CatMum wanted to say also that my GP has been relatively helpful but they very much think that things will sort themselves out and it isn't a big deal. I think maybe worth going back to yours in the first instance?

CatMum87 · 11/01/2017 15:19

Thanks for that info. I can totally understand where you are coming from and reasons for going private......hopefully you'll get the reassurance that you need or guide you in the right direction.

I haven't really told any friends or family about it, not something you easily throw into a conversation is it lol, and didn't want the pressure of people knowing. But it has been a strange year, bit of a roller coaster.......how many times I've googled things has driven me insane but i certainly think i've learnt a lot! Also been keeping myself occupied with wedding planning has helped :)

Definitely think your right and a trip to the doctor again is in order. Was going to see how this cycle goes and then go back and see what they say.

purplek1tty · 11/01/2017 16:26

Tell me about it! Googling is the worst. It is only too easy to become an armchair expert. Saying that it has amazed me how little some medical professionals know about fertility and women's reproductive cycle.

I have had one nurse telling me that I am probably ovulating regularly even though I'm not getting periods. (which I know is not impossible but she didn't seem to understand the link between ovulation and periods)

And my GP diagnose me with Endometriosis (which was wrong) and telling me that this has caused my crazy cycles. (even though there isn't really a link between irregular/long periods and Endo).

I'm hoping my experience tomorrow will be more positive!

TTC is a weird one. Some people are so honest with it CatMum but like you, I've struggled to tell even the closest friends and family.

Purpleviola14 · 11/01/2017 17:31

Lol catmum I'm exactly the same! Turn 30 this year too so really keen to get things moving, so I too will be cheeky and ask how much the private consultations cost kitty
I'm seeing the acupuncturist twice a month, before and after ovulation, I'm with you on the cost, mines £36 a pop Hmm but it does feel proactive!
I had my bloods done too last year and all fine, hubbys last sa is due the end of the month so from there we are hopefully being referred for more tests. It can't come quick enough tbh. Was watching one born again today, I cry every time a baby is born, both cos it's so beautiful and cos I want one so much! God honestly I need to get a grip!!

Purpleviola14 · 11/01/2017 17:37

Just realised there was another page! Be sure to let us know how your appointment goes kitty. Can't believe your go wrongly diagnosed you with endoShock

purplek1tty · 11/01/2017 17:51

Will do!

Yeah I had one cyst after the ultrasound and my GP told me its probably Endo. The Gynecologist took one look at it and rolled his eyes! (my insesent googling had already suggested that she was wrong) It still gave me a few weeks extra worry though Sad

purplek1tty · 12/01/2017 18:56

Hey CatMum and Viola, thought I'd just let you know how the appointment went.

The consultant was lovely, she's arranged for us to have AMH test, repeat bloods and semen analysis. (SA and bloods via our GP). She did another scan which revealed I was probably about to ovulate (I'd had some ewcm this week so suspected!). Bottom line is she thinks my cycles are coming back to normal but once all the tests are back if things haven't improved they will talk to us about clomid or injections.

She didn't force us to pay for anything we didn't need and they seem happy to write to our GP for the tests we can get on the NHS.

Any questions give me a shout! Smile

CatMum87 · 13/01/2017 14:58

purplek1tty – so glad to hear that you had a positive experience at the clinic. Seems like you’ve walked away with a clearer idea of where things are hearing and what can be done if needs be!

Bonus about the scan revealing that you’re about to ovulate………..at least you now know that is happening!

Do you feel much more hopeful now?! It definitely seems like it was worth doing? How did you go about finding them?

purplek1tty · 13/01/2017 16:21

Hi CatMum, yes much more hopeful. I think there is just something about just doing something constructive to help the situation.

There are only two big clinics in my wider area and I spoke to both after a bit of googling.

How are things with you? Any progress?

MoonlightMojitos · 13/01/2017 19:10

Hello ladies, sorry I haven't had a chance to catch up properly so sorry I don't have time to go back and see how everyone is doing but but just wanted to quickly check in after my 20 week scan today and let you all know it's a boy!

Hope you're all doing well. Any BFPs lately that I've missed? How is everyone getting on?

