Thats really interesting Mrs, does she think she will be able to help with the acupuncture alone or will she give you herbs? Really pleased you feel positive about it x

Sorry to hear this Mrs, I hope you are ok.

I had my appointment with Create Fertility yesterday and based on a low AMH, they have recommended mild IVF. It's a big decision and I could wait until January to get one round of IVF free on the NHS but it feels the right thing for me to go with Create and it's near work so think I'm going to go for it. I can start next cycle.

Hope everyone else is ok? x

sunshinegirl12 · 06/07/2016 14:49

Glad to hear you got a good feeling about Create and its good they are able to fit you in so soon. I think I will most likely end up going down the same route but the more reading I've done on it, the less scary it seems (if my BMI was right I think I would opt for it sooner rather than later too.) I've got a few questions that I hope you don't mind answering, feel free not to answer any though... did they advise how likely it is to be successful? Will they be giving you medication and if it didn't work are you still eligable for the free NHS cycle? Also do you know how much time off work you are likely to need? And you really don't need to answer this one, but what sort of cost is it likely to be? Really hope it works out for you Friendly. Flowers

Mrsunsure, hope you're ok xx

I am honestly happy to answer any of your questions Sunshine. I agree that the more I read up on it, the less scary the whole process seems and if I get pregnant then it will all be worth it. I had a feeling it would come to this so we have been saving for many months. I was told that the likelihood for success is approx 45% per round, taking into account my age (34), AMH (9.2) and lastest Antral Follocle Count (11). 45% sounds pretty good to me!

I'm not entirely clear on all the medication I'll need (I have a Treatment Consultation in a few weeks) but it definitely involves taking a variety of drugs (it's mild IVF though so nowhere near as much as for normal IVF treatment). I will have to inject myself in the stomach everyday for about a week.

I'm not sure about NHS eligibility, I'm trying to find out. I don't see why it should prevent eligibility though and I don't plan on telling them..

I'm not sure yet how much time I'll need off work but for egg collection, I'll be heavily sedated so that's at least one day off work. I would probably take the day off for the day of transfer too. Plus there are all the scans and blood tests, expect 2-3 of each at different stages of cycle. The clinic is about 5 mins walk from my office which is a massive reason why I think I'll go with them. I can sneak out for a quick blood text without anyone knowing hopefully!

It is expensive. 1 round is approx £3k but scans and blood tests are extra so prob add at least £500-800 to that. 3 rounds works out at less per round but they do egg collection for all 3 rounds before any transfer so you can't do 1 round and cancel the others if it works.

Hope that helps, very happy to answer any other questions you have x

sunshinegirl12 · 06/07/2016 16:03

Thanks for answering Friendly, 45% chance sounds really good. I wish I was in a position to go for IVF at the moment, I am currently eating everything in sight trying to raise my BMI, not too far off now.

It does concern me about time off work, unfortunately I don't have anywhere near me or my work and would be atleast 45 minutes to the nearest private clinic, so I may aswell travel a bit further and go to a clinic of choice. Did you ask about clomid? The thought of giving daily injections sounds pretty scary as I'm hugely needle phobic, but as you said it will all be worth it in the end xx

mascaraisamust · 06/07/2016 19:50

Hi ladies, sorry to hear it didn't work Mrs.

Friendly I think I'd do the same thing. I am so hopeful it works out for you. Will you still be able to access IVF on the nhs if you go private though as I'm sure I read they can refuse if you've been down the private route. I suppose it's a matter of money...

Sunshine, hope you can get that bmi up so things can get started, at least you have the cyclogest to start. X

Friendlycav · 06/07/2016 20:37

Thanks Mascara, I will definitely check about accessing IVF through the NHS if I go private as really don't want that option to be ruled out.

Sunshine, I'm really bad with needles too but hoping they will be very small. At least all the blood tests I've had recently have made me man up and I haven't fainted for a while so good progress!

I did ask about clomid but he said that as I have regular periods that indicates I ovulate ok so clomid wouldn't do much for me and I should go straight for IVF. I am aware than IVF can be a money making machine so would quite like to get a 2nd opinion on that.

Good luck with getting your BMI up Sunshine. It's difficult when a clinic is far away but maybe you could consider going abroad? Keeping my fingers crossed that Cyclogest works for you x

sunshinegirl12 · 06/07/2016 21:13

I took soy isoflavones this cycle, I pretty much always ovulate CD12 though am currently on CD14 without ovulating, though have had a couple of days of high fertility on OPKs, hoping will soon get a peak. I'm still holding out a tiny bit of hope that I'll get my BFP naturally, although it's probably not very realistic.

My consultant said the same thing about clomid, that as I already ovulate it wouldn't help me, although I have seen it does work for some ladies that ovulate already.

Mascara, how many weeks have you got left to go? Are you all ready now? x

I've got an induction booked for early next week, really nervous to whether it's the right choice. I'll be just over 39 weeks. Hoping I'll go into labour before that but doubtful! So I'll keep my induction appointment at the minute but I can review it anytime I guess. With the monitoring they've done on me they offer it as standard protocol but I'm so in between...

It's just because I've hit trigger points going in with lack of movement, he has been fine when he is on the trace machine but sounds like they want to be cautious, not sure how I feel about being induced though.

I was talking to a friend yesterday who got pregnant through acupuncture after years of trying. Could you call the clinic and ask about coming off Clomid and the effects? X

Friendlycav · 07/07/2016 11:55

Not long to go Mascara! Keeping everything crossed for you that you have a safe and easy delivery.

I am seriously considering using Create for my next cycle so it's all systems go to get prep blood tests etc. I have 2 weeks off in August so figured now is as good a time as any! I'm going to try and call Guys hospital assisted conception unit today to find out if I can get IVF on the NHS if I've already had a round privately.

I'm also going to give acupuncture another go as have read it's a good thing to keep up when going through IVF treatment x

sunshinegirl12 · 07/07/2016 13:40

I haven't had any luck with acupuncture yet either, I haven't had an appointment for 3 weeks but have one tonight as she only usually want to see me in the last part of my cycle, presumabley to help lengthen the luteal phase. Tbh I feel a bit like shes given up on me Hmm

Feeling rubbish today, really down about it all Sad

Thanks for your kind words, I'll keep you updated.

I would go for IVF if I was offered it, I know it seems all a bit final but you can be sure that all will be monitored at every stage.

Sorry to hear you are feeling so down Mrsunsure, I totally understand how awful the whole thing is Flowers I had a huge meltdown this morning too as also feel like it will never be my turn, but as DH often reminds me, there are still many options to help us get there. How did you get on with your acupuncture?

Mascara, wishing all you the best this week, will be thinking of you and can't wait to hear that your little boy is safely here xx

I know its a huge struggle and feels like theres such a long way to go, but we will all get there one way or another even if it is with IUI or IVF. Try to think of something nice to look forwards to this evening to help get you through the day, even if its just a long hot bath and chocolate xx
