Shiny new thread. Here's the link to the previous one.

Hi Cthul, oh poo, what a shame.

It definitely sounds like a CP. I presume they were testing HGC (and perhaps progesterone). And who knows, maybe it's not your first CP. So it was close.

Difficult call as to what to do next.

When you say "overall values were good enough" - do you mean bloods?

I wish there was a test for egg quality or something to better determine our chances...

ababsurdum · 08/02/2017 18:06

Alibaba2 that's the holy grail isn't it! There probably will be one day but not soon enough to help me.

Hi Alibaba2 yes, I meant bloods. They did bloods and an ultrasound, and I previously had a hysterosalpingogram and that was fine, too. Money-wise I'd like to try IUIs again but if the consultant thinks we should switch to IVF then that's what we're going to do.

I'm so sorry chtul Flowers

I was wondering if anyone takes co q10?

I've seriously considered trying it before anyway as I do have a tendency to fatigue anyway, but it seems it's not worth it unless v expensive?

Any brand recommendations?

Alibaba2 · 12/02/2017 12:03

Hello Violet,

I take ubiquinol which is concentrated q10. I feel really healthy but take so many supplements I don't know what is doing what!

I buy this one:

Ubiquinol 100mg 120 Softgels EAF CoQ10 (Enhanced Absorption Formula Coenzyme Q10 as Kaneka QH) https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CLSFE3W/ref=cmswwrcppapi_f7eOyb4KCGBJ8

But there was a thread about ubiquinol recently and someone posted an offer and it was much cheaper.

booox · 12/02/2017 13:45

Thanks Ali, how many do you take a day?

Alibaba2 · 12/02/2017 14:15

I take 2 a day. You have to take them with a meal as they are fat-soluble.

Hi I've been lurking for a while. I'm probably one of the oldest on here at 48. I have 3 grown children (25, 23 & 20) from my previous marriage and am currently ttc with my new partner. He is considerably younger than me (34) and doesn't have any children of his own.
I came off the pill at the beginning of last November and after horrific withdrawal symptoms my cycle has finally settled to my usual 28days. I have been taking folic acid each day since November and have stopped drinking alcohol.
I am fully aware that the chances of conceiving naturally or even with ivf is very low because of my age, but it is not unheard of. I am also fully aware that the MC rate is 1:1 and having previously had 2 MC before and between my children I know what this is like as well 😔
AF is due on Saturday, and today I have been feeling really nauseous which is only settled when I have something to eat! Very likely to be a coincidence, but who knows!
Is there anyone else on here that is around my age?

MattsMamma · 15/02/2017 18:02

Hello JELLY Smile. I am 47 and I must say it's lovely to see someone similar age. I am currently just entering the tww again. I had a BFP in October but sadly it was a chemical my third in 2 years but it does give me a little hope that things are still functioning in that dept and my periods are pretty regular. I always try and remain hopeful but it is so hard sometimes! Your nausea sounds good! Keeping everything crossed for you. I'm not a regular poster but am always lurking Smile. Good luck JELLY x. Hello to everyone else

Alibaba2 · 18/02/2017 15:17

Ladies, I need your expert help...

I'm a very regular 13-14 day luteal phase and today is 18dpo and still no AF. I know I'm not pg as I've tested twice and started spotting yesterday.

I was having pg symptoms (which could have also been progesterone symptoms): feverish, needing to wee a lot, flushed cheeks, generally feeling odd, sore boobs (which I haven't had since last pg).

I wa shocked to see the BFN but now symptoms have gone and I'm spotting (brown discharge).

But WTF is going on? If it was a CP, I would have had a BFP (although only tested with IC at 16dpo and 17dpo).

Could this be caused by the B6 I'm taking (50mg plus Pregnacare)?

Part of me just wants to give up all the supplements!

Welcome Jelly and Matts btw and good luck!

MrFuzzyGreen · 18/02/2017 17:09

Hi Ali. I've had 2 CPs. The second one was very short. I had a squinter at 12dpo, a BFP at 14dpo, back to BFN the very next day. The spotting started 2 days later. So you could have had a CP but sometimes the BFP will come and go in a matter of days. If I had tested at 16dpo, or used an IC instead of a FRER, I would never have known.

cuddlymunchkin · 18/02/2017 17:20

Hi Everyone, I am just about to start ttc at the age of 40 ( nearly 41) with my partner who is 49. I have a daughter from my previous relationship. I think the first few cycles I will try and work out when ovulation is happening and take it from there! Anyone else here with an older partner?