Purpleviola14 · 14/01/2017 08:04

Hi ladies,
Thanks for the info purplek1tty, it sounds as if she was really helpful. Do you feel better and more proactive? What is AMH test? If you need clomid will they prescribe you it or can you get it through your gp?

Catmum thanks yeah I'm gutted it had to come to this but happy things are moving forward. How are things with you? I'm just at the beginning of my cycle and going to try dtd every other day from day 9 as that's meant to be good for low sperm. Also got the Zeta west book so going to try some healthy pregnancy recipes x

Purpleviola14 · 14/01/2017 08:05

Also moonlight hey! Congrats on your little boy! How are things going?

OnNaturesCourse · 14/01/2017 12:07

congratulations - little boy!!

I really struggle to keep up with all the posts so sorry if I've missed any other news!

I'm currently 4dpo, boobs aching and belly feeling on/off crampy, AF due in approx 6 days but everything feels dull n heavy so suspect it may arrive early Envy

baby dust to all, keep dtd xx

purplek1tty · 14/01/2017 18:23

Hi Viola,

AMH is the test for your ovarian reserve and a good indicator of your fertility, so I'm pleased to be getting this one, hoping it will reassure us there is still plenty of time!

Not sure whether they can ask for the GP to prescribe Clomid. We'll cross that bridge when it comes to it I guess.

How have you found your GP in terms of help and tests? How long have you been trying?

Seven0fNine · 14/01/2017 18:40

Hey moonlight so nice to hear from you! That is brilliant news that you are having a boy! I can't believe you're 20 weeks!?!? I hope pregnancy is treating you well!

No bfps here for a few weeks...I think Mouse was the last one so we are definitely due some!!

CD11 here and although I was excited about my AF lasting longer this month I'm now slightly concerned as I'm still getting spotting each day... Anyone had that before?

MishyBakes · 14/01/2017 18:55

Just thought is check in and say hello! Congrats moonlight, my goodness, those 20 weeks have gone quickly, officially over the halfway point. Kitty, I'm glad you're getting help, I'm sorry it's come to that though.

I'm on cycle 9 now, never even a hint of a BFP. Starting to lose faith that this will ever happen. Reading all your posts is especially helpful, I'm so glad to be a part of this board!

Purpleviola14 · 15/01/2017 10:49

K1tty I've been trying since last february, my gp has actually been really good and is going to refer us this year if nothing happens. Wonder if she will agree to amh test, that would be really handy to know. How about you?

Mishy how are you lovely? I am on cycle 9 too and 8dpo, feeling very much the same as you. Been feeling on a bit of a downer these past few months. Seems so unfair doesn't it?

MishyBakes · 15/01/2017 13:25

Sorry you're in the same boat purple, most days are fine but then there are a handful where I have a wobble and I feel miserable about it all. I think we are cycle buddies, as I'm 7dpo as well (estimating). How are you doing? I never thought we'd be one of the lucky "caught first time" couples, but the 12 month mark fast approaching has made me worry. Like you my GP has said she'll refer us (she's been wonderful). In the meantime I'm on orlistat to help get my BMI down, so even if that doesn't help, I at least get to feel better about myself. Lots of love and 🍷and 🌺 x

Purpleviola14 · 15/01/2017 14:04

Oh Mishy sorry to hear you're feeling like that too, it's nice to have a cycle buddy Smile yeah I expected I needed to be patient but when we hit the 7 month mark I started to get fed up. Sounds like you have a good go too. What is orlistat? My BMI is high too, have been trying to eat better and exercise as I don't want them to turn me away when we get referred and say 'come back when you've lost weight' I'm not sure what the acceptable BMI is for referral. I feel like this should be an exciting time for us not a never ending cycle of dissaointment. Hugs Flowersxox

MishyBakes · 15/01/2017 15:02

I have a feeling it's a BMI below 30 for clomid and IVF, but don't quote me on that. I was doing well with exercise until the beginning of December when I fractured my ankle. After that I though "fuck it, I've been trying so hard on my own, now I'm happy to accept help". Orlistat inhibits the enzyme that break down fat, so around 30% of dietary fat won't be absorbed. I am noticing a difference, it's speeding up weight loss so that's encouraging. I have to stop the destructive thought pattern that it has to be my weight that's the problem, that I don't deserve to be pregnant, and that this is all my fault. It doesn't help or change things.

