purplekitty, thanks so much for your kindness. Whilst my weight may not be the reason I'm not conceiving, I can't rule it out. There's epidemiological data that suggests obese (so >30 BMI) take longer to conceive, and the time it takes increases with the degree of obesity. I guess weight loss is the only control I have over ttc, but you are right about not beating yourself up about it.

Kittykat I saw my GP at 7 months just to get the ball rolling. Your practise may have a GP with a special interest in fertility/sexual health, so it may be worth seeing them as they are more likely to know what tests to do, and the referral pathway

SmittenPears · 17/01/2017 01:13

Positive OPK today! Lots of BDing over the weekend, so... fingers crossed!

Redpony1 · 17/01/2017 09:19

I'm now CD42 since coming off Cerelle Sad

Hi All

This may be the wrong thread but there seems to be so many of you on this one with so much experience I thought I would as for some woman to woman advice please!

I have recently stopped taking the contraceptive pill Logynon as I had been on it for 10 years and I felt like the hormones were really taking a toll.
Myself and partner are not trying for a baby just yet but it will be on the cards in the next couple of years so my thinking is if I am in as natural a cycle as possible then when the time comes, hopefully we will conceive sooner rather than later.

I had my last period the first week of December 2016 and have not taken the pill since.
I am yet to have another period which I know is normal but I have noticed some strange things happening to my body and wanted to check in with you all..... (pregnancy test taken in the week I would have had AF should I have been on the pill and came back negative so our current contraceptive method seems to be working!)

Soooo....

  1. My boobs have grown and are so tender around the sides
  2. My nipples seem to be much more pronounced
  3. I am experiencing what feel like PMS cramping but no period as yet
  4. Sex is SO much better
  5. My vaginal fluid seems to have increased ten-fold!

Has anyone else experienced the same things?

Also, I was placed on the pill due to very heavy and very irregular periods when I was younger, how long do you think I should go without a period before going to see my GP? I read somewhere that if you dont have 3 in one year it is advisable to go!? I want to make sure as I said above that when the time comes to TTC I am giving myself as much of a head start as possible. I am taking primrose oil with starflower oil, agnus cactus and vitmain B supplements as I researched/read they help to regulate hormones in a natural way to get you into a natural cycle!

Thanks in advance!

Emma x

Hi Emma,

I've just come off of Logynon after nine years on the 30/12!!

Great to hear someone the same! I have noticed the fluid cringes when DTD. Oh my - it's so much better. Haven't had a real af yet. Praying it isn't painful or heavy. It's a long time ago but remember period pains.

littleemma1 · 17/01/2017 22:20

Hi Sshsecretenclosed

Oh fab, so pleased to hear someone else has done the same around the same time!

My libido has increased and I never even thought it had been a problem before! So much so, my DOH has said I've exhausted him 😂🙈

Have POAS 3 times in the past 2 weeks just to make sure I'm not PG and so far it's coming out as negative, which I thought I wanted however I've realised that I desperately want a baby but having spoken with DOH at great lengths it's not really the right time, but then when is?!

Anyone have any advice on how to squash the crazy brooding for now please? Or do I just try and convince him otherwise?!

Emma x

MrsFish13 · 17/01/2017 22:31

Littleemma
I believe the pill squashes your sex drive, it is quite normal to feel more frisky!! A couple of weeks ago (i think around the time i ovulated) my husband was trying on suits, I could have ripped his clothes off and gone for it in the changing room - I dont remember the last time I felt desire like that!!

I have had a lot of cramping and no period, I stopped bc dec 4th, had a bit of spotting end of the month only.

When I think I O'd I had 4 days of intense cramps and bloating/wind, which have now passed - I only think I O'd at that time because of the EWCM, which I dont remember seeing for years when on BC.

I am a few days off AF, and have done weekly POAS just in case, but nothing. I feel like my boobs are going to explode they are so tender, seemed to start in my nipples and is now radiating across the breasts.

