Morning everyone...hope you're having a good day! Beautiful morning here! Though the mail would be back on today...but I'm guessing not. Have tests coming, maybe tomorrow. Like to test before AF then I'm not so disappointed when it arrives!

Hi Pooger, Bumple, and Clara, think we're all around the same age! Smile

Alibaba2 · 27/12/2016 21:55

That's a good idea Tober, I never test unless I think I actually am. Good idea to test before AF comes to be prepared. I have got my hopes up a few times only to be gutted when AF arrives.

Today was ok. Had a minor crisis with the food shopping which turned out to be ok. Trying to put on a brave face and be sociable with inlaws. Roll on ov time!

Anything exciting happening for the rest of you this week?

Tober/Pooger - you're about to test?

Fuzzy - hope AF doesn't arrive

Cthul - will you do another IUI on the cycle after this one?

City - how's everything with you? Flowers

Bumple - what are your plans?

Ababs - are you in the nice positive part of the cycle?

Pies - how are you feeling in the TWW?

Alibaba2 · 28/12/2016 10:19

Out of interest, do any of you take baby aspirin?

MrFuzzyGreen · 28/12/2016 10:55

I do Ali. It was prescribed by the recurrent miscarriage clinic, along with high dose folic acid. Been taking it for about a month now.

tobermory29 · 28/12/2016 11:41

Yea I'm testing today Ali Tests just arrived in the post so missed fmu but will do one this afternoon then tomorrow morning if no AF by then. Not expecting anything, never do anymore. Was 2 weeks late a few months back and despite repeated bfn was convinced I was pregnant...why else would I be so late...but no, the tests were correct, so since then I've just been resigned to the fact it's unlikely to happen...but still hold out that little bit of hope that it just might! Hmm

tobermory29 · 28/12/2016 16:25

Oh well...as predicted!

Clara101 · 28/12/2016 20:09

Oh sorry to hear that Tober , it's so disappointing. Hope you can have Wine, Cake or Brew and a silly Xmas movie tonight. Roll on 2017...

Well done on inlaws day Ali...

Pooger · 29/12/2016 00:05

Hi my period should be due between the 30th and the 1st. Rather varied length in cycle. Feel like it is coming on though which is a shame since hubby and I got it spot on this month. :(

Just a quick question. The women here seem to have a lot of knowledge... Has anyone been told by an actual doctor whether the length of your lp actually matters? I read something in a message on here and I have read about it on the internet before just not sure whether this is just internet truth or actual medicine? I understand it to be the time between your ovulation and the first day of your next period. Anyway, my lp is very short since I ovulate dramatically late in my cycle. Dont know whether I have always done so or whether it is a more recent development. When trying to conceive DC2 we tried for about a year with no luck until I used some ovulation sticks to discover we were having sex way at the wrong time of the month i.e. When the average woman ovulates. I actually ovulate about lh surge every month ten days before the first day of my next period. Which I think means my lp is 9 days. After discovering that and having sex on the right day I fell pregnant within two months. (Made me feel rather angry about the year I had wasted) this time round we thought we just have sex and c what happens which as it turns out is nothing. So this cycle I used some sticks again and I still get the surge ten days before AF is due. So my body is still doing the same as it was doing six years ago... This makes me think I have probabky always done that. And it raises the question whether it actually matters because I still conceive.....

Alibaba2 · 29/12/2016 07:56

Hi Pooger.

Hope AF isn't coming.

What cycle day do you normally ovulate on? Have you thought about temping to confirm ov? But of a faff but quite useful.

Do you use opks from when AF finishes as I found I got a second LH surge a week after the first which is quite common?

If you do have a short luteal phase, there are things you can do to improve it.

Cthulhoo · 29/12/2016 09:28

MrFuzzyGreen I'm not actually sure how long my LP is. I initially thought it was quite short, judging from when the ovulation test sticks would indicate ovulation. Then blood tests seemed to suggest that ovulation is a few days earlier (god knows why testing sticks and blood tests don't agree), so I assumed I had a normal LP. But early AF this cycle would either mean they got the ovulation date wrong despite blood tests, or I had a shorter than usual LP. Ah well.

Alibaba Yes, I'll be doing another one or two IUI rounds before moving on to IVF. It won't be this cycle as the timing with New Year's Eve just won't work out, but hopefully the cycle after that.

Welcome Pooger, Tober and anyone else I might have missed.

Pooger · 29/12/2016 13:50

Hi not sure what an opks is.....my cycle is on average 26 days although as recently it has been closer to 28. I used sticks every day of my cycle until detecting lh surge. I did this for two months when trying for DC2 and now i have done this this month and each time it is detected ten days before first day of af. Ie. If cycle is 28 days, lh surge is detected on day 18. Has anyone actually been told by a doctor that the length of this lp actually matters? When I conceived DC2 the scans confirmed late ovulation but midwife said that this did not matter at all. It just matters that u ovulate.

