Oh and sorry forgot to answer about the std. They didn't give me the results first time either but I pestered my coordinator for a copy of the report by email later. Everything was fine. They would have said if there was a problem.

Thanks Lucie! I think I might do that actually. It took us ages to come to the decision to get them tested last night, and I think we were both a bit taken aback when she said she didn't recommend it so neither of us said anything. I can't remember what she said her name was, but the name on the report is Pospisilova Hana.

lucieloos · 06/08/2016 11:22

Ohhh dr hana! Hmm she started out being my doctor the first couple of rounds but I swapped from her a while back. You will need to get in touch with them ASAP as they need to do it before freezing.

Excellent news MPP :-)

Welcome Skipper, we are 14 months ttc and are in the process of fertility testing and it definitely feels better to be doing something!

Good luck with the lining maple :-)

sk1pper · 06/08/2016 15:07

MrsRen - can I ask what your GP asked you the first time you went? How long did it take before they sent you for fertility testing and is there a big wait?

MrsRen · 06/08/2016 18:35

Hi Skipper,

The GP asked general health questions, how long we had been TTC for and did an internal and external exam on me. Then sent a request for an ultra sound which happened the next week. Also gave me forms to have bloods taken on day 1-5 of my cycle and day 21. My DH had to have a separate appointment the following week and had a similar exam and got a pot for a sperm analysis.

I'm back on Monday to find out the next steps.

Hope that helps X

sk1pper · 06/08/2016 18:54

Very helpful thanks, I won't be going for another few weeks but it's good to know what kinda things might happen. I wish you luck with your next steps, keep us updated :) x

Brenna24 · 06/08/2016 20:09

Welcome Skipper. it is such a tough position to be in but I find the fact that I am trying tests and things helps. Just to be doing something is easier.

Congratultions MPP. I would guess if there was anything to know about the STD test they would have told you and probably not gone ahead.

I have been out for a hillwalk today. I got up, walked my ancient dog who wan't coming with me (which kind of breaks my heart not to take him). Cycled to my friend's house and then we drove with his daughter up tot he hills. Climbed two Munros, drove back. Cycled home and walked my dog. 36,378 steps so far today and DDog needs another walk yet. I did Abs blast at the gym last night, rock climbing the night before, HIIT training tuesday night, yoga on monday night and cycled to work and back every day. I really hope I have lost some weight this week.

I got my bloods taken for the retests yesterday.

maplebaby · 07/08/2016 12:22

Congrats MPP!! Fingers tightly crossed for a sticky one!

Brenna I'm so impressed with all your exercise! Makes me feel even more like a sloth! I really should do exercise - I don't do any at all. I'm pretty sedentary!

Good luck tomorrow mrsren.

I had a solid smiley today (was empty until last night - never get the flashing one). Called the clinic and left a message - I guess they may do IUI tomorrow (dependent on lining) but worrying as DH has a meeting he has to go to but they haven't told him what time it is grrr! We shagged last night and have to abstain today for potential IUI tomorrow which is annoying - tmi had lots of ewcm (or could have been left overs I suppose!) just now so feel sad we can't take advantage of it! Really hope I haven't ovulated by tomorrow!

stealthbanana · 07/08/2016 13:04

Goodness brenna, I'm exhausted just reading all that! You are hardcore!

mpp congrats on being PUPO! Don't worry too much if you can't test (although as lucie says, if you can get them to do so then do!). banana and I had a much higher number of embies (I had 20, she had 12) and with a 50% abnormality rate I could have done a lot of failed transfers if I hadn't tested. With lower numbers of Frosties whilst it would be gutting to have a failed transfer your odds of having 2 duff embies in a row are much lower. Also, it is now possible to thaw and retest (banana did this on some of hers from the first round) so if you're really keen you could follow that up too.

maple good luck for tomorrow! Smiley faces and cm sound very promising. Sounds like you've got all bases covered.

star1980 · 07/08/2016 20:20

Congratulations on being pupo mpp! That's really great news about all those embryos. When will you know how many you'll have for the freezer? I see what you mean about keeping a lid on being excited. Ok, it's certainly not 100% but I'd let yourself get pretty excited about getting this far, you have a really good chance and I have everything crossed for you!

