Hope you don't mind the newbie starting the new thread but thread 4 for those with a short LP!

Will try and add previous thread link later - no idea how to on my phone!

Thanks Mrsunsure, thats so sweet of you. Sorry to hear that you're still feeling poorly, I don't think it will effect implantation although that would be on my mind too (I always try to remember there are plenty of people who manage to conceive with a lot worse health than us, people in famine etc). Fx for you.

AF has started properly for me today, I'm hoping I get prescribed cyclogest but I am worried that my issues are more to do with egg quality and poor corpus luteam development as my progesterone levels at 6dpo were ok (68) but my luteal phase is still on the short side.

I'm feeling a bit miserable about it all today tbh, it's meant to be such a natural thing and I just don't understand why nothings happened yet.

Mrsunsure, try to relax (much easier said than done i know) and hope you're feeling better today.

I was thinking that I may say to my consultant that i want to start clomid rather than progesterone. If hes saying I definitely don't have a short lutal phase, I just ovulate early (which would be around CD8 with a 23 day cycle) he may be more likely to offer me clomid to help with low egg quality and extend my cycles. Mrsunsure, what do you think? He just seemed really anti progesterone and I wondered if this would be more likely. x

Atleast its the weekend now and hopefully you have some nice things planned to distract yourself for a couple of days.

I'm on day 2 of AF and its really heavy, I've never had one like this before. Surely it can't be from the progesterone cream as isnt it estrogen that builds up the lining? Or could it be the chinese herbs? I really don't know what to think. Sad

Friendlycav · 24/06/2016 19:09

I found AF heavier since I've been taking Chinese herbs so I think it's probably that. It wasn't an issue for me as my periods have always been quite light. Since taking herbs I've had bright red medium flow with no clots (sorry tmi) so I see that as a positive improvement.

sunshinegirl12 · 24/06/2016 19:30

Thanks Friendly, mine is also bright red but what I would say is too heavy and also had a really large clot. Hopefully its just my hormones sorting themselves out as my last period was following an anovulatory cycle. How are you getting on now? Did you start on the cyclogest this cycle? x

Friendlycav · 24/06/2016 19:46

I think it will be your hormones sorting themselves out. I would expect that next cycle or the one after you won't see any clots but I'm sure this is something your herbalist will want your feedback on and they can amend the herbs if needed.

I'm plodding along thanks Sunshine. I decided to take Cyclogest this cycle even though chances are low (I can't help but have a tiny bit of hope). I have my appt with the new fertility consultant on 5th July. I want to try and have my FSH retested and get my AMH test result before the appt so we have the full picture.

You raise an interesting point on asking for clomid vs progesterone. If I were you, I would ask for both. I've started off with just progesterone and want clomid and Mrs has clomid and asked for progesterone so think it's ideal to have both. I've heard that clomid can make your uterus lining thinner so that's my only hesitation in taking it as think my lining is already quite thin (although this has been improved by herbs).

I definitely don't think I stand a chance of getting both, but aslong as I get one or the other to start on I'll be happy. Mrs, can I ask if when you have the scan to check how the clomid is doing, is it another internal one?

Friendly, I would be the same holding out a bit of hope, I've read so many 'miracle stories' online so think it is definitely worth a shot.

I've just ordered the book 'making babies', has anyone read this?

Hi Mrs, no symptoms. I thought there was no chance and was shocked to see a bfp at 10dpo, took the test before I was leaving for work just 'to see'. Brushed my teeth and nearly collapsed when i saw the test, DH was walking the dogs he was just as shocked when he got back! First symptoms were sore breasts after that. Everyone is different though I guess!

Sunshine, I agree with friendly. Ask for both. The consultant was happy for me to try both. Clomid for stronger ovulation and progesterone to maintain it. Didn't get round to the Clomid obviously, the nhs prescribed me progesterone first, always worth a try x

mascaraisamust · 25/06/2016 09:03

Oh and keep busy Mrs, fill your days with activities and stop googling Grin

Hi guys sorry to jump in,

ive been ttc since december (officially) but i guess november counts also but still no luck. currently trying to lose weight and convinced theres something up. according to my app my luteal phase is 10 day but i can spot anything up to a week before AF :( this month was just the day before though which is better but this has only started since august.

started tempting this month to make sure i am ovulating and to see if infact my LP is 10days.

any way i saw you guys were talking about IVF. I came across an article (as i seem to be going into panic mode) about asda pharmacy where you get prescription medication at cost price as its not for profit. Reduces the cost to an aver £1346.34

not sure if thats an option if youz ever consider it ?

37 weeks now Mrs, so classed as full term. Another three weeks until he is 'due' though. Trying to keep busy and do as much as I can. I will definately let you know when he is here and safe. People keep asking if I'm excited, truth is I can't get excited until I know he is here and all is ok. It sounds ridiculous but people don't realise the backstory and therefore how precious he is to us.

Hoping you feel better soon, difficult to stay upbeat if you feel lousy. Rest up and have a lazy Sunday to shift that cold xx

Welcome Lucy, and thanks for sharing about Asda, thats good to know (though hope it doesn't come to that for any of us).

Mrsunsure, can understand how frustrating this is for you. I really wouldn't think it's progesterone related esp as when your levels are tested now they seem good. Hopefully on this occasion the spotting is linked to implantation.

Mascara, wow I can't believe how fast that time has gone, can't wait to hear your news that he is safely here x

lucylou1234 · 26/06/2016 11:08

Na not really had tests done. Whenever I've spoken to any one about it they dnt really think it's an issue :( I had a smear done in March as it was a little sore during sex but that came back clear. Just got it in my head I really need to.ahift some pounds before they will take me.seriously x

Welcome Lucy and thanks for sharing the asds article.

Mrs, my experience is that AF doesn't arrive until 2-3 days after stopping Cyclogest. But I think I've read that this differs for different people x

lucylou1234 · 26/06/2016 12:58

What would basic bloods involve Mrs ? My bmi is hi 34.4 :( so I know they will blame the weight n probably wouldn't even consider help until it's under 30 at least :( x

Hi Lucy, I think you would be able to get the day 3 and day 21 bloods done which would check your basic hormone levels, you could also ask for a HSG just to check your tubes. Some clinics will want you to have been ttc for atleast a year before doing these tests depending on your age (maybe tell a little white lie that you've been ttc for longer?). I think prior to offering treatment they will want your BMI a little lower as they seem to have a strict guideline for this as I was told I couldn't have IVF etc until I increase mine.

Have you tried B6 for your luteal phase? x
