Thank you Shoney. I am waiting delivery on OPK's and have been tracking on my calender. I think I will start tracking my temperature too. If I dont get AF in a couple of weeks when I think I am due, I will get some AC. Did you use AC, did it help and what does it do?

It is so frustrating, I am quite shocked by some of the stories regarding how long it takes for a proper menstryation cycle to return!! But also encouraged by everyones success stories :-)

OnNaturesCourse · 08/01/2017 21:03

shh well we are very similar. I'm 27 TTC #1 - came off pill on 25th my withdraw bleed ended 27th however... I missed four pills just before stopping so my withdraw bleed was actually from that. It had already started by the 25th. So I've given my body a right hard time with the hormones. Oops.

Going by the withdraw bleed I'm CD 17 but going from my previous (correct) bleed I'm CD 30.

Previous to BC I was about 3.5 - 4 weeks bleed free so not too far out atm but... Yeah, my brain assumes the worst!

We can hold each others hand through this!

Sshsecretenclosed · 08/01/2017 21:08

It's great to have someone going through near on the same!! We can do this

OnNaturesCourse · 08/01/2017 21:12

Fingers crossed and lots of baby dust to us both!!

Keep us updated with how you get on xxx

MouseLove · 08/01/2017 21:24

Natures. Sounds like the kinda temps I was getting. Seems normal post pill. Have you had your thyroid checked? I wouldn't worry at all. Give it a few cycles and see how you average out. You might have more joy with the opk when you're feeling better. Hope that's soon. X

OnNaturesCourse · 09/01/2017 00:12

Mouse ... No I've not. I actually looked up the symptoms etc earlier today having read about it on here but I've always been a cold person. I can be blue under a duvet while wearing a onesie and slippers. Remember the coldness from childhood too.

If it gets worse or I get other symptoms I'll get it checked out.

Just concerned my naturally low temp will impact us TTC. Never thought about it until now.

I'm really using the temps n ovulation kits to try get to know my body a bit better ATM firstly, the TTC is kinda a background hope... If that makes sense? Once I know my body better I'll focus on TTC more.

Thanks, I'm currently signed off with a serious UTI but it's starting to clear xx

OnNaturesCourse · 09/01/2017 00:39

It's like... How cold can you go lol.

MouseLove · 09/01/2017 08:45

I didn't have any symptoms at all. Just coldness. I was diagnosed slightly hyperthyroid which is the opposite of what I thought. You might have something hindering your circulation which is why your cold. Worth getting checked now and knowing where you stand when you start TTC properly. X

Redpony1 · 09/01/2017 09:43

My thermometer should arrive today, which will be easier to do than OPK's because that requires a level of dehydration I can't do because i exercise regularly and get stiches/headaches if i don't drink lots!

How often & what times should i be taking temps? & where's the best place on me to get the best reading? Blush I feel like a total novice!!

34 days post pill for me now...

OnNaturesCourse · 09/01/2017 10:27

I'll definitely keep a eye on it mouse 🙂 I'm tracking my temp now but only for a week or so, be good to have some data when I'm next at my GP x

Piehunter · 09/01/2017 11:11

For those who can't do cheap opk's the more expensive clearblue ones you pee on first thing in the morning (normal ones you can't) which might work better? I really really don't think it's worth using them until you've had your first period though, you'll drive yourselves mad! Plenty of time for peeing on all the sticks in the coming months.

I'm on cycle 7/month 8 after coming off cerazette/cerelle (and was a very lucky one who returned to regular cycles straight away, no withdrawal bleed just a period 28 days after coming off it) and not a hint of a bfp yet, some people do fall a lot quicker but it's not a given whether you've come off the pill or not.

For those just starting to ttc, gp's don't tend to be overly enthusiastic about opks and temping especially at the start as they feel it puts pressure on you, so don't be surprised if presenting data to them gets you told to relax!

I don't temp but you should do it first thing in the morning, whilst still lying down, before you've moved. Ideally same time each day and you need to have relatively unbroken sleep for it to work.

