A place for all those trying for their first who didn't know their OPKs from their BBTs, their EWCM from their FRERs and everything in between before discovering Mumsnet!

If you're that glorious mix between excited about getting that elusive BFP and terrified - this is the place for you Smile

Thanks everyone, well since our wedding 4 months ago I've been waiting for something else to obsess and plan over anyway Wink

Monkeyandthebear · 03/10/2016 21:18

Eva I have done nothing different. Maybe being off work last week has
helped or the effects of jet lag have gone or holding an 8 week old most days last week has made my body realise that a baby is a good idea! I have never used Epo, but in the past have had a lot of ewcm it just isn't consistent every month and has been missing in action since starting TTC.

I am back to work tomorrow for 11 days in a row Sad so might need wine too, but should help the 2ww go a little quicker.

BusyNothings · 03/10/2016 21:57

Hi ladies am I allowed back into the treehouse? Been off mumsnet and everything for what seems like forever. Just been feeling really down and out of it and to top it off had a killer virus for the last fortnight. But felt like something was missing and thought I'd come say hello to you ladies! How's everyone getting on?!

Pyjamas81 · 03/10/2016 22:41

Ahhhhh busy! So good to see you Smile Sorry you've been feeling so rubbish though - are things looking up now?

Same old same old here with me - on cycle four now!

OP posts:
bassetmum · 04/10/2016 07:33

Hi busy well I'm on cycle two now so we will see where this one goes. I was expecting my flow to be a lot heavier for my first one post pill (ie like it was when I was a teenager) but its very similar to my withdrawal bleeds just a bit more red than brown (tmi sorry).

How is everyone else feeling?

BusyNothings · 04/10/2016 07:51

God I've lost track I think I'm on cycle 4? Must be surely. Not been tracking or anything for a good three weeks since I've been ill. Not much point doing temps when I've got a virus though!

Feels like it's taken forever and gone quick do you not think pj? To get to cycle 4?

bassetmum I know what you mean I was dreading mine when my implant came out but they've been odd.

Eva30 · 04/10/2016 09:59

Welcome back busy, sorry to hear it was getting you down. Nice to see you back here!
I am on cycle 6 now and although at times (2ww) I feel it has gone on forever I also can't believe we've been TTC for 6 months now!! On the whole that has gone super quick. I have my GP appointment tomorrow, I fully expect her to say come back in the new year but she might surprise me.

florafoxtrot · 04/10/2016 10:21

The time thing is weird. I feel like we've been trying for ages whereas its only been 3 months - and then I also can't believe its already October! We spoke about it/contemplated/planned starting to try though which I think might be part of the issue.
Spectacular fail on EOD last night as completely dried up... sorry for TMI... sorry... sorry! Would it be fair to say that probably means I'm not fertile anymore and can have a bloody break or not...? CD22
xx

MrsCW86 · 04/10/2016 13:22

I don't want to say I'm glad you got AF basset but I'm pleased your body has started working again so quickly after coming off the pill - hopefully a sign of speedy things to come!

Haha Seahawk you've just described ttc so perfectly! I haven't dtd once since getting my bfp Confused partly because I'm scared - I know sex isn't supposed to cause mc but my last one I started bleeding right after dtd and so now I'm paranoid!

Dixie how did you get on after your opk?

Mabel I got my bfp after 2 cycles at the end of last year and my DH looked like I'd just told him that I'd grown a third arm or something when I told him!

Sorry for AF Lisa - fx that you're trip away doesn't coincide with ov again!!

Welcome back flora, did you have a lovely holiday? I'm going to say that if everything's dried up you can definitely take a break from dtd!

Pjs I love that dry October has been downgraded four days in Grin hopefully work was better today and it was just a post holiday madness day!

Welcome MrsG! I'm going to put it out there and say that wedding obsessing pales in comparison to ttc obsessing!!

Fx for you monkey, hopefully your body has decided to play ball this month.

Mouse how's temping going?