MrFuzzyGreen · 18/02/2017 17:44

Hi Cuddly! My hubby is 53, and I'm 42. He's had plenty of tests and his age doesn't seem to be a problem at all! Good luck xx

Alibaba2 · 18/02/2017 17:57

Thanks Fuzzy.

So First Responses are the tests to get? I'll get some in. I wonder how many CPs I've had without even realising. Definitely felt something this cycle. Poo.

How's everything with you?

Clara101 · 18/02/2017 18:28

Welcome Jelly, Matts and Cuddly, good to have you here! Good luck for tww Matts and Jelly xx

Ali, sorry for disappointment.... ;-( Sounds like Fuzzy is right and maybe a CP. I think you temp sometimes? If you do next few days and see if temps are above your normal cover line or not that might help figure out? Hugs to you! Xx

Alibaba2 · 18/02/2017 19:39

Hi Clara, how are you getting on?

I've been abroad this week so haven't temped every day but temped the days I got the BFNs and temps were above the cover line. I haven't temped since as currently all my things are in a suitcase.

I reckon I'll get full flow tomorrow.

Ah well, at least something nearly happened I guess. Had a feeling as had no spotting or PMT and bigger boobs since around 9dpo.

Hope all is ok with you x

MrFuzzyGreen · 18/02/2017 19:45

Ali FRERs are definitely the most sensitive. ICs are pretty rubbish!

I'm ok, ta. I'm starting investigations with Serum in Athens. They want to do an infection test on my endometrium and an aquascan to find out if there's any other reason for my recurrent mcs, other than just egg quality. They have suggested that we consider another round of ivf with my eggs but with a more gentle protocol to maximise quality rather than quantity. I've had 3 mcs last year from natural conception, but didn't achieve one decent embryo out of 21 eggs in ivf, and the clinic director thinks that could be because they hit me with the maximum amount of stims both times. I had 50% immaturity both times, which would fit with her assessment. The tests and treatments are so cheap over there, we can afford to try and then go for donor eggs if all else fails. Wish me luck!

Alibaba2 · 18/02/2017 20:28

Sounds great Fuzzy. So good to get a different perspective and it sounds like they know what they're doing and have some good options. Fingers crossed for you.

I've been thinking that you fell pg so easily at 40 so nothing can have changed too dramatically since then in terms of egg quality. What they're saying makes sense.

Hope everything is going ok health wise for you too x

MrFuzzyGreen · 18/02/2017 20:39

That was her opinion too, Ali. She said that a woman who gave birth 2 years ago and conceived naturally 3 times just last year very easily isn't showing signs of being a complete barren, which was basically the message from both the recurrent miscarriage clinic AND Care. She's wondering if at least 1 or 2 of my mcs could have been caused by adhesions, scar tissue or infection. If they find anything they may prescribe antibiotics, perform a hysteroscopy and then recommend a few months of trying naturally before moving to ivf. When I asked Care why we hadn't got even one decent embryo when we'd clearly managed 3 naturally just months earlier, they just kept going on about my age. But it never sat comfortably with me, as my experience didn't match up with what they were saying. She was also very compassionate about Billy-Joe, which again was a big change from the consultant at Care. I'll keep you posted xxx

Alibaba2 · 18/02/2017 20:52

And I think when you hear negativity from the experts about age etc, it doesn't help. I recently read a book called The Fertile Female and it made so much sense to me. We are capable of doing this and we need self-belief to help us along. Not average statistics because everyone is different.

I also believe you can get good and bad batches of eggs and egg quality can get better even at our age.

It WILL happen.

Clara101 · 18/02/2017 21:07

Fuzzy, great that you have found someone good at Serum, what she is saying makes sense and so much difference to have someone compassionate. Wishing you lots of luck!

Alibaba2 · 19/02/2017 09:37

Cthul, have you decided what you will do next? Hopefully it will happen this cycle and you won't need any intervention.

AF arrived for me today. No major depression or PMT which is unusual.

Alibaba2 · 20/02/2017 12:47

Have any of you who've had CPs or suspected CPs noticed a different period afterwards? I'm on cd2 and just went to the loo (sorry for tmi), thick blood was pouring out plus clots and some tissue (not the paper kind). I felt very crampy before going to the loo and felt the clots/tissue come out. Just like the MC I had last year.

This isn't a normal period for me.

MrFuzzyGreen · 20/02/2017 13:44

Ali, my first one was lighter than usual, more like pink water than the usual type bleed. The second one, the following month, was exactly as you describe. I don't usually suffer with cramps, but that month they were so bad they were making me feel shaky & sick. The bleed was dark, heavy, clotty and went on for longer than normal. Sounds very much like a CP to me SadFlowers