One of my friends is 7 months pg and often asks me how we're getting on (she knows we are ttc). I had to tell her I was no longer hopeful as I was fed up of being heartbroken each month. It's too much sometimes. I don't think she knew how to react, and I felt even more awful. I'm sure you and I will be okay and manage, whatever happens, sometimes just talking about things makes it more bearable x

Purpleviola14 · 15/01/2017 15:29

Absolutely, being able to talk on here makes it so much easier, otherwise I think I'd go insane. I have often been paranoid about my weight, luckily my gp has never made me feel like that, but I often blame myself and feel like my situation could be improved if only I lost more weight. But then there are bigger women than me falling pregnant so easily at work. And my OH blames himself due to low motility, but I have never blamed him.
my hubbys best friends gf is pg, due in March, we are happy for them, but it's hard not to withdraw from our social lives with them cos of the constant reminder of being asked how we are getting on with it.
I'm sure we will be ok, we just need a little bit of luck on our side Wink I'll work out how to pm youxx

purplek1tty · 16/01/2017 09:21

Morning Ladies,

I have been trying since April last year, although am only on my third cycle in this time, which is obviously a problem!

Purple and Mishy, it's great that you are trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle, this is obviously important when trying to get pregnant.

However, please don't beat yourselves up over your BMI. Women of all different sizes conceive and there is nothing to suggest your BMI has anything to do with your current situation.

Out of my friends who have become mothers, they range from size 8 through to size 20, there really is no rhyme or reason to these things sometimes. In fact, I was an avid runner up until about September when I discovered that the mileage I was putting in may have an adverse affect on my cycles. You literally can't win sometimes!

Try and stay positive and not to blame yourselves, it won't help the situation.

CatMum87 · 16/01/2017 15:35

purplek1tty - I’m on CD 31 today………think I may have ovulated around day 28 going by my ‘usual’ ……..however as well as super erratic cycles I think I also have a really short luteal phase based on previous cycles. Around 4/5 days which is pretty pathetic :s. However the acupuncturist said there are things we can try to lengthen it so fingers crossed!

Totally with you on the whole weight/conception business! Woman of all shapes and sizes have happy healthy pregnancies. I too am a bit of a runner/into my workouts, however I’ve also cut back in that I no longer typically do any long distance stuff thinking that this may help the situation. Who knows eh!!! Have you totally stopped running??

purplek1tty, Purpleviola14- seems like you’ve both got supportive GP’s. Its definitely making me feel a bit more positive about going back to mine and trying to move things on further.

Congratulations MoonlightMojitos,a little boy 

KittyKat73 · 16/01/2017 16:01

Hey ladies!

Noticed a few people have been recently discussing their GP, I Was just wondering how long did you wait or what was the turning point for you to make an appointment with your GP to help with TTC. ?

Im currently on CD 46 Angry this is pretty unusual for me i came off the pill in june and my first proper cycle was 42 days and since then every month its gotten shorter. the cycle before this one was 32 days. I did have a few days of blood stained discharge on cd 19 for 4/5 days which iv never had before begining to wonder if that was a weird light early AF and im on another cycle. ( sorry if i sound repetitive i know i mentioned this before but thought i better say again since there's so mange messages on here).

I bought ovulation sticks and planned to use them once i get my AF ( once i find it!!) but starting to think i should maybe contact my gp incase theres something underlying going on with me.

and of course to top everything else off within the past week iv been told about 2 more pregnancies Envy Sad

purplek1tty · 16/01/2017 16:20

Hi CatMum and KittyKat (anyone noticed how many cat-related names there are on here!)

CatMum I'm on CD30 and I think I ovulated on day 28. So we're not far apart! My LP is a little short too at around 10 days. Great that acupuncturist is able to help you with yours. I would definitely mention this your GP though. There are things that they can do to help.

I have swapped running for walking. I was running and cycling 50-60 miles per week towards the end of the summer and decided that I needed to be proactive in trying to get my cycles back. Running can be a cause for some, so I didn't want to risk it. I have put on a few pounds though!

KittyKat my turning point was 3months + with no sign of a period, so a bit different to you. I did ask my GP surgery for a sympathetic female Dr when I booked though which was really helpful. Although not massively knowledgeable she has taken me seriously.