Hi busy - three week virus sounds horrendous, hopefully you'll feel better soon! Have you been to the docs? Think there's definitely stuff going round...

What time is your appointment tomorrow Eva? Hopefully you'll have a nice gp - are you going to tell the truth about how long you've been ttc? I've read on some other boards that ladies have added a couple of months on so that they can get things going quicker?

Sorry if I've missed anyone, it's getting so busy here!

MrsCW86 · 04/10/2016 13:39

Moonlight! Sorry didn't mean to miss you off lovely, how you feeling? Has your cold cleared up?

Notyetthere · 04/10/2016 13:43

Eva - I am exactly like you, EWCM was always present until I started TTC! Absolutely nothing. Maybe it is there but I don't get to see it. Maybe I miss it or wipe it without realising. While I am on with TMI, Everyone seems to know the position of their cervix; whether it soft/closed/etc. I have never been able to reach that far. Or am I doing it wrong?

Busy welcome back to the mad house! Grin. Sorry to hear you weren't well. I am also just getting over a cold. It did not register with me to stop temping though. Doh. Now I understand why the graph did not follow the pattern I expected it too.

I would also have been on cycle 4 had I not got the BFP back at the beginning of Sept (having typed this I feel better now that it did not drag on for too long). I am now back to cycle 1 post mc.

Flora I agree it feels like a long time. TTC is never to far from the forefront of my mind. I think that is what makes it feel like a lifetime, constantly there, symptom watching, waiting for fertile week then the 2ww. A lot of waiting really.

Notyetthere · 04/10/2016 13:56

MrsCW86 - I was the same when I got the BFP. I did not dare dtd just in case. I had read it somewhere that in rare cases it might lead to a mc but I don't think that was the case with us. It was more of a long sigh of relief that we were catching our breaths after marathon sessions of dtd every day after AF during that cycle. Now that I had a mc, I don't know how we will approach dtd after we get our bfp. I won't worry about it now though. Until the bfp shows it's lovely face again. Then it will be, 'here we go again!' Someone put it succinctly on another thread - a mc takes away the innocence and enjoyment of being pregnant again.

Sorry that was long. Your comments got me thinking and I went off on tangents.

Eva30 · 04/10/2016 14:08

Haha mrsCW I was very tempted to add a few months on but I actually went to GP when I stopped the pill because I was on some meds and wanted to check it was ok to take while TTC so she'll already have it on file! That's the only time I've been as I moved house early this year so new GP so I've no idea what she'll say. Appointment is tomorrow at 6.

notyetthere I tried feeling for mine a couple of times but had no clue and it's just not for me prodding around down there so I'd rather go off all the other signs, opks & temps etc. I had some EWCM last month when I took EPO so think I'll give that a try again next cycle.

LisaSimpsonsbff · 04/10/2016 14:14

Notyetthere I have to squat to be able to feel my cervix and I think that's probably true of most women, as that's what the nurse told me to do to check the strings when I had an IUD.

I agree about how much longer it feels than is: I'm only on cycle 2 but the end of August, when I had my IUD out, feels like such a long time ago already. I suppose that's partially because I work at a university and August was full-on research/conference mode, whereas now term is in full swing!

MouseLove · 04/10/2016 14:45

Hey MrsC took my first temp this morning. But because I woke at 3.30 I took it then and again at 7 and took an average hahaha. Hopefully tomorrow I'll get it bang on 5am which is when I wake DH for work.
36.11 today which probably means not preggers, not fertile, no AF haha. CakeConfused

Pyjamas81 · 04/10/2016 18:43

What a total arse of a day Angry I miss my holiday!!

I know busy - time has gone quickly, can't believe am on cycle 4!

Good luck at your appointment eva - let us know how you get on. I'm gearing up to booking an appointment so would love to know what's involved. I'm 35 so hopefully my agedness should move things along a bit!

Ha ha MrsC - it may even be downgraded further to complete booze-fuelled annihilation after today! Haven't had anything to drink since last month (sounds better than four days ha ha), but am not ruling it out this month.