MissyJones83 · 29/12/2016 14:04

Hi pooger I think I have a short lp too. Only just trying for a couple of months now but noticed this month and last that I get mid pains about day 20. Let me know how you get on. My next af is in a few days so I'm going to start to track my temp next month to see for sure.

Alibaba2 · 29/12/2016 15:13

As long as the luteal phase is 10 days or over, that's fine. And obvs didn't stop you conceiving before Pooger.

Pooger · 29/12/2016 20:45

I am due af between 30-1. We could be cycle buddies! missyjones83

MissyJones83 · 29/12/2016 21:05

Sure pooger let me know if you are testing or just waiting. I think I'm going to wait until at least Monday if af has not arrived yet to test.

Clara101 · 30/12/2016 21:05

Evening all and good luck Pooger and Missy Jones for the next few days.

I'm on cd16 and had progesterone tested today. The result was around 6 which I think is lower than needed to support a pgy ?10-20. I'm somewhere between 1 and 4 dpo.

Will see doc in Jan but does anyone know how much of a dead end that is. Are lower progesterone levels in luteal phase age related and is there anything you can do abt it?

When I had mc last month at 6 weeks progesterone was also low - around 2.2.

Thank you ladies..

Sending everyone best of luck for 2017.

Alibaba2 · 30/12/2016 21:11

Hi Clara!

Was it intentional to test progesterone just after ov as it's normally tested 7 days before AF?

I'll check my results - as it gave the normal range but mine was done at the peak of the cycle.

Clara101 · 30/12/2016 21:28

Thanks Ali.. You are right just realised doc said test between cd19 and 22. For some reason I had cd16-20 in my head.. Will go again next week.

Result sheet says normal range for LP is 1.2-15.9 micro g/l but I'm sure doc said 10-20 needed to sustain pg.

Maybe mine still need to go up if not enough dpo..

Hope everyone else is ok

Alibaba2 · 30/12/2016 22:07

I just checked mine and it's measured in nmol/l so I guess it's not comparable to yours.

eggcup · 30/12/2016 22:44

Hello, can I join? I'm 46, have 2 dc, just had mc3...my mc to baby ratio is sliding 😕
Latest bfp was a complete surprise (I thought menopause!) but made me realise how much I do want dc3.... I want to get on with ttc but dp isn't sure. He would love another dc, but is too worried about mc happening again.
I hate how bothered I am by my age, even though I'm healthy and in reasonable condition (!) I feel like I shouldn't be wanting another child now. In other parts of the world it's totally normal for women to continue having children until menopause. Why is it that our society expects us to stop well before that? I wish I could feel more confident and not care about what other people think..
Anyway, rant over. Fingers crossed for all of you, and hopefully I will get back on the horse soon! xx

tobermory29 · 30/12/2016 23:12

Welcome eggcup I'm the same as you. Adult children, age 44, and thinking I shouldn't be wanting to have a child. But I do. I feel as if I'm doing something wrong. I can't stop thinking about my age and feeling I'm being selfish. I think this relates to the fact I have lost a lot of people recently and I'm having some sort of mid-life crisis about death! Not to depress everyone. Anyway, just posted to say I relate. Sorry about your mc's, must be difficult Flowers

Pooger · 31/12/2016 16:05

I am being extremely premenstral here. Af has not turned up yet but should be due latest tomorrow. How are you doing MissJones83?

Alibaba2 · 31/12/2016 16:53

Good luck Pooger.

Just wanted to wish you all a fabulous 2017!

We can do this, we all have it in us! Let's not get bogged down with age and statistics. Believe in yourselves and let's make this happen!

SmileSmileSmile

MissyJones83 · 31/12/2016 17:00

Hi pooger exactly the same as you totally feeling like AF but nothing yet. Did a FRER and got BFN this morning though so not got high hopes!

Totally just realised I gatecrashed this Board as I am under 40 sorry guys.

pooger keep in touch!

ababsurdum · 31/12/2016 19:13

Pooger I am 44, soon to be 45, and ttc #2. Started trying August last year and conceived straight away but sadly had a mmc at 10 weeks. We've been trying again for a year now and nothing.

Fuzzy any news from you? Your DF was very insensitive, I don't blame you for being upset. I hope he has since apologised. What did the egg donor Mum have to say about the experience? I would be interested to hear.

citybumpkin sorry for the loss of your ddog. They are part of the family so it's always hard Flowers

Cthulhoo sorry about AF. I hope the next round works for you. It's so frustrating isn't it?

I've read that a LP of less than 10 days is problematic, implantation occurs 6-10 dpo. I'm sure some people do conceive but perhaps worth checking with a gp.