You too Lucie! How are you bearing up? Hope you're keeping relatively sane Smile

Great timing on the opk maple. I really hope your iui goes ahead tomorrow - I can't see any reason why it wouldn't. If your partner has no sperm issues then you could probably get away with having sex tonight, but there's no need really as it hangs around for a few days so you're covered by yesterday's effort.

Waves to everyone else - hope you're all doing well.

Afm, to those who were asking, I did shag in the end with 4 follicles and against the dr's advice. It just felt like too good a chance to pass up and I couldn't fathom using protection. That said, I'm currently 6dpo and feel exactly the same as every other sodding month so not thinking anything different will happen. Pleased we have our next appointment on 1 Sep so can get going with ivf hopefully in October.

lucieloos · 07/08/2016 21:13

Thanks Star, I'm ok just waiting for time to pass to see what happens next. Glad you were able to dtd and not long at all for your next appt now.

Brenna, wow that's a massive effort on the exercise! Well done!

Maple, good luck for tomorrow. Hope the iui can go ahead. Keep us posted.

MPP, hope you got home safely. Did you find out about your remaining 2 embryos?

Sammy, good luck for your scan on Tuesday.

MPP81 · 08/08/2016 10:54

Morning all!

Bloody hell Brenna, that is an impressive amount of exercise! I'm getting tired just reading it! You deserve a few pounds after all that. Good luck with the blood test results!

Maple, everything crossed for you today! Keep us posted!

Hi Stealth! Hope you are doing ok. Thats interesting about now being able to thaw and retest. I didn't phone and ask them to test in the end. DH was a bit non-commital, so we decided to leave it but it is playing on my mind quite a bit and I think we've made a mistake there. Time will tell, I suppose.

Star, I hope everything works out for you this cycle. 6dpo is still very very early, but I can totally understand not getting your hopes up. Your next apppointment will be here before you know it!!

Good luck for tomorrow, Sammy!

Lucie, glad to see you're doing ok Smile. Our plane was delayed last night so we didn't get home til almost 2am and poor DH had to be up at 6.30am for work. I, however, have only just dragged my butt out of bed! No news about our embryos yet. They said they would email, so if I dont hear today I will try and chase them. 2dp5dt, and I'm already stressing out. I woke up yesterday absolutely convinced that it wont work, and had a mini-meltdown, but I'm a bit more hopeful today. I am also finding that I am noticing every little twinge - something I havent done since our early ttc days. I was quite crampy yesterday though, but I think that was more my tummy than anything else as I had a ridiculous amount of wind Blush. Seriously, I probably could have hung out the back of the plane and powered it myself with my arse. DH thought it was hysterical. Popping to Tesco in a bit to get some hpts, with a vague notion of testing the trigger. Is this wise?

maplebaby · 08/08/2016 11:07

Thanks all! DH has to go in for 1:30pm today to give his sample and then I'm due in at 2:45pm! They said they may want to scan me before though - feeling a bit nervous about my lining - convinced this is the issue but we shall see. May insist on oestrogen if this fails although not sure if they will listen as I get the impression the NHS have a "one size fits all" approach!

MPP I had to stop myself from laughing loudly at work about your wind! Have you expelled it all now and feeling less windy today?! Grin

lucieloos · 08/08/2016 11:33

Hey MPP, glad you are back safe and sound that's annoying about your flight though! Hope you can catch up on some rest today. Poor DH! You can ring the embryo line in 30 mins and find out about your other 2 embryos, that's what I did otherwise you will be waiting ages if you wait for them to email you the report.

I'm doing ok, had a lot of aches, pinches etc for the first couple of days after transfer but now it's eased and I don't feel a lot at all apart from starving hungry all the time so I'm not too hopeful really. I would test out the trigger if I were you so that when the time comes and you want to test properly you will know if the result is real. The only thing is you will have to use a frer as they detect much lower levels so even if it's negative on the cheapy tests it might not be on the frer. I know with a standard dose of Ovitrelle it's normally out of my system by 3 or 4dpt. I haven't tried it before that. I completely forgot that I had 2 shots of Ovitrelle this time so it's going to take longer to clear but stupidly I didn't think about testing out the trigger until yesterday and now it's probably too late. I'm 9dpo today.

