Hi been using some clearblue ovulation sticks for first time this month since starting ttc 1.5 yrs ago. As it turns out my cycle is rather odd just like it was when ttc dc2. For the past six mths my cycle has varied between 23 and 32 days. And after using the ovulation sticks all of this month and convincing myself that I was not ovulating, I got my happy face today. I am day 16 of what seems to average out as a 26 day cycle! I had the same ttc dc2. Think my body is taking the mickey. Either way at least I know now what I will be doing tonight. Fortunately, my husband who is working away from home, is home for Christmas tonight! Is it still recommended to have sex every two days or shall we just do it every day?

Alibaba2 · 21/12/2016 16:43

Hi Pooger, I have the same ov kit. We started dtd on the first smiley face and I got my flashing smiley the following day so dtd then too.

I would say eod during smiley but on the day of flashing smiley.

Good luck!

Alibaba2 · 21/12/2016 17:25

How are you feeling Cthul?

IAteSomeofthePies · 21/12/2016 17:44

Pooger I've always thought of every other day as a minimum over the relevant period of time, rather than a maximum. Have fun!

Cthulhoo · 22/12/2016 08:51

Alibaba 10 dpo and still in for this cycle. Sore breasts, occasionally dizzy, the odd twinges here and there, fatigue -- but all also plausible side effects of progesterone, so not particularly informative. I've bought a couple of FR tests and I'll test tomorrow.

Alibaba2 · 22/12/2016 08:56

Fingers crossed Cthul!!!!

ababsurdum · 22/12/2016 17:10

Sounds promising Cthulhoo best of luck to you Xmas Smile

Clara101 · 22/12/2016 17:47

Good luck Cthul and Pooger...! And you Ali, are you planning to test b4/after Xmas?

Alibaba2 · 22/12/2016 20:12

Hi Clara,

I'm not really a tester as I normally get spotting at 12dpo (or even sooner) so take that as a sign AF is coming. Discharge is already getting darker - more orangey at the moment.

Anyone else get this - spotting or discharge getting darker before AF?

I'm also fairly crampy once I get past cd21, it's almost as if the lower levels of progesterone make the lining start to breakdown. Is that possible so early?

So in short, not feeling it this cycle.

Alibaba2 · 22/12/2016 22:10

How have you been Clara?

Clara101 · 22/12/2016 22:47

Oh sorry to hear that Ali ;-(

Everyone different I guess but I don't get that, more AF arrives without too much warning aside fm a headache just before

I've been ok. Mc was pretty painless physically, more like a normal period, so better than I was expecting but if course disappointing!

MrFuzzyGreen · 22/12/2016 22:57

Ali since my last mc I've sometimes had spotting for a few days. Didn't used to. I get the odd cramp around 7dpo and then just a few mild ones before af, but some months it's been really awful. My CD21 progesterone was 31 a few months ago, which I think is fine so it can't be that. Also when I had IVF my lining was thick. So I don't think spotting or cramping is necessarily low prog. Xx

Pooger · 22/12/2016 23:22

So I have these advance ovulation sticks which measure two different hormones and give u a high fertility and peak fertility time. I know this sounds like I am a bit dumb but they confuse the hell out of me. Either way, i thought I detected high fertility yesterday but since the happy face has not disappeared it must have been peak fertility. So complicated. Either way, I appear to be ovulating which is good news. Also had lots if signs if ovulation this month (mucus, twitches, increased sex drive and even sensitive nipples). Could have told you I was ovulating without using the stick. Had sex last night. So timing perfect this month. However, it makes me wonder whether U was ovulating in the past few months because I did not notice any of this even though I used to in the past.... Hm makes me think....43 probably a tough time to conceive...

BumpleLeeds · 23/12/2016 04:58

Hi everyone! Hope it's okay to join you all?

So glad to find this thread. I'm 43 and ttc#2. My 1st was conceived by very happy accident 5 years ago, so i didn't go through the anxious rounds of trying and hoping to conceive. I'd always hoped to have another brother or sister for DS, but we were so busy being parents, changing jobs, moving house etc. that we put off trying for a 2nd child. It's only recently that we decided we'd better get on with it, and after a few months of trying and seeing no results it's dawning now that we were extremely lucky 1st time around. I'm going to have to up my game and start swotting up on all of this. Reading through other's posts I realise that there's a whole new language that I need to get to grips with - not sure what all the acronyms are at the moment!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello and let you know that I'm here. Will probably be lurking for a bit while I get my head around all the technical stuff!! Smile

Alibaba2 · 23/12/2016 07:53

Thanks Clara/Fuzzy. Strangely enough, the first time I noticed spotting (brown discharge, not blood), was our first cycle of ttc#3. I thought it might be IB (failed implantation obvs) but I guess it couldn't be that every time. I don't think I got spotting the cycle I fell pg. Then didn't get it for a while. Now it's returned (presuming I'll get some today, 12dpo same as last month).

Anyway, I have my ultrasound tomorrow.

Pooger, was the smiley flashing or static yesterday? You may have been ov'ing before but maybe you didn't notice the symptoms as much. I only get ewcm if I drink plenty of water. I always get cramps though during ov.

Welcome Bumple! There is a list of ttc acronyms somewhere on Mumsnet. You might be able to google it. TTC does easily get put on the back burner when life is busy. You know when it's the right time, just more of a challenge over 40. It's early days for you though. Do you get regular cycles and ewcm (egg-white cervical mucus)?! Are you able to pinpoint ovulation?

Good luck!

Cthulhoo · 23/12/2016 09:14

Sorry it didn't work this cycle Alibaba :(.
Welcome Bumple!
I tested this morning but no joy. It doesn't mean I'm out though, I'm not even late yet. If af doesn't turn up I'll test again in five or six days.

Alibaba2 · 23/12/2016 09:23

Hang on in there Cthul. My friend got a BFN at 11dpo, felt PMT, got a premenstrual spot then received a phone call from clinic to say her blood test showed HGC. She was on an ovulation tracking programme.

Cthulhoo · 23/12/2016 12:08

Thanks alibaba, that really gives me hope. Now have brown spotting which could be early enough to either be implantation spotting or early signs of period. Gah! Have to be patient and wait and see.

Alibaba2 · 23/12/2016 12:46

Do you normally get brown spotting?

Cthulhoo · 23/12/2016 16:41

Alibaba I do so it's not necessary a good sign :(

Alibaba2 · 23/12/2016 16:59

I'm obsessed with spotting and have read up a lot on it. Still don't fully understand it though. But I have read about people who normally spot still get spotting when they get a BFP. So you're not out yet. Keeping everything crossed for you.

Pooger · 23/12/2016 23:32

I used to notice when I was ovulating which makes me think that I probably have not been as of recently since I have not noticed anything up to this month. Just read the discussn about spotting... I had spotting i.e. Implantation bleed, with both my babies but it was always after my period was overdue. But that might be because I ovulate very late in my cycle. Well good timing for me this month, fingers crossed. Shall be testing around the 30th...

Cthulhoo · 24/12/2016 15:52

Spotting has become stronger and slight cramps now too so I'm thinking I'll be out for this cycle very soon now. And with a period earlier than usual so I didn't get to keep up hopes over Christmas. :(
