hope you are doing ok. 3 years is such a long time, hope you have support around you as well as here.
@physicskate how are you doing with the injections? I got my husband to give me loads of mine, he bruised me less often than I bruised myself. I'm glad I have finished with injections for now but the progesterone "cream" is kinda gross. Not sure if anyone else is having to deal with it too?
@Tee4 me, it took ages to convince DP to go for SA, once he did it was pretty obvious we were going to need IVF/ICSI for anything to happen. I was a bit annoyed about the delay. It was really good when we started as it felt we were actually "doing" something and not just hoping, especially as sex was becoming a bit of a chore which isnt great for a relationship!!

@russkipy you must be due for your scan at some point soon. Hope all is going well for you.

physicskate · 07/06/2018 14:10

@emalady - Injections going fine (three down!). Bruising?? I haven't had any and I bruise like a peach! I even get bruises from acupuncture sometimes. Not looking forward to the pessaries, but it's a small price to pay I reckon. Scan tomorrow so hoping for some thicker lining and some follies!! Hopefully they can see both ovaries - they couldn't see the right one on Monday?

Hope you're all enjoying the weather!!

Mimilicious013 · 07/06/2018 15:15

How are you feeling @physicskate?hope the meds and jabs are not so bad.thinking of you