MouseLove · 09/01/2017 12:44

Redpony you ideally need to take your temp at the same time each morning when you wake and as soon as you wake. Do not move out of bed. Be very still and you it should be immediately as you wake after constant sleep for at least 3-4 hours. I had my thermometer by the bed. Don't start till next cycle though. After a few cycles you'll have a handle on if you're ovulating or not. Good luck.

KittyKat73 · 09/01/2017 16:43

Hi Everyone Newbie here :)
(so new i don't know a lot of the abbreviations! sorry)

I'm 28 no children and never been pregnant. Been on microgynan 30 for 12 years. Took my last pill in June 2016 and cycles have been erratic ever since.

First real AF took 42 days to appear, each month it got shorter until last cycle it was 31 days so got my hopes up thinking everything was beginning to become normal ( Had 5 real AFs since stopped the pill) However this Cycle is on day 39 and counting. On day 19 I did have weird blood stained discharge that lasted several days which i have never had before i am beginning to wonder if it was AF and im on a new cycle or if it was something else. Did a test this morning and BFN!.

I have bought clear blue ovulation test strips and from reading past comments im going to start using them on the first day my AF stops. Never used any type of ovulation kit before so hoping it clear up when im ovulating.

Feeling really fed up and deflated doesn't help that EVERYONE i know on facebook and friends seems to becoming pregnant right now. Been googling looking for advice and people in similar situations and stumbled upon this website and thread.

Hoping this year will be successful for everyone on here :) lots of positive thinking!

Purpleviola14 · 09/01/2017 17:14

Hi KittyKat, welcome to the thread, I'm fairly similar to you, I'm 29, last pill in March last year, I was on microgynon for 8 years then cerelle for 2, my cycles were 75 days, then they moved to 31, 32 days and more recently they're 28 so settling down.

Are you tracking? The blood stained discharge could have been attempted ovulation? Using your opks will be a huge help.
I'm totally with you on the everyone getting pregnant thing, I think it's our age! I've actually deleted my social media to get a break from it! X

KittyKat73 · 09/01/2017 17:26

Hey Purpleviola!

No i havent been tracking before now i thought "oh if i DTD at least when i think im ovulation that will be enough Hmm " Bit silly of me! lol. Always thought it would be easy and i would be one of those people that get pregnant straight away.

I think im on the verge of deleting social media! but your right about the age thing I suppose i should look at it as hopefully it will be me annoying everyone with updates soon enough [Smile]

thats good to hear that your cycles did reduce and settle down. Suppose it takes time but just really frustrating. We will get there!

Purpleviola14 · 09/01/2017 17:42

Haha yep Kitty we will both be super annoying, we've put up with enough of it. Time just drags so slowly when you're counting the months.
I would really advise tracking, also taking charge of your fertility is a really good read, it helped me to stop being impatient and paranoid and understand my body a lot more.
Have you had any tests done yet? You can go and ask for some even though you're not at the Year point yet. I'm so glad we did as it helped save time and identify problems with hubbys sa, so we know we will be looking at ivf this year if nothing happens in the mean time.x

KittyKat73 · 09/01/2017 19:30

Hey Purpleviola

Ohh thanks very much for the advice :) i think ill definitely get the book as i am feeling like im now counting days and waiting impatiently for next cycles to start.

Thats a good idea about the tests, as I have just been assuming everything is fine and missing ovulation times ( which could be possible since the cycles are all so different) but some months im like ..... really still nothing after all that! lol!.

Hope everything naturally falls into place for you before then but at least you have a plan in place for IVF instead of waiting the full year to get to the point your at now :) x x

Seven0fNine · 10/01/2017 21:03

Evening lovelies,

CD 7 here and oddly happy as I am still spotting (gross) from af which I feel is good because I remember before I went on the pill my af would linger for a week so fx fx fx this is the start of being "back to normal" Got the OPK's at the ready and feeling positive.
DH has been going on about ttc loads recently, it's so lovely to be able to talk to him about it but also glad I have this forum to chat to as I've managed not to put him off the idea! ha!

