Yes thats interesting. And also quite reassuring!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 11/10/2017 23:07

Yes, really interesting, especially given the woman who got pregnant at 47 having gone through the menopause!

Also this from Robert Winston saying most women are fertile well into their mid 40s: www.telegraph.co.uk/health-fitness/body/women-being-wrongly-pushed-into-ivf-treatment-by-private-clinics/

Cleozeta · 12/10/2017 00:34

Thats the kind of article we need to see!

Hi guys, hope you don't mind if i hop on here! i recognise step and ekphrasis from another thread a while ago when i first had my mmc in July. Since then I've been Temping/charting and taking all sorts of supplements. Ive been on maca, Bcomplex, zinc, high dose VitC, folic acid, iodine, magnesium and recently started ubiquinol. i really just wanted to ask:
A) what dosage of ubiquinol are you on? (I'm doing 200mg) a day but not sure if thats enough.
B) how long were you taking it before you fell pregnant?

Its only been two weeks for me and I'm still actively rogering in fertile week, infact, I'm 11dpo waiting for AF as my temp dropped this morning!! aaarrrgggghhhh.
I don't think i can wait the recommended 3 months for the ubiquinol to start having an effect on my eggs! having said that i have been on the others for 3 months and i exercise 6 days a week and eat pretty well apart from a chocolate addiction. I don't drink and have one cup of tea in the morning.

dudemeister76 · 12/10/2017 12:41

i should also add I'm about to turn 41 on 21st October!

StepAwayFromGoogle · 12/10/2017 13:17

Hi dude! I recognise you from the ttc thread too.

I was on 100mg ubiquinol a day for about three months before I conceived. I also took b complex, extra B6, high dose folic acid (5mg a day) and extra vitamin d on top of my ttc multivitamin. And baby aspirin (75mg) a day.

We had an enforced period of not trying while I had all the recurrent miscarriage tests between Warwick and Coventry hospitals - so about 3 months since my last miscarriage. Then got pregnant first month of trying. Saying that, getting pregnant doesn't seem to be my problem, it's staying pregnant I struggle with.

So far so good with this one. We are about the same age - I turned 41 in September and am 10+3 now. Best of luck. It is very possible x

Rememberallball · 12/10/2017 13:39

Dude, my earliest expected cycle D1 for IVF month is Saturday 21st so it's a day ringed in red in my diary. I will raise a glass (of fizzy water as can't have anything stronger) to your birthday x

dudemeister76 · 12/10/2017 15:29

Thanks step i'm so chuffed you're upduffed and keeping all my bits crossed for a hassle free pregnancy ending in the rainbow baby you so deserve. Have you had any extra scans this time? also did you take the aspirin whilst ttc or after bfp? I've got some but haven't started them yet. unsure how they affect AF?? ill literally try anything this time though to hopefully prevent another miscarriage. Ive also got an appointment with docs on the 7th november to hopefully get some blood tests done if I'm not upduffed by then. Im due AF on monday so only time will tell.

dudemeister76 · 12/10/2017 16:52

Thanks remember xx I will be on the fizzy water too haha.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 12/10/2017 17:18

Aw, thank you, dude, that's lovely. I hope you get your bfp soon too (and manage to keep your panic to a minimum - I was a mess!).

I've had two scans so far - one at 6+3 and one at 9 weeks - because of my history of miscarriage. I was so scared. But both showed a wiggling baby with a good heartbeat. Just got to get through the 12 week scan a week on Monday and might then be able to breathe out a teeny weeny bit.

I took the aspirin while trying to conceive and still on it now. Think the consultant said to take it until 12 weeks (which I'll have to check, actually). No idea if any of it worked or if it was sheer luck but, like you, I'd have done anything not to go through another miscarriage.

I really wish you the best of luck x

DT2016 · 13/10/2017 13:59

Hi ladies

Do you mind if I join you? I turned 40 in August. I have a DS who will be 5 in a few days time.

We are TTC #2 but I suffered a traumatic cervical ectopic last year and had an early mc this week at 5 weeks ☹️

Hoping my cycle kicks back in quickly so that we can try again. Third time lucky, I hope.

Have just reordered some Ubiquinol. May get back on the baby aspirin every other day too. Trying to stay positive, but it's hard!

X

StepAwayFromGoogle · 13/10/2017 14:45

Hi DT, sorry to hear about your losses. Miscarriage is truly sh*t. I hope you've got lots of love and support around you to get through this early stage.

When I saw Professor Quenby at Coventry she explained to me that, by 40, 50% of your eggs are faulty which is why there is more chance of miscarriage. I found that truly depressing at the time but it does mean that odds are on your side for a sticky bean next time. Ubiquinol is meant to be a bit of a wonder supplement for improving egg quality so it's a good thing to take.

Wishing you the very best of luck.

DT2016 · 13/10/2017 19:58

Thanks @StepAwayFromGoogle You're so right, miscarriage is so utterly sh@t. Way too many of us have to endure it, and more than once too. Nature really can be cruel.

However, whilst my latest mc has been heartbreaking, the physical side of things has been much simpler so I'm grateful for small mercies.