On CD5 now and started OPKing today - empty circle on CB and not even a whiff of a line on cheapie, will start the dtd tomorrow...

I got my first flashing smiley face on clear blue very pleased as I had convienced myself my body wasn't normal! I'm Cd 11

How long does it usual take to get static face.....

Hopefulbunny · 04/10/2016 18:45

Sorry for the spelling meant to say convinced!

BusyNothings · 04/10/2016 19:28

hopeful took me 20 days... and I still only got a flashing smiley face. But my body is definitely stupid. Hope the opks go well pj I'm sure it'll kick in soon!

mouse what cd are you on?

notthereyet could you have an angled cervix? Mine is right off to the left so have to squat and get the perfect angle. Took me a while but glad I figured it out.

I love the explanations of ttc very much on point!

I'm struggling to get back into tracking tbh. I want to but since the mc I just worry all the time. To the point I just don't want to think about it!

MoonlightMojitos · 04/10/2016 19:36

Hey mrscw I'm good, thanks for asking :). Cold is still here but slowly starting to improve. I was off work Friday and yesterday with it so feel exhausted today after a day back after 4 days of literally living in a nest on the sofa! I went and got my pack from the midwife today so have been filling everything in (soooo many questions). My actual booking appointment is 31st October when I have to take it all with me. I was putting it off because I'm still nervous of something going wrong but then I thought well I'll need the emergency number if it does so might as well go! How are you getting on?

Welcome back busy! Nice to see you again. Sorry you've been feeling down but hoping you're feeling a bit better now :)

basset I found my post pill periods actually lighter and shorter than pill ones so fx yours stay better too!

eva hope your appointment goes well hun.

notyetthere I have a really low cervix so I think that's why I can feel mine so easy but I think that's unusual (and no idea what it means!)

mouse I'm looking forward to some temp chart analysis haha

pj sorry you've had such a crap day :(. Here's hoping this is another nice short cycle for you with a quick static smiley! I say get the drinks in now lol hopeful you can ask pj about that haha.

MouseLove · 04/10/2016 20:15

Busy I'm on day 19 off my pill so at the moment I'm classing that as CD19.

Pyjamas81 · 04/10/2016 20:19

Oh yes hopeful - I've had all kinds of fun and games with opks! One month it went to static way earlier than I thought meaning we missed FW, another I had 12 days of those infuriating flashy faces, then last month I had two LH surges which meant we dtd at the perfect time for the first surge, but then missed the actual proper time to dtd at second surge because we were so knackered/bored with dtd! Can't wait to see what this month has in store... I think the moral of the story is every woman and every cycle is different!

OP posts:
Hopefulbunny · 04/10/2016 20:54

Sounds like Opks can be fun! Not!

What Cd are you pyjamas?

BusyNothings · 04/10/2016 21:27

Ooh mouse the pill confuses me! I had the implant twice so no periods for five years. I counted the days of my first cycle and I got a bfp but had a very early MC/cp. have you used an app like fertility friend or ovia or just jotting things down? Really helpful to use a graph can figure it out so much easier.

Preach pj I swear my body picks a new type cycle out of thin air every bloody month!

I hope you are feeling better moonlight! I've just had 10 days of with a respiratory infection and went back yesterday. Absolutely he'll as I'm still sick so totally understand how you feel. The sofa nest sounds amazing!

I don't know whether to temp and track this cycle or not. I'm on CD 16 and not done anything at all so is it really worth it or should I just wait it out until next month?

Pyjamas81 · 04/10/2016 22:04

Am on CD 5 hopeful - my AF only lasts for two days, so I leave it a couple of days scared then start OPK testing as my cycles are so batshit!

If it were me busy, I would try and just relax and wait for next cycle, you've had a rough ride, so the mini break might do you good! But, knowing me, I'd be getting the thermometer out and analysing loo paper anyway ha ha