Hope everyone else is OK today! x

MrsFish13 · 10/01/2017 23:27

Hi Seven,
so pleased you are feeling positive :-)
I wrote a post earlier, but it doesnt seem to have come up on the board - strange. I have recieved my OPK's through the post now, typically after days of cramps and pains they have now stopped, if I am lucky I may have had multiple ovulations, but Mr has been away with work, so timings havent been great. i think i am entering my 2ww now, even though i didnt have a full af last month I am still keeping positive :-)

Sshsecretenclosed · 11/01/2017 06:58

First cycle off pill and used clear blue dual hormone OPKs - know I should have resisted. Today, it's gone from low fertility to high. Yesterday had a little bit of stretchy discharge. Could it be my body is doing something!!?!

Shoney85 · 11/01/2017 07:56

Sounds like it. Get going with the deed

CatMum87 · 11/01/2017 10:33

purplek1tty – my cycles certainly are wacky!! I’ve been seeing a lady in the Manchester area for acupuncture and it £45 a session. It’s expensive and probably not something I can keep up for ever if I’m going every week but she says that once a week is necessary initially so she can get to know my cycles then we can look at going in at certain times of the month. I am not entirely sure how it works……but I’ve had about 6 sessions now and in that I had a 28 day cycle, although this cycle looks like it’s going to be longer!

Purpleviola14- that’s great how helpful your acupuncturist was! It really does help just to be able to talk about it doesn’t it….my OH is wonderful but typical man he doesn’t quite understand sometimes. I also find it quite relaxing and when the needles go in its I’ve felt some odd sensations! Only downside for me is the cost……but at the minute it makes me feel like I am being pro-active! Let me know how you get on, are you going weekly?!

purplek1tty · 11/01/2017 10:51

Thanks CatMum - it is definitely something I will consider! What CD are you on?

I'm on CD26 and no signs of ovulation, so looks like I'm in it for the long-haul again. We decided last week to book a private consultation at a fertility clinic with a view to hopefully getting prescribed Clomid. 2 periods in 9 months feels like the more extreme end of this post-pill madness, and I'm not going to get a 'normal' cycle any time soon. And at 33 I haven't got lots of time on my side.

Anyone have any experience of private treatment they would be willing to share? The appointment is tomorrow! Eek!

CatMum87 · 11/01/2017 11:46

purplek1tty - snap I am also on CD 26 although I have been having signs of ov for over a week...likes its gearing up but not quite making it happen!!

Oooh I'd be very interested to hear how you get on with the private fertility clinic. 2 periods in 9 months I feel your pain. I was at the same point as you at that stage, now 13 months post pill i have had 5 periods but things just aren't quite right. Hopefully you'll have nothing to worry about and its just your body taking longer to adjust, but in way i feel that myself if there was a reason for the lack of periods i might be able to get my head around it a bit more, if that makes sense!!

Being really cheeky- can I ask how much the private consultation is costing and how you went about arranging it? I had bloods done at the doctors last april which came back normal but i'm thinking of going back and pushing things on. I am turning 30 this year and everyone i know already has kids!

purplek1tty · 11/01/2017 12:26

Hi CatMum!

Not Cheeky at all. I'd been trying to find similar information from others which is why I finally plucked up the courage to join a discussion.

We have booked a consultation with a big clinic in the Midlands fairly near to where we live. They take self referrals but some clinic do need a referral from a GP (not sure why it differs). The consultation costs £150, all tests etc are on top.

I have had normal bloods x 2 and a clear internal ultrasound (I managed to get the results printed from my GP to take with me tomorrow) but would like to rule out other things. I spoke to a nurse from the clinic on the phone who completely agreed that 2 periods in 9 months is no good if you're ttc and perhaps I just need a helping hand to ovulate - barring no other problems.

We are by no means rolling in ££ but I am willing to use some of our savings (for a house!) to hopefully rule out any major problems and give us a chance to try properly! We both 100% agree that starting our family is more important than being homeowners!

Knowing that I could have had a baby in the time I've been waiting for my periods to sort themselves out was the straw that broke the camel's back really, and pushed us to look at private.

At 33, I am just a bit worried that my periods will take months to regulate and if we then still struggle to get a BFP, we are both older and further away from this. I think I need to put my mind at ease.

CatMum how have you coped over the 13 months? You mentioned talking to the acupuncturist and your DH. Do you have any other support?