My brain is playing tricks on me tho. My baby that managed to implant in the wrong place was growing perfectly, but ultimately died and nearly killed me in the aftermath. However, this time round, baby clearly wasn't perfect and resulted in early miscarriage. If only those babies were swapped (iyswim) then life would be so different.

I hope we all have some happiness soon 🤞 xx

Cleozeta · 18/10/2017 17:48

How is everyone doing?
I don't think I'm going to ov this month, despite taking soy cd3-7. I just have a feeling. All opk's totally blank so far, now on cd12 and losing hope. I definitely had a faint line this time last month. Starting to think I might have to give up. Body is clearly too old and just not up to it. A bit gutted.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 18/10/2017 18:57

Cleozeta, I'm not a massive fan of OPKs. The month I conceived I got 12 days of flashing smileys and no static. But I clearly ovulated! Don't give up. If you think you aren't ovulating, the doctor can prescribe medication like clomid to bring it on. Maybe worth a visit? x

Cleozeta · 18/10/2017 19:18

Thanks step. I do find opk's stressful!
Does not help that they are always blank as blank can be.
I heard somewhere that docs will not perscribe clomid to over 40's? I could check but sometimes I feel like its a bit of a crazy joke with my body the way it is, to even try. Why does age suddenly creep up and slap us in the face??

minime2017 · 18/10/2017 23:03

Cleo I'm in tww again after another round of soy. Don't know why I've bothered as my diet has been shocking. Should be due to rest in about 7 days. Bloated so much but that's likely related to the mountains of sugar I've been eating - I need to get a grip. Kinda in self destruct wondering what s the point of restricting everything as it's not working anyway...v mature eh?

Cleozeta · 18/10/2017 23:29

I know what you mean minime. I find it hard to give up on things I like too, with knowing the reality of the chances of anything happening, but I guess the irony is that it probably lessens the chances!
I've tried everything this month, soy, EPO, prenatal vits, royal jelly, etc, I'm constantly taking pills. Then I don't even bloomin ovulate after all that. So frustrating! Makes it all feel so pointless

Rememberallball · 19/10/2017 07:24

Morning all. I’m now on countdown to arrival of AF. Yes, I know we usually DON’T wast her presence but, this month, it means I book our flights to Cyprus and start taking the meds in preparation for our ivf cycle!!

Hope everyone is well and that this month is kind to us all xx

FutureMum · 19/10/2017 08:48

Hello! I am 40, but one DD aged 7. TTC #2. Had a MC last year. Then stopped TTC for a while. Now back on to it (just). Feeling nervous (DD has additional needs) and hopeful at the same time. Trying not to get too hopeful.

Cleozeta · 19/10/2017 10:52

Cd 13 and still completely blank opk, not even a hint of a line. Do you think taking soy on 3-7 instead of 2-6 like last time would have made a difference? Still trying to hold out hope that I may just be late ov this month but I'm struggling as I think its a lost cause.

Good luck with your IVF rememberallball and welcome futuremum

minime2017 · 19/10/2017 23:52

Cleo when I did 3-7 it was cd14 before positive opk. It was a week and day after last soy , and I think cd15 when I ov as af arrived 14 days later, as always. Still hope

littlemimosa · 20/10/2017 11:24

Hi all, please could i join? I'm 41 and have been ttc number 3 for, well, ages. I've lost count of the number of cycles as it has been over a year but we've missed quite a few months in that time. So prob about 8-9 cycles.
I'm getting pretty disheartened now as i only have 1 ovary and my cycles are starting to show signs of getting a bit out of whack.
I've been having acupuncture and have had 3 good 29/29 day cycles since, so was really pleased until this month where i seem to have ovulated as soon as AF finished! Like day 5.....it's the 2nd time this has happened in the last year. Boo. I do often ovulate early but more like day 10-12. Does this happen to anyone else?
I'm on prenatal vits, ubiquinol, EPO and just started Agnus Castus this month. The only thing i can link it to is stress as the 2 times this has happened i've been quite stressed so need to try to sort that out.

Anyway, hope everyone is well. Been reading the stories of soy with interest. Cleo have you had a positive yet?

Cleozeta · 20/10/2017 16:02

Welcome littlemimosa, not sure about early ov, although on the plus side it will only be 2 weeks from then until you can try again! (We have to find positives in everything or we'll go mad!!)

no ov for me yet, just done another opk and still not even a hint of a line. I think the soy hasn't worked this month unfortunately. Was so excited last mont when it did, makes it even more disapointing when the next time it doesn't. Should have stuck to cd2-6 as that worked for me. Also have been wondering if the EPO has had an adverse affect on ov, but not sure how, just trying to second guess everything.
I think the most frustrating thing about no ov this month is that I've no idea when the cycle will end and I can try again, could be months :-(

littlemimosa · 20/10/2017 20:49

Thanks for the welcome Cleo.
And thanks for the positive slant on my crazy early ovulation. I'm going to try to remember your words as each month that slips by is so frustrating.
How odd about your opk...what Cd are you on? Do you ovulate every month normally (that you know of)? What prompted you to take the soy? Sorry for all the questions, i'm just curious and am wanting to know more about it. I just started a higher dose of EPO (1000mg) this last couple of weeks and i'm also wondering if it's messed up my ovulation.....hmmmmm...