I have had a few mild shooting pains going up.my vagina (tmi) and a frequent ache internally. No bleed what so ever.
Oh and an on off lower back ache.
Increased dreams, some of a sexual nature and other regarding friends being pregnant - who arent and have no intention of having more, previously I rarely remembered dreams.

I think 14 dpo is at the weekend, at which point I will know if I have extreme PMS or fx hace been lucky (not hopeful).

can any of you other ladies tell me about your first post pill af symptoms please.

thanks :-)

Sshsecretenclosed · 17/01/2017 22:31

Haha that's for you to decide with DH.

I just feel like I'm surrounded by babies currently and don't want people to know how desperate I am for one 🙈

It's a whirlwind coming off the pill that's for sure. Definitely feel like sex much more and it's so much more comfortable too!

Seven0fNine · 17/01/2017 23:07

Welcome Emma you are organised coming off the pill in advance! Don't think you can really stop that urge as it'd natural instinct however when I first came off the pill I was so excited and just assumed it would happen straight away. Now 6 months later I have calmed down a bit and actually it's all just probably natures way of working out the best time for us to have a baby. For us, it taking longer to conceive just gives us more time to prepare, save up and sort ourselves out. Starting with the new bigger car which were getting on Thursday! Don't get me wrong tho, I'm still horrendously broody!

Mrsfish I had no symptoms at all. First month off pill I had everything. Sore boobs, felt sick, tummy cramps. Loads of AF/pg symptoms. Then after that nothing at all until 3 months later suddenly one afternoon AF was there and I shouted "yeaaaaaa" out loud in the bathroom at work. First two afs were really light ones too which I didn't expect!

MrsFish13 · 18/01/2017 07:10

Thank you Seven, that sounds similar to where I possibly am, a ton of uncomfortable symptoms yet nothing to show for it.

Is it possible to not ovulate and have an extremely light period? How about EWCM, does that only come when you O?

I have ordered a BBT themometer and the tablets, ready to start when I get over what I think is my 2ww.

I wish I could just get on with enjoying life and stop obsessing, but its just not that easy. I can suffer from my mental health, so need to be careful with it all so as not to become unwell.

purplek1tty · 18/01/2017 11:51

Welcome Emma and SshSecret. Echoing the others, fantastic that you're coming off the pill in good time.

I had crazy symptoms went I first came off, and had a couple of evenings feeling miserable on the sofa after work with a hot water bottle due to cramping and feeling generally crap. 5 months later, still no AF!

Also notice a difference in sex drive etc.

My first AF was pretty normal (apart from taking 6 months to turn up!). Some minor cramping the night before and then normal flow/pains etc for 4-5 days. Almost quite the anti-climax after wanting it for so long!

Seven0fNine · 18/01/2017 18:29

I'm not sure Mrsfish I only noticed the slightest bit of ewcm last cycle for the first time but I haven't exactly been searching for it but it was just over 2 weeks before af!

So frustrating not knowing. All opks have been negative so far!

MrsFish13 · 18/01/2017 21:40

Thank you Seven.

My EWCM was quite obvious, but only for 1 day.
I did one OPK but thought I was out of the window by the time they arrived - They seem like a bit of a pain, with timing, drink etc. I work in the community so not so easy for me to do them.

PurpleKitty, 6 months is a seriously long time to wait for AF, are you more regular now?

Good luck to everyone with either getting AF or BFP :-)

littleemma1 · 18/01/2017 22:24

HI All
Thanks so much for the advice, really settling my anxiety as I was really worried. When you read the NHS websites etc it doesnt really mention any of this!
Yes, I pride myself on being super-organised lol :) just hope when the time comes I'll have been off the pill long enough.
I am trying to reason with my brooding, the main thing is we would really like to be married before TTC and I need to try and remember that! I just find it so difficult and similar to others I've found I'm dreaming about babies, babies and more babies! It seems to have gotten worse since I came off the pill too. Think I am secretly hoping for an "accident".
Is there a time frame you ladies think is reasonable to wait before visiting the GP if AF doesnt arrive?

