I went down the route that I've been working with my acupuncturist who specialises in fertility and shes observed that my luteal phase is far too short at 9 days, and I want to try this before having to opt for IUI/IVF. He's quite an intimidating man so hopefully I've got the point across by email, though not holding out much hope Sad

Thanks Mrsunsure, I'm going to wait and see what the private clinic say, surely if I'm willing to pay it doesnt effect them anyway. I've had a look on ebay, nothing on there at the mo but will keep checking back.

Really hope it works for you x

I've spoken to the consultant, he said there is no proof that progesterone works and it won't work for me. He questioned why we hadn't been back in so I said it gets a bit expensive, he offered us another consultation free of charge. I said I need to try the progesterone just for peace of mind, apparently he might prescribe it when I go in. Maybe if I start crying?!!

It is a worry as he said my cycles short as I ovulate early, not cos I have a short luteal phase!!

Friendlycav · 21/06/2016 13:58

OMG sunshine that's unbelievable! It is actually shocking that a short luteal phase isn't widely recognised as an issue. I would 100% take him up on a free consultation and go armed with evidence and bring on the waterworks if you have to! I'm looking to make an appointment at a new clinic closer to my work to see if they will give me clomid x

sunshinegirl12 · 21/06/2016 17:40

I'm definitely going to have the free consultation and try to convince him to give me the cyclogest, even if it is just to rule it out. Surely its worth a try though he was adamant it wouldn't work.

I think I've seen its possible to get a private prescription online for clomid, but of course then you wouldn't be monitored on it x

sunshinegirl12 · 21/06/2016 18:13

Has anyone tried soy isoflavones? x

If only we could buy progesterone pessaries online without prescription. It's so frustrating but atleast he's saving us £125 by offering an appt for free.

DH has started taking maca too now, although he already has good sperm it can't hurt. From what I've read, soy isoflavones are 'natures clomid' and works in the same way x

Sunshine that's so annoying! I would go for the tears too. Don't buy online, in fact don't try anything else. See the consultant ASAP and then see if he will give you it. I'd be tempted to try a different clinic/out of the area if he won't. I don't see what the big deal is with trying these things, especially when you're willing to pay!

Friendlycav · 22/06/2016 09:06

I haven't tried soy isoflavones either. I think because I've had it drummed in to me to avoid soy when ttc as it can mess with hormones but I will look in to it if I can't get clomid. Clomid has never been offered to me but maybe because I haven't asked for it? I ovulate fine so I guess it has been deemed that I don't need it but would like to try it as a next step. I'm going to get my AMH and FSH tested again and then see a consultant to discuss the results and next steps.

Good luck with the progesterone Mrs x

Sunshine, I hope you get your next appt with the consultant very soon x

Mascara, good to hear from you. It can't be long for you now, hope you are feeling well! x

sunshinegirl12 · 22/06/2016 09:48

I've got my appt for next weds, not too long a wait. I'm 12dpo and had spotting the last 2 days (I stopped the cream last night) fully expecting AF today but I do wonder if the progesterone cream has helped a little. Is it something that 'builds up' and gets more effective the more cycles you use it?

I am tempted with the soy isoflavines esp as I've read it improves egg quality, just worried about messing up my hormones again x

I don't see why they wouldn't give me clomid. I was conceived with clomid so that's another reason I really want to give it a try and feel it could work for me. It increases the number of follicles so surely that can only be a good thing!

Good luck with the waiting Mrs, agree it is the worst part.

Ah no Mrs, rest up and get your DH to look after you.Flowers

AF hasn't started yet though getting brown spotting still so I'm thinking the progesterone cream may have helped a little as usually I would've started bleeding by now. If I don't get the prescription for cyclogest will def give it another go next month x

I don't always spot, sometimes I spot a day or 2 before AF. I started spotting on monday at 10dpo, and stopped taking the progesterone last night. I don't really know what to think, do you its something that will get better the more cycles I use it or that you get the full effects of it from the first cycle of use? I just ordered it online from Wellsprings.

AF is definitely on its way, it just seems to be holding off it starting properly, not sure if thats a good thing. I'm overthinking everything lately.

Get an early night Mrs and hopefully you'll feel better in the morning x

Progesterone shouldn't make you feel ill Mrs, I think it's a coincidence.

I really think Cyclogest will stop any spotting you have Mrs and Sunshine, keeping my fingers crossed for you. Cyclogest is much stronger than natural progesterone cream.

I've got a follow up appt with a new consultant on 5th July so not too long to wait. I've decided to take progesterone for at least a few days just in case by some miracle we've conceived even though we hardly dtd this cycle due to DH's work. I'm 5dpo and have had quite a lot of cramping this eve Hmm