Maple, brilliant news! Good luck for this afternoon hope all goes well.

My appointment with the GP has been bought forward to today, really unusual as I didn't request it. I'm worried I sounded desperate when I called now. DH can't make it in time from work but I can probably manage the first appointment without him. Why am I so nervous ha ha...

chopsface · 08/08/2016 14:04

Sticking my head in to wish my old friends good luck. Sammy good luck with your scan. Lucie good luck with your 2ww x x

maplebaby · 08/08/2016 16:19

Good luck at the doctors today skipper - no bad thing that they are seeing you earlier - I didn't see the docs with DH either.

I have been inseminated! They didn't do a scan to look at lining so it might have been a pointless exercise but we shall see. Sperm count was low - 12million and they like to see 14million Sad but everything else was really good. Quality not quantity I guess!

sk1pper · 08/08/2016 16:35

Thanks maple x

What's the process for insemination? Was it unpleasant? Sorry total noob, I could google it but I'm at work :D

lucieloos · 08/08/2016 16:56

Hey chops thanks for popping by! Hope all is well with you.

Skipper, great news your appt has been brought forward. It's nothing to worry about they will probably just take a history and arrange for blood tests etc. Let us know how you get on.

Maple, yay for insemination! Definitely quality over quantity and at least you are in with a chance now. Fingers crossed for you.

Had my first appointment with the GP. Didn't go as planned really. Doctor seemed to think there was nothing to worry about, happy with our weights and ages and strongly suggested not to go ahead with tests as they can stress people out. Wants me to go back in 6-12 months, or if I'm really worried to rebook an appointment with my DH attending. All in all, just a typical "come back in x number of days" response. DH found it hilarious as he doesn't rate NHS GPs at all and he told me yesterday that this would happen. I'm not sure how to feel about it, should I wait another year? The doctor seemed certain I'd conceive naturally, I just need to be patient and relax.

lucieloos · 08/08/2016 18:38

Skipper, you are young so you could wait another 6 months or so if you are happy with that and see if it happens. For me I arranged private blood tests etc after 6 months ttc as I had a feeling something wasn't right and I wanted to check everything out before potentially wasting another 6 months. I'm glad we did it that way but have a chat with your DH and see what you think is best. The majority of people will conceive within 12 months with another small percentage conceiving in the following 6 months after that. When I went to the gp I added an extra 6 months onto the time we had been ttc as I know they are funny about these things.

MrsRen · 08/08/2016 18:41

Hi Skipper,

Might be worth trying another doctor as that one doesn't sound very sympathetic or helpful at all. All I've read including NHS stuff says you should go to your GP after a year if you are under 35.

I've also had my docs appointment, DH got called away with work this week so I had to go on my own. Before this though DH rang for his SA and the doc he spoke to said that out of the 4 areas tested he was at the lower end of normal on 2 areas but not to worry and they should continue testing me.... However the doc I saw today completely disagrees and has given me another pot for DH to do another sample. Says they need to do more than one sample before they rule out a sperm issue.

So we wait for another SA to come back and then they will look at my tubes and give us a referral but we probably wouldn't be eligible for any fertility treatment until we have been TTC for two years.

We are both ok with that, just want to make sure we have both had all the tests possible so we don't waste the next 10months of trying!

Hope everyone else is ok and there is lots of implantation going on and lots of lovely eggs growing! :-)

sk1pper · 08/08/2016 19:49

Lucie - I don't have any gut feeling that anything is wrong. I'm weighing up whether it will be more stressful to have the tests done or not. I feel really silly right now, so many inspiring women on here having all sorts of treatment after TTC for many years and here I am at 12 months loosing my shit.

MrsRen - glad to hear you are having more success with your appointments, hopefully your results are clear and you can just focus on DTD with some confidence. ;) keep me updated, I'm really interested in the process and the tests they run for you. I'm not going to take it further myself right now but in 6 months I may have tests done privately through my work health insurance.

lucieloos · 08/08/2016 20:01

I don't think it will be more stressful to have the tests. They are only a few simple blood tests and an SA for your DH. They will either come back and show everything is ok and then you are good to carry on for another 6 months or they might indicate a problem and then at least you know about it before wasting another 6 months and you can think about the next step. That's what I would do anyway.