Good luck to everyone TTC, got everything crossed for you all xxx

KittyKat73 · 19/01/2017 11:35

Thank you purplekitty and mishybakes i think im just building up the courage to go to my GP. to make sure everything is ok.

CD 49! i have decided if i get to February and still no AF ill make an appointment.

Welcome littleemma! definitely best being super organized with this i wish i was! my partner and I decided we would TTC january last year but i never came off the pill until June because i was convinced it would happen straight away so my advice to everyone from now on is come off as soon as possible and use other contraception until your ready. Symptom wise coming off the pill my sex drive is definitely though the roof! plus i now have obvious signs my period is about to come like nausea, sore boobs/ nipples, cramping etc.

I got my first nautral AF on CD42 then it reduced every month and my last on was CD32. ( Although my womb has thrown a spanner in the works this month and its been super long!) Without knowing too much about all this being relatively new myself i would maybe give it 2 -3 months to let your body settle and if still nothing go to your GP :) good luck! hope everything settles quickly for you! xx

Sshsecretenclosed · 19/01/2017 19:12

TMI alert but my nipples are so sore post ovulation this month - only a couple of days. It's so strange this coming off the pill malarkey

purplek1tty · 20/01/2017 11:57

Littleemma I waited 4 months, which was enough for the Dr to start running bloods.

I wouldn't at all blame you if you decided to go sooner though!

Currently 6dpo. It's genuinely great (if not totally distracting) to be in the 2ww. You all be here soon!

littleemma1 · 20/01/2017 16:17

Hi all, As it happens AF arrived today. That explains why I could've cried a bucket last night for no apparent reason!
Fingers crossed I'll be in a regular cycle in no time. Already got my OV tracker and sticks ready to hand as well!

Thanks for all the advice lovely ladies, I'm so pleased I came across this thread xxx

MrsFish13 · 22/01/2017 15:24

Thats fantastic news Littleemma :-)

I am still in limbo, I took my temperature yesterday morning and it put me back to OV - it was quite high, not sure if I mucked it up. OH is away so no BDing for us.

Woke up today feeling like death, migraine and queesy, actually brought up the liquid I drank this morning :-(
Spent the day dozing and watching films, perfect sunday :-) other than feelin awful.

Another BFN a couple of days ago - only tested as Ovia said it was time.......

KittyKat73 · 24/01/2017 11:20

Hey ladies just a wee update currently on CD54 Hmm think im in the 2 month wait nevermind 2week wait!

surprisingly feeling pretty relaxed about it all just waiting for AF to arrive whenever and until it shows up ill wear my nicest knickers and DTD whenever we want with no tcc pressure which is lovely Grin

Did POAS yesterday but the test was faulty .... used that many so suppose i was going to come across one at some point! had 2 BFN within the past month so def not preggers.

it will be like meeting a long lost friend when it appears haha!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 24/01/2017 11:26

CD29 off cerazette. No sign of AF and no idea if ovulation has restarted. BFN this morning. Bored and fed up!

littleemma1 · 24/01/2017 12:39

So AF lasted 3 days, amazing!
Going to start tracking OV now to give me a good idea of my cycles. Got my sticks and my app ready, I feel like I'm armed and fabulous right now!
How's everyone else doing? X

Redpony1 · 24/01/2017 12:46

January seems like the longest month ever. CD48 off Cerelle now Sad

littleemma1 · 24/01/2017 15:27

I was CD47 when AF arrived after the pill so stay hopeful! X

MrsFish13 · 24/01/2017 20:54

Yay littleemma :-)

I am similar, AF has arrived!!! :-) very light but 27 days after spotting and a little heavier than before.

Have started Agnus cactus, and hope that I can improve things for next month and strengthen my estrogen/progestogen. Excited that things are going in the right direction, and my instincts were right regarding timings.

Question, can I have light bleeds and not be ovulating? I had 4 days of agony around ovulation, so a little disappointed that the flood gates havent opened, I thought at least 6 eggs must have got through ;-)
